| 6 | MicroRNA changes of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells differentiated into neuronal-like cells by Schwann cell-conditioned medium显示文摘Bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells differentiate into neurons under the induction of Schwann cells. However, key microRNAs and related pathways for differentiation remain unclear. This study screened and identified differentially expressed microRNAs in bone marrow- derived mesenchymal stem cells induced by Schwann cell-conditioned medium, and explored targets and related pathways involved in their differentiation into neuronal-like cells. Primary bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells were isolated from femoral and tibial bones, while primary Schwann cells were isolated from bilateral saphenous nerves. Bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells were cultured in unconditioned (control group) and Schwann cell-conditioned medium (bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cell + Schwann cell group). Neuronal differentiation of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells induced by Schwann cell-conditioned medium was observed by time-lapse imaging. Upon induction, the morphology of bone marrow-derived mesencaymal stem cells changed into a neural shape with neurites. Results of quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction revealed that nestin mRNA expression was upregulated from 1 to 3 days and downregulated from 3 to 7 days in the bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cell + Schwann cell group. Compared with the control group, microtubule-associated protein 2 mRNA expression gradually increased from 1 to 7 days in the bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cell + Schwann cell group. After 7 days of induction, microRNA analysis iden:ified 83 significantly differentially expressed microRNAs between the two groups. Gene Ontology analysis indicated enrichment of microRNA target genes for neuronal projection development, regulation of axonogenesis, and positive regulation of cell proliferation. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway analysis demonstrated that Hippo, Wnt, transforming growth factor-beta, and Hedgehog signaling pathv/ays were potentially associated with neural differentiation of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells. This study, which carried out successful microRNA analysis of neuronal-like cells differentiated from bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells by Schwann cell induction, revealed key microRNAs and pathways involved in neural differentiation of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells. | 7 | Electromagnetic wave absorbing properties of TMCs(TM=Ti,Zr,Hf,Nb and Ta)and high entropy(Ti0.2Zr0.2Hf0.2Nb0.2Ta0.2)C显示文摘Electromagnetic wave(EMW)absorbing materials play a vital role in modern communication and information processing technologies to inhibit information leakage and prevent possible damages to environment and human bodies.Currently,most of EMW absorbing materials are either composites of two or more phases or in the form of nanosheets,nanowires or nanofibers in order to enhance the EMW absorption performance through dielectric loss,magnetic loss and dielectric/magnetic loss coupling.However,the combination of complex shapes/multi phases and nanosizes may compound the difficulties of materials processing,composition and interfaces control as well as performance maintenance during service.Thus,searching for single phase materials with good stability and superior EMW absorbing properties is appealing.To achieve this goal,the EMW absorbing properties of transition metal carbides TMCs(TM=Ti,Zr,Hf,Nb and Ta)and high entropy(Ti_(0.2)Zr_(0.2)Hf_(0.2)Nb_(0.2)Ta_(0.2))C which belong to ultrahigh temperature ceramics,were investigated in this work.Due to the good electrical conductivity and splitting of d orbitals into lower energy t2glevel and higher energy eglevel in TMC6octahedral arrangement,TMCs(TM=Ti,Zr,Hf,Nb and Ta)exhibit good EMW absorbing properties.Especially,Hf C and Ta C exhibit superior EMW absorbing properties.The minimum reflection loss(RLmin)value of Hf C is-55.8 d B at 6.0 GHz with the thickness of 3.8 mm and the effective absorption bandwidth(E_(AB))is 6.0 GHz from 12.0 to 18.0 GHz at thickness of 1.9 mm;the RL_(minvalue)of Ta C reaches-41.1 d B at 16.2 GHz with a thickness of 2.0 mm and the EABis 6.1 GHz with a thickness of 2.2 mm.Intriguingly,the electromagnetic parameters,i.e.,complex permittivity and permeability are tunable by forming single phase solid solution or high entropy(Ti_(0.2)Zr_(0.2)Hf_(0.2)Nb_(0.2)Ta_(0.2))C.The R_(Lminvalue)of high entropy(Ti_(0.2)Zr_(0.2)Hf_(0.2)Nb_(0.2)Ta_(0.2))C is-38.5 d B at 9.5 GHz with the thickness of 1.9 mm,and the EABis 2.3 GHz(from 11.3 to 13.6 GHz)at thickness of 1.5 mm.The significance of this work is that it opens a new window to design single phase high performance EMW absorbing materials by dielectric/magnetic loss coupling through tuning the conductivity and crystal field splitting energy of d orbitals of transition metals in carbides,nitrides and possibly borides. | Yanchun Zhou Biao Zhao Heng Chen Huimin Xiang Fu-Zi Dai Shijiang Wu Wei Xu | 2021 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,15: | 13 |

| 9 | Effects of combined drip irrigation and sub-surface pipe drainage on water and salt transport of saline-alkali soil in Xinjiang, China显示文摘Developing effective irrigation and drainage strategies to improve the quality of saline-alkali soil is vital for enhancing agricultural production and increasing economic returns. In this study, we explored how irrigation and drainage modes (flood irrigation, drip irrigation, and sub-surface pipe drainage under drip irrigation) improve the saline-alkali soil in Xinjiang, China. We aimed to study the transport characteristics of soil water and salt under different irrigation and drainage modes, and analyze the effects of the combination of irrigation and drainage on soil salt leaching, as well as its impacts on the growth of oil sunflower. Our results show that sub-surface pipe drainage under drip irrigation significantly reduced the soil salt content and soil water content at the 0–200 cm soil depth. Under sub-surface pipe drainage combined with drip irrigation, the mean soil salt content was reduced to below 10 g/kg after the second irrigation, and the soil salt content decreased as sub-surface pipe distance decreased. The mean soil salt content of flood irrigation exceeded 25 g/kg, and the mean soil desalination efficiency was 3.28%, which was lower than that of drip irrigation. The mean soil desalination rate under drip irrigation and sub-surface pipe drainage under drip irrigation was 19.30% and 58.12%, respectively. | 10 | Morinda officinalis oligosaccharides increase serotonin in the brain and ameliorate depression via promoting 5-hydroxytryptophan production in the gut microbiota显示文摘Morinda officinalis oligosaccharides(MOO) are an oral drug approved in China for the treatment of depression in China. However, MOO is hardly absorbed so that their anti-depressant mechanism has not been elucidated. Here, we show that oral MOO acted on tryptophan → 5-hydroxytryptophan(5-HTP) → serotonin(5-HT) metabolic pathway in the gut microbiota. MOO could increase tryptophan hydroxylase levels in the gut microbiota which accelerated 5-HTP production from tryptophan;meanwhile, MOO inhibited 5-hydroxytryptophan decarboxylase activity, thus reduced 5-HT generation,and accumulated 5-HTP. The raised 5-HTP from the gut microbiota was absorbed to the blood, and then passed across the blood-brain barrier to improve 5-HT levels in the brain. Additionally, pentasaccharide,as one of the main components in MOO, exerted the significant anti-depressant effect through a mechanism identical to that of MOO. | 11 | Circulating miR-125a but not miR-125b is decreased in active disease status and negatively correlates with disease severity as well as inflammatory cytokines in patients with Crohn's disease显示文摘AIM To determine the association of circulating mi R-125 a/b expression with the risk and disease severity of Crohn's disease(CD), and with inflammatory cytokines.METHODS Plasma samples were collected from patients with active CD(A-CD), or CD in remission(R-CD) and from healthy controls(HCs). The levels of the inflammatory cytokines interleukin-17(IL-17), tumour necrosis factor-α(TNF-α), and interferon-γ(IFN-γ) were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The expression of mi R-125 a/b was assessed by quantitative polymerase chain reaction(q PCR).RESULTS Twenty-nine A-CD patients, 37 R-CD patients, and 37 HCs were included in the study. Plasma mi R-125 a expression was decreased in A-CD patients comparedwith that in R-CD patients(P < 0.001) and HCs(P < 0.001). mi R-125 a expression levels enabled the differentiation of A-CD from R-CD patients [area under curve(AUC) = 0.854] and from HCs(AUC = 0.780), whereas mi R-125 b expression did not. mi R-125 a was negatively correlated with C-reaction protein(CRP)(P = 0.017), erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR)(P = 0.026), Crohn's disease activity index(CDAI)(P = 0.003), IL-17(P = 0.015), and TNF-α(P = 0.004) in A-CD patients. Furthermore, mi R-125 a was negatively associated with CRP(P = 0.038) and CDAI(P = 0.021) in R-CD patients. Regarding mi R-125 b, no association with CRP, CDAI, IL-17, TNF-α, or IFN-γ was found in A-CD or in R-CD patients. mi R-125 a levels gradually increased in A-CD patients who achieved clinical remission(P = 0.009) after 3-mo treatment, whereas they remained unchanged among patients who failed to achieve remission. No changes in mi R-125 b expression were detected in remission or non-remission patients after treatment. | 12 | Changes of Intestinal Microecology in Patients with Primary Sjogren’s Syndrome after Therapy of Yangyin Yiqi Huoxue Recipe(养阴益气活血方)显示文摘Objective: To explore the change of intestinal microecology in patients with primary Sjogren’s syndrome(p SS) and correlation with disease activity, and also discuss the therapy effect of Yangyin Yiqi Huoxue Recipe(养阴益气活血方, YYHD). Methods: Sixteen p SS patients were enrolled in the present study, who received 3-month treatment of YYHR, 200 mL orally twice daily. Their pre-and post-test ESSDAI scores, erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR) and serum immunoglobulin G(IgG) levels were measured respectively. The 16 Sr DNA metagenomic sequencing was used to detect and analyze the abundance and diversity of intestinal bacteria flora and the proportion of bacteria at the levels of phylum, family, and genus, in comparision with those of 6 healthy subjects in the control group. Results: The abundance and diversity of intestinal bacteria flora in pSS patients were lower than those of healthy subjects(P<0.05). After the treatment with YYHD, patients’ ESSDAI score and levels of IgG and ESR have decreased significantly(P<0.05). At the phylum level, the proportions of Actinobacteria, Firmicutes, Fusobacteria and Proteobacteria have reduced sharply, while the proportions of Bacteroidetes, Teneriquetes and Candidate-division-TM7 have increased significantly by treatment(all P<0.05). At the classification level, such treatment has caused a significant decrease in the proportions of Bacteroidaceae, Ruminococcaceae, Veillonellaceae, and Enterobacteriacea(all P<0.05), but a significant increase in the proportion of Lachnospiraceae(P<0.05). At the genus level, the treatment has significantly decreased the proportions of Bifidobacterium, Bacteroides, Escherichia-Shigella, Faecalibacterium and Prevotella(all P<0.05), but significantly increased the proportion of Clostridia(P<0.05), close to the levels of healthy subjects(P>0.05). Conclusions: There exists an imbalance of intestinal microecology in p SS patients, which can be improved through the treatment with YYHD. | 14 | Seeing permeability from images: fast prediction with convolutional neural networks显示文摘Fast prediction of permeability directly from images enabled by image recognition neural networks is a novel pore-scale modeling method that has a great potential. This article presents a framework that includes (1) generation of porous media samples,(2) computation of permeability via fluid dynamics simulations,(3) training of convolutional neural networks (CNN) with simulated data, and (4) validations against simulations. Comparison of machine learning results and the ground truths suggests excellent predictive performance across a wide range of porosities and pore geometries, especially for those with dilated pores. Owning to such heterogeneity, the permeability cannot be estimated using the conventional Kozeny–Carman approach. Computational time was reduced by several orders of magnitude compared to fluid dynamic simulations. We found that, by including physical parameters that are known to affect permeability into the neural network, the physics-informed CNN generated better results than regular CNN. | 15 | In Situ Coupling Strategy for Anchoring Monodisperse Co_9S_8 Nanoparticles on S and N Dual?Doped Graphene as a Bifunctional Electrocatalyst for Rechargeable Zn–Air Battery显示文摘An in situ coupling strategy to prepare Co_9S_8/S and N dual?doped graphene composite(Co_9S_8/NSG) has been proposed. The key point of this strategy is the function?oriented design of organic compounds. Herein, cobalt porphyrin derivatives with sulfo groups are employed as not only the coupling agents to form and anchor Co_9S_8 on the graphene in situ, but also the heteroatom?doped agent to generate S and N dual?doped graphene. The tight coupling of multiple active sites endows the composite materials with fast electrochemical kinetics and excellent stability for both oxygen reduction reaction(ORR) and oxygen evolution reaction(OER). The obtained electrocatalyst exhibits better activity parameter(ΔE = 0.82 V) and smaller Tafel slope(47.7 mV dec^(-1) for ORR and 69.2 mV dec^(-1) for OER) than commercially available Pt/C and RuO_2. Most importantly, as electrocatalyst for rechargeable Zn–air battery, Co_9S_8/NSG displays low charge–discharge voltage gap and outstanding long?term cycle stability over 138 h compared to Pt/C–RuO_2. To further broaden its application scope, a homemade all?solid?state Zn–air battery is also prepared, which displays good charge–discharge performance and cycle performance. | 16 | Characterization of the aerosol chemical composition during the COVID-19 lockdown period in Suzhou in the Yangtze River Delta,China显示文摘To control the spread of COVID-19,rigorous restrictions have been implemented in China,resulting in a great reduction in pollutant emissions.In this study,we evaluated the air quality in the Yangtze River Delta during the COVID-19 lockdown period using satellite and ground-based data,including particle matter(PM),trace gases,water-soluble ions(WSIs) and black carbon(BC).We found that the impacts of lockdown policy on air quality cannot be accurately assessed using MODIS aerosol optical depth(AOD) data,whereas the tropospheric nitrogen dioxide(NO_(2)) vertical column density can well reflect the influences of these restrictions on human activities.Compared to the pre-COVID period,the PM_(2.5),PM_(10),NO_(2),carbon monoxide(CO),BC and WSIs during the lockdown in Suzhou were observed to decrease by 37.2%,38.3%,64.5%,26.1%,53.3% and 58.6%,respectively,while the sulfur dioxide(SO_(2)) and ozone(O_(3)) increased by 1.5% and 104.7%.The WSIs ranked in the order of NO_(3)~->NH_(4)^(+)>SO_(4)^(2-)>Cl~->Ca^(2+)>K^(+)>Mg^(2+)>Na + during the lockdown period.By comparisons with the ion concentrations during the pre-COVID period,we found that the ions NO 3-,NH 4 +,SO_(4)^(2-),Cl~-,Ca^(2+),K^(+) and Na^(+) decreased by 66.3%,48.8%,52.9%,56.9%,57.9% and 76.3%,respectively,during the lockdown,in contrast to Mg^(2+),which increased by 30.2%.The lockdown policy was found to have great impacts on the diurnal variations of Cl~-,SO_(4)^(2-),Na^(+) and Ca^(2+). | Honglei Wang Qing Miao Lijuan Shen Qian Yang Yezheng Wu Heng Wei Yan Yin Tianliang Zhao Bin Zhu Wen Lu | 2021 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2021,33,4: | 8 |
