| 1 | Biofunctional magnesium coated Ti6Al4V scaffold enhances osteogenesis and angiogenesis in vitro and in vivo for orthopedic application显示文摘The insufficient osteogenesis and osseointegration of porous titanium based scaffold limit its further application.Early angiogenesis is important for scaffold survival.It is necessary to develop a multifunctional surface on titanium scaffold with both osteogenic and angiogenic properties.In this study,a biofunctional magnesium coating is deposited on porous Ti6Al4V scaffold.For osseointegration and osteogenesis analysis,in vitro studies reveal that magnesium-coated Ti6Al4V co-culture with MC3T3-E1 cells can improve cell proliferation,adhesion,extracellular matrix(ECM)mineralization and ALP activity compared with bare Ti6Al4V cocultivation.Additionally,MC3T3-E1 cells cultured with magnesium-coated Ti6Al4V show significantly higher osteogenesisrelated genes expression.In vivo studies including fluorochrome labeling,micro-computerized tomography and histological examination of magnesium-coated Ti6Al4V scaffold reveal that new bone regeneration is significantly increased in rabbits after implantation.For angiogenesis studies,magnesium-coated Ti6Al4V improve HUVECs proliferation,adhesion,tube formation,wound-healing and Transwell abilities.HUVECs cultured with magnesium-coated Ti6Al4V display significantly higher angiogenesis-related genes(HIF-1αand VEGF)expression.Microangiography analysis reveal that magnesium-coated Ti6Al4V scaffold can significantly enhance the blood vessel formation.This study enlarges the application scope of magnesium and provides an optional choice to the conventional porous Ti6Al4V scaffold with enhanced osteogenesis and angiogenesis for further orthopedic applications. | Peng Gao Bo Fan Xiaoming Yu Wenwen Liu Jie Wu Lei Shi Di Yang Lili Tan Peng Wan Yulin Hao Shujun Li Wentao Hou Ke Yang Xiaokang Li Zheng Guo | 2020 | Bioactive Materials2020,5,3: | 15 |
| 2 | Influence of Weave Structures on the Tribological Properties of Hybrid Kevlar/PTFE Fabric Composites显示文摘The existing research of the woven fabric self-lubricating liner mainly focus on the tribological performance improvements and the service life raised by changing different fiber type combinations, adding additive modification, and performing fiber surface modification. As fabric composites, the weave structures play an important role in the mechanical and tribological performances of the liners. However, hardly any literature is available on the friction and wear behavior of such composites with different weave structures. In this paper, three weave structures (plain, twill 1/3 and satin 8/5) of hybrid Kevlar/PTFE fabric composites are selected and pin-on-flat linear reciprocating wear studies are done on a CETR tester under different pressures and different frequencies. The relationship between the tensile strength and the wear performance are studied. The morphologies of the worn surfaces under the typical test conditions are analyzed by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The analysis results show that at 10 MPa, satin 8/5 performs the best in friction-reduction and antiwear performance, and plain is the worst. At 30 MPa, however, the antiwear performance is reversed and satin 8/5 does not even complete the 2 h wear test at 16 Hz. There is no clear evidence proving that the tensile strength has an influence on the wear performance. So the different tribological performance of the three weave structures of fabric composites may be attributed to the different PTFE proportions in the fabric surface and the different wear mechanisms. The fabric composites are divided into three regions: the lubrication region, the reinforced region and the bonding region. The major mechanisms are fatigue wear and the shear effects of the friction force in the lubrication region. In the reinforced region fiber-matrix de-bonding and fiber breakage are involved. | 3 | Genome-wide Dissection of Co-selected UV-B Responsive Pathways in the UV-B Adaptation of Qingke显示文摘Qingke (Tibetan hulless barley) has long been cultivated and exposed to long-term and strong UV-B radiation on the Tibetan Plateau, which renders it an ideal species for elucidating novel UV-B responsive mechanisms in plants. Here we report a comprehensive metabolite profiling and metabolite-based genome-wide association study (mGWAS) using 196 diverse qingke and barley accessions. Our results demonstrated both constitutive and induced accumulation, and common genetic regulation, of metabolites from different branches of the phenylpropanoid pathway that are involved in UV-B protection. A total of 90 significant mGWAS loci for these metabolites were identified in barley-qingke differentiation regions, and a number of high-level metabolite trait alleles were found to be significantly enriched in qingke, suggesting co-selection of various phenylpropanoids. Upon dissecting the entire phenylpropanoid pathway, we identified some key determinants controlling natural variation of phenylpropanoid content, including three novel proteins, a flavone C-pentosyltransferase, a tyramine hydroxycinnamoyl acyltransferase, and a MYB transcription factor. | 4 | Residents’ perspectives and responses to environmental degradation in the upper Dadu River, eastern Tibetan Plateau显示文摘Environmental degeneration in the Tibetan Plateau attracts worldwide attention, whereas case studies on how the residents understand and respond to environmental degeneration are scarce. Using a Participatory Rural Appraisal method, this paper investigates how the people in different regions in the upper Dadu River understand and respond to environmental degeneration, based on comparative field surveys in three villages, in which Danzamu village is chosen from villages in the valley region, Kerma village from mountainside region, Rico village from the mountain and plateau region. The results show that: (1) although awakened to environmental degeneration, the residents in different regions have different responses. As agricultural labors have been transferred to the secondary and tertiary industries, population pressure in Danzamu and Kerma villages is mitigated. Residents in Danzamu village actively respond to natural disasters and forest degradation, as their livelihoods never rely on forests and rangelands again. Whereas the residents in Kerma village negatively respond to natural disasters, forest and meadow degradation and the ruin of wildlife resources, as their livelihoods still rely on stockbreeding. Labors in Rico village are hard to transfer to the secondary and tertiary industries, so they have to raise more livestock to make a living. Active measures are just taken to avoid livestock loss, not to avoid forest and meadow degradation and the ruin of wildlife resources. So the most fragile region is the mountain and plateau region and mountainside region, not the valley region. (2) Livelihood strategy is the key factor affecting the residents to respond to population pressure and environmental degeneration. So the framework of sustainable livelihood strategy should be used to explain and intervene in issues of population pressure and environmental degradation in ecotones. (3) Transferring agricultural labors to the secondary and tertiary industries were favorable to improving people’s livelihood. It is necessary to reduce the education fees to speed up the pace of labors transferring in the mountainside region. | 5 | SSHT Process -a Low Cost Solution for Low Sulfur and Low Aromatics Diesel显示文摘The need for cleaner fuels has resulted in a continuing worldwide trend to reduce diesel sulfur and aromatics. There are many approaches to reducing sulfur and aromatics in diesel. Most of them have a common drawback of high cost because of adopting two stages of hydrotreating and using noble-metal catalyst, especially for reducing aromatics. The attempt to resolve this issue has led to the recent development of the Single Stage Hydrotreating (SSHT) process by Research Institute of Petroleum Processing (RIPP), SINOPEC.The SSHT process is a single-stage hydrotreating technology for producing low sulfur and low aromatics diesel. The process uses one or two non-noble-metal catalysts system and operates at moderate pressure. When revamping an existing unit to meet low aromatics diesel specification, the only thing to do is to add a reactor or replace the existing reactor, In pilot plant tests, the SSHT technology has successfully treated SRGO (Straight Run Gas Oil), LCO (Light Cycle Oil) or the blend of them. It is shown that by using the SSHT process diesel with sulfur of 30 ppm and aromatics of 15 m% can be produced from Middle-East SRGO and diesel with aromatics content of 25 m% can be produced from cracked feed, such as FCC-LCO. High diesel yield and cetane number gain (from cracked feed stocks) give the SSHT technology a performance advantage compared to conventional hydrocracking and hydrotreating processes.The lower investment and operating cost is another advantage. | 6 | Depression accelerates gastric cancer invasion and metastasis by inducing a neuroendocrine phenotype via the catecholamine/β_(2)-AR/MACC1 axis显示文摘Background:Depression is a common,easily ignored,accompanied disease of gastric cancer(GC)patients and is often observed with elevated plasma catecholamine levels.Depression frequently promotes GC progression and leads to poor clinical outcomes;however,the molecular mechanisms underlying depression-induced GC progression remain poorly understood.We aimed to study the effects of depression on GC progression and explore possible mechanisms mediating the action of depression-associated catecholamines on GC.Methods:Depression states of GC patients were graded using the Patient Health Questionnaire-9,and plasma catecholamine levels were examined by high performance liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry.Migrative and invasive GC cells were examined using transwell assays,and metastatic GC niches were imaged using bioluminescence technology in a depression mouse model established with chronic unpredictable mild stress.Mouse depression-like behaviors were assessed through sucrose preference,forced swimming,and tail suspension tests.Characteristics of the neuroendocrine phenotype were observed via RT-PCR,Western blotting,flow cytometry,and transmission electron microscopy.Results:Fifty-one GC patients(age:53.61±1.79 years;cancer duration:3.71±0.33 months;depression duration:2.37±0.38 months;male-to-female ratio:1.55:1)were enrolled in the study.Depression grade was significantly higher in GC patients showing higher plasma levels of catecholamines(epinephrine:P=0.018;noradrenaline:P=0.009),higher oncogene metastasis-associated in colon cancer-1(MACC1)level(P=0.018),and metastasis(P<0.001).Further,depression-associated catecholamine specifically bound to the beta-2 adrenergic receptor(β_(2)-AR)and upregulated MACC1 expression,and thus promoting neuroendocrine phenotypic transformation through direct binding betweenMACC1 and synaptophysin.Eventually,the neuroendocrine phenotypic transformation accelerated GC invasion in vitro and metastasis in vivo.However,β_(2)-AR antagonist ICI-118,551 or MACC1 silencing effectively blocked the catecholamineinduced neuroendocrine phenotypic transformation and eliminated depressionenhanced GC migration and invasion.Moreover,β_(2)-AR blocking or MACC1 silencing prevented GC metastasis attributed to a neuroendocrine phenotype in a depression mouse model.Conclusions:Catecholamine-induced neuroendocrine phenotypes of GC cells led to depression-accelerated GC invasion and metastasis via the β_(2)-AR/MACC1 axis,while β_(2)-AR antagonist or MACC1 silencing could reverse it,showing promising potential therapeutic strategies for improving the outcome of GC patients with comorbid depression. | Changqie Pan Jianhua Wu Siting Zheng Huiying Sun Yisheng Fang Zhenhua Huang Min Shi Li Liang Jianping Bin Yulin Liao Jinzhang Chen Wangjun Liao | 2021 | Cancer Communications2021,41,10: | 4 |
| 7 | Heteroatom-doped porous carbon from methyl orange dye wastewater for oxygen reduction显示文摘Banana peel-derived porous carbon(BPPC) was prepared from banana peel and used as an adsorbent for methyl orange(MO) wastewater removal. BPPC-MO50 is a N,S-doped BPPC obtained via secondary carbonization. The BPPC-MO50 exhibited a high specific surface area of1774.3 m^2/g. Heteroatom-doped porous carbon(PC) was successfully synthesized from the BPPC absorbed MO at high temperature and used for oxygen reduction. The BPPC-MO50 displayed the highest ORR onset potential among all carbon-based electrocatalysts, i.e., 0.93 V vs.reversible hydrogen electrode(RHE). This is the first report to describe porous carbon-activated materials from agriculture and forestry waste that is used for adsorption of dyes from wastewater via an enhanced heteroatom(N,S) content. | 10 | Oxygen vacancies enriched nickel cobalt based nanoflower cathodes: Mechanism and application of the enhanced energy storage显示文摘The rational design of oxygen vacancies and electronic microstructures of electrode materials for energy storage devices still remains a challenge. Herein, we synthesize nickel cobalt-based oxides nanoflower arrays assembled with nanowires grown on Ni foam via the hydrothermal process followed annealing process in air and argon atmospheres respectively. It is found that the annealing atmosphere has a vital influence on the oxygen vacancies and electronic microstructures of resulting NiCo_(2)O_(4) (NCO-Air) and CoNiO_(2) (NCO-Ar) products, which NCO-Ar has more oxygen vacancies and larger specific surface area of 163.48 m^(2)/g. The density functional theory calculation reveals that more oxygen vacancies can provide more electrons to adsorb –OH free anions resulting in superior electrochemical energy storage performance. Therefore, the assembled asymmetric supercapacitor of NCO-Ar//active carbon delivers an excellent energy density of 112.52 Wh/kg at a power density of 558.73 W/kg and the fabricated NCO-Ar//Zn battery presents the specific capacity of 180.20 mAh/g and energy density of 308.14 Wh/kg. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the abirritation of fufang yimucao oral liquid on pain model mice induced by hot board method and acetic acid twist body method and dysmenorrhea model mice induced by estradiol. DESIGN: Entirely randomly grouping and control experiment. SETTING: Pharmacological Laboratory,Henan College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. MATERIALS: A total of 200 female Kunming genus mice of grade 2 and weighing 18-21 g were collected. METHODS: The experiment was carried out in the Animal Experiment Center of the Henan College of Traditional Chinese Medicine from August to November 2005. The high-,middle-and low-dosage fufang yimucao oral liquid in the experiment was 1,0.5 and 0.25 in volume fraction,respectively,and yimucao oral liquid was 0.5. ① Among 80 mice,60 mice were eligible in pain threshold tested by hot plate,and randomly dividing into 5 groups with 12 in each group. Mice in the high-,middle-and low-dose fufang yimucao oral liquid groups were perfused with 1 mL,0.5 mL and 0.25 mL/mL fufang yimucao,and mice in the yimucao group and saline group were perfused with the same volume yimucao oral liquid and saline,respectively,once a day for 3 successive days. Half an hour and one hour after administration for the last time,the range of pain was tested in hot plate and the increasing numerical value was counted. ② Another 60 mice were randomly divided into 5 groups. The grouping ways,numbers of animal and administration were as the same as those mentioned above. Mice in the 5 former groups were given synestrin tablets CMC suspension with the dose of 2 mg/kg,0.1 g/L and 0.2 mL/10 g once a day for 12 successive days. Ten days later,mice were administrated as the same ways and dosage mentioned above. Mice in blank control group were perfused with the same volume of saline. Two days after modeling and 40 minutes after administration,mice were injected with oxytocin to observe the latent period and the frequency of twisting reaction in 10 minutes. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Effect of fufang yimucao oral liquid on mice pain model induced by hot board method,twisting body response induced by acetic acid and mice dysmenorrhea model. RESULTS: ① Effect of fufang yimucao oral liquid on mice pain model induced by hot board: Thirty minutes after administration,the pain threshold of yimucao oral liquid group and high-,middle-and low-dose fufang yimucao oral liquid groups were respectively (25.42±2.10),(22.40±3.42),(25.24±2.51) and (19.80 ±2.00) s,which were markedly higher than saline group (17.98±1.68) s,P < 0.05-0.01. Sixty minutes after administration,the pain threshold of yimucao oral liquid group and high-,middle-and low-dose fufang yimucao oral liquid groups were respectively (27.42±2.17),(23.83±2.66),(27.64±2.64) and (21.51±2.41) s,which were markedly higher than saline group (17.8±1.75) s,P < 0.01. ② Effect of fufang yimucao oral liquid on twisting body response induced by celiac injecting acetic acid: The twisting body latent period of yimucao oral liquid group and high-,middle-and low-dose fufang yimucao oral liquid groups were respectively (2.43±0.19),(2.09±0.20),(2.60±0.14) and (1.85±0.35) s,which were markedly higher than saline group (1.45±0.22) s,P < 0.01. The twisting body times in 10 minutes of yimucao oral liquid group and high-,middle-and low-dose fufang yimucao oral liquid groups were respectively (14.8±4.0),(15.8± 3.5),(12.2±3.7) and (18.7±3.3) times,which were markedly lower than saline group (25.0±5.0) times,P < 0.01. ③ Effect of fufang yimucao oral liquid on mice dysmenorrhea model: After injecting estradiol,the twisting body latent period of yimucao oral liquid group and high-,middle-and low-dose fufang yimucao oral liquid groups were respectively (61.8±20.8),(105.8±29.8),(78.9±14.0) and (71.9±20.0) s,which were higher than the saline group (31.6±14.71) s,P < 0.01. The twisting body times in 10 minutes of yimucao oral liquid group and high-,middle-and low-dose fufang yimucao oral liquid groups were respectively (18.1±4.2),(9.5±2.8),(16.2±3.5) and (19.9±4.6) times,which were lower than the saline group (28.5±4.7) times,P < 0.01.
