| 1 | Future biomass carbon sequestration capacity of Chinese forests显示文摘Chinese forests, characterized by relatively young stand age, represent a significant biomass carbon(C)sink over the past several decades. Nevertheless, it is unclear how forest biomass C sequestration capacity in China will evolve as forest age, climate and atmospheric CO_2 concentration change continuously. Here,we present a semi-empirical model that incorporates forest age and climatic factors for each forest type to estimate the effects of forest age and climate change on total forest biomass, under three different scenarios based on the fifth phase of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project(CMIP5). We estimate that age-related forest biomass C sequestration to be 6.69 Pg C(~0.17 Pg C a^(-1)) from the 2000s to the 2040s.Climate change induces a rather weak increase in total forest biomass C sequestration(0.52–0.60 Pg C by the 2040s). We show that rising CO_2 concentrations could further increase the total forest biomass C sequestration by 1.68–3.12 Pg C in the 2040s across all three scenarios. Overall, the total forest biomass in China would increase by 8.89–10.37 Pg C by the end of 2040s. | 2 | Towards an Artificial Intelligence Framework for Data-Driven Prediction of Coronavirus Clinical Severity显示文摘The virus SARS-CoV2,which causes the Coronavirus disease COVID-19 has become a pandemic and has spread to every inhabited continent.Given the increasing caseload,there is an urgent need to augment clinical skills in order to identify from among the many mild cases the few that will progress to critical illness.We present a first step towards building an artificial intelligence(AI)framework,with predictive analytics(PA)capabilities applied to real patient data,to provide rapid clinical decision-making support.COVID-19 has presented a pressing need as a)clinicians are still developing clinical acumen given the disease’s novelty,and b)resource limitations in a rapidly expanding pandemic require difficult decisions relating to resource allocation.The objectives of this research are:(1)to algorithmically identify the combinations of clinical characteristics of COVID-19 that predict outcomes,and(2)to develop a tool with AI capabilities that will predict patients at risk for more severe illness on initial presentation.The predictive models learn from historical data to help predict specifically who will develop acute respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS),a severe outcome in COVID-19.Our experimental results based on two hospitals in Wenzhou,Zhejang,China identify features most predictive of ARDS in COVID-19 initial presentation which would not have stood out to clinicians.A mild increase in elevated alanine aminotransferase(ALT)(a liver enzyme)),a presence of myalgias(body aches),and an increase in hemoglobin,in this order,are the clinical features,on presentation,that are the most predictive.Those two centers’COVID-19 case series symptoms on initial presentation can help predict severe outcomes.Predictive models that learned from historical data of patients from two Chinese hospitals achieved 70%to 80%accuracy in predicting severe cases. | Xiangao Jiang Megan Coffee Anasse Bari Junzhang Wang Xinyue Jiang Jianping Huang Jichan Shi Jianyi Dai Jing Cai Tianxiao Zhang Zhengxing Wu Guiqing He Yitong Huang | 2020 | Computers, Materials & Continua2020,,4: | 15 |

| 4 | Combined obeticholic acid and apoptosis inhibitor treatment alleviates liver fibrosis显示文摘Obeticholic acid(OCA), the first FXR-targeting drug, has been claimed effective in the therapy of liver fibrosis. However, recent clinical trials indicated that OCA might not be effective against liver fibrosis, possibly due to the lower dosage to reduce the incidence of the side-effect of pruritus. Here we propose a combinatory therapeutic strategy of OCA and apoptosis inhibitor for combating against liver fibrosis. CCl4-injured mice, D-galactosamine/LPS(GalN/LPS)-treated mice and cycloheximide/TNFα(CHX/TNFα)-treated HepG2 cells were employed to assess the effects of OCA, or together with IDN-6556, an apoptosis inhibitor. OCA treatment significantly inhibited hepatic stellate cell(HSC)activation/proliferation and prevented fibrosis. Elevated bile acid(BA) levels and hepatocyte apoptosis triggered the activation and proliferation of HSCs. OCA treatment reduced BA levels but could not inhibit hepatocellular apoptosis. An enhanced anti-fibrotic effect was observed when OCA was co-administrated with IDN-6556. Our study demonstrated that OCA inhibits HSCs activation/proliferation partially by regulating BA homeostasis and thereby inhibiting activation of HSCs. | 5 | A new formula of mechanism mobility based on virtual constraint loop显示文摘Several important developing phases of the formulas for mobility calculation based on constraints are introduced. The shortcoming of the mobility formulas based on common constraints of loops of a mechanism is that virtual constraints must be calculated before determining the mobility of a mechanism with virtual constraints. In order to avoid the shortcoming, some new concepts including virtual loop, virtual-loop constraint and general-kinematic-pair constraint are used to analyze the relationship between mobility of links and constraint of kinematic pairs and a mobility formula based on common constraints of virtual loops is proposed. The formula is that the number of mobility of a mechanism is the sum of mobility of all links in the mecha-nism minus the sum of constraints of all kinematic pairs plus the sum of the common constraints of all virtual loops. The sum of over constraints of a mechanism is the sum of constraints of all virtual loops in the mechanism. This mobility formula expressed in terms of common constraints of virtual loops in a mechanism can avoid calculating virtual constraints. | 6 | Quality assessment of randomized controlled trials reporting on knee osteoarthritis treated with warming needle moxibustion显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the quality of randomized controlled trials(RCTs) testing the efficacy of warming needle moxibustion on knee osteoarthritis(KOA).METHODS: Nine databases were searched systematically including: the Cochrane Library(1/1993-10/2012), Pub Med(1/1980-10/2012), EMBASE(1/1990-10/2012), SCI Expanded(1/1986-10/2012), Science Direct(1/1979-10/2012), Chinese Biomedical Literature Database disc(1/1978-10/2012), China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database(1/1979-10/2012), China Science and Technology Journal Database(a full text issue database of China, 1/1989-10/2012), and Wanfang Database(a full text issue database of China, 1/1990-10/2012). Traditional reference retrieval was also conducted. Language was limited to Chinese and English. We identified 37 RCTs that used warming needle moxibustion as an intervention and they were assessed with the Consolidated Standards for Reporting of Trials Statement 2010(CONSORT 2010) and Standards for Reporting Interventions Controlled Trials of Acupuncture 2010(STRICTA 2010).RESULTS: Of the 37 reports, only seventeen(45.95%) mentioned the random allocation of sequence methods, nine used unacceptable methods, and only one(2.70%) gave the description of the mechanism of allocation concealment. One study(2.70%) mentioned blinding, one(2.70%) had a sample size calculation, and twenty-three(62.16%) used reasonable statistical methods. Thirteen(35.14%) described the background and reason for the RCTs, three(8.11%) gave a description of lost or eliminated patients, and two(5.41%) reported accidental situations. Only three(8.11%)gave analysis of the RCT limitations. No report mentioned intentional analysis.CONCLUSION: The quality of the RCTs assessed in this study was from moderate to low. The design of RCTs, the methods of statistical analysis, and the description of reports information needs to be improved. | 8 | Changes in progenitors and differentiated epithelial cells of neonatal piglets显示文摘This study aimed to assess the changes of small intestinal morphology,progenitors,differentiated epithelial cells,and potential mechanisms in neonatal piglets.Hematoxylin and eosin staining of samples from 36 piglets suggested that dramatic changes were observed in the jejunum crypts depth and crypt fission index of neonatal piglets(P<0.001).The number of intestinal stem cells(ISC)tended to increase(P<0.10),and a decreased number of enteroendocrine cells appeared in the jejunal crypt on d 7(P<0.05).Furthermore,the mRNA expression of jejunal chromogranin A(ChgA)was down-regulated in d 7 piglets(P<0.05).There was an up-regulation of the adult ISC marker gene of SPARC related modular calcium binding 2(Smoc2),and Wnt/b-catenin target genes on d 7(P<0.05).These results were further verified in vitro enteroid culture experiments.A mass of hollow spheroids was cultured from the fetal intestine of 0-d-old piglets(P<0.001),whereas substantial organoids with budding and branching structures were cultured from the intestine of 7-d-old piglets(P<0.001).The difference was reflected by the organoid budding efficiency,crypt domains per organoid,and the surface area of the organoid.Furthermore,spheroids on d 0 had more Ki67-positive cells and enteroendocrine cells(P<0.05)and showed a decreasing trend in the ISC and goblet cells(P<0.10).Moreover,the mRNA expression of spheroids differed markedly from that of organoids,with low expression of intestinal differentiation gene(Lysozyme;P<0.05),epithelial-specific markers(Villin,E-cadherin;P<0.05),and adult ISC markers(leucine-rich repeat-containing G protein-coupled receptor 5[Lgr5],Smoc2;P<0.001),and upregulation of fetal marker(connexin 43[Cnx43];P<0.05).The mRNA expression of relevant genes was up-regulated,and involved in Wnt/b-catenin,epidermal growth factor(EGF),Notch,and bone morphogenetic protein(BMP)signaling on d 7 organoids(P<0.05).Spheroids displayed low differentiated phenotype and high proliferation,while organoids exhibited strong differentiation potential.These results indicated that the conversion from the fetal progenitors(spheroids)to adult ISC(normal organoids)might largely be responsible for the fast development of intestinal epithelial cells in neonatal piglets. | Lanmei Yin Jun Li Yitong Zhang Qing Yang Cuiyan Yang Zhenfeng Yi Yuebang Yin Qiye Wang Jianzhong Li Nengshui Ding Zhigang Zhang Huansheng Yang Yulong Yin | 2022 | Animal Nutrition2022,,1: | 3 |

| 12 | Efficient Currency Determination Algorithms for Dynamic Data显示文摘Data quality is an important aspect in data application and management, and currency is one of the major dimensions influencing its quality. In real applications, datasets timestamps are often incomplete and unavailable,or even absent. With the increasing requirements to update real-time data, existing methods can fail to adequately determine the currency of entities. In consideration of the velocity of big data, we propose a series of efficient algorithms for determining the currency of dynamic datasets, which we divide into two steps. In the preprocessing step, to better determine data currency and accelerate dataset updating, we propose the use of a topological graph of the processing order of the entity attributes. Then, we construct an Entity Query B-Tree(EQB-Tree) structure and an Entity Storage Dynamic Linked List(ES-DLL) to improve the querying and updating processes of both the data currency graph and currency scores. In the currency determination step, we propose definitions of the currency score and currency information for tuples referring to the same entity and use examples to discuss methods and algorithms for their computation. | 13 | Clinical characteristics and clinicopathological correlations of bilateral breast cancer in China:A multicenter study from Chinese Society of Breast Surgery(CSBrS-006)显示文摘Objective:To investigate the clinical characteristics and clinicopathological correlations of bilateral breast cancer(BBC)in China.Methods:Data of 440 patients diagnosed with BBC in 2018 were collected from 33 centers of the Chinese Society of Breast Surgery.Demographic characteristics,bilateral tumor characteristics,and comprehensive treatment data were obtained.Correlations between the clinicopathological characteristics of bilateral tumors were analyzed.Results:The proportion of BBC was 0.22%-3.08%.A total of 33(7.5%)patients had a family history of malignant tumors,304(69.1%)patients had synchronous BBC.Only 1(0.2%)patient was male.More than half of all patients received concurrent or asynchronous endocrine/chemotherapy,32.5%of all human epidermal growth factor receptor 2(HER2)-positive patients received HER2-targeted therapy,and approximately 21.6%of all patients received radiotherapy.The most common pathological cancer type was invasive ductal cancer(>60%).Approximately 70%of all patients had bilateral hormone receptor(HR)-positive tumors and presented with a single breast mass.Significant correlations were found with pathological type,histological grade,locations of tumor,molecular subtype,Ki-67 index,tumor site and size of bilateral tumors.Results of the subgroup analysis showed more clinicopathological characteristics when synchronous BBC was compared with metachronous BBC.Conclusions:In China,the clinicopathological characteristics of bilateral tumors showed significant correlations,and more significant clinicopathological correlations were observed when synchronous BBC was compared with metachronous BBC. | Xuelu Li Yitong Wang Bo Pan Man Li Jiyue Gao Yi Zhao Zuowei Zhao Chinese Society of Breast Surgery | 2021 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2021,33,1: | 2 |

| 20 | Nanoparticle accumulation in liver may induce resistance to immune checkpoint blockade therapy显示文摘Despite immune checkpoint blockade(ICB)therapy has transformed cancer treatment,only 20.2%of these patients achieved a response.Understanding resistance mechanisms to ICB is important for the treatment of a wider population.In this work,we occasionally found that the silica nanoparticles(SiO_(2)NPs)accumulated in the liver can induce resistance to following ICB therapy to a subcutaneous tumor in mice.By analysis of T cells frequency,we uncovered that SiO_(2)NPs in the liver resulted in a siphoning of T cells from circulation to the liver by produced chemokines.In addition,liver immunosuppressive cells further inhibit the function and induce apoptosis of recruited T cells,leading to a systemic loss and reduced tumor infiltration of T cells,which contributes to poor responses to ICB therapy.However,such effect is not observed in poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid)(PLGA)NPs treated mice under the same conditions,likely due to their much lower immunogenicity in perturbing the liver immune microenvironment,indicating that cancer is not a local disease but an ecosystem that is linked to the distal environment.We further provide a new mechanism insight into ICB resistance induced by liver accumulation of nanoparticles. | Huaxing Dai Qianyu Yang Rong Sun Yue Zhang Qingle Ma Yifan Shen Beilei Wang Yitong Chen Jialu Xu Bo Tian Fang Xu Chao Wang | 2023 | Nano Research2023,16,4: | 1 |
