Adsorption of mixed cationic-nonionic surfactant and its effect on bentonite structure显示文摘The adsorption of cationic-nonionic mixed surfactant onto bentonite and its effect on bentonite structure were investigated. The objective was to improve the understanding of surfactant behavior on clay mineral for its possible use in remediation technologies of soil and groundwater contaminated by toxic organic compounds. The cationic surfactant used was hexadecylpyridinium bromide(HDPB),and the nonionic surfactant was Triton X-100(TX100).Adsorption of TX100 was enhanced significantly by the addition of HDPB,but this enhancement decreased with an increase in the fraction of the cationic surfactant.Part of HDPB was replaced by TX100 which decreased the adsorption of HDPB.However, the total adsorbed amount of the mixed surfactant was still increased substantially, indicating the synergistic effect between the cationic and nonionic surfactants. The surfactant-modified bentonite was characterized by Brunauer-Emmett-Teller specific surface area measurement,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric-derivative thermogravimetric/differential thermal analyses.Surfactant intercalation was found to decrease the bentonite specific surface area, pore volume, and surface roughness and irregularities,as calculated by nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherms. The co-adsorption of the cationic and nonionic surfactants increased the ordering conformation of the adsorbed surfactants on bentonite, but decreased the thermal stability of the organobentonite system.Yaxin Zhang Yan Zhao Yong Zhu Huayong Wu Hongtao Wang Wenjing Lu 2012Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,8:12
Plasma metabolomic and lipidomic alterations associated with COVID-19显示文摘The pandemic of the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)has become a global public health crisis. The symptoms of COVID-19 range from mild to severe, but the physiological changes associated with COVID-19 are barely understood. In this study,we performed targeted metabolomic and lipidomic analyses of plasma from a cohort of patients with COVID-19 who had experienced different symptoms. We found that metabolite and lipid alterations exhibit apparent correlation with the course of disease in these patients, indicating that the development of COVID-19 affected their whole-body metabolism. In particular, malic acid of the TCA cycle and carbamoyl phosphate of the urea cycle result in altered energy metabolism and hepatic dysfunction, respectively. It should be noted that carbamoyl phosphate is profoundly down-regulated in patients who died compared with patients with mild symptoms. And,more importantly, guanosine monophosphate(GMP),which is mediated not only by GMP synthase but also by CD39 and CD73,is significantly changed between healthy subjects and patients with COVID-19,as well as between the mild and fatal cases. In addition, dyslipidemia was observed in patients with COVID-19.Overall,the disturbed metabolic patterns have been found to align with the progress and severity of COVID-19.This work provides valuable knowledge about plasma biomarkers associated with COVID-19 and potential therapeutic targets,as well as an important resource for further studies of the pathogenesis of COVID-19.Di Wu Ting Shu Xiaobo Yang Jian-Xin Song Mingliang Zhang Chengye Yao Wen Liu Muhan Huang Yuan Yu Qingyu Yang Tingju Zhu Jiqian Xu Jingfang Mu Yaxin Wang Hong Wang Tang Tang Yujie Ren Yongran Wu Shu-Hai Lin Yang Qiu Ding-Yu Zhang You Shang Xi Zhou 2020National Science Review2020,7,7:9
Effects of substituent and solvent on the UV absorption energy of 4,4'-disubstituted stilbenes显示文摘Twenty five samples of 4,4'-disubstituted stilbene derivatives were synthesized, and their UV absorption max wavelengths were determined in over 10 kinds of solvents including cyclohexane, ether, chloroform, acetonitrile and ethanol, in which 242 experimental data were recorded. The effects of substituents and solvents on the energy of their UV absorption max wavelengths were discussed. The research results showed: the energy of UV absorption max wavelengths of 4,4'-disubstituted stilbenes was mainly affected by their intramolecular structure (substituent effect) in a given solvent, that is, the energy is dominated by both of excited-state substituent parameter ? CexC and polar substituent constant ?p. While their energy was dominated by the substituent effect and solvent effect in different kinds of solvents. An equation quanti- fying the energy of UV absorption max wavelengths of 4,4'-disubstituted stilbenes was developed. In addition, it is found that the n-octanol/water partition coefficient (logP) is more effective than the solvatochromic dye (ET(30)) in scaling the solvent effect. The equation employed the parameter logP has a better correlation and more specific physical meaning. Further, the energies of UV absorption max wavelengths of some reported compounds were predicted by the obtained equation, which are in agreement with their experimental values.CAO ChenZhong CHEN GuanFan WU YaXin 2011Science China Chemistry2011,54,11:6
Recent progress in quantifying substituent effects显示文摘This paper summarizes significant progress in quantifying organic substituent effects in the last 20 years. The main content is as follows: (1) The principle of electronegativity equalization has gained wide acceptance, and has been used to calculate the intramolecular charge distribution and inductive effect of groups. A valence electrons equalization method was proposed to compute the molecular electronegativity on the basis of geometric mean method, harmonic mean method, and weighted mean method. This new calculation method further extended the application of the principle of electronegativity equalization. (2) A scale method was established for experimentally determining the electrophilic and nucleophilic ability of reagents, in which benzhydryliumions and quinone methides were taken as the reference compounds, and the research field was extended to the gas phase conditions, organometallic reaction and radicals system. Moreover, the nucleophilicity parameters N and electrophilicity parameters E for a series of reagents were obtained. The definition and quantitative expression of electrophilicity index and nucleophilicity index were proposed theoretically, and the correlation between the parameters from experimental determination and the indexes from theoretical calculation was also investigated. (3) The polarizability effect parameter was initially calculated by empirical method and further developed by quantum chemistry method. Recently, the polarizability effect index of alkyl (PEI) and groups (PEI X ) were proposed by statistical method, and got wide applications in explaining and estimating gas-phase acidity and basicity, ionization energy, enthalpy of formation, bond energy, reaction rate, water solubility and chromatographic retention for organic compounds. (4) The excited-state substituent constant ex CC obtained directly from the UV absorption energy data of substituted benzenes, is different from the polar constants in molecular ground state and the radical spin-delocalization effects constants in molecular radical state. The proposed constant ex CC correlated well with the UV absorption energy of many kinds of organic compounds, such as 1,4-disubstituted benzenes, substituted stilbenes, and disubstituted N-benzylidenebenzenamine. (5) The establishment of the steric shielding effect distinguished the three traditional steric effects. The stereoselectivity index C i was proposed to quantify the stereoselectivity of the addition reaction of carbonyl with nucleophilic reagent. The shielding parameter S R was defined to quantitatively express the specific surface of the reaction center screened by a group. Further, the Topological Steric Effect Index (TSEI) of a group was proposed on the basis of the relative specific volume of reaction center screened by the atoms of substituents. These parameters can be applied in estimating the intramolecular dihedral angles, stereoselectivity of reaction, enthalpies of formation of alkenes and alkylbenzene, acidity of substitutedimidazolium ionic liquid, and the reaction rate of alkane and hydroxyl radical. In addition, some suggestions and prospects for further studies on quantifying the organic substituent effects were presented in this paper.CAO ChenZhong WU YaXin 2013Science China Chemistry2013,56,7:4
Identifi cation of egg protein-derived peptides as xanthine oxidase inhibitors:virtual hydrolysis, molecular docking, and in vitro activity evaluation显示文摘The purpose of this study was to screen the xanthine oxidase(XO)inhibitory peptides from egg white proteins through virtual hydrolysis,in vitro activity validation, and molecular docking. The results demonstrated that tripeptide EEK from ovalbumin exhibited potent XO inhibitory activity with an IC50 value of 141μmol/L.The molecular docking results showed that tripeptide EEK bound with the active center of XO via 3 carbon hydrogen bond interactions,2 salt bridges,5 conventional hydrogen bond interactions, and 4 attractive charge interactions. The residues Glu802,Phe1009,and Arg880 may play key roles in the XO catalytic reaction.Especially, the key intermolecular forces of inhibiting XO activity may be special type of hydrogen bonds including carbon hydrogen bond interactions and attraction charge interactions. The novel tripeptide EEK is potential candidates for controlling hyperuricemia.Zhipeng Yu Yaxin Cao Ruotong Kan Huizhuo Ji Wenzhu Zhao Sijia Wu Jingbo Liu David Shiuan 2022Food Science and Human Wellness2022,11,6:3

Intersected functional zone of transcriptional regulators patterns stemness within stem cell niche of root apical meristem显示文摘Root stem cell niche(SCN)consists of a quiescent center(QC)and surrounding stem cells.Disrupted symplastic communication leads to loss of stemness in the whole SCN.Several SCN regulators were reported to move between cells for SCN main-tenance.However,single mutant of these regulators is insu?cient to abolish QC stemness despite the high differentiation rate in surrounding stem cells. To dis-sect the mechanism behind such distinct stemness in SCN,we combined the mis-expression strategy with pWOX5:icals3m system in which QC is symplastically isolated. We found the starch accumulation in QC could be synergistically repressed by WUSCHEL-RE-LATED HOMEOBOX 5(WOX5),SHORT-ROOT(SHR),SCARCROW(SCR),and PLETHORA(PLT).Like PLTs,other core regulators also exhibited dimorphicfunctions by inhibiting differentiation at a higher dose while promoting cell division at a low protein level.Being located in the center of the intersected ex-pression zones,QC cells receive the highest level of core regulators, forming the most robust stemness within SCN.WUSCHEL-RELATED HOMEOBOX 5 was su?cient to activate PLT1/2 expression, contributing to the QC-enriched PLTs.Our results provide ex-perimental evidence supporting the long-standing hypothesis that the combination of spatial ex-pression,synergistic function and dosage effect of core regulators result in spatially distinct stemness in SCN.Meizhi Xu Xu Gu Nengsong Liang Xinxin Bian Hong Wang Yaxin Qin Limin Pi Shuang Wu 2020Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2020,62,7:1
Lipidomic analyses reveal enhanced lipolysis in planthoppers feeding on resistant host plants显示文摘The brown planthopper(BPH)(Nilaparvata lugens St?l)is a highly destructive pest that seriously damages rice(Oryza sativa L.)and causes severe yield losses. To better understand the physiological and metabolic mechanisms through which BPHs respond to resistant rice,we combined mass-spectrometry-based lipidomics with transcriptomic analysis and gene knockdown techniques to compare the lipidomes of BPHs feeding on either of the two resistant(NIL-Bph6 and NIL-Bph9)plants or a wild-type,BPH susceptible(9311)plant.Insects that were fed on resistant rice transformed triglyceride(TG)to phosphatidylcholine(PC)and digalactosyldiacylglycerol(DGDG),with these lipid classes showing significant alterations in fatty acid composition. Moreover, the insects that were fed on resistant rice were characterized by prominent expression changes in genes involved in lipid metabolism processes.Knockdown of the NlBmm gene, which encodes a lipase that regulates the mobilization of lipid reserves, significantly increased TG content and feeding performance of BPHs on resistant plants relative to dsGFP-injected BPHs.Our study provides the first detailed description of lipid changes in BPHs fed on resistant and susceptible rice genotypes. Results from BPHs fed on resistant rice plants reveal that these insects can accelerate TG mobilization to provide energy for cell proliferation, body maintenance, growth and oviposition.Xiaohong Zheng Yeyun Xin Yaxin Peng Junhan Shan Ning Zhang Di Wu Jianping Guo Jin Huang Wei Guan Shaojie Shi Cong Zhou Rongzhi Chen Bo Du Lili Zhu Fang Yang Xiqin Fu Longping Yuan Guangcun He 2021Science China(Life Sciences)2021,64,9:1
Self-enhanced photothermal-chemodynamic antibacterial agents for synergistic anti-infective therapy显示文摘Cu_(2-x)S nanostructures have been intensively studied as outstanding chemodynamic therapy(CDT)and good photothermal therapy(PTT)antibacterial agents due to their highly efficient Cu(Ⅰ)-initiated Fenton-like catalytic activity and good photothermal conversion property. However, they still suffer from shortage of Cu(Ⅰ)supply in the long-term and comparatively low inherent photothermal conversion efficiency.Herein,we constructed a self-enhanced synergistic PTT/CDT nanoplatform(Cu_(1.94)S@MPN)by coating Cu_(1.94)S nanoparticles with Fe(Ⅲ)/tannic acid based metal-polyphenol networks(MPN).Activated by the acidic bacterial infection microenvironment,Cu_(1.94)S@MPN could be decomposed to continuously release Cu(Ⅱ),Fe(Ⅲ)ions and tannic acid.As the result of tannic acid-involved Cu and Fe redox cycling,Cu(Ⅰ)/Fe(Ⅱ)-rich CDT could be achieved through the highly accelerated catalytic Fenton/Fenton-like reactions.More importantly, experimental results demonstrated that Cu_(1.94)S@MPN exhibited both excellent photothermal antibacterial and photothermal-enhanced CDT properties to eradicate bacteria in vitro and in vivo.Overall, this novel nanotherapeutics has great potential to become a clinic candidate for anti-infective therapy in future.Ning Guo Yu Xia Yuxi Duan Quanxin Wu Le Xiao Yaxin Shi Bin Yang Yun Liu 2023Chinese Chemical Letters2023,34,2:0

Promoted catalytic performance of Ag-Mn bimetal catalysts synthesized through reduction route显示文摘VOCs can exert great harm to both human and environment, and catalytic oxidation is believed to be an effective technique to eliminate these pollutants. In this paper,Ag-Mn bimetal catalysts with 10 wt.%of silver were synthesized using doping, impregnation, and reduction methods respectively, and then they were applied to the catalytic oxidation of benzene.Through series of characterizations it showed that the loading of silver using reduction method significantly resulted in improved physico-chemical properties of manganese oxides, such as larger surface area and pore volume, higher proportion of surface Mn~(3+)and Mn~(4+),stronger reducibility and more active of surface oxygen species, which were all beneficial to its catalytic activity. As a result, the Ag-Mn catalysts synthesized by reduction method showed a lower T_(90)value(equals to the temperature at which 90%of initial benzene was removed)of 203℃.Besides,both the used and fresh Ag-Mn catalysts synthesized by reduction method showed preferable stability in this research.Wenkai Hu Tao Guo Kaiyao Ma Xu Li Wangting Luo Mingzhi Wu Hao Guo Yaxin Zhang Wenfeng Shangguan 2024Journal of Environmental Sciences2024,,3:0
Symplastic communication in the root cap directs auxin distribution to modulate root development显示文摘Root cap not only protects root meristem, but also detects and transduces the signals of environmental changes to affect root development. The symplastic communication is an important way for plants to transduce signals to coordinate the development and physiology in response to the changing enviroments. However,it is unclear how the symplastic communication between root cap cells affects root growth. Here we exploit an inducible system to specifically block the symplastic communication in the root cap.Transient blockage of plasmodesmata(PD)in differentiated collumella cells severely impairs the root development in Arabidopsis,in particular in the stem cell niche and the proximal meristem. The neighboring stem cell niche is the region that is most sensitive to the disrupted symplastic communication and responds rapidly via the alteration of auxin distribution. In the later stage, the cell division in proximal meristem is inhibited, presumably due to the reduced auxin level in the root cap.Our results reveal the essential role of the differentiated collumella cells in the root cap mediated signaling system that directs root development.Meng Li Mengxue Wang Qingyun Lin Mengyao Wang Xufang Niu Jie Cheng Meizhi Xu Yaxin Qin Xinyi Liao Jian Xu Shuang Wu 2022Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2022,64,4:0
Temporal and spatial stability of the EM/PM molecular subtypes in adult diffuse glioma显示文摘Detailed characterizations of genomic alterations have not identified subtype-specific vulnerabilities in adult gliomas. Mapping gliomas into developmental programs may uncover new vulnerabilities that are not strictly related to genomic alterations. After identifying conserved gene modules co-expressed with EGFR or PDGFRA (EM or PM), we recently proposed an EM/PM classification scheme for adult gliomas in a histological subtype- and grade-independent manner. By using cohorts of bulk samples, paired primary and recurrent samples, multi-region samples from the same glioma, single-cell RNA-seq samples, and clinical samples, we here demonstrate the temporal and spatial stability of the EM and PM subtypes. The EM and PM subtypes, which progress in a subtype-specific mode, are robustly maintained in paired longitudinal samples. Elevated activities of cell proliferation, genomic instability and microenvironment, rather than subtype switching, mark recurrent gliomas. Within individual gliomas, the EM/PM subtype was preserved across regions and single cells. Malignant cells in the EM and PM gliomas were correlated to neural stem cell and oligodendrocyte progenitor cell compartment, respectively. Thus, while genetic makeup may change during progression and/or within different tumor areas, adult gliomas evolve within a neurodevelopmental framework of the EM and PM molecular subtypes. The dysregulated developmental pathways embedded in these molecular subtypes may contain subtype-specific vulnerabilities.Jing Feng Zheng Zhao Yanfei Wei Zhaoshi Bao Wei Zhang Fan Wu Guanzhang Li Zhiyan Sun Yanli Tan Jiuyi Li Yunqiu Zhang Zejun Duan Xueling Qi Kai Yu Zhengmin Cong Junjie Yang Yaxin Wang Yingyu Sun Fuchou Tang Xiaodong Su Chuan Fang Tao Jiang Xiaolong Fan 2023Frontiers of Medicine2023,17,2:0
Shallow Convection Dataset Simulated by Three Different Large Eddy Models显示文摘Shallow convection plays an important role in transporting heat and moisture from the near-surface to higher altitudes, yet its parameterization in numerical models remains a great challenge, partly due to the lack of high-resolution observations. This study describes a large eddy simulation(LES)dataset for four shallow convection cases that differ primarily in inversion strength, which can be used as a surrogate for real data.To reduce the uncertainty in LES modeling, three different large eddy models were used, including SAM(System for Atmospheric Modeling),WRF(Weather Research and Forecasting model),and UCLA-LES.Results show that the different models generally exhibit similar behavior for each shallow convection case, despite some differences in the details of the convective structure. In addition to grid-averaged fields, conditionally sampled variables, such as in-cloud moisture and vertical velocity, are also provided, which are indispensable for calculation of the entrainment/detrainment rate.Considering the essentiality of the entraining/detraining process in the parameterization of cumulus convection, the dataset presented in this study is potentially useful for validation and improvement of the parameterization of shallow convection.Yaxin ZHAO Xiaocong WANG Yimin LIU Guoxiong WU Yanjie LIU 2024Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2024,41,4:0
Distribution of soil water-stable aggrega-tes and organic carbon content affected by tillage systems:a meta-analysis显示文摘A better understanding of soil carbon(C)distribution within aggregate fractions is essential to evaluating the potential of no-till for sustaining productivity and protecting the environment.A meta-analysis on 744 comparisons from 34 studies was conducted to determine the effects of three different tillage treatments(conventional mouldbould ploughing tillage(CT),reduced tillage(RT)and no tillage(NT))on water-stable aggregate size distribution, soil C concentration in aggregate fractions. The meta-analysis indicates that compared with CT treatment,NT/RT significantly(P<0.05)increases macro-aggregate above 20 cm by 20.9%-82.2%(>2.00 mm)and 5.9%-19.1%(0.25-2.00 mm),whereas NT/RT significantly reduces micro-aggregate and silt clay fractions above 20 cm.NT/RT significantly(P<0.05)increases the SOC in macro-aggregate(>0.25 mm)and micro-aggregate(<0.25 mm)size classes above 20 cm soil depth compared with CT.The results suggest that soil sampling depth should be considered to evaluate the influence of tillage systems on the distribution of soil aggregate, and the content of aggregate-associated C content.LU Xingli LI Shanshan LIU Jihu DUAN Yaxin YUE Heng KANG Jianhong WU Hongliang 2021排灌机械工程学报2021,39,10:0
