3Osteopontin as potential biomarker and therapeutic target in gastric and liver cancers显示文摘Gastric cancer and liver cancer are among the most common malignancies and the leading causes of death worldwide,due to late detection and high recurrence rates.Today,these cancers have a heavy socioeconomic burden,for which a full understanding of their pathophysiological features is warranted to search for promising biomarkers and therapeutic targets.Osteopontin (OPN) is overexpressed in most patients with gastric and liver cancers.Over the past decade,emerging evidence has revealed a correlation of OPN level and clinicopathological features and prognosis in gastric and liver cancers,indicating its potential as an independent prognostic indicator in such patients.Functional studies have verified the potential of OPN knockdown as a therapeutic approach in vitro and in vivo .Furthermore,OPN mediates multifaceted roles in the interaction between cancer cells and the tumor microenvironment,in which many details need further exploration.OPN signaling results in various functions,including prevention of apoptosis,modulation of angiogenesis,malfunction of tumor-associated macrophages,degradation of extracellular matrix,activation of phosphoinositide 3-kinase-Akt and nuclear factor-κB pathways,which lead to tumor formation and progression,particularly in gastric and liver cancers.This editorial aims to review recent findings on alteration in OPN expression and its clinicopathological associations with tumor progression,its potential as a therapeutic target,and putative mechanisms in gastric and liver cancers.Better understanding of the implications of OPN in tumorigenesis might facilitate development of therapeutic regimens to benefit patients with these deadly malignancies.Dong-Xing Cao Zhi-Jie Li Xiao-Ou Jiang Yick Liang Lum Ester Khin Nikki P Lee Guo-Hao Wu John M Luk 2012World Journal of Gastroenterology2012,18,30:29
4History of the infantile hepatic hemangioma:From imaging to generating a differential diagnosis显示文摘We aim to provide an up-to-date summary of infantile hepatic hemangioma(IHH) and its misnomers and to dialectically present the differential diagnosis of these rare entities of the liver.Eligible peer-reviewed articles on hepatic infantile hemangiomas,published between 2000 and 2015,were reviewed for this study.IHH is the most common hepatic vascular tumor in children.Once a liver mass is identified in an infant,the differential diagnosis ranges from vascular malformations to benign and malignant tumors including mesenchymal hamartoma,hepatoblastoma,metastatic neuroblastoma,so careful physical examination,imaging studies,and,if indicated,tumor markers and biopsy,are of pivotal importance to ascertain the correct diagnosis.Despite the benign nature of IHHs,some of these lesions may demand medical and/or surgical intervention,especially for multiple and diffuse IHH.Complications can include hepatomegaly,hypothyroidism and cardiac failure.Therefore,a close follow-up is required until complete involution of the lesions.We propose an algorithm to guide the physicians towards the proper management of hepatic lesions.Maria Gnarra Gerald Behr Alison Kitajewski June K Wu Sudha A Anupindi Carrie J Shawber Nick Zavras Dimitrios Schizas Chris Salakos Konstantinos P Economopoulos 2016World Journal of Clinical Pediatrics2016,5,3:27

7Proton accumulation accelerated by heavy chemical nitrogen fertilization and its long-term impact on acidifying rate in a typical arable soil in the Huang-Huai-Hai Plain显示文摘Cropland productivity has been significantly impacted by soil acidification resulted from nitrogen(N) fertilization, especially as a result of excess ammoniacal N input. With decades' intensive agricultural cultivation and heavy chemical N input in the Huang-Huai-Hai Plain, the impact extent of induced proton input on soil p H in the long term was not yet clear. In this study, acidification rates of different soil layers in the soil profile(0–120 cm) were calculated by p H buffer capacity(p HBC) and net input of protons due to chemical N incorporation. Topsoil(0–20 cm) p H changes of a long-term fertilization field(from 1989) were determined to validate the predicted values. The results showed that the acid and alkali buffer capacities varied significantly in the soil profile, averaged 692 and 39.8 mmolc kg–1 p H–1, respectively. A significant(P<0.05) correlation was found between p HBC and the content of calcium carbonate. Based on the commonly used application rate of urea(500 kg N ha–1 yr–1), the induced proton input in this region was predicted to be 16.1 kmol ha–1 yr–1, and nitrification and plant uptake of nitrate were the most important mechanisms for proton producing and consuming, respectively. The acidification rate of topsoil(0–20 cm) was estimated to be 0.01 unit p H yr–1 at the assumed N fertilization level. From 1989 to 2009, topsoil p H(0–20 cm) of the long-term fertilization field decreased from 8.65 to 8.50 for the PK(phosphorus, 150 kg P2O5 ha–1 yr–1; potassium, 300 kg K2 O ha–1 yr–1; without N fertilization), and 8.30 for NPK(nitrogen, 300 kg N ha–1 yr–1; phosphorus, 150 kg P2O5 ha–1 yr–1; potassium, 300 kg K2 O ha–1 yr–1), respectively. Therefore, the apparent soil acidification rate induced by N fertilization equaled to 0.01 unit p H yr–1, which can be a reference to the estimated result, considering the effect of atmospheric N deposition, crop biomass, field management and plant uptake of other nutrients and cations. 8Surgical vs percutaneous radiofrequency ablation for hepatocellular carcinoma in dangerous locations显示文摘AIM:To compare the long-term outcome of percutaneous vs surgical radiofrequency ablation(RFA) for hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) in dangerous locations.METHODS:One hundred and sixty-two patients with HCC in dangerous locations treated with percutaneous or surgical RFA were enrolled in this study.The patients were divided into percutaneous RFA group and surgical RFA group.After the patients were regularly followed up for a long time,their curative rate,hospital stay time,postoperative complications and 5-year local tumor progression were compared and analyzed.RESULTS:No significant difference was observed in curative rate between the two groups(91.3% vs 96.8%,P = 0.841).The hospital stay time was longer and more analgesics were required while the incidence of bile duct injury and RFA-related hemorrhage was lower in surgical RFA group than in percutaneous RFA group(P < 0.05).The local progression rate of HCC in dangerous locations was significantly lower in surgical RFA group than in percutaneous RFA group(P = 0.05).The relative risk of local tumor progression was 14.315 in percutaneous RFA group.CONCLUSION:The incidence of severe postoperative complications and local tumor progression is lower after surgical RFA than after percutaneous RFA.Ji-Wei Huang Roberto Hernandez-Alejandro Kristopher P Croome Lu-Nan Yan Hong Wu Zhe-Yu Chen Pankaj Prasoon Yong Zeng 2011World Journal of Gastroenterology2011,17,1:14

12即刻或延迟桩腔预备对充填材料封闭根管能力的影响显示文摘目的 :通过流体传输模型测量根管微渗漏的大小 ,比较即刻桩腔预备和延迟桩腔预备对充填材料封闭根管尖部能力的影响。方法 :90颗牙人下颌直根管前磨牙 ,逐步后退技术预备根管后 ,随机选择 5颗牙为阴性对照组 ,5颗为阳性对照组。另 80颗被随机分为A、B、C、D 4组。所有根管均使用侧向加压技术充填 ,但A组、B组和阴性对照组的根管封闭剂为AH2 6 ,C组和D组的根管封闭剂为PulpCanalSealer (PCS) ,阳性对照组不使用根管封闭剂。然后连接于流体传输模型 ,测定根管微渗漏的量。结果 :A组与C组、B组D组之间的根管微渗漏的量没有显著性差异 ,而延迟桩腔预备组根管内微渗漏量显著大于即刻桩腔预备组。结论范兵 樊明文 边专 Wu M-K Wesselink P R 2002口腔医学研究2002,18,6:10
13Landuse/landcover changes in Zhangye oasis of Hexi Corridor显示文摘Taking two f alse color composite Landsat 5 TM (Thematic Mapper) images of band 4,3,2 taken in 1995 and 2000 as data resources, this paper carried out study on LUCC of Zhan gye oasis in recent five years by interpretation according to land reso urces classification system of 1:100,000 Resources and Environmental Data base of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The results show that great changes have taken place in landuse/landcover in Zhangye oasis since 1 995: (1) Changes of landuse structure show that cropland and land for urban c onstruction and built-up area increased, on the contrary, water area an d grassland decreased. These changes reflect the deterioration of eco-e nvironment and the acceleration of urbanization, and also indicate the problems existing in the arrangement of water and land resources betw een the upper and lower reaches of the Heihe River. (2) Regional diff erences of landuse/landcover are evident, characterized by following asp ects: in Sunan County located in Qilian Mountain area, unused land an d grassland decreased, but cropland and land for urban construction an d built-up area increased. In Minle and Shandan counties located in f oothills, unused land, water area and cropland decreased, but grassland and land for urban construction and built-up area increased. 18Integrated photonic systems based on transformation optics enabled gradient index devices显示文摘Integrated photonics is expected to play an increasingly important role in optical communications,imaging,computing and sensing with the promise for significant reduction in the cost and weight of these systems.Future advancement of this technology is critically dependent on an ability to develop compact and reliable optical components and facilitate their integration on a common substrate.Here we reveal,with the utility of the emerging transformation optics technique,that functional components composed of planar gradient index materials can be designed and readily integrated into photonic circuits.The unprecedented design flexibility of transformation optics allows for the creation of a number of novel devices,such as a light source collimator,waveguide adapters and a waveguide crossing,which have broad applications in integrated photonic chips and are compatible with current fabrication technology.Using the finite-difference time-domain method,we perform full-wave numerical simulations to demonstrate their superior optical performance and efficient integration with other components in an on-chip photonic system.These components only require spatially-varying dielectric materials with no magnetic properties,facilitating low-loss,broadband operation in an integrated photonic environment.Qi Wu Jeremiah P Turpin Douglas H Werner 2012Light(Science & Applications)2012,1,1:6
