| 1 | Risk factors of CMV infection in patients after umbilical cord blood transplantation: a multicenter study in China显示文摘Objective:This retrospective study examined risk factors for cytomegalovirus(CMV)infection after umbilical cord blood transplantation(UCBT)and the impact of CMV infection on patient survival.Methods:In all 176 patients,plasma CMV DNA was negative prior to the transplantation,and examined twice a week for 100 d,and then once weekly for additional 300 d.Preemptive antiviral therapy(ganciclovir or foscarnet)was started in patients with>1,000/mL copies of CMV DNA but no full-blown CMV disease,and was discontinued upon two consecutive negative reports of blood CMV DNA test.The survival and risk factors for CMV infection or disease were examined using logistic regression.Results:CMV infection developed in 71%(125/176)of the patients,with a median onset of 32 d.Four patients(2.3%)developed CMV disease.Neither the 5-year overall survival(OS)nor event-free survival(EFS)differed significantly in infected patients vs.those with no infection(59.4%vs.64.8%,P=0.194;53.4%vs.59.1%,P=0.226).A stepwise multivariate analysis indicated an association of CMV infection with age,high-dose glucocorticoids,the number of transplanted CD34+cells,and the number of platelet transfusion,but not with gender,the conditioning regimen,and the day of neutrophil recovery and chronic graft-versushost disease(cGVHD).Conclusions:CMV infection is very common after UCBT,but does not seem to affect long-term survival with preemptive antiviral treatment. | Juan Tong Zimin Sun Huilan Liu Liangquan Geng Changcheng Zheng Baolin Tang Kaidi Song Wen Yao Xin Liu | 2013 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2013,25,6: | 8 |

| 3 | Chinese patent medicine for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease based on principles of tonifying Qi, promoting blood circulation by removing blood stasis, and resolving phlegm: a systematic review of randomized controlled trials显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To assess the efficacy and safety of Chinese patent medicine(CPM) with the principle of tonifying Qi, promoting blood circulation by removing blood stasis, and resolving phlegm(TQ-PBC-RP)in the management of stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD).METHODS: A systematic review of randomized controlled trials(RCTs) identified from electronic databases and print was conducted. RCTs testing CPMs with TQ-PBC-RP against any type of controlled intervention in patients with stable COPD and assessing clinically relevant outcomes were included. Methodological quality was evaluated with the risk of bias tool according to systematic review handbook 5.0.2. Quality of evidence was estimatedby the rating approach developed by the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development,and Evaluation Working Group.RESULTS: Thirteen eligible RCTs with 12 oral CPMs were tested. Significant differences between groups in favor of CPMs were not reported in all trials. Most trials included were deemed to be of low methodological quality with poor evidence quality.Because of large data heterogeneity, statistical pooling was not performed for all outcomes.CONCLUSION: The effectiveness of CPM in the treatment of stable COPD is not supported by evidence. Currently, evidence from RCTs is scarce and methodologically weak. | 7 | Insight into the microstructural evolution of anthracite during carbonization-graphitization process from the perspective of materialization显示文摘Materialization of coal is one of effective and clean pathways for its utilization. The microstructures of coal-based carbon materials have an important influence on their functional applications. Herein, the microstructural evolution of anthracite in the temperature range of 1000–2800 ℃ was systematically investigated to provide a guidance for the microstructural regulation of coal-based carbon materials.The results indicate that the microstructure of anthracite undergoes an important change during carbonization-graphitization process. As the temperature increases, aromatic layers in anthracite gradually transform into disordered graphite microcrystals and further grow into ordered graphite microcrystals, and then ordered graphite microcrystals are laterally linked to form pseudo-graphite phase and eventually transformed into highly ordered graphite-like sheets. In particular, 2000–2200 ℃ is a critical temperature region for the qualitative change of ordered graphite crystallites to pseudo-graphite phase,in which the relevant structural parameters including stacking height, crystallite lateral size and graphitization degree show a rapid increase. Moreover, both aromaticity and graphitization degree have a linear positive correlation with carbonization-graphitization temperature in a specific temperature range.Besides, after initial carbonization, some defect structures in anthracite such as aliphatic carbon and oxygen-containing functional groups are released in the form of gaseous low-molecular volatiles along with an increased pore structure, and the intermediates derived from minerals could facilitate the conversion of sp^(3) amorphous carbon to sp^(2) graphitic carbon. | 12 | Maternal and burial environment determine the physical dormancy release in tropical Senna auriculata(Fabaceae) seeds显示文摘In tropical ecosystems,species with an impermeable seed coat,i.e.physical dormancy(PY),are large in number and their seed coat is considered to be an adaptive trait for species persistence and colonization.However,only little is known about their mechanisms for breaking dormancy.The objective of this study was to understand the importance of seed maturation site and burial location in determining the PY release of Senna auriculata.Freshly collected seeds of S.auriculata from Vellore and Coimbatore,Tamil Nadu,India,germinated to 11±1.5%and19±2.5%respectively and remaining seeds did not imbibe water,thus had PY.Germination of seeds from both sites following hot-water treatment for 30 s and mechanical scarification increased significantly and seeds were able to germinate at a wide-range of temperatures(5–35℃)both in light and darkness.When incubated at 15/60℃for 3 months,dormancy release for seeds collected from Coimbatore(72%)was greater than seeds matured in Vellore(53%).Following 1 year of burial at three different locations,seeds from Coimbatore germinated to higher percentage than Vellore seeds at all locations.In particular,the higher temperature sites released dormancy to greater extent than the lower temperature site.Our results suggest that summer temperatures(>60℃)prevailing in the tropics provide appropriate cues for breaking PY,but this could be greatly affected by the initial state of seeds and the burial environment. | Ganesh K.Jaganathan Yingying Han Danping Song Panner Selvam Baolin Liu | 2019 | Journal of Forestry Research2019,30,4: | 0 |

| 16 | Effects of nanoparticles on devitrification and recrystallization of aqueous glycerol and PEG-600 solutions显示文摘Nanoparticles in solution offer unique electrical,mechanical and thermal properties due to their physical presence and interaction with the state of dispersion.This work is aimed to study the effects of hydroxyapatite(HA)nanoparticles on the behavior of devitrification and recrystallization of glycerol(60%w/w)and PEG-600(50%w/w)solutions during warming.HA nanoparticles of different sizes(20,40,60 nm)and concentrations(0.1%,0.5%,w/w)were incorporated into solutions,and were studied by calorimetric analysis coupled with cryomicroscopy.The presence of HA nanoparticles has little effect on the devitrification end temperatures,but affects the devitrification onset temperatures of glycerol and PEG-600 solutions.The investigation with the cryomicroscope observed that the ice morphologies of glycerol and PEG-600 solutions are dendritic and spheric respectively.The ice fraction of glycerol solution containing 0.1%HA with the size of 60 nm decreased to 2/5 of that of the solution without nanoparticles at 45°C.The ice fractions of PEG-600 solutions increased significantly between 64°C and54°C,and the ice fraction of PEG-600 solution without nanoparticles increased by 92%within the temperature range.The findings have significant implications for biomaterial cryopreservation,cryosurgery,and food manufacturing.The complexity of ice crystal growth kinetics in nanoparticle-containing solutions awaits further study. | LV FuKou LIU BaoLin LI WeiJie SONG XiaoYan | 2014 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2014,57,2: | 0 |
| 17 | Effects of pollution on individual size of a single species显示文摘In this paper,we develop a single species evolutionary model with a continuous phenotypic trait in a pulsed pollution discharge environment and discuss the effects of pollution on the individual size of the species.The invasion fitness function of a moiiomorphic species is given,which involves the long-term average exponential growth rate of the species. | 18 | Galectin-7 overexpression destroys airway epithelial barrier in transgenic mice显示文摘When the integrity of airway epithelium is destroyed,the ordered airway barrier no longer exists and increases sensitivity to viral infections and allergens,leading to the occurrence of airway inflammation such as asthma.Here,we found that galectin-7 transgenic(+)mice exhibited abnormal airway structures as embryos and after birth.These abnormalities included absent or substantially reduced pseudostratified columnar ciliated epithelium and increased monolayer cells with irregular arrangement and widening of intercellular spaces.Moreover,airway tissue from galectin-7 transgenic(+)mice showed evidence of impaired cell–cell junctions and decreased expression of zonula occludens-1(ZO-1)and E-cadherin.When treated with respiratory syncytial virus(RSV)or ovalbumin(OVA),galectin-7 transgenic(+)mice developed substantially increased bronchial epithelial detachment and apoptosis,airway smooth muscle and basement membrane thickening,and enhanced airway responsiveness.We found that Galectin-7 localized in the cytoplasm and nucleus of bronchial epithelial cells,and that increased apoptosis was mediated through mitochondrial release of cytochrome c and upregulated JNK1 activation and expression of caspase-3 in galectin-7 Tg(+)mice.These findings suggested that Galectin-7 causes airway structural defects and destroys airway epithelium barrier,which predispose the airways to RSV or OVA-induced epithelial apoptosis,injury,and other asthma responses. | Jing TIAN Ruxuan HE Yimu FAN Qianqian ZHANG Baolin TIAN Chunju ZHOU Chunyan LIU Mingjing SONG Shunying ZHAO | 2021 | Integrative Zoology2021,16,2: | 0 |
