2Emerging Urban Poverty and Effects of the Dibao Program on Alleviating Poverty in China显示文摘The present paper describes the current urban poverty situation,examines the factors affecting the probability of a household being in poverty and investigates how the urban minimum living standard guarantee (dibao) program helps poor people to get out of poverty. The targeting efficiency of the urban dibao program is discussed. The present study finds that the poverty rate of households with unemployed workers is much higher than that of households without unemployed workers. The urban dibao program is helpful in reducing poverty rates,but it does not reduce poverty rates too much. The government should place emphasis on helping laid-off and unemployed workers to become reemployed. 5Oxidation of gaseous elemental mercury in a high voltage discharge reactor显示文摘Effects of the voltage waveform, discharge tooth wheel number and CO2/NO/SO2 concentration in the simulated flue gas on Hg0 oxidation were investigated using a link tooth wheel-cylinder reactor energized by different high voltage power supplies. Negative DC discharge induced more ozone production and a higher Hg0 oxidation efficiency than positive DC discharge and 12 kHz AC discharge. The discharge tooth wheel number had almost no effect on the maximum Hg0 oxidation efficiency. The allowable supplied voltage decreased with the increase of discharge tooth wheel number. CO2 could stabilize the discharge process and increase the maximum voltage for a stable discharge. 6Improved TQWT for marine moving target detection显示文摘Under the conditions of strong sea clutter and complex moving targets,it is extremely difficult to detect moving targets in the maritime surface.This paper proposes a new algorithm named improved tunable Q-factor wavelet transform(TQWT)for moving target detection.Firstly,this paper establishes a moving target model and sparsely compensates the Doppler migration of the moving target in the fractional Fourier transform(FRFT)domain.Then,TQWT is adopted to decompose the signal based on the discrimination between the sea clutter and the target’s oscillation characteristics,using the basis pursuit denoising(BPDN)algorithm to get the wavelet coefficients.Furthermore,an energy selection method based on the optimal distribution of sub-bands energy is proposed to sparse the coefficients and reconstruct the target.Finally,experiments on the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research(CSIR)dataset indicate the performance of the proposed method and provide the basis for subsequent target detection.PAN Meiyan SUN Jun YANG Yuhao LI Dasheng XIE Sudao WANG Shengli CHEN Jianjun 2020Journal of Systems Engineering and Electronics2020,31,3:6
7Modeling neuropsychiatric disorders using human induced pluripotent stem cells显示文摘Neuropsychiatric disorders are complex disorders characterized by heterogeneous genetic variations,variable symptoms,and widespread changes in anatomical pathology.In the context of neuropsychiatric disorders,limited access to relevant tissue types presents challenges for understanding disease etiology and developing effective treatments.Induced pluripotent stem cells(iPSCs)reprogrammed from patient somatic cells offer an opportunity to recapitulate disease development in relevant cell types,and they provide novel approaches for understanding disease mechanisms and for development of effective treatments.Here we review recent progress and challenges in differentiation paradigms for generating disease-relevant cells and recent studies of neuropsychiatric disorders using human pluripotent stem cell(hPSC)models where cellular phenotypes linked to disease have been reported.The use of iPSC-based disease models holds great promise for understanding disease mechanisms and supporting discovery of effective treatments.Meiyan Wang Lei Zhang Fred H.Gage 2020Protein & Cell2020,11,1:5
8Inequality of Opportunity in China's Labor Earnings: The Gender Dimension显示文摘This paper investigates the inequality of opportunity in China's labor earnings,defined as the component of inequality determined by personal circumstances that lie beyond the control of an individual,of which gender is one,as opposed to the component determined by personal efforts.Using the Survey of Women's Social Status in China (2010),we measure the share of inequality of opportunity in the total inequality of individual labor earnings for people aged 26-55 years,and separately for six birth cohorts and for female and male subsamples.Gender is revealed as the single most important circumstance determining nationwide individual labor earnings,with one's region of residence, father's occupation,father's education,birth cohort and holding rural or urban hukou also playing significant roles.A further investigation into the roles of circumstances and personal efforts (including education level,occupation,Communist Party membership, migration and marital status)confirms that circumstances play.an alarmingly high role in shaping labor earnings distribution in China,and reveals notable gender differences that cannot be attributed to personal effort alone.These results provide the basis for recommending ways to improve gender equality of opportunity in the future.Jane Golley Yixiao Zhou Meiyan Wang 2019China & World Economy2019,27,1:5
9Cenozoic tectonic and geomorphic evolution of the Longxi region in northeastern Tibetan Plateau interpreted from detrital zircon显示文摘The Longxi region contains different kinds of Cenozoic sediments,including eolian deposits,reworked loess,fluvial and lacustrine deposits.The provenance evolution of these sediments is of great significance in exploring the uplift,tectonic deformation and associated with geomorphic evolution of the Northeastern Tibetan Plateau.In this paper,we used the single-grain zircon provenance analysis to constrain the provenances for the Paleogene alluvial conglomerates and for the Neogene fluvial-lacustrine sediments,and compared them with results from the loess deposits since the Miocene.The results show that:(1)the Paleogene alluvial conglomerates contain a large number of detrital zircons ranging from 560 to 1100 Ma that were derived from the Yangzi Block.However,the sediments of early Miocene have much fewer zircons of this age span,which are characterized by an abundance of zircon ages in the ranges of 200-360 Ma.This indicates that the Paleogene alluvial conglomerates mainly come from the middle and/or southern West Qinling,and the early Miocene sediments are primarily from the northern West Qinling;(2)Late Neogene fluvial sediments(11.5 Ma onward)in Tianshui-Qinan region are dominated by zircon ages of 3 80-450 Ma.This zircon population is similar to that of the exposed intrusive rocks of southern part of the Liupan Mountains,implying that the southern part of Liupan Mountains probably had already uplifted by 11.5 Ma;(3)Late Miocene lacustrine sediments in Tianshui region have a zircon age spectra that is remarkably different from coeval fluvial deposits,but is similar to the zircon age distributions of the Miocene loess in Qinan region,late Miocene-Pliocene Hipparion red clay and Quaternary loess.This indicates that fine particles within these Miocene lacustrine sediments in Tianshui region may be dominated by aeolian materials.This study reveals that provenance changes of Cenozoic sediments in Tianshui-Qinan region and its geomorphic evolution are closely related to the multi-stage uplift of the Northeastern Tibetan Plateau.In particular,the major uplift of the Northern Tibetan Plateau during late Oligocene-early Miocene may have not only provided the source areas and wind dynamic conditions for the deposits of the Miocene loess,but also provided the geomorphic conditions for its accumulation.WANG ZhiXiang LIANG MeiYan SUN YuQi DAI GaoWen 2017Science China Earth Sciences2017,60,2:4

11The provenance of Gansu Group in Longxi region and implications for tectonics and paleoclimate显示文摘The Neogene sediments of Gansu Group from northwestern China contain eolian and fluvial deposits.The origins of these sediments are very important for exploring the onset of Asian inland aridification,the pattern of paleo-atmospheric circulation,and the regional tectonics and geomorphic evolution during the Miocene.Here we present detrital-zircon age spectra of typical eolian and fluvial deposits from highlands and subsidence basin,and compare them with those of surrounding eroded mountain(such as the West Qinling Mountains and Liupan Mountains)materials and Quaternary loess derived from the Asian inlands.The results reveal that(1)the detrital-zircon age spectrum of the Miocene eolian sample is remarkably different from the eroded materials of the West Qinling Mountains and the Miocene fluvial deposits from Tianshui region,but very similar to the Quaternary loess deposits.This indicates that the provenance of Miocene eolian sediments is similar with the Quaternary loess,and thus further confirms the previous conclusions that the distribution of Asian arid lands and the pattern of atmospheric circulation during the Miocene are broadly similar with the Quaternary.(2)The detrital-zircon age spectrum of the fluvial deposits(with age about 11.5 Ma)from Tianshui region is different from the eroded materials of West Qinling Mountains,but similar with that of the Liupan Mountains to the east,which may suggest that the Liupan Mountains have already been exhumed by11.5 Ma.LIANG MeiYan WANG ZhiXiang ZHOU Sen ZONG KeQing HU ZhaoChu 2014Science China Earth Sciences2014,57,6:4
12Occurrence,distribution,and potential influencing factors of sewage sludge components derived from nine full-scale wastewater treatment plants of Beijing,China显示文摘Millions of tons of waste activated sludge(WAS) produced from biological wastewater treatment processes cause severe adverse environmental consequences. A better understanding of WAS composition is thus very critical for sustainable sludge management. In this work, the occurrence and distribution of several fundamental sludge constituents were explored in WAS samples from nine full-scale wastewater treatment plants(WWTPs) of Beijing, China. Among all the components investigated, active heterotrophic biomass was dominant in the samples(up to 9478 mg/L), followed by endogenous residues(6736 mg/L),extracellular polymeric substances(2088 mg/L), and intracellular storage products(464 mg/L)among others. Moreover, significant differences(p < 0.05) were observed in composition profiles of sludge samples among the studied WWTPs. To identify the potential parameters affecting the variable fractions of sludge components, wastewater source as well as design and operational parameters of WWTPs were studied using statistical methods. The findings indicated that the component fraction of sewage sludge depends more on wastewater treatment alternatives than on wastewater characteristics among other parameters. A principal component analysis was conducted, which further indicated that there was a greater proportion of residual inert biomass in the sludge produced by the combined system of the conventional anaerobic/anoxic/oxic process and a membrane bioreactor. 13Carrier-free highly drug-loaded biomimetic nanosuspensions encapsulated by cancer cell membrane based on homology and active targeting for the treatment of glioma显示文摘Nanosuspensions,as a new drug delivery system for insoluble drugs,are only composed of a drug and a small amount of stabilizer,which is dispersed in an aqueous solution with high drug-loading,small particle size,high dispersion,and large specific surface area.It can significantly improve the dissolution,bioavailability,and efficacy of insoluble drugs.In this study,paclitaxel nanosuspensions((PTX)NS)were prepared by an ultrasonic precipitation method,with the characteristics of simple preparation and easy repetition.With the help of a homologous targeting mechanism,a kind of glioma C6 cancer cell membrane(CCM)-coated(PTX)NS was developed and modified with DWSW peptide to obtain DWSW-CCM-(PTX)NS with the functions of BBB penetration and tumor targeting.The results showed that the cancer cell membrane could effectively camouflage the nanosuspensions so that it was not cleared by the immune system and could cross the blood-brain-barrier(BBB)and selectively target tumor tissues.Cell uptake experiments and in vivo imaging confirmed that the uptake of DWSW-CCM-(PTX)NS by tumor cells and the distribution in intracranial gliomas increased.Cytotoxicity test and in vivo anti-glioma studies showed that DWSW-CCM-(PTX)NS could significantly inhibit the growth of glioma cells and significantly prolong the survival time of glioma-bearing mice.Finally,the cancer cell membrane coating endowed the nanosuspensions with the biological properties of homologous adhesion and immune escape.This study provides an integrated solution for improving the targeting of nanosuspensions and demonstrates the encouraging potential of biomimetic nanosuspensions applicable to tumor therapy.Yueyue Fan Yuexin Cui Wenyan Hao Mengyu Chen Qianqian Liu Yuli Wang Meiyan Yang Zhiping Li Wei Gong Shiyong Song Yang Yang Chunsheng Gao 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,12:3
14Tailoring Nitrogen Terminals on MXene Enables Fast Charging and Stable Cycling Na-Ion Batteries at Low Temperature显示文摘Sodium-ion batteries stand a chance of enabling fast charging ability and long lifespan while operating at low temperature(low-T).However,sluggish kinetics and aggravated dendrites present two major challenges for anodes to achieve the goal at low-T.Herein,we propose an interlayer confined strategy for tailoring nitrogen terminals on Ti_(3)C_(2) MXene(Ti_(3)C_(2)-N_(funct)) to address these issues.The introduction of nitrogen terminals endows Ti_(3)C_(2)-N_(funct) with large interlayer space and charge redistribution,improved conductivity and sufficient adsorption sites for Na^(+),which improves the possibility of Ti_(3)C_(2) for accommodating more Na atoms,further enhancing the Na^(+) storage capability of Ti_(3)C_(2).As revealed,Ti_(3)C_(2)-N_(funct) not only possesses a lower Na-ion diffusion energy barrier and charge trans-fer activation energy,but also exhibits Na^(+)-solvent co-intercalation behavior to circumvent a high de-solvation energy barrier at low-T.Besides,the solid electrolyte interface dominated by inorganic com-pounds is more beneficial for the Na^(+)transfer at the electrode/electrolyte interface.Compared with of the unmodified sample,Ti_(3)C_(2)-Nfunct exhibits a twofold capacity(201 mAh g^(-1)),fast-charging ability(18 min at 80% capacity retention),and great superiority in cycle life(80.9%@5000 cycles)at -25℃.When coupling with Na_(3)V_(2)(PO_(4))_(2)F_(3) cathode,the Ti_(3)C_(2)-N_(funct)//NVPF exhibits high energy density and cycle stability at -25℃.Yang Xia Lanfang Que Fuda Yu Liang Deng Zhenjin Liang Yunshan Jiang Meiyan Sun Lei Zhao Zhenbo Wang 2022Nano-Micro Letters2022,14,9:3
15Structure variety and its effects on biological activity of tea polysaccharides显示文摘Tea polysaccharides(TPSs),one of the major bioactive ingredients in tea,have been widely studied due to their variety of biological activities,including antioxidant,cancer prevention,hypoglycemia,anti-fatigue,anti-coagulant,anti-obesity and immunomodulatory effect.The biological effectiveness of TPSs has direct relation with their structures such as monosaccharide composition,molecular weight,glycosidic linkages,conformation and others,which can be influenced by tea materials,processing methods,extraction and purification procedures among others.Comparing to the study of tea polyphenols,the exploration of TPSs in structural elucidation and biofunctionality is very preliminary.Yet several factors affecting the structural change of TPSs have been studied and identified.Consequently,the variation of some TPS biological activity brought by the change of TPS structures has been evaluated and preliminary correlation of structure activity relationship of TPSs has been performed.Therefore,this review aims to serve as a summary research report regarding the influencing factors on TPSs structures and consequential effects on the biological activities of TPSs.We hope to provide updated information and systematic references for future study and functional food development of TPSs.Ting Hu Peng Wu Jianfeng Zhan Weixin Wang Junfeng Shen Meiyan Wang Chi-Tang Ho Shiming Li 2022Food Science and Human Wellness2022,11,3:2

19Metabolic fate of tea polyphenols and their crosstalk with gut microbiota显示文摘Tea represents an abundant source of naturally occurring polyphenols.Tea polyphenols(TPs)have received growing attentions for its wide consumption in the world,and more importantly its pleiotropic bioeffects for human health.After ingestion,TPs may undergo absorption and phase II reaction in the small intestine,and most undigested proportion would be submitted to the colon to interact with gut microbiota.Interactions between gut microbiota and TPs are bidirectional,including not only bacteria-mediated TPs metabolism,e.g.,removal of gallic acid moiety and ring fission to release phenolic acid catabolites,but also TPs-based modification of bacterial profiles.Crosstalk between TPs and gut microbes may benefit for gut barrier function,for example,improvement of the intestinal permeability to alleviate inflammation.Moreover,by reshaping microbial composition and associated metabolites,TPs may exert a systemic protection on host metabolism,which contributes to improve certain chronic metabolic disorders.Given that,further understanding of the metabolic fate of TPs and interplay with gut microbiota as well as potential health-promoting effects are of great significance to development and application of tea and their polyphenolic components in the future as dietary supplements and/or functional ingredients in medical foods.Meiyan Wang Jianying Li Ting Hu Hui Zhao 2022Food Science and Human Wellness2022,11,3:1
