3Soil Erosion Changes over the Past Five Decades in the Red Soil Region of Southern China显示文摘This paper reports the dynamic changes of soil and water loss in the red soil region of Southern China since the 1950s. The red soil region covers eight provinces: Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Fujian, Anhui, Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong and Hainan. From the 1950s to 1986, the annual rate of soil erosion increased by 3.4%. From 1986 to 1996 and from 1996 to 2000, the annual rates of soil erosion decreased by 2.0% and 0.32%, respectively. Field surveys showed that from 2000 to 2005, the area of soil and water loss decreased annually by 1.2%. This decrease was a result of large-scale erosion control activities across China. Although the eroded soil has been restored, the restoration process is very slow and full restoration will take a long time. 5Single-cell transcriptome analysis of the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) associated gene ACE2 expression in normal and non-obstructive azoospermia (NOA) human male testes显示文摘Being infected by SARS-CoV-2 may cause damage to multiple organs in patients, such as the lung, liver and heart. Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2(ACE2), reported as a SARS-CoV-2 receptor, is also expressed in human male testes. This suggests a potential risk in human male reproductive system. However, the characteristics of ACE2-positive cells and the expression of other SARS-CoV-2 process-related genes are still worthy of further investigation. Here, we performed singlecell RNA seq(scRNA-seq) analysis on 853 male embryo primordial germ cells(PGCs) and 2,854 normal testis cells to assess the effects of the SARS-CoV-2 virus on the male reproductive system from embryonic stage to adulthood. We also collected and constructed the scRNA-seq library on 228 Sertoli cells from three non-obstructive azoospermia(NOA) patients to assess the effects at disease state. We found that ACE2 expressing cells existed in almost all testis cell types and Sertoli cells had highest expression level and positive cells ratio. Moreover, ACE2 was also expressed in human male PGCs. In adulthood, the level of ACE2 expression decreased with the increase of age. We also found that ACE2 positive cells had high expressions of stress response and immune activation-related genes. Interestingly, some potential SARS-CoV-2 process-related genes such as TMPRSS2, BSG, CTSL and CTSB had different expression patterns in the same cell type. Furthermore, ACE2 expression level in NOA donors’ Sertoli cells was significantly decreased. 6Xa7, a new executor R gene that confers durable and broad-spectrum resistance to bacterial blight disease in rice显示文摘Bacterial blight(BB)is a globally devastating rice disease caused by Xanthomonas oryzae pv.oryzae(Xoo).The use of disease resistance(R)genes in rice breeding is an effective and economical strategy for the control of this disease.Nevertheless,a majority of R genes lack durable resistance for long-term use under global warming conditions.Here,we report the isolation of a novel executor R gene,Xa7,that confers extremely durable,broad-spectrum,and heat-tolerant resistance to Xoo.The expression of Xa7 was induced by incompatible Xoo strains that secreted the transcription activator-like effector(TALE)AvrXa7 or PthXo3,which recognized effector binding elements(EBEs)in the Xa7 promoter.Furthermore,Xa7 induction was faster and stronger under high temperatures.Overexpression of Xa7 or co-transformation of Xa7 with avrXa7 triggered a hypersensitive response in plants.Constitutive expression of Xa7 activated a defense response in the absence of Xoo but inhibited the growth of transgenic rice plants.In addition,analysis of over 3000 rice varieties showed that the Xa7 locuswas found primarily in the indica and aus subgroups.A variation consisting of an 11-bp insertion and a base substitution(G to T)was found in EBEAvrXa7 in the tested varieties,resulting in a loss of Xa7 BB resistance.Through a decade of effort,we have identified an important BB resistance gene and characterized its distinctive interaction with Xoo strains;these findings will greatly facilitate research on the molecular mechanism of Xa7-mediated resistance and promote the use of this valuable gene in breeding.Xifeng Chen Pengcheng Liu Le Mei Xiaoling He Long Chen Hui Liu Shurong Shen Zhandong Ji Xixi Zheng Yuchen Zhang Zhenyu Gao Dali Zeng Qian Qian Bojun Ma 2021Plant Communications2021,2,3:9

12Secure Beamforming Design for SWIPT in Cooperative D2D Communications显示文摘In device-to-device(D2D) communications, device terminal relaying makes it possible for devices in a network to function as transmission relays for each other to enhance the spectral efficiency. In this paper we consider a cooperative D2D communication system with simultaneous wireless information and power transfer(SWIPT). The cooperative D2D communication scheme allows two nearby devices to communicate with each other in the licensed cellular bandwidth by assigning D2D transmitters as half-duplex(HD) relay to assists cellular downlink transmissions. In particular, we focus on secure information transmission for the cellular users when the idle D2D users are the potential eavesdroppers. We aim to design secure beamforming schemes to maximize the D2D users data rate while guaranteeing the secrecy rate requirements of the cellular users and the minimum required amounts of power transferred to the idle D2D users. To solve this non-convex problem, a semi-definite programming relaxation(SDR) approach is adopted to obtain the optimal solution. Furthermore, we propose two suboptimal secure beamforming schemes with low computational complexity for providing secure communication and efficient energy transfer. 13Subwavelength imaging and detection using adjustable and movable droplet microlenses显示文摘We developed adjustable and movable droplet microlenses consisting of a liquid with a high refractive index.The microlenses were prepared via ultrasonic shaking in deionized water,and the diameter of the microlenses ranged from 1 to 50μm.By stretching the microlenses,the focal length can be adjusted from 13 to 25μm.With the assistance of an optical tweezer,controllable assembly and movement of microlens arrays were also realized.The results showed that an imaging system combined with droplet microlenses could image 80 nm beads under white light illumination.Using the droplet microlenses,fluorescence emission at 550 nm from Cd Se@Zn S quantum dots was efficiently excited and collected.Moreover,Raman scattering signals from a silicon wafer were enhanced by^19 times.The presented droplet microlenses may offer new opportunities for flexible liquid devices in subwavelength imaging and detection.XIXI CHEN TIANLI WU ZHIYONG GONG YUCHAO LI YAO ZHANG BAOJUN LI 2020Photonics Research2020,8,3:5
14The OsNAC23-Tre6P-SnRK1 a feed-forward loop regulates sugar homeostasis and grain yield in rice显示文摘Tre6P(trehalose-6-phosphate)mediates sensing of carbon availability to maintain sugar homeostasis in plants,which underpins crop yield and resilience.However,how Tre6P responds to fluctuations in sugar levels and regulates the utilization of sugars for growth remains to be addressed.Here,we report that the sugar-inducible rice NAC transcription factor OsNAC23 directly represses the transcription of the Tre6P phosphatase gene TPP1 to simultaneously elevate Tre6P and repress trehalose levels,thus facilitating carbon partitioning from source to sink organs.Meanwhile,OsNAC23 and Tre6P suppress the transcription and enzyme activity of SnRK1a,a low-carbon sensor and antagonist of OsNAC23,to prevent the SnRK1a-mediated phosphorylation and degradation of OsNAC23.Thus,OsNAC23,Tre6P,and SnRK1a form a feed-forward loop to sense sugar and maintain sugar homeostasis by transporting sugars to sink organs.Importantly,plants over-expressing OsNAC23 exhibited an elevated photosynthetic rate,sugar transport,and sink organ size,which consistently increased rice yields by 13%–17%in three elite-variety backgrounds and two locations,suggesting that manipulation of OsNAC23 expression has great potential for rice improvement.Collectively,these findings enhance our understanding of Tre6P-mediated sugar signaling and homeostasis,and provide a new strategy for genetic improvement of rice and possibly also other crops.Zhiyong Li Xiangjin Wei Xiaohong Tong Juan Zhao Xixi Liu Huimei Wang Liqun Tang Yazhou Shu Guanghao Li Yifeng Wang Jiezheng Ying Guiai Jiao Honghong Hu Peisong Hu Jian Zhang 2022Molecular Plant2022,15,4:4
15Measurement of interfacial residual stress in SiC fiber reinforced Ni-Cr-Al alloy composites by Raman spectroscopy显示文摘Raman spectroscopy was used to measure Raman spectra of the inner SiC fibers and surface C-rich layers of SiC fibers, composite precursors and SiCf/Ni-Cr-Al composites. The residual stresses of the inner SiC fibers and surface C-rich layers were calculated, and the effect of the(Al + Al_2O_3) diffusion barrier layer on the interfacial residual stress in the composites was analyzed in combination with the interface microstructure and energy disperse spectroscopy(EDS) elements lining maps. The results show that the existence of(Al + Al_2O_3) diffusion barrier improves the compatibility of the SiCf/Ni-Cr-Al interface,inhibits the adverse interfacial reaction, and relieves the residual stress inside SiC fibers and at the interface of composite material. Heat treatment can reduce the residual stress at the interface. 16Analysis of a Convective Storm Crossing Poyang Lake in China显示文摘A convective storm crossing Poyang Lake(PL)in China during 1200-1600 UTC on 13 May 2015 is examined.The results show that this storm occurs ahead of a 500-hPa trough with weak low-level temperature advection and a convectively stable layer between 925 and 850 hPa,and the tail of the storm is enhanced when its spearhead sweeps over PL after the sunset.Due to the heating and moistening of PL,the convectively stable layer over PL is destabilized;and instead,a deep(below 700 hPa)convectively unstable layer is organized.Moreover,both the radiative cooling and the storm-induced cooling result in a rapid air(near-surface)and land temperature decrease in the surrounding areas.Thus,a large lake-land temperature difference(about 6℃)occurs,which is conducive to generating land-lake breeze and enhancing the convergence of the low-level wind.Finally,the PL-induced deep convectively unstable layer and the enhanced low-level convergence jointly strengthen the crossing storm.To further confirm this,two simulations(with or without PL)are conducted with the Weather Research and Forecast(WRF)model.The simulation with PL successfully reproduces the evolution of the storm crossing PL,while the simulation without PL fails.In the simulation with PL,a highμse tongue at 850 hPa associated with the storm moves eastward and downward,and merges with the PL-induced lake boundary layer,forming a deep convectively unstable layer under 700 hPa.However,in the simulation without PL,the stable layer constantly maintains under 900 hPa.In addition,the 900-hPa wind difference between the simulations with and without PL shows a land-lake breeze circulation that strengths the convergence of the low-level wind.Haibo ZOU Shuwen ZHANG Yanan LIU Weidong ZHANG Xixi YANG 2020Journal of Meteorological Research2020,34,3:3

18The impacts of ‘05.6’ extreme flood event on riverine carbon fluxes in Xijiang River显示文摘An extreme flood event with a frequency of nearly 200 year occurred in June of 2005 in the Xijiang River, the main trunk stream of the Zhujiang River. Samples were systematically collected during the flood event, and water quality parameters, including total suspended sediment (TSS), dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC), dissolved organic carbon (DOC), and particulate organic carbon (POC) were analyzed, and riverine carbon concentrations associated with its changing pattern through the flood process were discussed. These parameters reflect the changes in basin surface flow and subsurface flow dur-ing the flood. This flood event influenced annual flux estimations of POC, DOC, and DIC to great extents. Based on carbon flux estimations for the year 2005 and the flood event (June 21-28) in the Xijiang River, it was found that DIC, DOC, and POC fluxes during ‘05.6’ flood event are 1.52×106 g.km?2.a?1, 0.24×106 g.km?2.a?1, and 0.54×106 g.km?2.a?1, and account for 14.87%, 24.75% and 44.89% of the annual fluxes in 2005, respectively.
