| 1 | Enhanced Strength and Ductility Due to Microstructure Refinement and Texture Weakening of the GW102K Alloy by Cyclic Extrusion Compression显示文摘The cyclic extrusion compression(CEC) was applied to severely deform the as-extruded GW102K(Mg–10.0Gd–2.0Y–0.5Zr, wt%) alloy at 350, 400, and 450 °C, respectively. The microstructure, texture, and grain boundary character distribution of the CECed alloy were investigated in the present work. The mechanical properties were measured by uniaxial tension at room temperature. The crack initiation on the longitudinal section near the tensile fracture-surface was investigated by high-resolution scanning electron microscopy(SEM). The result shows that the microstructure was dramatically refined by dynamic recrystallization(DRX). The initial fiber texture was disintegrated and obviously weakened. The 8-passes/350 °C CECed alloy exhibited yield strength of 318 MPa with an elongation-to-fracture of 16.8%, increased by 41.3% and 162.5%, respectively. Moreover, the elongation-to-fracture of the 8-passes/450 °C CECed alloy significantly increased more than 3 times than that of the received alloy. The cracks were mainly initiated at twin boundaries and second phase/matrix interfaces during tensile deformation. The microstructure refinement was considered to result in the dramatically enhanced of the strength and ductility. In addition, the texture randomization during CEC is beneficial for enhancing ductility. | 3 | Ultracompact dual-mode waveguide crossing based on subwavelength multimode-interference couplers显示文摘We propose and experimentally demonstrate a novel ultracompact dual-mode waveguide crossing based on subwavelength multimode-interference couplers for a densely integrated on-chip mode-division multiplexing system.By engineering the lateral-cladding material index and manipulating phase profiles of light at the nanoscale using an improved inverse design method, a subwavelength structure could theoretically realize the identical beat length for both TE_0 and TE1, which can reduce the scale of the device greatly. The fabricated device occupied a footprint of only 4.8 μm× 4.8 μm. The measured insertion losses and crosstalks were less than 0.6 d B and-24 d B from 1530 nm to 1590 nm for both TE0 and TE1 modes, respectively. | 7 | Exosomes secreted from cardiomyocytes suppress the sensitivity of tumor ferroptosis in ischemic heart failure显示文摘Heart failure(HF)patients in general have a higher risk of developing cancer.Several animal studies have indicated that cardiac remodeling and HF remarkably accelerate tumor progression,highlighting a cause-and-effect relationship between these two disease entities.Targeting ferroptosis,a prevailing form of non-apoptotic cell death,has been considered a promising therapeutic strategy for human cancers.Exosomes critically contribute to proximal and distant organ-organ communications and play crucial roles in regulating diseases in a paracrine manner.However,whether exosomes control the sensitivity of cancer to ferroptosis via regulating the cardiomyocyte-tumor cell crosstalk in ischemic HF has not yet been explored.Here,we demonstrate that myocardial infarction(MI)decreased the sensitivity of cancer cells to the canonical ferroptosis activator erastin or imidazole ketone erastin in a mouse model of xenograft tumor.Post-MI plasma exosomes potently blunted the sensitivity of tumor cells to ferroptosis inducers both in vitro in mouse Lewis lung carcinoma cell line LLC and osteosarcoma cell line K7M2 and in vivo with xenograft tumorigenesis model.The expression of miR-22-3p in cardiomyocytes and plasma-exosomes was significantly upregulated in the failing hearts of mice with chronic MI and of HF patients as well.Incubation of tumor cells with the exosomes isolated from post-MI mouse plasma or overexpression of miR-22-3p alone abrogated erastin-induced ferroptotic cell death in vitro.Cardiomyocyte-enriched miR-22-3p was packaged in exosomes and transferred into tumor cells.Inhibition of cardiomyocyte-specific miR-22-3p by AAV9 sponge increased the sensitivity of cancer cells to ferroptosis.ACSL4,a pro-ferroptotic gene,was experimentally established as a target of miR-22-3p in tumor cells.Taken together,our findings uncovered for the first time that MI suppresses erastin-induced ferroptosis through releasing miR-22-3p-enriched exosomes derived from cardiomyocytes.Therefore,targeting exosome-mediated cardiomyocyte/tumor pathological communication may offer a novel approach for the ferroptosis-based antitumor therapy. | Ye Yuan Zhongting Mei Zhezhe Qu Guanghui Li Shuting Yu Yingqi Liu Kuiwu Liu Zhihua Shen Jiaying Pu Yanquan Wang Changhao Wang Zhiyong Sun Qian Liu Xiaochen Pang Ao Wang Zijing Ren Tong Wang Ying Liu Jinhuan Hong Jiajie Xie Xin Li Zhonghua Wang Weijie Du Baofeng Yang | 2023 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2023,8,4: | 2 |
| 8 | Improving the Antibacterial Property of Chitosan Hydrogel Wound Dressing with Licorice Polysaccharide显示文摘A series of hydrogels with different ratios of chitosan and licorice polysaccharide(LP)were prepared by crosslinking to different concentrations of genipin(gp).They were characterized by FTIR(Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy),SEM(Scanning electron microscope),swelling ratio,rheological measurements,degradation with time,cytotoxicity,and antibacterial efficacy.Results show that the hydrogels have porous structures.With an increase in LP content,the swelling rate grows in the early stage of immersion in buffer and drops later.The swelling ratio ranged from 986%to 1677%,and stiffness varied from 777 Pa to 1792 Pa.The addition of LP reduced the mechanical strength and delayed gelation and degradation of the hydrogels.However,the most important discovery was that gp increases the viability of NIH 3T3 cells from 94%to 137%,and LP raises the bacteriostatic efficacy from 51%to 78%.Hydrogels synthesized from 1%genipin,3%chitosan,and 4%licorice polysaccharide showed the best antibacterial and fibroblast proliferation promoting activities.They exhibited moderate swelling and degradation rates over time,while being more suitable to affect healing of chronic wound infections.These results provide a new strategy to improve the antibacterial effectiveness and cyto-compatibility of chitosan hydrogels with water soluble active LPs from Glycyrrhiza that derive from traditional Chinese medicine. | Haiwei Ren Li Wang Hui Bao Yunya Xia Dada Xu Weijie Zhang Zhiye Wang | 2020 | Journal of Renewable Materials2020,8,10: | 2 |
| 9 | Experimental and Numerical Study of the Effect of Fuel/Air Mixing Modes on NO_(x) and CO Emissions of MILD Combustion in a Boiler Burner显示文摘The Moderate or Intense Low-oxygen Dilution (MILD) combustion is characterized by low emissions,stable combustion and low noise for various kinds of fuel,which has great potential in the industry.The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of fuel/air mixing modes on NO_(x) and CO emissions of MILD combustion in a boiler burner by experiments and numerical simulations.Three types of fuel/air mixing modes (premixing mode,diffusion mode and hybrid mode) have been considered in this study.The realizable k-ε turbulent model and the Eddy Dissipation Concept (EDC) combustion model were used in numerical simulations.In addition to the temperature near the burner head,the calculation results match very well with the axial temperature distribution at the furnace center.The flow pattern under different mixing modes is similar,while the hybrid mode has a higher OH concentration near the diffusive fuel nozzle than the premixing mode,and the corresponding position of the peak OH concentration is closer to the rear half of the furnace.The distribution of temperature is extremely uniform for the premixing mode in the main reactive zone,which is typical for MILD combustion.There is a distinct area where the reaction temperature is higher than 1600 K for the hybrid mode.Moreover,in the main reactive zone,the gas recirculation ratio is high enough to ensure flue gas recirculation,which is beneficial to achieve MILD combustion at local areas.At the location where the axial distance is greater than 0.2 m,the gas recirculation ratio of the premixing mode is larger than that of the hybrid mode,which strengthens the entrainment of hot flue gas into the recirculated gas.The experimental results show that when the thermal intensity is less than 1.67 MW·m^(-3),the NO_(x) emissions are less than 15× 10^(-6)@3.5%O_(2) in near stoichiometric ratio in the premixing mode,and the CO emissions are less than 10× 10^(-6)@3.5%O2 under the same conditions.In the diffusion mode,the NO_(x) emissions are less than 30×10^(-6)@3.5%O_(2).In order to keep NO_(x) and CO emissions low,the hybrid modes with optimized fuel distribution ratio are found under different thermal intensities. | ZHU Ziru XIONG Yan ZHENG Xianglong CHEN Weijie REN Baohe XIAO Yunhan | 2021 | Journal of Thermal Science2021,30,2: | 1 |

| 12 | Differences in postembryonic dorsal fin development resulted in phenotypic divergence in two goldfish strains, Red Cap Oranda and Ranchu显示文摘Goldfish(Carassius auratus auratus)are important ornamental fish that have experienced extreme anthropogenic selection and exhibit diverse phenotypes.Loss of the dorsal fin is a key characteristic that distinguishes the Egg-goldfish from the Wen-goldfish.However,the mechanisms underlying the divergence in dorsal fin development are still unknown between the Egg-goldfish and the Wen-goldfish.In this study,we sought to unravel the postembryonic developmental processes of two goldfish strains,Red Cap Oranda,a representative of the Wen-goldfish,and Ranchu,a representative of the Egg-goldfish.We examined the developmental morphology of the dorsal fin in five-month-old goldfish larvae using both Alcian blue-alizarin red staining and X-ray photography.We showed that the developmental processes of the dorsal fin fold were different in Ranchu compared to Red Cap Oranda,despite similarity in their general developmental processes.We categorized the postembryonic development of Ranchu larvae into four types based on the number of the initial residual dorsal fin fold appearing at protruding-mouth stage.The number,size and position of the initial residual dorsal fin fold appeared at hatching affected and eventually determined the phenotypic variations in dorsal fin defects in Ranchu.In addition,we genotyped the eomesa gene to determine whether it would be a candidate gene responsible for the loss of the dorsal fin in Ranchu.The eomesa CDS sequence exhibited no nonsense mutation in Ranchu.In summary,the absence of the dorsal fin fold during postembryonic development eventually resulted in the loss of the dorsal fin in Ranchu.Further investigation is required to determine whether other genes and developmental pathways play important roles in the loss of the dorsal fin in Ranchu. | Nan Yan Jinqian Huo Yu-Wen Chung-Davidson Wenyao Cui Weijie Huang Wei He Qinghua Zhang Weiming Li Yan Zhou Jianfeng Ren | 2022 | Aquaculture and Fisheries2022,7,4: | 1 |

| 14 | Transport Patterns and Potential Sources of Atmospheric Pollution during the ⅩⅩⅣ Olympic Winter Games Period显示文摘The attainment of suitable ambient air quality standards is a matter of great concern for successfully hosting the ⅩⅩⅣ Olympic Winter Games(OWG). Transport patterns and potential sources of pollutants in Zhangjiakou(ZJK) were investigated using pollutant monitoring datasets and a dispersion model. The PM_(2.5) concentration during February in ZJK has increased slightly(28%) from 2018 to 2021, mostly owing to the shift of main potential source regions of west-central Inner Mongolia and Mongolian areas(2015–18) to the North China Plain and northern Shanxi Province(NCPS) after 2018.Using CO as an indicator, the relative contributions of the different regions to the receptor site(ZJK) were evaluated based on the source-receptor-relationship method(SRR) and an emission inventory. We found that the relative contribution of pollutants from NCPS increased from 33% to 68% during 2019–21. Central Inner Mongolia(CIM) also has an important impact on ZJK under unfavorable weather conditions. | 16 | High-purity magnesium screws modulate macrophage polarization during the tendon–bone healing process in the anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction rabbit model显示文摘Magnesium(Mg)screws perform clinical potential in anterior cruciate ligament(ACL)reconstruction,and promote fibrocartilaginous entheses regeneration at the femoral entrance.We aim to prove that high-purity Magnesium(HP Mg)screws modulate macrophage polarization in fibrocartilage interface regeneration both in vitro and in vivo.HP Mg extracts performed good cytocompatibility and significantly promoted M2 macrophage polarization in the flow cytometry and ELISA assays.M2 macrophages stimulated fibrochondrocyte differentiation of cocultured hBMSCs,and HP Mg extracts had synergistic effect on the process.Then we applied HP Mg screws,with Ti screws as control,in the ACL reconstruction rabbit model.In the histological and immunofluorescence analysis,HP Mg screws inhibited M1 polarization at 2 weeks and highly promoted M2 polarization at 2 and 4 weeks at the tendon–bone interface.Furthermore,regeneration of fibrocartilaginous entheses,rather than the fibrovascular scar interface,was detected in the HP Mg group at 12 weeks.For further mechanism study via RNA-seq detection and WB assays,we found that AKT1 was highly activated in M2 polarization,and HP Mg could stimulate AKT1 expression,rather than AKT2,in the early phase of tendon–bone healing.Our study elucidated macrophage polarization during tendon–bone healing process and emphasized HP Mg on M2 polarization and fibrocartilage interface regeneration via the selective activation of AKT1 and PI3K/AKT pathway. | PengFei Cheng ZhenJun Weng Musha Hamushan Weijie Cai Yubo Zhang Zun Ren Yunchu Sun XiaoNong Zhang Hao Shen Pei Han | 2022 | Regenerative Biomaterials2022,9,1: | 0 |

| 19 | Characterization and implications of prokaryotic ribosome-binding sites across species显示文摘The ribosome-binding site(RBS)in the 5′untranslated region is recognized by 16S rRNA to start translation and is an essential element of the gene expression system.RBSs have been widely applied in regulating gene expression in various scenarios,including Gram-negative or Gram-positive bacteria.Here,we first rationally designed and constructed an RBS mutant library containing 66 RBSs.The strength of these RBSs in E.coli and C.glutamicum was characterized individually.The RBS strength spanned about 200 and 15 times in the two species,respectively.The strength of RBSs in C.glutamicum was generally lower than that of in E.coli.A total of 18 RBSs showed similar strength(within twofold differences)between the species in our study,and the correlation analysis of the strength of RBSs between E.coli and C.glutamicum(R^(2)=0.7483)revealed that these RBSs can be used across species.The sequence analysis revealed that the RBS region with two Ts stated was beneficial for RBS to function cross-species.The RBS characterized here can be used to precisely regulate gene expression in both hosts,and the characteristics of cross-species RBSs provide basic information for RBS rational design. | Yanting Duan Xiaojuan Zhang Weiji Zhai Jinpeng Zhang Jiawei Ren Xiaomei Zhang Guoqiang Xu Jinsong Shi Zhenghong Xu | 2022 | Systems Microbiology and Biomanufacturing2022,2,4: | 0 |
