1Review of risk factors for human echinococcosis prevalence on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, China: a prospective for control options显示文摘Objective: Echinococcosis is a major parasitic zoonosis of public health importance in western China. In 2004, the Chinese Ministry of Health estimated that 380,000 people had the disease in the region. The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is highly co-endemic with both alveolar echinococcosis (AE) and cystic echinococcosis (CE). In the past years, the Chinese government has been increasing the financial support to control the diseases in this region. Therefore, it is very important to identify the significant risk factors of the diseases by reviewing studies done in the region in the past decade to help policymakers design appropriate control strategies. Review: Selection criteria for which literature to review were firstly defined. Medline, CNKI (China National Knowledge Infrastructure), and Google Scholar were systematically searched for literature published between January 2000 and July 2011. Significant risk factors found by single factor and/or multiple factors analysis were listed, counted, and summarized. Literature was examined to check the comparability of the data;age and sex specific prevalence with same data structures were merged and used for further analysis. A variety of assumed social, economical, behavioral, and ecological risk factors were studied on the Plateau. Those most at risk were Tibetan herdsmen, the old and female in particular. By analyzing merged comparable data, it was found that females had a significant higher prevalence, and a positive linearity relationship existed between echinococcosis prevalence and increasing age. In terms of behavioral risk factors, playing with dogs was mostly correlated with CE and/or AE prevalence. In terms of hygiene, employing ground water as the drinking water source was significantly correlated with CE and AE prevalence. For definitive hosts, dog related factors were most frequently identified with prevalence of CE or/and AE;fox was a potential risk factor for AE prevalence only. Overgrazing and deforestation were significant for AE prevalence only. Conclusion: Tibetan herdsmen communities were at the highest risk of echinococcosis prevalence and should be the focus of echinococcosis control. Deworming both owned and stray dogs should be a major measure for controlling echinococcosis;treatment of wild definitive hosts should also be considered for AE endemic areas. Health education activities should be in concert with the local people's education backgrounds and languages in order to be able to improve behaviors. 2Efficacy and safety of metformin and sitagliptin based triple antihyperglycemic therapy(STRATEGY):a multicenter,randomized,controlled,non-inferiority clinical trial显示文摘Despite the current guideline's recommendation of a timely stepwise intensification therapy,the 'clinical inertia',termed as the delayed treatment intensification,commonly exists in the real world,which may be partly due to the relatively little substantial evidence and no clear consensus regarding the efficacy and safety of triple oral agents in patients inadequately controlled with dual therapy.In this clinical trial performed in 237 centers in China,5,535 type 2 diabetic patients inadequately controlled by previous therapies were treated with a stable metformin/sitagliptin dual therapy for 20 weeks.The patients who did not reach the glycated hemoglobin A1c(HbA1c) goal were then further randomized into glimepiride,gliclazide,repaglinide,or acarbose group for an additional 24-week triple therapy.A mean HbAlc reduction of 0.85%was observed when sitagliptin was added to the patients inadequately controlled with metformin in 16 weeks.Further HbAlc reductions in the 24-week triple therapy stage were 0.65%in glimepiride group,0.70%in gliclazide group,0.61%in repaglinide group,and 0.45%in acarbose group.The non-inferiority criterion for primary hypotheses was met for gliclazide and repaglinide,but not for acarbose,compared with glimepiride,when added to metformin/sitagliptin dual therapy.The incidences of adverse events(AEs) were 29.2%in the dual therapy stage and30.3%in the triple therapy stage.Metformin/sitagliptin as baseline therapy,with the addition of a third oral antihyperglycemic agent,including glimepiride,gliclazide,repaglinide,or acarbose,was effective,safe and well-tolerated for achieving an HbAlc<7.0%goal in type 2 diabetic patients inadequately controlled with previous therapies.The timely augmentation of up to three oral antihyperglycemic agents is valid and of important clinical benefit to prevent patients from exposure to unnecessarily prolonged hyperglycemia.Wen Xu Yiming Mu Jiajun Zhao Dalong Zhu Qiuhe Ji Zhiguang Zhou Bin Yao Anhua Mao Samuel S.Engel Bin Zhao Yan Bi Longyi Zeng Xingwu Ran Juming Lu Linong Ji Wenying Yang Weiping Jia Jianping Weng 2017Science China(Life Sciences)2017,60,3:19

4BRIF and CARIF progress显示文摘China Institute of Atomic Energy (CIAE) is currently constructing Beijing rare ion beam facility (BRIF) and is proposing China advanced rare ion beam facility (CARIF). This paper is aiming at introducing the progress of BRIF project and the con ceptual design CARIF. The ISOL type facility BRIF under construction is composed of a 100 MeV 300 ?A proton cyclotron, an ISOL with mass resolution of 20000, and a super-conducting LINAC of 2 MeV/q, and will be commissioned in 2013. CARIF facility proposed is planned to use both ISOL and PF techniques. It is based on a China advanced research reactor CARR that was critical, with ISOL separation of fission fragment, post acceleration to 150 MeV/u, and fragmentation of neu tron-rich fission fragment beam like 132Sn. 5Microbiota transplantation reveals beneficial impact of berberine on hepatotoxicity by improving gut homeostasis显示文摘Berberine has been shown to reduce acute liver injury although the underlying mechanism is not fully understood. Because of the anatomic connection, the liver is constantly exposed to gut-derived bacterial products and metabolites. In this study, we showed that berberine has beneficial effects on both hepatotoxicity and intestinal damage in a rat model of chronic or acute liver injury. Microbiota transplantation from the rats with chronic hepatotoxicity could aggravate acute hepatotoxicity in mice treated with diethylnitrosamine(DEN). In rat models with gut homeostasis disruption induced by penicillin or dextran sulfate sodium(DSS), their fecal microbiota could also cause an enhanced hepatotoxicity of recipient mice. When treated with berberine,the DSS-induced enteric dysbacteriosis could be mitigated and their fecal bacteria were able to reduce acute hepatotoxicity in recipient mice. This study indicates that berberine could improve intestinal dysbacteriosis, which reduces the hepatotoxicity caused by pathological or pharmacological intervention. 6Heat shock protein 90 promotes RNA helicase DDX5 accumulation and exacerbates hepatocellular carcinoma by inhibiting autophagy显示文摘Objective:Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC),the main type of liver cancer,has a high morbidity and mortality,and a poor prognosis.RNA helicase DDX5,which acts as a transcriptional co-regulator,is overexpressed in most malignant tumors and promotes cancer cell growth.Heat shock protein 90(HSP90)is an important molecular chaperone in the conformational maturation and stabilization of numerous proteins involved in cell growth or survival.Methods:DDX5 m RNA and protein expression in surgically resected HCC tissues from 24 Asian patients were detected by quantitative real-time PCR and Western blot,respectively.The interaction of DDX5-HSP90 was determined by molecular docking,immunoprecipitation,and laser scanning confocal microscopy.The autophagy signal was detected by Western blot.The cell functions and signaling pathways of DDX5 were determined in 2 HCC cell lines.Two different murine HCC xenograft models were used to determine the function of DDX5 and the therapeutic effect of an HSP90 inhibitor.Results:HSP90 interacted directly with DDX5 and inhibited DDX5 protein degradation in the AMPK/ULK1-regulated autophagy pathway.The subsequent accumulation of DDX5 protein induced the malignant phenotype of HCC by activating theβ-catenin signaling pathway.The silencing of DDX5 or treatment with HSP90 inhibitor both blocked in vivo tumor growth in a murine HCC xenograft model.High levels of HSP90 and DDX5 protein were associated with poor prognoses.Conclusions:HSP90 interacted with DDX5 protein and subsequently protected DDX5 protein from AMPK/ULK1-regulated autophagic degradation.DDX5 and HSP90 are therefore potential therapeutic targets for HCC.Ting Zhang Xinrui Yang Wanping Xu Jing Wang Dawei Wu Zhixian Hong Shengxian Yuan Zhen Zeng Xiaodong Jia Shanshan Lu Rifaat Safadi Sen Han Zhihong Yang Leonard M.Neckers Suthat Liangpunsakul Weiping Zhou Yinying Lu 2021Cancer Biology & Medicine2021,18,3:7
7Development of a machine learning model to predict early recurrence for hepatocellular carcinoma after curative resection显示文摘Background:Early recurrence is common for hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)after surgical resection,being the leading cause of death.Traditionally,the COX proportional hazard(CPH)models based on linearity assumption have been used to predict early recurrence,but predictive performance is limited.Machine learning models offer a novel methodology and have several advantages over CPH models.Hence,the purpose of this study was to compare random survival forests(RSF)model with CPH models in prediction of early recurrence for HCC patients after curative resection.Methods:A total of 4,758 patients undergoing curative resection from two medical centers were included.Fifteen features including age,gender,etiology,platelet count,albumin,total bilirubin,AFP,tumor size,tumor number,microvascular invasion,macrovascular invasion,Edmondson-Steiner grade,tumor capsular,satellite nodules and liver cirrhosis were used to construct the RSF model in training cohort.Discrimination,calibration,clinical usefulness and overall performance were assessed and compared with other models.Results:Five hundred survival trees were used to generate the RFS model.The five highest Variable Importance(VIMP)were tumor size,macrovascular invasion,microvascular invasion,tumor number and AFP.In training,internal and external validation cohort,the C-index of RSF model were 0.725[standard errors(SE)=0.005],0.762(SE=0.011)and 0.747(SE=0.016),respectively;the Gönen&Heller’s K of RSF model were 0.684(SE=0.005),0.711(SE=0.008)and 0.697(SE=0.014),respectively;the time-dependent AUC(2 years)of RSF model were 0.818(SE=0.008),0.823(SE=0.014)and 0.785(SE=0.025),respectively.The RSF model outperformed early recurrence after surgery for liver tumor(ERASL)model,Korean model,American Joint Committee on Cancer tumor-node-metastasis(AJCC TNM)stage,Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer(BCLC)stage and Chinese stage.The RSF model is capable of stratifying patients into three different risk groups(low-risk,intermediate-risk,high-risk groups)in the training and two validation cohorts(all P<0.0001).A web-based prediction tool was built to facilitate clinical application(http://gffzz8caf4f582aa3478esq955kqbcob9b6ukf.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn/surgery_predict/).Conclusions:The RSF model is a reliable tool to predict early recurrence for patients with HCC after curative resection because it exhibited superior performance compared with other models.This novel model will be helpful to guide postoperative follow-up and adjuvant therapy.Jianxing Zeng Jinhua Zeng Kongying Lin Haitao Lin Qionglan Wu Pengfei Guo Weiping Zhou Jingfeng Liu 2022Hepatobiliary Surgery and Nutrition2022,11,2:6
8Determination of the ^(12)C(p, γ)^(13)N reaction rates fromthe ^(12)C(~7Li,~6He)^(13)N reaction显示文摘The angular distribution of the 12C(7Li,6He)13N reaction at E(7Li) = 44.0 MeV was measured at the HI-13 tandem accelerator of Beijing, China. The asymptotic normalization coefficient (ANC) of 13N → 12C + p was derived to be (1.64 ± 0.11) fm-1/2 through the distorted wave Born approximation (DWBA) analysis. 11Receiver Function Estimated by Wiener Filtering显示文摘Wiener filtering is used to estimate receiver function in a time_domain. With the vertical component of 3_component teleseismic P waveform as the input of a Wiener filter, receiver function as the filter response, and radial and tangential components as the expected output, receiver function is estimated by minimizing the error between expected and actual outputs. Receiver function can be obtained by solving the Toeplitz equation using the Levinson algorithm. The non_singularity of the Toeplitz equation ensures the stability of Wiener Deconvolution. 12Progress of Jinping Underground laboratory for Nuclear Astrophysics(JUNA)显示文摘Jinping Underground laboratory for Nuclear Astrophysics(JUNA) will take the advantage of the ultra-low background of CJPL lab and high current accelerator based on an ECR source and a highly sensitive detector to directly study for the first time a number of crucial reactions occurring at their relevant stellar energies during the evolution of hydrostatic stars. In its first phase, JUNA aims at the direct measurements of^(25)Mg(p,γ)^(26)Al,^(19)F(p,α)^(16)O,^(13)C(α,n)^(16)O and ^(12)C(α,γ)^(16)O reactions. The experimental setup,which includes an accelerator system with high stability and high intensity, a detector system, and a shielding material with low background, will be established during the above research. 14Late Triassic(Norian)Conodont Apparatuses Revealed by Conodont Clusters from Yunnan Province,Southwestern China显示文摘Almost all aspects of conodont research rely on a sound taxonomy based on comparative analysis.This is founded on hypotheses of homology which ultimately rest on knowledge of the location of elements in the apparatus.Natural assemblages—fossils that preserve the articulated remains of the conodont skeletal apparatus—provide our only direct evidence for element location,but very few are known from the Late Triassic.Here we describe fused clusters(natural assemblages)from the late Norian limestone beds of the Nanshuba Formation in Baoshan,Yunnan Province,southwestern China.Recurrent arrangements and juxtaposition of S and M elements in multiple clusters reveal the composition of the apparatus of Mockina and,probably,Parvigondolella.They indicate that these taxa had a standard 15 elements ozarkodinid apparatus,and provide new insights into the morphology of the elements occupying the P2,M and S locations of the apparatus.The apparatus comprised a single alate(hibbardelliform)S0 element,paired breviform digyrate(grodelliform)S1 and(enantiognathiform)S2 elements,paired bipennate(hindeodelliform)S3 and S4 elements,paired breviform digyrate(cypridodellifrom)M elements,paired,modified-angulate P2 elements(with reduced or lacking‘posterior’process)and segminiplanate(mockiniform and parvigondolelliform)P1 elements.Our results will allow testing of the hypothesis that Mockina,Parvigondolella and Misikella—critical taxa in Late Triassic biostratigraphy—are closely related and possessed morphologically similar elements in homologous locations.Weiping Zeng Mark A.Purnell Haishui Jiang Muhui Zhang 2021Journal of Earth Science2021,32,3:2
15Tet2 Regulates Osteoclast Differentiation by Interacting with Runx1 and Maintaining Genomic 5-Hydroxymethylcytosine(5hmC)显示文摘As a dioxygenase, Ten-Eleven Translocation 2(TET2) catalyzes subsequent steps of 5-methylcytosine(5 mC) oxidation. TET2 plays a critical role in the self-renewal, proliferation,and differentiation of hematopoietic stem cells, but its impact on mature hematopoietic cells is not well-characterized. Here we show that Tet2 plays an essential role in osteoclastogenesis. Deletion of Tet2 impairs the differentiation of osteoclast precursor cells(macrophages) and their maturation into bone-resorbing osteoclasts in vitro. Furthermore, Tet2^(-/-) mice exhibit mild osteopetrosis, accompanied by decreased number of osteoclasts in vivo. Tet2 loss in macrophages results in the altered expression of a set of genes implicated in osteoclast differentiation, such as Cebpa, Mafb, and Nfkbiz. Tet2 deletion also leads to a genome-wide alteration in the level of 5-hydroxymethylcytosine(5 hmC) and altered expression of a specific subset of macrophage genes associated with osteoclast differentiation. Furthermore, Tet2 interacts with Runx1 and negatively modulates its transcriptional activity. Our studies demonstrate a novel molecular mechanism controlling osteoclast differentiation and function by Tet2, that is, through interactions with Runx1 and the maintenance of genomic 5 hmC. 17Highly efficient acousto-optic modulation using nonsuspended thin-fil1m lithium niobate-chalcogenide hybrid waveguides显示文摘A highly efficient on-chip acousto-optic modulator is as a key component and occupies an exceptional position in microwave-to-optical conversion.Homogeneous thin-film lithium niobate is preferentially employed to build the suspended configuration for the acoustic resonant cavity,with the aim of improving the modulation efficiency of the device.However,the limited cavity length and complex fabrication recipe of the suspended prototype restrain further breakthroughs in modulation efficiency and impose challenges for waveguide fabrication.In this work,based on a nonsuspended thin-film lithium niobate-chalcogenide glass hybrid Mach-Zehnder interferometer waveguide platform,we propose and demonstrate a built-in push-pull acousto-optic modulator with a half-wave-voltage-length product VnL as low as 0.03 V cm that presents a modulation efficiency comparable to that of a state-of-the-art suspended counterpart.A microwave modulation link is demonstrated using our developed built-in push-pull acousto-optic modulator,which has the advantage of low power consumption.The nontrivial acousto-optic modulation performance benefits from the superior photoelastic property of the chalcogenide membrane and the completely bidirectional participation of the antisymmetric Rayleigh surface acoustic wave mode excited by the impedance-matched interdigital transducer,overcoming the issue of low modulation efficiency induced by the incoordinate energy attenuation of acoustic waves applied to the Mach-Zehnder interferometer with two arms in traditional push-pull acousto-optic modulators.Lei Wan Zhiqiang Yang Wenfeng Zhou Meixun Wen Tianhua Feng Siqing Zeng Dong Liu Huan Li Jingshun Ppan Ning Zhu Weiping Liu Zhaohui Li 2022Light(Science & Applications)2022,11,6:2
18THE STUDIES ON CHELATING FIBER -THE STUDIES ON THE AMIDOXIMATION OF POLYACRYLONITRILE FIBER显示文摘The amidoximation process of commercial polyacrylonitrile fiber was studied.
