2Gradient Effect on Farmers' Income in the Mountain Areas and its Implication for Poverty Alleviation Strategies:Empirical Analysis from the Upper Reach of Minjiang River,China显示文摘Using four types of settlements in the upper reach of Minjiang River as case,we establish structural models in farmers' income of different settlement patterns based on rural household panel data to reveal the gradient effect on farmers' income and determinants.The results indicate that:(1) except the resettlement area,the incomes for farmers living in river valley,semi-mountain,and high-mountain settlements present a decreasing trend with the elevation increasing;on the contrary,their nonfarm earnings show an increasing trend with the elevation decreasing;(2) from the effect on farmers' income,there is a common feature that the nonfarm earnings and farming incomes have significant positive effects,and family size and productive expenditure have significant negative effects.One exception to this is the productive expenditure,which becomes insignificant in the model of resettlement area;(3) from the way of increasing farmers' income and alleviating poverty,there are great differences for four types of settlements in mountain areas,however,the improvement of agricultural product sales,agricultural production subsidies,the expansion for nonfarm employment,and the control of the family's size are the most effective approaches for poverty alleviation.FANG Yiping FAN Jie SHEN Maoying SONG Mengqiang 2012Journal of Mountain Science2012,9,6:7
3Ultrasensitive magnetic field sensor based on an in-fiber Mach–Zehnder interferometer with a magnetic fluid component显示文摘An ultrasensitive magnetic field sensor based on a compact in-fiber Mach–Zehnder interferometer(MZI) created in twin-core fiber(TCF) is proposed, and its performance is experimentally demonstrated. A section of TCF was spliced between two sections of standard single-mode fibers, and then a microchannel was drilled through one core of the TCF by means of femtosecond laser micromachining. The TCF with one microchannel was then immersed in a water-based Fe_3O_4 magnetic fluid(MF), forming a direct component of the light propagation path,and then sealed in a capillary tube, achieving a magnetic sensing element, which merges the advantages of an MZI with an MF. Experiments were conducted to investigate the magnetic response of the proposed sensor. The developed magnetic field sensor exhibits a linear response within a measurement range from 5 to 9.5 m T and an ultrahigh sensitivity of 20.8 nm/m T, which, to our best knowledge, is 2 orders of magnitude greater than other previously reported magnetic sensors. 4Progressive paradoxical sleep deprivation impairs partial memory following learning tasks in rats显示文摘BACKGROUND: Complex learning tasks result in a greater number of paradoxical sleep phases, which can improve memory. The effect of paradoxical sleep deprivation, induced by 'flower pot' technique, on spatial reference memory and working memory require further research. OBJECTIVE: To observe the effect of progressive paradoxical sleep deprivation in rats, subsequent to learning, on memory using the Morris Water Maze. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: Controlled observation experiment. The experiment was performed at the Laboratory of Neurobiology, Department of Anatomy, Histology and Embryology, School of Basic Medical Sciences, Lanzhou University from December 2006 to October 2007. MATERIALS: Twenty-eight, male, Wistar rats, 3-4 months old, were provided by the Experimental Animal Center of Lanzhou University. The Morris Water Maze and behavioral analyses system was purchased from Genheart Company, Beijing, China. METHODS: All animals, according to a random digits table, were randomly divided into paradoxical sleep deprivation, tank control, and home cage control groups. Paradoxical sleep deprivation was induced by the 'flower pot' technique for 72 hours, housing the rats on small platforms over water. Rats in the 'tank control' and 'home cage control' groups were housed either in a tank with large platforms over the water or in normal cages without paradoxical sleep deprivation. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Morris Water Maze was employed for task learning and spatial memory testing. Rats in all groups were placed at six random starting points each day for four consecutive days. Each placement was repeated for two trials; the first trial represented reference memory and the second working memory. Rats in the first trial were allowed to locate the submerged platform within 120 seconds. Data, including swimming distance, escape latency, swimming velocity, percentage of time in correct quarter, and memory scores were recorded and analyzed automatically by behavioral analyses systems for Morris Water Maze. RESULTS: Twenty-eight rats were included in the final analysis, without any loss. In the first trial, between day 2 and 4, escape latency and swimming distance increased significantly in the paradoxical sleep deprivation group compared to the home cage control and tank control groups (P < 0.01); percentage of time in correct quarter and memory scores, however, decreased in the paradoxical sleep deprivation group compared to the home cage control and tank control groups (P < 0.01). The escape latency, swimming distance, percentage of time in correct quarter, and memory scores in the second trial was not significantly different among the three groups (P > 0.05). 5Two Ultraviolet Radiation Datasets that Cover China显示文摘Ultraviolet(UV) radiation has significant effects on ecosystems, environments, and human health, as well as atmospheric processes and climate change. Two ultraviolet radiation datasets are described in this paper. One contains hourly observations of UV radiation measured at 40 Chinese Ecosystem Research Network stations from 2005 to 2015. CUV3 broadband radiometers were used to observe the UV radiation, with an accuracy of 5%, which meets the World Meteorology Organization's measurement standards. The extremum method was used to control the quality of the measured datasets. The other dataset contains daily cumulative UV radiation estimates that were calculated using an all-sky estimation model combined with a hybrid model. The reconstructed daily UV radiation data span from 1961 to 2014. The mean absolute bias error and root-mean-square error are smaller than 30% at most stations, and most of the mean bias error values are negative, which indicates underestimation of the UV radiation intensity. These datasets can improve our basic knowledge of the spatial and temporal variations in UV radiation. 11CP embedding agent and its application to the serial section of the body wall tissue of insects显示文摘The key of tissue section technique is the selection and application of the embedding agent. Based on the specific characteristics of the tissue and outer skeleton of insects, a new kind of embedding agent, colophony and paraffin (CP), was used without destroying the integrity of insect organs. The tissue can be sliced continuously by the use of CP embedding technique. It solves the 3 difficult problems in the serial section of the organ and tissue of insect, namely stiff materials, thin section and continuity of sections. These difficult problems are not solved by any unitary tissue section technique that is used now, including the paraffin section technique. By using the CP embedding technique, any parts or organs (like antenna, leg and wing) and even the whole body of insects (mini body) can be sliced up continuously. 17Hierarchical Bi/S-modified Cu/brass mesh used as structured highly performance catalyst for CO_(2) electroreduction to formate显示文摘Electrocatalytic CO_(2) reduction reaction(ECO_(2)RR)converts CO_(2) to high-value chemical products and promotes the carbon cycle.Sulfur(S)-modified copper(Cu)and bismuth(Bi)-based catalysts have been recognized as promising catalysts for ECO_(2)RR.Both of them are highly active for selective formate generation,however,their poor stability and severe competing hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)remain challenging.Herein,S-doped Cu coated with Bi(Bi/Cu-S)is developed to improve ECO_(2)RR selectivity to formate.Bi/Cu-S/brass mesh(BM)electrode material for ECO_(2)RR was prepared by electrodepositing Bi on the surface of Cu-S/BM nanowires obtained from CuS/BM after the electroreduction.The Faradaic efficiency(FE)of the formate reaches the maximum of 94.3%at-0.9 V vs.reversible hydrogen electrode(RHE)with a partial current density as high as-50.7 mA·cm^(-2) and a yield of 30.7 mmol·h^(-1)·cm^(-2) under 0.5 M KHCO_(3) electrolyte.Meanwhile,the FE of formate is higher than 90%in the voltage range of-0.8 to-1.0 V vs.RHE.It also shows good stability at-0.9 V vs.RHE with the FE of formate remaining above 93%after a 10 h reaction.Density functional theory(DFT)calculations demonstrate that the Bi/Cu-S structure promotes the adsorption of CO_(2) and effectively inhibits HER by enhancing the adsorption of^(*)H to a great extent,improving the selective conversion of CO_(2) to formate.This work deepens the understanding of the mechanism of Cu-Bi-based catalysts and S-modified Cu-based catalysts in selective ECO_(2)RR to formate,and also provides a new strategy for catalyst design.Tong Dou Dian Song Yiping Wang Xuhui Zhao Fazhi Zhang Xiaodong Lei 2024Nano Research2024,17,5:0
18Magnesium alloys for orthopedic applications:A review on the mechanisms driving bone healing显示文摘Magnesium(Mg) alloys have attracted a wealth of attention in orthopedic fields for their superior mechanical properties, degradability,and excellent biocompatibility. Consistently, to resolve the issues on rapid degradation, more studies are dedicated to the researches on the composition design, preparation and processing, surface modification, the degradation modes of Mg alloys. Nevertheless, the mechanisms by which Mg alloys promote bone healing remain elusive. This review gives an account of specific mechanisms on Mg alloys promoting bone healing from four aspects, immunomodulatory, angiogenesis, osteogenesis and regulation of osteoclast function. We highlight the regulation of Mg alloys on the functional status and interactions of numerous cells that are involved in bone healing, including immune cells, osteogenicrelated cells, osteoclasts, endothelial cells(ECs), nerve cells, etc., and summarize the signaling pathways involved, with the aim to provide the basis and support on future investigation on mechanisms on Mg alloys driving bone regeneration. 19Population genetics and forensic efficiency of 30 InDel markers in four Chinese ethnic groups residing in Sichuan显示文摘Sichuan Province is located at the transitional junction regions of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and the low-altitude plains.It also serves as the corridor of Sino Tibetan-speaking population migration and expansion since neolithic expansion of Proto-Tibeto-Burman populations from Middle/Upper Yellow River during Majiayao period(3300-2000 BC).However,the population structure and the corresponding genetic diversity of forensic-related markers in this region remain unclear.Thus,we genotyped 30 insertion-deletion(InDel)markers in 444 samples from four ethnic groups(Han,Tibetan,Hui and Yi)from Sichuan Province using the Investigator■ DIPplex kit to explore the characteristics of population genetics and forensic genetic focuses.All the loci were found to be in Hardy-Weinberg Equlibrium(HWE)after applying a Bonferroni correction and no pairwise loci showed prominent linkage disequilibrium.The combined matching probability(CMP)and the combined power of discrimination(CPD)are larger than 1.8089×10^(11)and 0.9999999995,respectively.Principal component analysis,multi-dimen-sional scaling plots and Neighbour-Joining tree among 65 worldwide populations indicated that Sichuan Hui and Han are genetically close to Hmong-Mien and Tai-Kadai-speaking popula-tions,and Sichuan Tibetan and Yi bear a strong genetic affinity with Tibeto-Burman-speaking populations.The model-based genetic structure further supports the genetic affinity between the studied populations and linguistically close populations.Fei Wang Guanglin He Zheng Wang Mengge Wang Jing Liu Xing Zou Shouyu Wang Mengyuan Song Ziwei Ye Mingkun Xie Yiping Hou 2022Forensic Sciences Research2022,7,3:0
20Identification of the Mislabeled Breast Cancer Samples by Mitochondrial DNA Haplotyping显示文摘The task to identify whether an archival malignant tumor specimen had been mislabeled or interchanged is a challenging one for forensic genetic&The nuclear DNA(nDNA)markers were affected by the aberration of tumor cells,so they were not suitable for personal identification when the tumor tissues were tested.In this study,we focused on a new solution-mitochondrial single nucleotide polymorphism(mtSNP)haplotyping by a multiplex SNaPshot assay.To validate our strategy of haplotyping with 25 mtSNPs,we analyzed 15 pairs of cancerous/healthy tissues taken from patients with ductal breast carcinoma.The haplotypes of all the fifteen breast cancer tissues were matched with their paired breast tissues.The heteroplasmy at 2 sites,14783A/G and 16519C/T was observed in one breast tissue,which indicated a mixture of related mitochondrial haplotypes.However,only one haplotype was retained in the paired breast cancer tissue,which could be considered the result of proliferation of tumor subclone.The allele drop-out and allele drop-in were observed when 39 STRs and 20 tri-allelic SNPs of nDNA were applied.Compared to nDNA markers applied,25 mtSNPs were more stable without interference from aberrance of breast cancer.Also,two cases were presented where the investigation of haplotype with 25 mtSNPs was used to prove the origin of biopsy specimen with breast cancer.The mislabeling of biopsy specimen with breast cancer could be certified in one case but could not be supported in the other case.We highlight the importance of stability of mtSNP haplotype in breast cancer.It was implied that our multiplex SNaPshot assay with 25 mtSNPs was a useful strategy to identify mislabeled breast cancer specimen.Xiaogang Chen Di Lu Ji Zhang Feng Song Haibo Luo Zheng Ren Wei Wei Yiping Hou 2015Journal of Forensic Science and Medicine2015,1,2:0
