Wnt and BMP signaling crosstalk in regulating dental stem cells:Implications in dental tissue engineering显示文摘Tooth is a complex hard tissue organ and consists of multiple cell types that are regulated by important signaling pathways such as Wnt and BMP signaling.Serious injuries and/or loss of tooth or periodontal tissues may significantly impact aesthetic appearance, essential oral functions and the quality of life.Regenerative dentistry holds great promise in treating oral/dental disorders. The past decade has witnessed a rapid expansion of our understanding of the biological features of dental stem cells, along with the signaling mechanisms governing stem cell self-renewal and differentiation. In this review,we first summarize the biological characteristics of seven types of dental stem cells, including dental pulp stem cells, stem cells from apical papilla, stem cells from human exfoliated deciduous teeth, dental follicle precursor cells, periodontal ligament stem cells, alveolar bone-derived mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs),and MSCs from gingiva. We then focus on how these stem cells are regulated by bone morphogenetic protein(BMP)and/or Wnt signaling by examining the interplays between these pathways.Lastly,we analyze the current status of dental tissue engineering strategies that utilize oral/dental stem cells by harnessing the interplays between BMP and Wnt pathways. We also highlight the challenges that must be addressed before the dental stem cells may reach any clinical applications. Thus,we can expect to witness significant progresses to be made in regenerative dentistry in the coming decade. | Fugui Zhang Jinlin Song Hongmei Zhang Enyi Huang Dongzhe Song Viktor Tollemar Jing Wang Jinhua Wang Maryam Mohammed Qiang Wei Jiaming Fan Junyi Liao Yulong Zou Feng Liu Xue Hu Xiangyang Qu Liqun Chen Xinyi Yu Hue H.Luu Michael J.Lee Tong-Chuan He Ping Ji | 2016 | Genes & Diseases2016,3,4: | 16
Insight-HXMT observations of the first binary neutron star merger GW170817显示文摘Finding the electromagnetic(EM) counterpart of binary compact star merger, especially the binary neutron star(BNS) merger,is critically important for gravitational wave(GW) astronomy, cosmology and fundamental physics. On Aug. 17, 2017,Advanced LIGO and Fermi/GBM independently triggered the first BNS merger, GW170817, and its high energy EM counterpart,GRB 170817 A, respectively, resulting in a global observation campaign covering gamma-ray, X-ray, UV, optical, IR, radio as well as neutrinos. The High Energy X-ray telescope(HE) onboard Insight-HXMT(Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope) is the unique high-energy gamma-ray telescope that monitored the entire GW localization area and especially the optical counterpart(SSS17 a/AT2017 gfo) with very large collection area(~1000 cm^2) and microsecond time resolution in 0.2-5 MeV. In addition,Insight-HXMT quickly implemented a Target of Opportunity(ToO) observation to scan the GW localization area for potential X-ray emission from the GW source. Although Insight-HXMT did not detect any significant high energy(0.2-5 MeV) radiation from GW170817, its observation helped to confirm the unexpected weak and soft nature of GRB 170817 A. Meanwhile,Insight-HXMT/HE provides one of the most stringent constraints(~10^(-7) to 10^(-6) erg/cm^2/s) for both GRB170817 A and any other possible precursor or extended emissions in 0.2-5 MeV, which help us to better understand the properties of EM radiation from this BNS merger. Therefore the observation of Insight-HXMT constitutes an important chapter in the full context of multi-wavelength and multi-messenger observation of this historical GW event. | TiPei Li ShaoLin Xiong ShuangNan Zhang FangJun Lu LiMing Song XueLei Cao Zhi Chang Gang Chen Li Chen TianXiang Chen Yong Chen YiBao Chen YuPeng Chen Wei Cui WeiWei Cui JingKang Deng YongWei Dong YuanYuan Du MinXue Fu GuanHua Gao He Gao Min Gao MingYu Ge YuDong Gu Ju Guan ChengCheng Guo DaWei Han Wei Hu Yue Huang Jia Huo ShuMei Jia LuHua Jiang WeiChun Jiang Jing Jin YongJie Jin Bing Li ChengKui Li Gang Li MaoShun Li Wei Li Xian Li XiaoBo Li XuFang Li YanGuo Li ZiJian Li ZhengWei Li XiaoHua Liang JinYuan Liao CongZhan Liu GuoQing Liu HongWei Liu ShaoZhen Liu XiaoJing Liu Yuan Liu YiNong Liu Bo Lu XueFeng Lu Tao Luo Xiang Ma Bin Meng Yi Nang JianYin Nie Ge OU JinLu Qu Na Sai Liang Sun Yin Tan Lian Tao WenHui Tao YouLi Tuo GuoFeng Wang HuanYu Wang Juan Wang WenShuai Wang YuSa Wang XiangYang Wen BoBing WU Mei Wu GuangCheng Xiao He Xu YuPeng Xu LinLi Yan JiaWei Yang Sheng Yang YanJi Yang AiMei Zhang ChunLei Zhang ChengMo Zhang Fan Zhang HongMei Zhang Juan Zhang Qiang Zhang Shu Zhang Tong Zhang Wei Zhang WanChang Zhang WenZhao Zhang Yi Zhang Yue Zhang YiFei Zhang YongJie Zhang Zhao Zhang ZiLiang Zhang HaiSheng Zhao JianLing Zhao XiaoFan Zhao ShiJie Zheng Yue Zhu YuXuan Zhu ChangLin Zou | 2018 | Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2018,61,3: | 12

Rapid growth and sterility of growth hormone gene transgenic triploid carp显示文摘Triploid carp(100%)with 150(3n=150)chromosomes were obtained by crossing the females of improved tetraploid hybrids(♀, 4n=200)of red crucian carp(♀)×common carp(♂)with the males of diploid yellow river carp(♂,2n=100).The crosses yielded transgenic triploid carp(positive triploid fish,44.2%of the progeny)and non-transgenic triploid carp(negative triploid fish). Histological examination of the gonads of 24-month-old positive triploid fish suggested they were sterile and the fish were not able to produce mature gametes during the breeding season.Morphologically, both the positive and negative triploid fish were similar. They had a spindle-shaped,laterally compressed, steel grey body with two pairs of barbells. Most of the quantifiable traits of the triploid carp were intermediate between those of the two parents. The positive and negative triploid fish were raised in the same pond for 2 years. The mean body weight of the positive triploid fish was 2.3 times higher than the negative triploid fish. The weight of the largest positive triploid fish was 2.91 times higher than that of the largest negative triploid fish. Thus,we produced fast-growing transgenic triploid carp that have a reduced ecological risk because of their inability to mate and produce progeny. | YU Fan XIAO Jun LIANG XiangYang LIU ShaoJun ZHOU GongJian LUO KaiKun LIU Yun HU Wei WANG YaPing ZHU ZuoYan | 2011 | Chinese Science Bulletin2011,56,16: | 11

Starch/polyvinyl alcohol blended materials used as solid carbon source for tertiary denitrification of secondary efuent显示文摘Starch/polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) blended materials for using as a solid carbon source(SCS) were prepared by blending PVA and gelatinized starch in an aqueous solution system, in which PVA served as framework material and starch as carbon source. The optimization of starch content and temperature efects were investigated. It was indicated that higher denitrification efciency could be achieved with more starch in the materials. The average specific denitrification rates were 0.93, 0.66, 0.37 and 0.36 mg/(g·day)corresponding to starch content of 70%, 60%, 40% and 30% respectively at 37°C. The denitrification rates increased when operating temperature was raised from 23°C to 30°C and then 37°C. The mechanism of carbon release was analyzed incorporating the experimental results of abiotic release in deionized water. The organic carbon was mainly hydrolyzed by microbes, and the biological release efciencies were at the range of 89.2% to 96.0%. A long-term experiment with a continuous flow reactor with SCS material containing 70% starch was conducted to gain some experience for practical application. When the influent nitrate concentration was in the range of 35.2 to 39.1 mg/L, hydraulic retention time of 4 hr, and operating temperature of 30°C, a nitrogen removal efciency up to94.6% and denitrification rate of 0.217 kg/(m3·day) was achieved. The starch-based materials developed in this study can be used as a solid carbon source for tertiary nitrogen removal from secondary efuent. | Peng Li Jiane Zuo Wei Xing Lei Tang Xiangyang Ye Zaixing Li Lin Yuan Kaijun Wang Hongtao Zhang | 2013 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2013,25,10: | 11

High-quality de novo assembly of the Eucommia ulmoides haploid genome provides new insights into evolution and rubber biosynthesis显示文摘We report the acquisition of a high-quality haploid chromosome-scale genome assembly for the first time in a tree species,Eucommia ulmoides, which is known for its rubber biosynthesis and medicinal applications. The assembly was obtained by applying PacBio and Hi–C technologies to a haploid that we specifically generated.Compared to the initial genome release, this one has significantly improved assembly quality. The scaffold N50(53.15 MB)increased 28-fold,and the repetitive sequence content(520 Mb)increased by 158.24 Mb,whereas the number of gaps decreased from 104,772 to 128.A total of 92.87%of the 26,001 predicted protein-coding genes identified with multiple strategies were anchored to the 17 chromosomes.A new whole-genome duplication event was superimposed on the earlierγpaleohexaploidization event, and the expansion of long terminal repeats contributed greatly to the evolution of the genome. The more primitive rubber biosynthesis of this species,as opposed to that in Hevea brasiliensis, relies on the methylerythritol-phosphate pathway rather than the mevalonate pathway to synthesize isoprenyl diphosphate,as the MEP pathway operates predominantly in trans-polyisoprene-containing leaves and central peels.Chlorogenic acid biosynthesis pathway enzymes were preferentially expressed in leaves rather than in bark. This assembly with higher sequence contiguity can foster not only studies on genome structure and evolution, gene mapping, epigenetic analysis and functional genomics but also efforts to improve E.ulmoides for industrial and medical uses through genetic engineering. | Yun Li Hairong Wei Jun Yang Kang Du Jiang Li Ying Zhang Tong Qiu Zhao Liu Yongyu Ren Lianjun Song Xiangyang Kang | 2020 | Horticulture Research2020,7,1: | 7
Microbial community structures in an integrated two-phase anaerobic bioreactor fed by fruit vegetable wastes and wheat straw显示文摘The microbial community structures in an integrated two-phase anaerobic reactor(ITPAR)were investigated by 16S r DNA clone library technology. The 75 L reactor was designed with a 25 L rotating acidogenic unit at the top and a 50 L conventional upflow methanogenic unit at the bottom, with a recirculation connected to the two units. The reactor had been operated for 21 stages to co-digest fruit/vegetable wastes and wheat straw, which showed a very good biogas production and decomposition of cellulosic materials. The results showed that many kinds of cellulose and glycan decomposition bacteria related with Bacteroidales,Clostridiales and Syntrophobacterales were dominated in the reactor, with more bacteria community diversities in the acidogenic unit. The methanogens were mostly related with Methanosaeta,Methanosarcina,Methanoculleus,Methanospirillum and Methanobacterium;the predominating genus Methanosaeta, accounting for 40.5%,54.2%,73.6%and 78.7%in four samples from top to bottom, indicated a major methanogenesis pathway by acetoclastic methanogenesis in the methanogenic unit. The beta diversity indexes illustrated a more similar distribution of bacterial communities than that of methanogens between acidogenic unit and methanogenic unit. The differentiation of methanogenic community composition in two phases,as well as pH values and volatile fatty acid(VFA)concentrations confirmed the phase separation of the ITPAR.Overall, the results of this study demonstrated that the special designing of ITPAR maintained a sufficient number of methanogens, more diverse communities and stronger syntrophic associations among microorganisms, which made two phase anaerobic digestion of cellulosic materials more efficient. | Chong Wang Jiane Zuo Xiaojie Chen Wei Xing Linan Xing Peng Li Xiangyang Lu Chao Li | 2014 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2014,26,12: | 6

Development of a Low-cost Hardware-in-the-loop Simulation System as a Test Bench for Anti-lock Braking System显示文摘Nowadays validation of anti-lock braking systems(ABS) relies mainly on a large amount of road tests. An alternative means with higher efficiency is employing the hardware-in-the-loop simulation(HILS) system to substitute part of road tests for designing, testing, and tuning electronic control units(ECUs) of ABS.Most HILS systems for ABS use expensive digital signal processor hardware and special purpose software, and some fail-safe functions with regard to wheel speeds cannot be evaluated since artificial wheel speed signals are usually provided. In this paper,a low-cost ABS HILS test bench is developed and used for validating the anti-lock braking performance and tuning control parameters of ABS controllers.Another important merit of the proposed test bench is that it can comprehensively evaluate the fail-safe functions with regard to wheel speed signals since real tone rings and sensors are integrated in the bench.A 5-DOF vehicle model with consideration of longitudinal load transfer is used to calculate tire forces, wheel speeds and vehicle speed. Each of the four real-time wheel speed signal generators consists of a servo motor plus a ring gear, which has sufficient dynamic response ability to emulate the rapid changes of the wheel speeds under strict braking conditions of very slippery roads. The simulation of braking tests under different road adhesion coefficients using the HILS test bench is run,and results show that it can evaluate the anti-lock braking performance of ABS and partly the fail-safe functions. This HILS system can also be used in such applications as durability test, benchmarking and comparison between different ECUs.The test bench developed not only has a relatively low cost, but also can be used to validate the wheel speed-related ECU design and all its fail-safe functions, and a rapid testing and proving platform with a high efficiency for research and development of the automotive ABS is therefore provided. | ZHANG Wei DING Nenggen CHEN Moran YU Guizhen XU Xiangyang | 2011 | Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2011,24,1: | 5

S-Nitrosoglutathion Reductase Activity Modulates the Thermotolerance of Seeds Germination by Controlling ABI5 Stability under High Temperature显示文摘Seed germination or dormancy status is strictly controlled by endogenous phytohormone and exogenous environment signals.Abscisic acid(ABA)is the important phytohormone to suppress seed germination.Ambient high temperature(HT)also suppressed seed germination,or called as secondary seed dormancy, through upregulating ABI5,the essential component of ABA signal pathway.Previous result shows that appropriate nitric oxide(NO)breaks seed dormancy through triggering S-nitrosoglutathion reductase(GSNOR1)-dependent S-nitrosylation modification of ABI5 protein, subsequently inducing the degradation of ABI5.Here we found that HT induced the degradation of GSNOR1 protein and reduced its activity, thus accumulated more reactive nitrogen species(RNS)to damage seeds viability.Furthermore,HT increased the S-nitrosylation modification of GSNOR1 protein, and triggered the degradation of GSNOR1,therefore stabilizing ABI5 to suppress seed germination.Consistently, the ABI5 protein abundance was lower in the transgenic line overexpressing GSNOR1,but higher in the gsnor mutant after HT stress.Genetic analysis showed that GSNOR1 affected seeds germination through ABI5 under HT.Taken together, our data reveals a new mechanism by which HT triggers the degradation of GSNOR1,and thus stabilizing ABI5 to suppress seed germination, such mechanism provides the possibility to enhance seed germination tolerance to HT through genetic modification of GNSOR1. | Wenjie Wei Yulan Hu Wenjuan Yang Xiaoli Li Jiali Wei Xiangyang Hu Ping Li | 2021 | Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2021,90,4: | 4
Codebook Design and Beam Training for Extremely Large-Scale RIS:Far-Field or Near-Field?显示文摘Reconfigurable intelligent surface(RIS)is more likely to develop into extremely large-scale RIS(XL-RIS)to efficiently boost the system capacity for future 6 G communications.Beam training is an effective way to acquire channel state information(CSI)for XL-RIS.Existing beam training schemes rely on the far-field codebook. However, due to the large aperture of XL-RIS,the scatters are more likely to be in the near-field region of XL-RIS.The far-field codebook mismatches the near-field channel model. Thus, the existing far-field beam training scheme will cause severe performance loss in the XL-RIS assisted nearfield communications. To solve this problem,we propose the efficient near-field beam training schemes by designing the near-field codebook to match the nearfield channel model.Specifically,we firstly design the near-field codebook by considering the near-field cascaded array steering vector of XL-RIS.Then,the optimal codeword for XL-RIS is obtained by the exhausted training procedure. To reduce the beam training overhead,we further design a hierarchical nearfield codebook and propose the corresponding hierarchical near-field beam training scheme, where different levels of sub-codebooks are searched in turn with reduced codebook size.Simulation results show the proposed near-field beam training schemes outperform the existing far-field beam training scheme. | Xiuhong Wei Linglong Dai Yajun Zhao Guanghui Yu Xiangyang Duan | 2022 | China Communications2022,19,6: | 3
Performance Evaluation with Improved Receiver Design for Asynchronous Coordinated Multipoint Transmissions显示文摘Joint transmission is one of the ma jor transmission schemes in Coordinated multipoint(Co MP)transmission/reception systems for Long term evolutionadvanced(LTE-A). Due to different distances between User equipments(UE) and Base stations(BS), signals are not able to arrive at the receiver with perfect synchronization, which implies that the reception at UE is asynchronous. This paper presents an evaluation on asynchronous UE reception in multi-cell downlink joint transmission systems using our LTE-based Co MP simulator. Then, due to asynchronous reception, we propose an improved reception strategy to mitigate the interference which compensate for Rx timing difference on Joint transmission(JT) Co MP systems. Simulation results show that the per-subband global precoding scheme widely used in the Co MP system is considerably sensitive to asynchronous reception since the performance is dominated by the subcarrier used for precoding vector calculation. It is verified that our proposed solution is able to achieve significant improvements under asynchronous reception. | CAO Yuan WEN Yinghong MENG Xiangyang XU Wei | 2016 | Chinese Journal of Electronics2016,25,2: | 3
The application of three-dimensional seismic spectral decomposition and semblance attribute to characterizing the deepwater channel depositional elements in the Taranaki Basin of New Zealand显示文摘In the past few years, three-dimensional(3-D) seismogram has become an essential tool for the interpretation of subsurface stratigraphy and depositional systems. Seismic stratigraphy in conjunction with seismic geomorphology has elevated the degree to which seismic data can facilitate geological interpretation, especially in a deepwater environment. Technologies such as time slicing and interval attribute analysis can enhance geomorphological interpretations, and, when integrated with stratigraphic analyses, can yield insights regarding distribution of seal and reservoir facies. Multiple attributes corendering can further bring out features of geological interest that other technologies may overlook. This method involves corender spectral decomposition components(SDC) with semblance attributes to describe the distribution of deepwater channel elements and the boundaries of deepwater sinuous channel. Applying this technology to four elements is observed:(1) point-bars,(2) migration of channel meander loops,(3) channel erosion/cut, and(4) avulsion. The planview expression of the deepwater channel ranges from low sinuosity to high sinuosity. Furthermore, this technology has enabled interpreters to visualize details of complex depositional elements and can be used to predict net-to-gross ratio in channel systems, which can be incorporated into borehole planning for exploration as well as development needs to improve risk management significantly. The technology is applied to the study area in an effort to illustrate the variety of interpretation technologies available to the geoscientist. | LI Quan WU Wei YU Shui KANG Hongquan TONG Liqing CAO Xiangyang LIU Xiaolong | 2017 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2017,36,9: | 3

Sensitivity of supplementation of thyroid hormone on treatmentof idiopathic short-stature children during therapy withrecombinant human growth hormone显示文摘This study aimed to evaluate the effects of thyroid hormone supplementation on growth rate of childrenwith idiopathic short stature (ISS) and low-normal serum free thyroxine FT4 who were receiving growth hormonetherapy. We selected 64 prepubertal children with FT4 levels in the lowest third of the normal range as the lowerFT4 group, and these children were divided randomly into two subgroups: L-thyroxine (L-T4)-treated subgroupwas treated with L-T4 (0.5-3.0 g/(kg, d)) from the beginning of the study, and the non-L-T4-treated subgroupreceived placebo. We also selected 39 ISS children with FT4 in the upper two-thirds of the normal range as thehigher FT4 group. During the first year, the lower FT4 group featured lower FT3, FT4, thyroid stimulatinghormone (TSH), and insulin-like growth factor-I standard deviation score (IGF-I SDS) and significantly lowerheight velocity (HV) compared with the higher FT4 group. However, in the lower FT4 group, the L-T4-treatedsubgroup presented higher FT4, FT3, TSH, and IGF-I SDS concentrations and significantly higher HV comparedwith children in the non-L-T4-treated subgroup. In children with ISS, the negative effect of thyroid hormonedeficiency on growth rate should be considered when FT4 level lies in the low-normal range prior to recombinant human growth hormone treatment. | Wei Wang Shuqin Jiang Zhirui Cui Xiangyang Luo Lingli Shi Heli Zheng | 2018 | Frontiers of Medicine2018,12,5: | 2
