| 1 | Potential role of strike-slip faults in opening up the South China Sea显示文摘Radiometric dates of key rock units indicate that a remnant Late Mesozoic ocean of the Huatung Basin is still preserved today east of the South China Sea(SCS).We integrate regional geology with a Cretaceous oceanic basement in the vicinity of the Huatung Basin to reconstruct the Huatung Plate east of the Eurasian continent.Results of geophysical investigations,four expeditions of deep-sea drilling and a renaissance of regional geology allow us to propose a hypothesis that the mechanism responsible for the SCS opening was raised from strike-slip fault on the east.The hypothesis suggests that the SCS opening could highly relate to the strike-slip faults inherited from Late Mesozoic structures onshore–offshore the SE Cathaysia Block to develop rhombic-shaped extensional basins en echelon on the thinned Eurasian continental crust in the Early Cenozoic.It was followed by sinistral strike-slip movements along the boundary between the Eurasian Plate and the Huatung Plate driven by oblique subduction of the Huatung Plate to the northwest coupled with slab-pull force by southward subduction of the Proto-SCS to open up the triangle-shaped oceanic East Sub-basin in the Early Oligocene(33/34 Ma).The spreading ridge then propagated southwestward in the step-over segment between the Zhongnan-Lile and the Red River strike-slip fault systems to open the triangle-shaped oceanic Southwest Sub-basin by 23 Ma.The plate boundary fault was subsequently converted into the Manila Trench when the Eocene Sierra Madre arc of the Huatung Plate had moved from the south to its present latitude by the Middle Miocene. | Chi-Yue Huang Pinxian Wang Mengming Yu Chen-Feng You Char-Shine Liu Xixi Zhao Lei Shao Guangfa Zhong Graciano P.Yumul Jr | 2019 | National Science Review2019,6,5: | 16 |
| 2 | SCM-198 protects endometrial stromal cells from oxidative damage through Bax/Bcl-2 and ERK signaling pathways显示文摘In creasi ng amounts of evidence dem on strated that accumulative reactive oxyge n species (ROS) and apoptosis of human endometrial stromal cells (ESCs) are closely associated with endometrial dysfunction induced by oxidative stress, which plays an important role in the pathological process of multiple gyn ecological and reproduction-related diseases. SCM-198, an alkaloid active component of Leonurus japonicas Houtt, has been reported to have anti-oxidative activity. However, the specific mechanisms of SCM-198 in the prevention of endometrial damage remain unknown. In the present study, we assessed the effect of SCM-198 on hydrogen peroxide (H2O2Hnduced oxidative injury in ESCs. ESCs were pretreated with SCM-198 for 4 h and then challenged with H2O2.Morphology ch a nges, apoptosis rate, and intracellular ROS producti on were measured to assess the level of oxidative injury. Flow cytometry and western blot analysis were performed to detect the expression levels of Bax, Bcl-2, active-caspase-3, and mitogen-activated protein kinases pathways. Classic inflammation cytokines were measured by real-time polymerase chain reactions. Our results showed that SCM-198 attenuated apoptosis and ROS generation of ESCs induced by H2O2. H2O2 induced the apparent apoptotic characteristics, including fragmentation of DNA, upregulation of Bax/Bcl2, activation of caspase-3, and secretion of inflammation cytokines, which were all ameliorated by SCM-198. Furthermore, H2O2-induced apoptosis-related ERK1/2 pathway activation was restrained by SCM-198 pretreatme nt. | 3 | New-type urbanization in China: Predicted trends and investment demand for 2015-2030显示文摘The future development of new-type urbanization has drawn great attention from both the government and public alike. In this context, the present study had three related research aims. Firstly, it sought to predict the urbanization and population dynamics in China at both national and provincial levels for the period of 2015 to 2030. Secondly, on this basis, it sought to examine the spatial variation of urbanization given the predicted national urbanization rate of 70.12%. Thirdly, it sought to estimate and evaluate the national and provincial demands of investment in the development of new-type urbanization. The main conclusions from this study were as follows:(1) The population size and urbanization rate will reach 1.445 billion and 70.12%, respectively, from 2015 to 2030.(2) The demographic dividend will vanish when the population pressure reaches its maximum. During this period, there will be 70.16 million urban population born. The suburban population that becomes urbanized will be 316.7 million, and thus the net increase in urban population will reach 386 million.(3) Although the urbanization rate of every Chinese province will increase during 2015–2030, it will do so unequally, while differences in urbanization quality among provinces will also be substantial. In some provinces, moreover, the urbanization quality is not compatible with their eco-social development.(4) A total of 4,105,380 billion yuan is required to fund new-type urbanization and the investment demand for each province varies greatly; for example, Guangdong province requires the most funding, amounting to approximately 148 times that required by Tibet, the province in least need of funding. | 4 | High-quality Arabidopsis thaliana Genome Assembly with Nanopore and HiFi Long Reads显示文摘Arabidopsis thaliana is an important and long-established model species for plant molecular biology,genetics,epigenetics,and genomics.However,the latest version of reference genome still contains a significant number of missing segments.Here,we reported a high-quality and almost complete Col-0 genome assembly with two gaps(named Col-XJTU)by combining the Oxford Nanopore Technologies ultra-long reads,Pacific Biosciences high-fidelity long reads,and Hi-C data.The total genome assembly size is 133,725,193 bp,introducing 14.6 Mb of novel sequences compared to the TAIR10.1 reference genome.All five chromosomes of the Col-XJTU assembly are highly accurate with consensus quality(QV)scores>60(ranging from 62 to 68),which are higher than those of the TAIR10.1 reference(ranging from 45 to 52).We completely resolved chromosome(Chr)3 and Chr5 in a telomere-to-telomere manner.Chr4 was completely resolved except the nucleolar organizing regions,which comprise long repetitive DNA fragments.The Chrl centromere(CEN1),reportedly around 9 Mb in length,is particularly challenging to assemble due to the presence of tens of thousands of CEN180 satellite repeats.Using the cutting-edge sequencing data and novel computational approaches,we assembled a 3.8-Mb-long CEN1 and a 3.5-Mb-long CEN2.We also investigated the structure and epigenetics of centromeres.Four clusters of CEN180 monomers were detected,and the centromere-specific histone H3-like protein(CENH3)exhibited a strong preference for CEN180 Cluster 3.Moreover,we observed hypomethylation patterns in CENH3-enriched regions.We believe that this high-quality genome assembly,Col-XJTU,would serve as a valuable reference to better understand the global pattern of centromeric polymorphisms,as well as the genetic and epigenetic features in plants. | Bo Wang Xiaofei Yang Yanyan Jia Yu Xu Peng Jia Ningxin Dang Songbo Wang Tun Xu Xixi Zhao Shenghan Gao Quanbin Dong Kai Ye | 2022 | Genomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics2022,20,1: | 6 |

| 17 | Greenhouse gas emissions from Daihai Lake,China:Should eutrophication and salinity promote carbon emission dynamics?显示文摘Greenhouse gases(GHGs)emitted or absorbed by lakes are an important component of the global carbon cycle.However,few studies have focused on the GHG dynamics of eutrophic saline lakes,thus preventing a comprehensive understanding of the carbon cycle.Here,we conducted four sampling analyses using a floating chamber in Daihai Lake,a eutrophication saline lake in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region,China,to explore its carbon dioxide(CO_(2))and methane(CH_(4))emissions.The mean CO_(2)emission flux(FCO_(2))and CH_(4)emission flux(FCH_(4))were 17.54±14.54 mmol/m^(2)/day and 0.50±0.50 mmol/m^(2)/day,respectively.The results indicated that Daihai Lake was a source of CO_(2)and CH_(4),and GHG emissions exhibited temporal variability.The mean CO_(2)partial pressure(p CO_(2))and CH_(4)partial pressure(p CH_(4))were 561.35±109.59μatm and 17.02±13.45μatm,which were supersaturated relative to the atmosphere.The regression and correlation analysis showed that the main influencing factors of p CO_(2)were wind speed,dissolved oxygen(DO),total nitrogen(TN)and Chlorophyll a(Chl.a),whereas the main influencing factors of p CH_(4)were water temperature(WT),Chl.a,nitrate nitrogen(NO_(3)^(-)-N),TN,dissolved organic carbon(DOC)and water depth.Salinity regulated carbon mineralization and organic matter decomposition,and it was an important influencing factor of p CO_(2)and p CH_(4).Additionally,the trophic level index(TLI)significantly increased p CH_(4).Our study elucidated that salinity and eutrophication play an important role in the dynamic changes of GHG emissions.However,research on eutrophic saline lakes needs to be strengthened. | Xiangwei Li Ruihong Yu Jun Wang Heyang Sun Xinyu Liu Xiaohui Ren Shuai Zhuang Zhiwei Guo Xixi Lu | 2024 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2024,,1: | 0 |
| 18 | Screening of molecular markers of induced chemotherapy in supraglottic laryngeal squamouscell carcinoma显示文摘Objective:To investigate the expressions of MAPK10,c-Jun and Itga6 in laryngeal carcinoma and its influence on the sensitivity to docetaxel,cisplatin and 5-fluorouracil(TPF)chemotherapy.Methods:Fifty-seven patients with supraglottic squamous cell carcinoma,who were treated by two cycles of TPF induction chemotherapy in our hospital,were enrolled in this study and divided into groups by chemotherapy resistance or chemotherapy sensitivity.The expressions of mRNA and protein of MAPK10,c-Jun and Itga6 in tumor tissues were evaluated by immunohistochemistry.The consistency of mRNA and protein expressions was tested,and the relation with the clinicopathological features was analyzed.Results:The positive rates of MAPK10 andc-Jun in the tumor tissues of the sensitive group were significantly higher than those of there assistant group,which was 90.48%and 100.00%,respectively.The expression rate of Itga6 was significantly higher in the resistant group,which was 83.33%(P<0.05).The mRNA levels of MAPK10 and c-Jun were significantly lower in the resistant group than in the sensitive group,whilethemRNA levelof Itga6was significantly higher in the resistant group(P<0.05).The protein expressions of MAPK10,c-Jun and Itga6 were consistent with their mRNA expressions(P<0.05).The expressions of MAPK10,c-Jun and Itga6 were not correlatedwithage,gender and tumor diameter(P>0.05).However,the expressions of MAPK10 and c-Jun were negatively correlated withclinical stage and pathological grading(P<0.05).Negative correlations between MAPK 10 and Itga6,and between c-Jun and Itga6in tumor tissues were found by Spearman’srank correlation coefficient(P<0.05).The correlation was also negative in the resistant tumor tissues(P<0.05).Conclusion:The MAPK10 and c-Jun expressions were down-regulated,while the Itga6 expression was up-regulated in the chemo-resistant laryngeal carcinoma,and the expression levels of different factors were correlated witheach other.These factorsmight be important biomarkers for predicting outcomes of TPF chemotherapy in laryngeal carcinoma in the future. | Guang Yang Jugao Fang Qiang Shi Ru Wang Meng Lian Hongzhi Ma Ling Feng Xixi Shen Yu Wang | 2020 | World Journal of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery2020,6,1: | 0 |
| 19 | Tough adhesion and antifouling poly(vinyl alcohol)hydrogel coating on the arch wire for antibacterial adhesion显示文摘The arch wire(AW)plays an important role in providing continuous force,aligning the teeth,and excellent dental arch stability for orthodontic treatment.However,the high friction performance of the AW surface can increase bacterial adhesion and colonization,leading to oral hygiene problems.Herein,a simple method is developed to modify the surface of the orthodontic wire with a poly(vinyl alcohol)(PVA)hydrogel coating,which can improve the lubricity and antibacterial adhesion of the AW and prevent the oral hygiene problems caused by itself.The PVA hydrogel coating can toughly adhere to the surface of the AW and remarkably reduce the friction performance of the AW,and then its friction coefficient in water can reach 0.005.Under the action of brushing and bending,the PVA hydrogel coating possesses superior ultralubrication and hardly affects the mechanical properties of the stainless-steel substrate.Moreover,the PVA hydrogel coating can significantly inhibit bacterial adhesion on the surface of the AW,thereby reducing bacterial colonization and maintaining oral hygiene while correcting the shape of the mouth and jaw.Therefore,the PVA hydrogel coating exhibits tough adhesion and good antibacterial adhesion while maintaining the mechanical properties of the AW,and it is a promising antifouling coating for improving the performance of the AW. | LI MingWen TANG Chen YU XiXi SHI XinLei YU Hui YIN HaiYan YOU Min CHEN Qiang DING Xi | 2023 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2023,66,10: | 0 |
