1Anti-ulcerogenic activity of aqueous extract of Carica papaya seed on indomethacin-induced peptic ulcer in male albino rats显示文摘OBJECTIVE: Carica papaya is an important fruit with its seeds used in the treatment of ulcer in Nigeria. This study investigated the anti-ulcerogenic and antioxidant activities of aqueous extract of Carica papaya seed against indomethacin-induced peptic ulcer in male rats.METHODS: Thirty male rats were separated into 6 groups(A–F) of five rats each. For 14 d before ulcer induction with indomethacin, groups received once daily oral doses of vehicle(distilled water), cimetidine 200 mg/kg body weight(BW), or aqueous extract of C. papaya seed at doses of 100, 150 or 200 mg/kg BW(groups A, B, C, D, E and F, respectively). Twenty-four hours after the last treatment, groups B, C, D, E and F were treated with 100 mg/kg BW of indomethacin to induce ulcer formation. RESULTS: Carica papaya seed extract significantly(P<0.05) increased gastric p H and percentage of ulcer inhibition relative to indomethacin-induced ulcer rats. The extract significantly(P<0.05) decreased gastric acidity, gastric acid output, gastric pepsin secretion, ulcer index and gastric secretion volume relative to group B. These results were similar to that achieved by pretreatment with cimetidine. Specific activities of superoxide dismutase, catalase, glutathione peroxidase, glutathione reductase and glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase in the extract-treated groups(D, E and F) were increased significantly over the group B(P<0.05). Pretreatment with the seed extract protected rats from the indomethacin-mediated decrease in enzyme function experienced by the group B. Similarly, indomethacin-mediated decrease in reduced glutathione level and indomethacin-mediated increase in malondialdehyde were reversed by Carica papaya extract. 2电子垃圾拆解区胎儿出生前铅、镉暴露对新生儿生长发育的影响显示文摘目的:探讨电子垃圾拆解区铅、镉的宫内暴露对新生儿出生体质量、胎龄的影响。方法:石墨炉原子吸收光谱法检测贵屿镇及汕头市第三人民医院妇产科(对照组)261名新生儿胎盘中铅、镉浓度;以及相关影响因素问卷的调查。结果:贵屿镇新生儿胎盘铅浓度中位数为399.9ng/g,镉96.6ng/g;对照组为421.0ng/g和20.9ng/g;胎盘中铅、镉浓度与胎龄成正相关;胎盘中镉浓度与新生儿出生体质量负相关;胎盘中镉浓度与母亲怀孕期间住所是否同时为工作场所、厨房燃料和豆乳制品消耗相关。结论:电子垃圾拆解区铅、镉宫内暴露会增加新生儿的胎龄,镉的宫内暴露会减轻新生儿的出生体质量,表明宫内铅、镉暴露会影响胎儿的生长发育。邱少汕 霍霞 刘俊晓 李斌 Yekeen Taofeek Akangbe 张浴玲 徐锡金 2012汕头大学医学院学报2012,25,3:3

4玫瑰茄提取物对Wistar大鼠肾Na^+-K^+-ATP酶及Ca^(2+)-Mg^(2+)-ATP酶活性的影响(英文)显示文摘目的:研究口服玫瑰茄水提取物对大鼠肾 Na+-K+-ATP酶和Ca2+ -Mg2+-ATP酶活性的影响。方法:连续28d分别给予实验大鼠口服25和50mg/kg的玫瑰茄水提物,同时给予对照组大鼠灌胃适当剂量的蒸馏水。用光谱测定法分析大鼠肾脏中 Na+-K+-ATP酶和Ca2+-Mg2+-ATP酶的活性。结果:口服25和50mg/kg的玫瑰茄提取物后,实验组大鼠肾Ca2+-Mg2+-ATP酶活性显著降低(P<0.05),然而肾 Na+-K+-ATP酶的活性却未受到任何影响。实验组大鼠体质量、肾脏质量,血浆白蛋白和总蛋白浓度,碱性磷酸酶、天冬氨酸氨基转移酶、丙氨酸氨基转移酶活性以及血浆钠、钾、钙离子的浓度与对照组大鼠相比无明显变化;但大鼠的肌酐以及尿素水平均在服用50mg/kg的玫瑰茄提取物后明显降低(P<0.05)。结论:尽管口服玫瑰茄提取物会引起肾 Ca2+-Mg2+-ATP酶活性的减弱,但同时可以起到保护肾脏功能的作用。Lawrence A.Olatunji Taofeek O.Usman Joseph O.Adebayo Victoria A.Olatunji 2012中西医结合学报2012,10,9:1

10Polyphenolic extract of Sorghum bicolor grains enhances reactive oxygen species detoxification in N-nitrosodiethylamine-treated rats显示文摘Reactive oxygen species detoxification potentials of Sorghum bicolor polyphenolic extract was investigated in the liver of N-nitrosodiethylaminetreated rats.Male rats,weighing(135±5.5)g were completely randomized into 7 groups(A–G)of five rats each.Rats in C,D,E and F were administered orally once daily at 24-h interval for 7 d with 500,125,250 and 500 mg/kg body weight of polyphenolic extract of S.bicolor,respectively.Group G was given 100 mg/kg body weight of vitamin C.On the sixth day,groups B,D,E,F and G were administered with 100 mg/kg body weight N-nitrosodiethylamine(NDEA).Group A,which served as the control was treated like the test groups except,that the animals received distilled water only.Reactive oxygen species detoxifying enzymes(superoxide dismutase,catalase,glutathione peroxidase,glutathione reductase and glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase)activities were significantly(P<0.05)induced by S.bicolor.These inductions significantly(P<0.05)attenuated the NDEA-mediated decrease in reactive oxygen species detoxifying enzymes and compared favourably with vitamin C.NDEA-mediated elevation in the concentrations of oxidative stress biomarkers;malondialdehyde,conjugated dienes,lipid hydroperoxides,protein carbonyl and percentage DNA fragmentation were significantly(P<0.05)lowered by S.bicolor polyphenolic extract.Overall,the results obtained from this study revealed that the polyphenolic extract of S.bicolor grains enhanced the detoxification of reactive oxygen species in NDEA-treated rats.The polyphenols also prevented the peroxidation of lipid,oxidation of proteins as well as fragmentation of DNA component in the liver of rats and hence gave the evidence of possible prophylactic potentials of S.bicolor grains.©2013 Beijing Academy of Food Sciences.Production and hosting by Elsevier B.V.All rights reserved.Taofeek O.Ajiboye Yesirat O.Komolafe Oyelola B.Oloyede Simiat M.Ogunbode Moriam D.Adeoye Ibrahim O.Abdulsalami Quadri O.Nurudeen 2013Food Science and Human Wellness2013,2,1:1
