1Exploring Seasonal and Circadian Rhythms in Structural Traits of Field Maize from LiDAR Time Series显示文摘Plant growth rhythm in structural traits is important for better understanding plant response to the ever-changing environment.Terrestrial laser scanning(TLS)is a well-suited tool to study structural rhythm under field conditions.Recent studies have used TLS to describe the structural rhythm of trees,but no consistent patterns have been drawn.Meanwhile,whether TLS can capture structural rhythm in crops is unclear.Here,we aim to explore the seasonal and circadian rhythms in maize structural traits at both the plant and leaf levels from time-series TLS.The seasonal rhythm was studied using TLS data collected at four key growth periods,including jointing,bell-mouthed,heading,and maturity periods.Circadian rhythms were explored by using TLS data acquired around every 2 hours in a whole day under standard and cold stress conditions.Results showed that TLS can quantify the seasonal and circadian rhythm in structural traits at both plant and leaf levels.(1)Leaf inclination angle decreased significantly between the jointing stage and bell-mouthed stage.Leaf azimuth was stable after the jointing stage.(2)Some individual-level structural rhythms(e.g.,azimuth and projected leaf area/PLA)were consistent with leaf-level structural rhythms.(3)The circadian rhythms of some traits(e.g.,PLA)were not consistent under standard and cold stress conditions.(4)Environmental factors showed better correlations with leaf traits under cold stress than standard conditions.Temperature was the most important factor that significantly correlated with all leaf traits except leaf azimuth.This study highlights the potential of time-series TLS in studying outdoor agricultural chronobiology.Shichao Jin Yanjun Su Yongguang Zhang Shilin Song Qing Li Zhonghua Liu Qin Ma Yan Ge LingLi Liu Yanfeng Ding Frédéric Baret Qinghua Guo 2021Plant Phenomics2021,3,1:5
2Clonogenic colony-forming ability of hepatic stem cells in the spleens of mice显示文摘To confirm the existence of hepatic stem cells (HSCs), fetal liver cells isolated from mice on embryonic day 13 (ED13) were long-term cultured in vitro. Growth of the cells was observed intensively and characteristics were iden-tified by immunocytochemistry. The results showed that some of the cells grew as colonies, in which some cells ex-pressed AFP, CD34 and Albumin. Then the cells were trans-planted intravenously into irradiated syngeneic mice. At day 12 a number of small hyperplasia nodules were seen in the apparently enlarged spleens of recipient mice. 3Dual synergetic catalytic effects boost hydrogen electric oxidation performance of Pd/W_(18)O_(49)显示文摘Developing anode catalysts of substantially enhanced activity for hydrogen oxidation reaction(HOR)and anti-CO poisoning performance is of great importance for the application of proton exchange membrane fuel cells(PEMFCs).Herein,we report Pd cluster in situ decorated urchin-like W_(18)O_(49)(WO_(2.72))electrocatalysts by a photo-reduction method for high performance HOR.The synthesized Pd-WO_(2.72)-L composite of low loading amount of 0.44 wt.%Pd by Xenon light reduction exhibits markedly high HOR catalytic activity and stability in 0.5 M H_(2)SO_(4),and the specific HOR current density and mass activity of Pd-WO_(2.72)-L are~1.5 and~80 times those of 20 wt.%Pt/C catalyst,respectively.Moreover,excellent anti-CO poisoning ability has also been obtained.The excellent HOR activity and anti-CO poisoning performance of Pd-WO_(2.72)-L have been discussed mainly in terms of the dual synergetic catalytic effects between Pd and WO_(2.72):Pd activation to Pd^(δ+)by the electron transfer from Pd to W promotes the hydrogen adsorption and activation to H*species,which results in largely elevated HOR activity;Pd degradation due to the CO poisoning is effectively prevented by WO_(2.72),which is responsible for the excellent CO-tolerance performance.Lingxin Peng Han Tian Xiangzhi Cui Liang Su Ge Meng Zhonghua Ma Shaowen Cao Jianlin Shi 2021Nano Research2021,14,7:2

6Phenylpropanoid metabolism and pigmentation show divergent patterns between brown color and green color cottons as revealed by metabolic and gene expression analyses显示文摘Background:Naturally-colored cotton has become increasingly popular because of their natural properties of coloration,UV protection,flame retardant,antibacterial activity and mildew resistance.But poor fiber quality and limited color choices are two key issues that have restricted the cultivation of naturally-colored cotton.To identify the possible pathways participating in fiber pigmentation in naturally-colored cottons,five colored cotton accessions in three different color types(with green,brown and white fiber)were chosen for a comprehensive analysis of phenylpropanoid metabolism during fiber development.Results:The expression levels of flavonoid biosynthesis pathway genes in brown cotton fibers were significantly higher than those in white and green cotton fibers.Total flavonoids and proanthocyanidin were higher in brown cotton fibers relative to those in white and green cotton fibers,which suggested that the flavonoid biosynthesis pathway might not participate in the pigmentation of green cotton fibers.Further expression analysis indicated that the genes encoding enzymes for the synthesis of caffeic acid derivatives,lignin and lignan were activated in the developing fibers of the green cotton at 10 and 15 days post-anthesis.Conclusions:Our results strengthen the understanding of phenylpropanoid metabolism and pigmentation in green and brown cotton fibers,and may improve the breeding of naturally-colored cottons.LI Zhonghua SU Qian XU Mingqi YOU Jiaqi KHAN Anam Qadir LI Junyi ZHANG Xianlong TU Lili YOU Chunyuan 2020Journal of Cotton Research2020,3,4:1

14A 10kW-scale Distributed Power Plant of Natural Gas-Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell显示文摘A 10 kW-scale natural gas fueled proton exchange membrane fuel cell(PEMFC) distributed power plant is presented in this paper,which is designed for cogeneration of power and heat. With homemade catalysts for CO removal in a two-stage methanation process and integrated reactor in the fuel processing system,the reformed fuel with CO molar fraction less than 10-5 is obtained for the fuel cell stack. Based on Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow and xPC Target platform,a rapid control prototype(RCP) is developed for real-time condition management,signal tracking and parameter tuning,data storing,and man-machine interaction. In a typical running with 4.3 kW stack power,the hydrogen production efficiency,gross power generation efficiency and heat recovery efficiency approach to 76%,41% and 50%,respectively. The peak stack power reaches 7.3 kW. 15Allometry-based estimation of forest aboveground biomass combining LiDAR canopy height attributes and optical spectral indexes显示文摘Accurate estimates of forest aboveground biomass(AGB)are essential for global carbon cycle studies and have widely relied on approaches using spectral and structural information of forest canopies extracted from various remote sensing datasets.However,combining the advantages of active and passive data sources to improve estimation accuracy remains challenging.Here,we proposed a new approach for forest AGB modeling based on allometric relationships and using the form of power-law to integrate structural and spectral information.Over 60 km^(2) of drone light detection and ranging(LiDAR)data and 1,370 field plot measurements,covering the four major forest types of China(coniferous forest,sub-tropical broadleaf forest,coniferous and broadleaf-leaved mixed forest,and tropical broadleaf forest),were collected together with Sentinel-2 images to evaluate the proposed approach.The results show that the most universally useful structural and spectral metrics are the average values of canopy height and spectral index rather than their maximum values.Compared with structural attributes used alone,combining structural and spectral information can improve the estimation accuracy of AGB,increasing R^(2) by about 10%and reducing the root mean square error by about 22%;the accuracy of the proposed approach can yield a R^(2) of 0.7 in different forests types.The proposed approach performs the best in coniferous forest,followed by sub-tropical broadleaf forest,coniferous and broadleaf-leaved mixed forest,and then tropical broadleaf forest.Furthermore,the simple linear regression used in the proposed method is less sensitive to sample size and outperforms statistically multivariate machine learning-based regression models such as stepwise multiple regression,artificial neural networks,and Random Forest.The proposed approach may provide an alternative solution to map large-scale forest biomass using space-borne LiDAR and optical images with high accuracy.Qiuli Yang Yanjun Su Tianyu Hu Shichao Jin Xiaoqiang Liu Chunyue Niu Zhonghua Liu Maggi Kelly Jianxin Wei Qinghua Guo 2022Forest Ecosystems2022,9,5:0
16Characteristics of the Variation of Cross Fault Short-Baseline and Short-Range Leveling in Western Yunnan Earthquake Test Site Before Lijiang M_S7.0 Earthquake显示文摘Results of analysis of variation of cross fault short-baseline and short-range leveling in Western Yunnan Earthquake Test Site (WYETS), results show that among five observation stations of cross fault short-baseline and short-range leveling in WYETS before the Lijiang MS7.0 Earthquake occurred in February 1996 only Yongsheng observation station (epicentral distance 82 km) located at Chenghai fault shows great variation about one year before the earthquake. And the nearest observation station, Lijiang (epicentral distance 42 km); presents great coseismic variation, but does not show obvious anomalous variation before the earthquake. There are no significant variations related to the earthquake at the other three observation stations. 18Genetic mapping and identification of Lg^(f) loci controlling green fuzz in Upland cotton(Gossypium hirsutum L.)显示文摘Naturally colored cotton fiber is environment-friendly but has monotonous color and poor fiber quality.Identification of green fiber or fuzz genes would aid in investigating the biosynthesis of green pigments in cotton fibers. In this study, we established a mapping population and found that the Lg^(f) trait(white lint and green fuzz) from Gossypium hirsutum race latifolium is controlled by an incompletely dominant gene.The Lg^(f) locus was mapped to a 71-kb interval on chromosome 21 containing seven genes, including a transcription factor with similarity to Arabidopsis MYB9. Harboring 13 SNPs and a 4-bp insertion/deletion in its promoter, GhMYB9 was highly up-regulated in the critical period for green pigment development in fuzz. Virus-induced gene silencing of GhMYB9 in a green-fuzz accession of G. hirsutum race latifolium TX-41 conferred white or light green fuzz.
