1Toward a “Green Revolution” for Soybean显示文摘Soybean(Glycine max),as an economically important food and oilseedcrop,is a major source of plant proteins and oils.Although considerable progress has been made in increasing the yields of rice,wheat,and maize through the“Green Revolution”,little improvements have been made for soybean.With the increasing demand of soybean production and the rapid development of crop breeding technologies,time has come for this important crop to undergo a Green Revolution.Here,we briefly summarize the history of crop breeding and Green Revolution in other crops.We then discuss the possible directions and potential approaches toward achieving a Green Revolution for soybean.We provide our views and perspectives on how to breed new soybean varieties with improved yield.Shulin Liu Min Zhang Feng Feng Zhixi Tian 2020Molecular Plant2020,13,5:18
2Simultaneous changes in seed size, oil content and protein content driven by selection of SM/EEIhomologues during soybean domestication显示文摘Soybean accounts for more than half of the global production of oilseed and more than a quarter of the protein used globally for human food and animal feed.Soybean domestication involved parallel increases in seed size and oil content,and a concomitant decrease in protein content.However,science has not yet discovered whether these effects were due to selective pressure on a single gene or multiple genes.Here,re-sequencing data from>800 genotypes revealed a strong selection during soybean domestication on GmSWEETlOa.The selection of GmSWEETlOa conferred simultaneous increases in soybean-seed size and oil content as well as a reduction in the protein content.The result was validated using both near-isogenic lines carrying substitution of haplotype chromosomal segments and transgenic soybeans.Moreover,GmSWEETlOb was found to be functionally redundant with its homologue GmSWEETlOa and to be undergoing selection in current breeding,leading the the elite allele GrnSWEETlOb,a potential target for present-day soybean breeding.Both GmSWEETlOa and GmSWEETlOb were shown to transport sucrose and hexose,contributing to sugar allocation from seed coat to embryo,which consequently determines oil and protein contents and seed size in soybean.We conclude that past selection of optimal GmSWEETlOa alleles drove the initial domestication of multiple soybean-seed traits and that targeted selection of the elite allele GmSWEETlOb may further improve the yield and seed quality of modern soybean cultivars.Shoudong Wang Shulin Liu Jie Wang Kengo Yokosho Bin Zhou Ya-Chi Yu Zhi Liu Wolf BFrommer Jian Feng Ma Li-Qing Chen Yuefeng Guan Huixia Shou Zhixi Tian 2020National Science Review2020,7,11:17
3Label-free fiber nanograting sensor for real-time in situ early monitoring of cellular apoptosis显示文摘The achievement of functional nanomodules for subcellular label-free measurement has long been pursued in order to fully understand cellular functions.Here,a compact label-free nanosensor based on a fiber taper and zinc oxide nanogratings is designed and applied for the early monitoring of apoptosis in individual living cells.Because of its nanoscale dimensions,mechanical flexibility,and minimal cytotoxicity to cells,the sensing module can be loaded in cells for long term in situ tracking with high sensitivity.A gradual increase in the nuclear refractive index during the apoptosis process is observed,revealing the increase in molecular density and the decrease in cell volume.The strategy used in our study not only contributes to the understanding of internal environmental variations during cellular apoptosis but also provides a new platform for nonfluorescent fiber devices for investigation of cellular events and understanding fundamental cell biochemical engineering.Danran Li Nina Wang Tianyang Zhang Guangxing Wu Yifeng Xiong Qianqian Du Yunfei Tian Weiwei Zhao Jiandong Ye Shulin Gu Yanqing Lu Dechen Jiang Fei Xu 2022Advanced Photonics2022,4,1:5

15Two flexible cationic metal-organic frameworks with remarkable stability for CO_(2)/CH4 separation显示文摘Cationic azole-based metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)with remarkable stability and unique pore environment have aroused great research interests.Meanwhile,flexible MOFs which can undergo pore-structure changes upon exposure to external stimuli are ideal materials for gas separation.However,introducing flexibility into the framework of cationic azole-based MOFs is rarely reported.Herein,we synthesized two stable isomorphic cationic MOFs(M-btz-as,M=Co,Ni)based on a linear azole ligand.After activated at high temperature under vacuum,M-btz-ht(M=Co,Ni)were obtained and both MOFs exhibited flexible features in which Co-btz is more flexible than Ni-btz.Different solvent-mediated activation methods were employed to explore their effects on structural flexibility and produced MOFs with different phases.Continuous phase transformation of Co-btz-e was verified by powder X-ray diffraction.In addition,these MOF phases possessed different gas separation abilities affected by their flexible frameworks,and Co-btz-ht exhibited the highest CO_(2)/CH4 separation ability.Shulin Li Shilin Zeng Yuyang Tian Xiaofei Jing Fuxing Sun Guangshan Zhu 2021Nano Research2021,14,9:1
