| 1 | A journey to understand wheat Fusarium head blight resistance in the Chinese wheat landrace Wangshuibai显示文摘Fusarium head blight(FHB) or scab caused by Fusarium graminearum is a major threat to wheat production in China as well as in the world. To combat this disease, multiple efforts have been carried out internationally. In this article, we review our long-time effort in identifying the resistance genes and dissecting the resistance mechanisms by both forward and reverse genetics approaches in the last two decades. We present recent progress in resistance QTL identification, candidate functional gene discovery, marker-assisted improvement of FHB resistant varieties, and findings in investigating association of signal molecules, such as Ca^(++),SA, JA, and ET, with FHB response, with the assistance from rapidly growing genomics platforms. | 2 | Two VOZ transcription factors link an E3 ligase and an NLR immune receptor to modulate immunity in rice显示文摘Nucleotide-binding leucine-rich repeat(NLR)proteins play critical roles in plant immunity.However,how NLRs are regulated and activate defense signaling is not fully understood.The rice(Oryza sativa)NLR receptor Piz-t confers broad-spectrum resistance to the fungal pathogen Magnaporthe oryzae and the RING-type E3 ligase AVRPIZ-T INTERACTING PROTEIN 10(APIP10)negatively regulates Piz-t accumulation.In this study,we found that APIP10 interacts with two rice transcription factors,VASCULAR PLANT ONEZINC FINGER 1(OsVOZ1)and OsVOZ2,and promotes their degradation through the 26S proteasome pathway.OsVOZ1 displays transcriptional repression activity while OsVOZ2 confers transcriptional activation activity in planta.The osvoz1 and osvoz2 single mutants display modest but opposite M.oryzae resistance in the non-Piz-t background.However,the osvoz1 osvoz2 double mutant exhibits strong dwarfism and cell death,and silencing of both genes via RNA interference also leads to dwarfism,mild cell death,and enhanced resistance to M.oryzae in the non-Piz-t background.Both OsVOZ1 and OsVOZ2 interact with Piz-t.Double silencing of OsVOZ1 and OsVOZ2 in the Piz-t background decreases Piz-t protein accumulation and transcription,reactive oxygen species-dependent cell death,and resistance to M.oryzae containing AvrPiz-t.Taken together,these results indicate that OsVOZ1 and OsVOZ2 negatively regulate basal defense but contribute positively to Piz-t-mediated immunity. | Jiyang Wang Ruyi Wang Hong Fang Chongyang Zhang Fan Zhang Zeyun Hao Xiaoman You Xuetao Shi Chan Ho Park Kangyu Hua Feng He Maria Bellizzi Kieu Thi Xuan Vo Jong-Seong Jeon Yuese Ning Guo-Liang Wang | 2021 | Molecular Plant2021,14,2: | 8 |

| 8 | The occurrence of fatty acids in immature source rocks and their distribution characteristics显示文摘The fatty acids in extractable bitumen and kero-gen of immature source rocks of the Liaohe Basin and Jiyang sag were investigated in this study. The result showed that the bitumen fatty acids were mainly associated with non-hydrocarbon fraction and that the kerogen fatty acids with some tightly bound fatty acids were mainly bounded in a net structure of kerogen by ester bonds. For the investigated source rocks, the fatty acids in bitumen, bound fatty acids and tightly bound acids in kerogen ranged in 0.01% -0.073 9%, 0.005%-0.045 5% and 0.005%-0.010% respec-lively. Among the fatty acids analyzed in this study, mono-carboxylic acids, α, ω-di-carboxylic acids and hydroxy acids accounted for 70%-100%, 0%-30% and <10% respectively. It was also found that the mono-carboxylic acids with longer chains mainly existed in bitumen, and that the a, ω-di-carboxylic acids and hydroxy acids mainly existed in kerogen. | 13 | Simulation experiments for evolution of fatty acids in immature source rocks显示文摘The anhydrous, hydrous and bitumen-extracted simulations were carried out for the immature source rocks from the Liaohe sag. It has been shown from the result that with increasing temperature in simulation experiments, the fatty acids content decreased at first and then increased. The decrease of fatty acids in immature rocks is presumably related to alkanes generation in immature oils, whilst the increase may be related to the fact that some additional fatty acids are generated from kerogen and the tightly bound fatty acids in kerogen are released as bound fatty acids in kerogen and unbound fatty acids in bitumen. The fact that the bitumen generated from kerogen contains fatty acids has demonstrated that some bound and tightly bound fatty acids in kerogen can be transferred into bitumen. The preferential fatty acids in the immature source rocks are found to be mono-carboxylic acids with longer chains, whilst krogen contains relatively more di-carboxylic acids.
