1Lignin Interaction with Cellulase during Enzymatic Hydrolysis显示文摘The conversion of lignocellulosic biomass into biofuels or biochemicals typically involves a pretreatment process followed by the enzyme-catalyzed hydrolysis of cellulose and hemicellulose components to fermentable sugars.Many factors can contribute to the recalcitrance of biomass,e.g.,the lignin content and structure,crystallinity of cellulose,degree of fiber polymerization,and hemicellulose content,among others.However,nonproductive binding between cellulase and lignin is the factor with the greatest impact on enzymatic hydrolysis.To reduce the nonproductive adsorption of enzymes on lignin and improve the efficiency of enzymatic hydrolysis,this review comprehensively summarized the progress that has been made in understanding the interactions between lignin and enzymes.Firstly,the effects of pretreatment techniques on lignin content and enzymatic hydrolysis were reviewed.The effects of lignin content and functional groups on enzymatic hydrolysis were then summarized.Methods for the preparation and characterization of lignin films were assessed.Finally,the methods applied to characterize the interactions between lignin and cellulase were reviewed,and methods for decreasing the nonproductive binding of enzymes to lignin were discussed.This review provides an overview of the current understanding of how lignin hinders the enzymatic hydrolysis of lignocellulosic biomass,and provides a theoretical basis for the development of more economical and effective methods and additives to reduce the interaction of lignin and enzymes to improve the efficiency of enzymatic hydrolysis.Mingfu Li Qingtong Zhang Changzhou Chen Shuangfei Wang Douyong Min 2019Paper And Biomaterials2019,4,4:12
2Preparation of phosphorus-modified PITQ-13 catalysts and their performance in 1-butene catalytic cracking显示文摘A series of phosphorus-modified PITQ-13 catalysts was prepared by wet impregnation of NH4H2PO4solution into an HITQ-13 parent. The catalysts were characterized using XRD, N2adsorption, MAS NMR and NH3-TPD. Their catalytic performance in 1-butene catalytic cracking was evaluated in a fixed fluidized bed reactor. The results showed that the crystallinity, surface area and pore volume of P-modified PITQ-13catalysts decreased with the increasing amounts of P. The number of weak acid sites increased, whereas that of strong acidity decreased. The selectivity to propylene in 1-butene cracking reactions increased because of the decrease in strong acidity. 3Impact and inhibitory mechanism of phenolic compounds on the formation of toxic Maillard reaction products in food显示文摘As one of the dominant reactions occurring during thermal treatment of food, the Maillard reaction not only leads to the formation of aroma, browning color and taste compounds, but also contributes to the formation of some unpleasant toxic substances including acrylamide,heterocyclic amines and advanced glycation end products.Polyphenols, one of the most abundant antioxidants in the human diet, are contained in different kinds of foods. In this review, some recent studies on the impact of dietary polyphenols on the formation of acrylamide, heterocyclic amines and advanced glycation end products formed during the Maillard reaction are summarized, including the research work conducted with both chemical model systems and real food model systems; the possible inhibitory mechanisms of different polyphenols are also summarized and discussed in this review. Basically we found that some dietary polyphenols not only scavenge free radicals, but also react with reactive carbonyl species,thus lowering the formation of toxic Maillard reaction products. 4Serum semaphorin 4C as a diagnostic biomarker in breast cancer:A multicenter retrospective study显示文摘Background:To date,there is no approved blood-based biomarker for breast cancer detection.Herein,we aimed to assess semaphorin 4C(SEMA4C),a pivotal protein involved in breast cancer progression,as a serum diagnostic biomarker.Methods:We included 6,213 consecutive inpatients from Tongji Hospital,Qilu Hospital,and Hubei Cancer Hospital.Training cohort and two validation cohorts were introduced for diagnostic exploration and validation.A pan-cancer cohort was used to independently explore the diagnostic potential of SEMA4C among solid tumors.Breast cancer patients who underwent mass excision prior to modified radical mastectomy were also analyzed.We hypothesized that increased pretreatment serum SEMA4C levels,measured using optimized in-house enzymelinked immunosorbent assay kits,could detect breast cancer.The endpoints were diagnostic performance,including area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC),sensitivity,and specificity.Post-surgery pathological diagnosis was the reference standard and breast cancer staging followed the TNM classification.There was no restriction on disease stage for eligibilities.Results:We included 2667 inpatients with breast lesions,2378 patients with other solid tumors,and 1168 healthy participants.Specifically,118 patients with breast cancer were diagnosed with stage 0(5.71%),620 with stage I(30.00%),966 with stage II(46.73%),217 with stage III(10.50%),and 8 with stage IV(0.39%).Patients with breast cancer had significantly higher serum SEMA4C levels than benign breast tumor patients and normal controls(P<0.001).Elevated serum SEMA4C levels had AUC of 0.920(95%confidence interval[CI]:0.900–0.941)and 0.932(95%CI:0.911–0.953)for breast cancer detection in the two validation cohorts.The AUCs for detecting early-stage breast cancer(n=366)and ductal carcinoma in situ(n=85)were 0.931(95%CI:0.916–0.946)and 0.879(95%CI:0.832–0.925),respectively.Serum SEMA4C levels significantly decreased after surgery,and the reduction was more striking after modified radical mastectomy,compared with mass excision(P<0.001).The positive rate of enhanced serum SEMA4C levels was 84.77%for breast cancer and below 20.75%for the other 14 solid tumors.Conclusions:Serum SEMA4C demonstrated promising potential as a candidate biomarker for breast cancer diagnosis.However,validation in prospective settings and by other study groups is warranted.Ya Wang Long Qiao Jie Yang Xiong Li Yaqi Duan Jiahao Liu Shaoqi Chen Huayi Li Dan Liu Tian Fang Jingjing Ma Xiaoting Li Fei Ye Junxiang Wan Juncheng Wei Qin Xu Ensong Guo Ping Jin Mingfu Wu Lin Zhang Yun Xia Yaqun Wu Jun Shao Yaojun Feng Qing Zhang Zongyuan Yang Gang Chen Qinghua Zhang Xingrui Li Shixuan Wang Junbo Hu Xiaoyun Wang Mona P.Tan Kazuaki Takabe Beihua Kong Qifeng Yang Ding Ma Qinglei Gao 2021Cancer Communications2021,41,12:3

10Spontaneous movement of a retrotransposon generated genic dominant male sterility providing a useful tool for rice breeding显示文摘Male sterility in plants provides valuable breeding tools in germplasm innovation and hybrid crop production.However,genetic resources for dominant genic male sterility,which hold great promise to facilitate breeding processes,are extremely rare in natural germplasm.Here we characterized the Sanming Dominant Genic Male Sterility in rice and identified the gene SDGMS using a map-based cloning approach.We found that spontaneous movement of a 1978-bp long terminal repeat(LTR)retrotransposon into the promoter region of the SDGMS gene activates its expression in anther tapetum,which causes abnormal programmed cell death of tapetal cells resulting in dominant male sterility.SDGMS encodes a ribosome inactivating protein showing N-glycosidase activity.The activation of SDGMS triggers transcription reprogramming of genes responsive to biotic stress leading to a hypersensitive response which causes sterility.The results demonstrate that an ectopic gene activation by transposon movement can give birth to a novel trait which enriches phenotypic diversity with practical utility.Conghao Xu Yifeng Xu Zhengji Wang Xiaoyu Zhang Yuying Wu Xinyan Lu Hongwei Sun Lei Wang Qinglu Zhang Qinghua Zhang Xianghua Li Jinghua Xiao Xu Li Mingfu Zhao Yidan Ouyang Xianbo Huang Qifa Zhang 2023National Science Review2023,10,9:1

16The contribution of photoinduced charge-transfer enhancement to the SERS of uranyl(Ⅵ) in a uranyl-Ag_2O complex显示文摘Charge-transfer(CT) is an important enhancement mechanism in the field of surface-enhanced Raman scattering(SERS) that typically increases the Raman intensity of molecules by as much as 10–100 times.Herein, a low-cost Ag_2O aggregates substrate was prepared via a facile chemical precipitation method,and the calculated CT-based enhancement factor of the uranyl ions adsorbed on it reached as high as 10~5, a metal-comparable value. The efficient photoinduced CT process from the valence band of Ag_2O to the LUMO of uranyl ions under appropriate excitation sources resulted in the repulsion of the axial oxygen atoms of the O=U=O bond, which enhanced its polarizability, creating a more intense Raman mode. To the best of our knowledge, this study firstly reports such a strong photoinduced CT enhancement of uranyl ions, with concentrations of 10^(-8) mol L^(-1) or lower being detected using this Ag_2O substrate. Most importantly, this research has shown that the photoinduced CT enhancement also contributes to the SERS of uranyl ions on pure Ag substrates which have often been ascribed to the electromagnetic enhancement in previous studies. 19Synergistic influence of the capture effect of western flower thrips(Frankliniella occidentalis)induced by proportional yellow-green light in the greenhouse显示文摘To clarify the influence of yellow,green,and proportional yellow-green light on the capture effect,western flower thrips,Frankliniella occidentalis(Pergande),were captured using different self-made light sources in a greenhouse.The bio-activity capture effect of thrips was regulated by light and analyzed to determine the reasons for the changes in their capture by light.The results showed that the thrips’capture effect induced by different light sources with the same brightness was positively correlated with night temperature.When the average night temperature was 27℃(19:00-21:30),the capture effect was optimal,indicating that the coupling effect of light temperature can regulate the capture effect of thrips.Green light intensified and yellow light inhibited the visual trend sensitivity of thrips to yellow-green light of differing proportions.The capture effect trapped by a green-yellow light ratio of 4:1 was optimal(1088.00 individuals in night time),while that of yellow light was the worst(456.67 individuals/night),thus,indicating that visual trend sensitivity of thrips to green light was higher than that of yellow light.Such differences originated from the differences in the photoelectric thermal conversion effect of spectral optical properties,and the spectral photo-thermal effect was the main reason that thrips produced a light-trapped behavior.Night light enhanced the sensitivity of thrips’responses to a white adhesive board during the daytime,and the effect of yellow light intensity was the strongest(1563.00 individuals in the daytime),while that of green light was the weakest(75.33 individuals in the day time).Additionally,yellow light intensified while green light inhibited the regulatory effect of different proportions of yellow-green light on the bio-activity of thrips.However,the capture effect of day and night corresponding to 4:1 green-yellow light was the best(2019.67 individuals in day and night).The function of the photo-thermal effect on the capture effect of thrips was affected by the decrease in night temperature,but the photo-electro-thermal effects of night light intensified the bio-activity of thrips in the daytime and enhanced their color sensitivity.The results provide a theoretical basis for the development of pest light induction equipment.Qihang Liu Xinfa Wang Mingfu Zhao Tao Liu 2023International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2023,16,1:1
