| 1 | Characteristics of authigenic pyrites in shallow core sediments in the Shenhu area of the northern South China Sea: Implications for a possible mud volcano environment显示文摘Distinct pyrites have been recovered from a shallow sediment core from Site 4B in the Shenhu area of the northern South China Sea. Based on the lithology, texture and structure of sediments, the stable sulfur isotope of pyrite and the total organic carbon (TOC) concentration of the sediments, a distinctive sediment interface is identified at a depth of about 1 m below the seafloor in the core sediments. The pyrites only accumulate in the lower part of the core as rods and foraminifera-infillings, and mainly within three intervals marked by high pyrite concentrations. The amount of pyrite in the sediments shows no remarkable correlation with TOC in the Site 4B core sediments. The stable sulfur isotopes of the pyrite have extremely negative values ranging from 41.69‰ to 49.16‰. They are considered to be the mutual product of sulfate bacterial reduction and sulfur bacterial disproportionation. Our research proposes that Site 4B might be located in or near a possible mud volcano sedimentary environment; a large amount of methane could migrate from deep to shallow sediments in an active mud volcano and thereby play a key role in the intensity of sulfate bacterial reduction and the amount of pyrite formed at Site 4B. | 3 | Process optimization of neodymium chloride solutions precipitated by magnesium bicarbonate显示文摘Rare earths(REs) are of vital importance for the development of new materials and green energy.Magnesium bicarbonate is one of the most recyclable and environmental-friendly precipitant for REs recovery from leaching solutions. Nd_2(CO_3)_3 has difficulties in industrial production. So in this study,the precipitation of neodymium from chloride solution by magnesium bicarbonate are investigated. The effects of feeding method, [HCO_3^-]/[Nd^(3+)] mole ratio, feeding speed and reaction temperature on yield and impurity(magnesia) content are systematically studied. Results show that the impurity(magnesia)content decreases to 0.010 wt% with a yield approaching to 100% obtained under the conditions of[HCO_3^-]/[Nd^(3+)] = 3.00 by parallel flow addition at 50 ℃. The major impurity(magnesia) in rare earth carbonates mainly presents in the form of physical absorption, which can be easily removed by scrubbing. | 4 | 1,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D3 protects obese rats from metabolic syndrome via promoting regulatory T cell-mediated resolution of inflammation显示文摘Vitamin D_3 has been found to produce therapeutic effects on obesity-associated insulin resistance and dyslipidemia through its potent anti-inflammatory activity, but the precise immunomodulatory mechanism remains poorly understood. In the present study we found that 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D_3[1,25(OH)_2D_3], the biologically active form of vitamin D_3, significantly attenuated monosodium glutamate(MSG)-induced obesity and insulin resistance as indicated by body weight reduction, oral glucose tolerance improvement, and a glucose infusion rate increase as detected with hyperinsulinemiceuglycemic clamp. Moreover, 1,25(OH)_2D_3 not only restored pancreatic islet functions but also improved lipid metabolism in insulin-targeted tissues. The protective effects of 1,25(OH)_2D_3 on glycolipid metabolism were attributed to its ability to inhibit an obesity-activated inflammatory response in insulin secretory and targeted tissues, as indicated by reduced infiltration of macrophages in pancreas islets and adipose tissue while enhancing the expression of Tgf-β1 in liver tissue, which was accompanied byincreased infiltration of Treg cells in immune organs such as spleen and lymph node as well as in insulintargeted tissues such as liver, adipose, and muscle. | 6 | Decomposition behavior of CaSO_4 during potassium extraction from a potash feldspar-CaSO_4 binary system by calcination显示文摘The extraction of potassium from a tablet mixture of K-feldspar ore and CaSO_4by roasting was studied with a focus on the effects of the decomposition behavior of CaSO_4on the potassium extraction process.The roasted slags were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy,and thermogravimetric(TG)analysis.The XRD analysis revealed that hydrosoluble mischcrystal K_2Ca_2(SO_4)_3was obtained by ion exchange of Ca^(2+)in CaSO_4and K^+in KAlSi_3O_8.Meanwhile,the intermediate product,SiO_2,separated from KAl Si_3O_8and reacted with CaSO_4to decompose CaSO_4.The SEM results showed that some blowholes emerged on the surface of the CaSO_4particles when they reacted with SiO_2at 1200°C,which indicates that SO_2and O_2gases were released from CaSO_4.The TG curves displayed that pure CaSO_4could not be decomposed below 1200°C,while the mixture of K-feldspar ore and CaSO_4began to lose weight at 1000°C.The extraction rate of potassium and decomposition rate of CaSO_4were 62%and 44%,respectively,at a mass ratio of CaSO_4to K-feldspar ore of 3:1,temperature of 1200°C,tablet-forming pressure of6 MPa,and roasting time of 2 h.The decomposition of CaSO_4reduced the potassium extraction rate;therefore,the required amount of CaSO_4was more than the theoretical amount.However,excess CaSO_4was also undesirable for the potassium extraction reaction because a massive amount of SO_2and O_2gas were derived from the decomposition of CaSO_4,which provided poor contact between the reactants.The SO_2released from CaSO_4decomposition can be effectively recycled. | Li Lü Chun Li Guoquan Zhang Xiaowei Hu Bin Liang | 2018 | Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2018,26,4: | 7 |

| 8 | Global analysis of CCT family knockout mutants identifies four genes involved in regulating heading date in rice显示文摘Many genes encoding CCT domain-containing proteins regulate flowering time. In rice(Oryza sativa), 41 such genes have been identified, but only a few have been shown to regulate heading date. Here, to test whether and how additional CCT family genes regulate heading date in rice, we classified these genes into five groups based on their diurnal expression patterns. The expression patterns of genes in the same subfamily or in close phylogenetic clades tended to be similar. We generated knockout mutants of the entire gene family via CRISPR/Cas9. The heading dates of knockout mutants of only 4 of 14 genes previously shown to regulate heading date were altered, pointing to functional redundancy of CCT family genes in regulating this trait. Analysis of mutants of four other genes showed that OsCCT22, OsCCT38, and OsCCT41 suppress heading under long-day conditions and promote heading under short-day conditions. OsCCT03 promotes heading under both conditions and upregulates the expression of Hd1 and Ehd1, a phenomenon not previously reported for other such genes. | 9 | Post-Orogenic Tectonic Evolution of the Jiangnan-Xuefeng Orogenic Belt:Insights from Multiple Geochronometric Dating of the Mufushan Massif,South China显示文摘The Mufushan massif, as continental intra-plate magmatites located in the Jiangnan-Xuefeng orogenic belt of the South China. The Mufushan massif constitutes the largest Mesozoic intrusive complex, intruded the Mesoproterozoic Lengjiaxi Formation. Multiple geochronometric dating was used to reconstruct their evolution from emplacement to exhumation. The Mufushan granitoids were emplaced at ~150 Ma(U-Pb zircon) as post-orogenic magmatites contributing to Triassic crustal thickening. Onset of regional extension at ~128 Ma(40Ar/39Ar white mica and biotite) manifests a tectonic regime switch. Intense exhumation prior to ~55 Ma was followed by slow denudation and peneplanation for the next 37 Ma(~55–18 Ma). Accelerated cooling since ~18 Ma may have been caused by a far-field effect of the collision between IndiaAsia Plate or the Pacific-Plate subduction. | 10 | Extraction kinetics of neodymium from chloride medium using HEH/EHP saponified with magnesium bicarbonate solution显示文摘Magnesium bicarbonate solution is considered as an environmentally friendly extractant saponification agent for the solvent extraction of rare earth elements due to its advantage of minimum water pollution.In order to reveal the extraction regularity, optimize production-process and guide the use of this new extraction system, the extraction of Nd(Ⅲ) in chloride medium with HEH/EHP saponified by magnesium bicarbonate solution was investigated with the self-designed constant interfacial area cell. Besides, the effects of stirring rate, temperature, specific interfacial area and concentration of Mg-HEH/EHP on the extraction rate of Nd(Ⅲ) were systematically investigated. Results show that, the rate of extraction is governed by both diffusion and chemical reaction, and the extraction reaction takes place at the interface. The apparent activation energy of the extraction reaction is 16.88 kJ/mol. The corresponding rate equation is deduced. | 11 | Recovery of rare earths and aluminum from FCC waste slag by acid leaching and selective precipitation显示文摘This paper investigated the recovery of rare earth elements(REEs) and aluminum(AI) from the waste slag discharged by FCC catalyst factory(FCC waste slag) via acid leaching and selective precipitation.Analysis methods such as ICP-AES, XRF and XRD were applied to obtain experiment data. The maximum leaching efficiency of REEs and Al was achieved at pH value of 1 and with liquid to solid ratio of 4:1,Under such conditions, 91.01%, 92.24% and 94.77% of La, Ce and Al were extracted at 20 ℃ for 2 h from the FCC waste slag, respectively. The SiO_2 content in the leaching residue was 88.3%, which can be used as an available silicon resource. The REEs can be precipitated in the form of REEs and sodium double sulfate(NaRE(SO_4)_2·xH_2 O) by adding Na_2 SO_4 to the leaching solution, while Al remained in the solution. Afterwards, the pH value of the filtrate was adjusted to 4.5, and Al was precipitated as AI(OH)_3. Finally,NaRE(SO_4)_2·xH_2 O and Al(OH)_3 were converted into RECl_3 and Al_2(SO4)_3 solution,respectively, which were recycled to manufacture zeolite. Unfortunately, further performance improvement is severely impeded by the retarded kinetics, which requires the fine regulation of water dissociation, hydrogen recombination, and hydroxyl desorption. Herein, we develop a multi-interface engineering strategy to make an elaborate balance for the alkaline hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) kinetics. The graphene cross-linked three-phase nickel sulfide (NiS-NiS_(2)-Ni_(3)S_(4)) polymorph foam (G-NNNF) was constructed through hydrothermal sulfidation of graphene wrapped nickel foam as a three-dimensional (3D) scaffold template. The G-NNNF exhibits superior catalytic activity toward HER in alkaline electrolyte, which only requires an overpotential of 68 mV to drive 10 mA·cm^(−2) and is better than most of the recently reported metal sulfides catalysts. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations verify the interfaces between nickel sulfides (NiS/NiS_(2)-Ni_(3)S_(4)) and cross-linked graphene can endow the electrocatalyst with preferable hydrogen adsorption as well as metallic nature. In addition, the electron transfer from Ni_(3)S_(4)/NiS_(2) to NiS results in the electron accumulation on NiS and the hole accumulation on Ni_(3)S_(4)/NiS_(2), respectively. The electron accumulation on NiS favors the optimization of the H* adsorption, whereas the hole accumulation on Ni_(3)S_(4) is beneficial for the adsorption of H_(2)O. | 20 | Designing of multifunctional and flame retardant separator towards safer high-performance lithium-sulfur batteries显示文摘Owing to unprecedented merits such as high theoretical capacity,superior energy density and low cost,lithium-sulfur batteries(LSBs)show a bright future both in scientific and industrial areas.Whereas,the inherent issues,including highly insulating character,undesired shuttle behavior and lithium dendrites growth,are seriously impeding its practical usage.Here,a metal-organic-frameworks(MOFs)derived N,S co-doped carbon nanotube hollow architecture confining with CoS_(2) nanoparticles(CoS_(2)/NSCNHF)modified separator is designed to surmount these obstacles.Compared with Celgard separator,this designed separator shows obviously enhanced flame retardancy,giving 73.1%and 53.0%reductions in peak heat release rate and total heat release,separately.Concretely,its hollow structure,conductive feature,electrocatalytic activity and Lewis acid-base interaction enable the efficient inhibition on shuttle behavior as well as boost in polysulfides conversion kinetics.The cell with modified separator delivers a high discharge capacity of 1,284.5 mAh·g^(−1).After running for 100 cycles,a discharge capacity of 661.3 mAh·g^(−1) is remained.Markedly,the suppression on lithium dendrites growth is also observed,manifesting the enhanced battery safety.Overall,this work may shed light on the effective usage of MOFs-derived hierarchical composite in achieving LSBs with high electrochemical performance as well as safety. | Junling Wang Wei Cai Xiaowei Mu Longfei Han Na Wu Can Liao Yongchun Kan Yuan Hu | 2021 | Nano Research2021,14,12: | 3 |
