1Geomicrobial functional groups:A window on the interaction between life and environments显示文摘Microbes are well-known for their great diversity and abundance in modern natural environments.They also are believed to pro-vide critical links among higher organisms and their associated environments.However,the low diversity of morphological fea-tures and structures of ancient microbes preserved in sediments and rocks make them difficult to identify and classify.This diffi-culty greatly hinders the investigation of geomicrobes throughout Earth history.Thus,most previous paleontological studies have focused on faunal and floral fossils.Here,geomicrobial functional groups(GFGs),or a collection of microbes featured in specific ecological,physiological or biogeochemical functions,are suggested to provide a way to overcome the difficulties of ancient mi-crobe investigations.GFGs are known for their great diversity in ecological,physiological and biogeochemical functions.In addi-tion,GFGs may be preserved as the biogeochemical,mineralogical and sedimentological records in sediments and rocks.We reviewed the functions,origins and identification diagnostics of some important GFGs involved in the elemental cycles of carbon,sulfur,nitrogen and iron.GFGs were further discussed with respect to their significant impacts on paleoclimate,sulfur chemistry of ancient seawater,nutritional status of geological environments,and the deposition of Precambrian banded iron formations.XIE ShuCheng YANG Huan LUO GenMing HUANG XianYu LIU Deng WANG YongBiao GONG YiMing XU Rana 2012Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,1:11
2Creep Behaviors of DA Casting and Rolling GH4169 Superalloy显示文摘After the billet of Casting and Rolling GH4169 alloy was directly aged (DA) treated at 720 ℃ and 620 ℃, creep behavior and deformed features of the alloy were investigated by means of the measurement of creep curves and microstructure observation. Results show that the DA Casting and Rolling GH4169 Superalloy displays a lower strain rate during creep and longer lifetimes under the condition of the applied stress of 700 MPa at 650 ℃ , the creep lifetimes of the alloy decrease to 127 h as temperature is elevated to 660 ℃ , and therefore the alloy exhibits an obvious sensitivity of the applied temperatures. During creep, the deformation mechanism of the alloy is thought to be the twinning deformation and slipping of dislocation within the twinning regions. Thereinto, the dislocation slipping of the single and double orientations occur within the twins. 3Control allocation for a V/STOL aircraft based on robust fuzzy control显示文摘This study addresses the design of an output-feedback H-infinity and fuzzy mixed controller for an advanced vertical and/or short take-off and landing aircraft that exhibits satisfactory global stability criteria. A fuzzy logic based optimization approach is employed to solve autonomously the constrained control allocation problem by suitably adjusting the components of the output vector and finding a proper vector in the attainable moment set. 4Experimental Study on Effects of Fuel Injection on Scramjet Combustor Performance显示文摘In order to investigate the effects of fuel injection distribution on the scramjet combustor performance, there are conducted three sets of test on a hydrocarbon fueled direct-connect scramjet test facility. The results of Test A, whose fuel injection is carried out with injectors located on the top-wall and the bottom-wall, show that the fuel injection with an appropriate close-front and centralized distribution would be of much help to optimize combustor performances. The results of Test B, whose fuel injection is performed at the optimal injection locations found in Test A, with a given equivalence ratio and different injection proportions for each injector, show that this injection mode is of little benefit to improve combustor performances. The results of Test C with a circumferential fuel injection distribution displaies the possibility of ameliorating combustor performance. By analyzing the effects of injection location parameters on combustor performances on the base of the data of Test C, it is clear that the injector location has strong coupled influences on combus- tor performances. 5Creep Behaviors of FGH95 Powder Ni-Base Superalloy显示文摘This article makes an investigation into the creep behavior and deformation features of FGH95 powder Ni-base superalloy by means of creep curves and microstructural observation.Results show that this superalloy exposes obvious sensibility to the applied temperature and stresses in the experimental range.Microstructure of the alloy consists of γ' phase of various sizes and dispersed carbide particles precipitated in the wider crystal boundaries between the powder particles.During the creep,the deformation of the alloy occurs in the form of single-or double-oriented slipping inside the grains,and some of the finer carbide particles are precipitated near the slipping traces.The wide grain boundaries might be broken into the finer grains due to severe deformation.The deformation mechanism of the alloy during creep is thought to be the activation of dislocations of double-oriented slipping,including(1/2)<110> dislocation inside the γ matrix phase and <110> super-dislocation inside the γ' phase.The formation of the stacking faults and(1/3)<112> super-Shockleys partial dislocation configuration is attributed to the decomposition of <110> super-dislocation in the γ' phase.Tian Sugui Liu Yang Zhou Xiaoming Zhao Zhonggang Bao Xianyu Wang Wuxiang 2009Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2009,22,4:6
6Microbial roles equivalent to geological agents of high temperature and pressure in deep Earth显示文摘Microbes not only show sensitive responses to environmental changes but also play important roles in geochemical and geophysical systems. It is well known that microbes have caused major changes in surface environments and biogeochemical cycles through Earth history. Microbial processes can also induce the synthesis of certain minerals under Earth-surface conditions that previously were believed to form only under high temperatures and pressures in the deep Earth. For example, microbes can promote the conversion of smectite to illite, synthesis of authigenic plagioclase, precipitation of dolomite, and biotransformation of geolipids. These effects of microbes are due to their large surface/volume ratios, enzyme production, and abundant functional groups. Microbial catalyzation of chemical reactions proceeds through reaction-specific enzymes, a decrease in Gibbs' s free energy, and/or break through the dynamics reaction thresholds via their metabolisms and physiology. Microbes can lower the surface free energy of mineral nuclei via biophysical adsorption due to their large surface/volume ratios and abundant functional groups. 7Petroleum coke conversion behavior in catalyst-assisted chemical looping combustion显示文摘Efficiently using petroleum coke as fuel and reducing carbon emission meanwhile have become attractive in oil processing industry.The paper is focused on the application of Chemical Looping Combustion(CLC)with petroleum coke,with the purpose of investigating its combustion performance and effects of potassium.Some experiments were performed in a laboratory scale fluidized bed facility with a natural manganese-based oxygen carrier.Experimental results indicated that the coke conversion is very sensitive to reaction temperature.The pre sent natural manganese-based oxygen carrier decorated by K has little effect on the improvement of coke conversion.XRD,SEM-EDX,and H2-TPR were adopted to characterize the reacted oxygen carrier samples.After being decorated by K,the oxygen carrier's capacity of transferring oxygen was decrea sed.A calcination temperature above the melting point of K2 CO3(891℃)shows better oxygen transfer reactivity in comparison to the one calcined at a lower temperature.The natural oxygen carrier used in the work has a high content of Si,which can easily react with K to form K(FeSi2 O6).Further,irrespective of reaction temperature,the coke conversion can be significantly enhanced by decorating the coke with K,with a demonstration of remarkably shorter reaction time,faster average coke gasification rate and higher average carbon conversion rate.Xianyu Liu Huijun Ge Shiwei Ma Shangyi Yin Ping Lu Laihong Shen Hongcun Bai Wei Wang Tao Song 2020Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2020,28,9:3
8SPDEF suppresses head and neck squamous cell carcinoma progression by transcriptionally activating NR4A1显示文摘SAM pointed domain containing E26 transformation-specific transcription factor(SPDEF)plays dual roles in the initiation and development of human malignancies.However,the biological role of SPDEF in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma(HNSCC)remains unclear.In this study,the expression level of SPDEF and its correlation with the clinical parameters of patients with HNSCC were determined using TCGA-HNSC,GSE65858,and our own clinical cohorts.CCK8,colony formation,cell cycle analysis,and a xenograft tumor growth model were used to determine the molecular functions of SPDEF in HNSCC.ChIP-qPCR,dual luciferase reporter assay,and rescue experiments were conducted to explore the potential molecular mechanism of SPDEF in HNSCC.Compared with normal epithelial tissues,SPDEF was significantly downregulated in HNSCC tissues.Patients with HNSCC with low SPDEF mRNA levels exhibited poor clinical outcomes.Restoring SPDEF inhibited HNSCC cell viability and colony formation and induced G0/G1 cell cycle arrest,while silencing SPDEF promoted cell proliferation in vitro.The xenograft tumor growth model showed that tumors with SPDEF overexpression had slower growth rates,smaller volumes,and lower weights.SPDEF could directly bind to the promoter region of NR4A1 and promoted its transcription,inducing the suppression of AKT,MAPK,and NF-κB signaling pathways.Moreover,silencing NR4A1 blocked the suppressive effect of SPDEF in HNSCC cells.Here,we demonstrate that SPDEF acts as a tumor suppressor by transcriptionally activating NR4A1 in HNSCC.Our findings provide novel insights into the molecular mechanism of SPDEF in tumorigenesis and a novel potential therapeutic target for HNSCC.Yanting Wang Xianyue Ren Weiyu Li Ruoyan Cao Suyang Liu Laibo Jiang Bin Cheng Juan Xia 2021International Journal of Oral Science2021,13,4:3
9New Approach for Rapid Assessment of Trophic Status of Yellow Sea and East China Sea Using Easy-to-Measure Parameters显示文摘To realize potential cost savings in coastal monitoring programs and provide timely advice for marine management, there is an urgent need for efficient evaluation tools based on easily measured variables for the rapid and timely assessment of estuarine and offshore eutrophication. In this study, using parallel factor analysis(PARAFAC), principal component analysis(PCA), and discriminant function analysis(DFA) with the trophic index(TRIX) for reference, we developed an approach for rapidly assessing the eutrophication status of coastal waters using easy-to-measure parameters, including chromophoric dissolved organic matter(CDOM), fluorescence excitation–emission matrices, CDOM UV-Vis absorbance, and other water-quality parameters(turbidity, chlorophyll a, and dissolved oxygen). First, we decomposed CDOM excitation-emission matrices(EEMs) by PARAFAC to identify three components. Then, we applied PCA to simplify the complexity of the relationships between the water-quality parameters. Finally, we used the PCA score values as independent variables in DFA to develop a eutrophication assessment model. The developed model yielded classification accuracy rates of 97.1%, 80.5%, 90.3%, and 89.1% for good, moderate, and poor water qualities, and for the overall data sets, respectively. 10Structural mechanism of cooperative activation of the human calcium-sensing receptor by Ca^(2+) ions and L-tryptophan显示文摘The human calcium-sensing receptor(CaSR)is a class C G protein-coupled receptor(GPCR)responsible for maintaining Ca^(2+)homeostasis in the blood.The general consensus is that extracellular Ca^(2+)is the principal agonist of CaSR.Aliphatic and aromatic L-amino acids,such as L-Phe and L-Trp,increase the sensitivity of CaSR towards Ca^(2+)and are considered allosteric activators.Crystal structures of the extracellular domain(ECD)of CaSR dimer have demonstrated Ca^(2+)and L-Trp binding sites and conformational changes of the ECD upon Ca^(2+)/L-Trp binding.However,it remains to be understood at the structural level how Ca^(2+)/L-Trp binding to the ECD leads to conformational changes in transmembrane domains(TMDs)and consequent CaSR activation.Here,we determined the structures of full-length human CaSR in the inactive state,Ca^(2+)-or L-Trp-bound states,and Ca^(2+)/L-Trp-bound active state using single-particle cryo-electron microscopy.Structural studies demonstrate that L-Trp binding induces the closure of the Venus flytrap(VFT)domain of CaSR,bringing the receptor into an intermediate active state.Ca^(2+)binding relays the conformational changes from the VFT domains to the TMDs,consequently inducing close contact between the two TMDs of dimeric CaSR,activating the receptor.Importantly,our structural and functional studies reveal that Ca^(2+)ions and L-Trp activate CaSR cooperatively.Amino acids are not able to activate CaSR alone,but can promote the receptor activation in the presence of Ca^(2+).Our data provide complementary insights into the activation of class C GPCRs and may aid in the development of novel drugs targeting CaSR.Shenglong Ling Pan Shi Sanling Liu Xianyu Meng Yingxin Zhou Wenjing Sun Shenghai Chang Xing Zhang Longhua Zhang Chaowei Shi Demeng Sun Lei Liu Changlin Tian 2021Cell Research2021,31,4:3
11Architecture of Co-layered double hydroxide nanocages/graphene composite electrode with high electrochemical performance for supercapacitor显示文摘A facile hydrolysis method was applied to fabricate high-performance Co-layered double hydroxide(LDH)nanocages/graphene composites for supercapacitors. The materials exhibit enhanced rate capability than the counterpart electrode free of graphene while maintaining a high specific capacitance. In addition,such Co-LDH nanocages/graphene composites display an excellent cycling stability; the capacitance retention of Co-LDH nanocages/graphene composite electrode remains 90.4% after 10000 cycles at a current density of 2 A g(-1). 12Effects of florfenicol exposure on growth,development and antioxidant capacity of flounder Paralichthys olivaceus larvae at different developmental stages显示文摘Antibiotics are widespread in various environmental media,and may pose a potential threat to aquatic ecosystems and non-target aquatic organisms.Florfenicol(FLO)is one of the most commonly used antibiotics in aquaculture,and extensively used to substitute chloramphenicol with its strong sterilization and low adverse ef fect.In this study,flounder Paralichthys olivaceus,an important economic fish species in seawater was used as an experimental subject.Five exposure concentrations of FLO(including environmentrelated concentrations)were set at 0,0.01,0.1,1,and 10 mg/L.Ef fects of FLO exposure for 168 h on growth and development,motor behavior,antioxidant enzyme activity,malondialdehyde(MDA)content,and thyroid hormone level of P.olivaceus larvae were studied in pre-larvae(1 dpf)and post-larvae(20 dpf).The results show that the short-term FLO exposure could promote the larvae growth to some degrees,but inhibit them as the exposure time prolonged.For pre-larvae,FLO at 0.01 mg/L could stimulate the motor nerve system and increase the swimming ability,but inhibited it at 1 mg/L.With the increasing dosage of FLO,the superoxide dismutase(SOD)and MDA contents were elevated,reaching the maximum in the 1 mg/L FLO group.The pre-larvae were more sensitive than the post-larvae to FLO in the environment,and the growth and immune resistance could be damaged with long exposure.Post-larvae were more tolerant to external pollutants,FLO at 1 mg/L could promote the motor behavior and reduce SOD and MDA contents.Therefore,FLO can be used as an antibiotic at a proper concentration but as a drug to prevent disease in a long-term way.GUO Rui ZHANG Yingqi ZHANG Xianyu ZHANG Qian CHENG Rui MD MOSTAFIZUR Rahman LIU Ying 2020Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2020,38,2:1
