1Particle number concentration, size distribution and chemical composition during haze and photochemical smog episodes in Shanghai显示文摘The aerosol number concentration and size distribution as well as size-resolved particle chemical composition were measured during haze and photochemical smog episodes in Shanghai in 2009.The number of haze days accounted for 43%,of which 30%was severe(visibility<2 km)and moderate(2 km≤visibility<3 km)haze,mainly distributed in winter and spring.The mean particle number concentration was about 17,000/cm3in haze,more than 2 times that in clean days.The greatest increase of particle number concentration was in 0.5–1μm and 1–10μm size fractions during haze events,about 17.78times and 8.78 times those of clean days.The largest increase of particle number concentration was within 50–100 nm and 100–200 nm fractions during photochemical smog episodes,about 5.89 times and 4.29 times those of clean days.The particle volume concentration and surface concentration in haze,photochemical smog and clean days were102,49,15μm3/cm3and 949,649,206μm2/cm3,respectively.As haze events got more severe,the number concentration of particles smaller than 50 nm decreased,but the particles of 50–200 nm and 0.5–1μm increased.The diurnal variation of particle number concentration showed a bimodal pattern in haze days.All soluble ions were increased during haze events,of which NH4+,SO42-and NO3-increased greatly,followed by Na+,K+,Ca2+and Cl-.These ions were very different in size-resolved particles during haze and photochemical smog episodes.Xuemei Wang Jianmin Chen Tiantao Cheng Renyi Zhang Xinming Wang 2014Journal of Environmental Sciences2014,26,9:17
2Effects of dietary supplementation with essential oils and protease on growth performance,antioxidation,inflammation and intestinal function of weaned pigs显示文摘This experiment evaluated the impacts of essential oils(EO)and protease(PRO),independently or in combination,on growth performance,antioxidation,inflammation and intestinal function of weaned pigs.One hundred and sixty weaned pigs(21 d of age,BW of 6.74±0.20 kg)were randomly divided into 4 treatments with 8 replicate pens of 5 pigs per pen.Dietary treatments included the following:1)control diet(CON),2)CON with 300 mg/kg essential oils(EO),3)CON with 500 mg/kg protease(PRO),4)CON with 300 mg/kg essential oil and 500 mg/kg protease(EO + PRO).On d 8,one pig from each penwas selected for sampling.The remaining pigs were fed for an additional week and growth performance was monitored during this period.Dietary treatments had no marked effects(P>0.05)on the growth performance of pigs.However,pigs receiving EO diet had higher(P<0.05)serumglutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px)activity,and tended to decrease(P=0.063)serum concentration of tumor necrosis factor-a(TNF-a).In addition,pigs receiving EO diet had higher(P<0.05)abundances of phylum Actinobacteria,and genera Bifidobacterium,and lower(P<0.05)phylum Bacteroidetes and genera Alloprevotella in colonic digesta.Pigs receiving PRO diet decreased(P<0.05)the serum concentration of malondialdehyde(MDA)and diamine oxidase activity,increased(P<0.05)the villus height and the ratio of villus height to crypt depth in duodenum,increased sucrase activity in jejunal mucosa,and also increased the abundance of phylum Actinobacteria in colonic digesta.Furthermore,the synergistic effects of EO and PROwas observed(P<0.05)for pigs with decreasing serum TNF-a concentration and increasing serum GSH-Px activity.Collectively,the results indicated that dietary supplementation of EO and PRO had no significant effects on growth performance of weaned pigs.EO diet appeared to improve antioxidant activity and intestinal microbiota,while PRO diet improved intestinal morphology and digestive enzyme activity,and there was a synergistic effect of EO and PRO on reducing inflammatory parameters in weaned pigs.Xie Peng Qiang Zhou Cheng Wu Jian Zhao Quan Tan Ying He Liang Hu Zhengfeng Fang Yan Lin Shengyu Xu Bin Feng Jian Li Yong Zhuo Chris Van Ginneken Xuemei Jiang De Wu Lianqiang Che 2022Animal Nutrition2022,,2:8
3The Glutamatergic Postrhinal Cortex–Ventrolateral Orbitofrontal Cortex Pathway Regulates Spatial Memory Retrieval显示文摘A deficit in spatial memory has been taken as an early predictor of Alzheimer’s disease(AD) or mild cognitive impairment(MCI). The uncinate fasciculus(UF) is a long-range white-matter tract that connects the anterior temporal lobe with the orbitofrontal cortex(OFC)in primates. Previous studies have shown that the UF impairment associated with spatial memory deficits may be an important pathological change in aging and AD, but its exact role in spatial memory is not well understood. The pathway arising from the postrhinal cortex(POR) and projecting to the ventrolateral orbitofrontal cortex(vlOFC)performs most of the functions of the UF in rodents.Although the literature suggests an association between spatial memory and the regions connected by the POR–vlOFC pathway, the function of the pathway in spatialmemory is relatively unknown. To further illuminate the function of the UF in spatial memory, we dissected the POR–vlOFC pathway in mice. We determined that the POR–vlOFC pathway is a glutamatergic structure, and that glutamatergic neurons in the POR regulate spatial memory retrieval. We also demonstrated that the POR–vlOFC pathway specifically transmits spatial information to participate in memory retrieval. 4Grain-size reduction of feldspar and flow of deformed granites within the Gaoligong shear zone, southwestern Yunnan, China显示文摘Mineral deformation and rock flow mechanism in the lithosphere are related to the rheological behavior and weakening mechanism of the continent. Natural deformation behaviors of feldspars are not well understood due to the complexity of their mineral compositions, crystal structures, as well as changing deformation conditions. The refined microstructure,fabric and composition of major minerals in the deformed granitic rocks within the Gaoligong shear zone(GLGSZ), southwestern Yunnan, China, were studied. With increasing mylonitization, two fabric types of end-members have been distinguished(type-I banded granitic mylonite and type-II banded ultramylonite). The two types of deformed granitic rocks have the same mineral assemblage, but different mineral modes. The type-I banded granitic mylonite has a greater proportion of K-feldspar(mostly present as porphyroclasts)>plagioclase>quartz±biotite, however, the type-II banded ultramylonite has a greater proportion of fine-grained plagioclase>K-feldspar>quartz±biotite. The crystallographic preferred orientation(CPO) patterns of quartz combined with two-feldspar geothermometer, confirm that the quartz grains in the type-I and type-II granitic rock have undergone high-temperature dislocation creep deformation. The K-feldspar grains in the matrix of type-II banded ultramylonite show a dominant(100)[010] slip system with dislocation creep recrystallization, while the fine-grained plagioclase grains present a weak CPO pattern with superplastic flow. The K-feldspar porphyroclasts show grain-size reduction associated with mineral composition and fabric transformation. The myrmekite formation with the fine-grained neocrystallization of plagioclase and quartz significally replaced the K-feldspar porphyroclasts. 5New guaiane-type sesquiterpenoid dimers from Artemisia atrovirens and their antihepatoma activity显示文摘Leading by cytotoxicity against HepG2 cells,bioactivity-guided fractionation of the EtOAc fraction from Artemisia atrovirens led to the isolation of 18 new guaianolide dimers,artematrolides A-R and lavandiolides A,B,C,H,and J.Eight compounds(1,4,10,12,13,and 19-21) were unambiguously confirmed by the single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses,and the others were elucidated based on IR,UV,HRESIMS,1 D and 2 D NMR experiments,and comparison of the experimental and calculated ECD data.Structurally,all of them were [4+2] Diels-Alder adducts of two monomeric guaianolides.The isolates were evaluated for their cytotoxicity against three human hepatoma cell lines,and 19 compounds demonstrated cytotoxicity against HepG2,SMMC-7721,and Huh7 cell lines.Especially,compounds 1,12,14,and 15 exhibited cytotoxicity with IC50 values of 4.4,3.8,7.6,and 6.7 μmol/L(HepG2),9.6,4.6,6.6,and 6.0 μmol/L(SMMC-7721),and 7.6,4.5,6.9,and 5.6 μmol/L(Huh7),respectively.Notably,compound 12 showed the most promising activity against three human hepatoma cell lines and dose-dependently inhibited cell migration and invasion,induced G2/M cell cycle arrest and cell apoptosis in HepG2 cells,down-regulated the expression of BCL-2 and PARP-1,and activated PARP-1 to up-regulate the expression of cleaved-PARP-1.Lihua Su Xintian Zhang Yunbao Ma Changan Geng Xiaoyan Huang Jing Hu Tianze Li Shuang Tang Cheng Shen Zhen Gao Xuemei Zhang Ji-Jun Chen 2021Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2021,11,6:6
6The Kangding earthquake swarm of November, 2014显示文摘There was an earthquake swarm of two major events of MS6.3 and MS5.8 on the Xianshuihe fault in November, 2014. The two major earthquakes are both strike-slip events with aftershock zone along NW direction.We have analyzed the characteristics of this earthquake sequence. The b value and the h value show the significant variations in different periods before and after the MS5.8earthquake. Based on the data of historical earthquakes, we also illustrated the moderate-strong seismic activity on the Xianshuihe fault. The Kangding earthquake swarm manifests the seismic activity on Xianshuihe fault may be in the late seismic active period. The occurrence of the Kangding earthquake may be an adjustment of the strong earthquakes on the Xianshuihe fault. The Coulomb failure stress changes caused by the historical earthquakes were also given in this article. The results indicate that the earthquake swarm was encouraged by the historical earthquakes since1893, especially by the MS7.5 Kangding earthquake in1955. 7Metamorphic, deformation, fluids and geological significance of low-temperature retrograde mylonites of Diancangshan metamorphic massif along Ailaoshan-Red River strike-slip fault zone, Yunnan, China显示文摘Diancangshan metamorphic massif is one of the four metamorphic massifs developed along the Ailaoshan-Red River strike-slip fault zone, Yunnan, China. It has experienced multi-stage metamorphism and deformation, especially since the late Oligocene it widely suffered high-temperature ductile shear deformation and exhumation of the metamorphic rocks from the deep crust to the shallow surface. Based on the previous research and geological field work, this paper presents a detailed study on deformation and metamorphism, and exhumation of deep metamorphic rocks within the Diancangshan metamorphic massif,especially focusing on the low-temperature overprinted retrogression metamorphism and deformation of mylonitic rocks. With the combinated experimental techniques of optical microscope, electron backscatter diffraction attachmented on field-emission scanning electron microscopy and cathodoluminescence, our contribution reports the microstructure, lattice preferred orientations of the deformed minerals, and the changes of mineral composition phases of the superposition low-temperature retrograde mylonites. All these results indicate that:(1) Diancangshan deep metamorphic rock has experienced early high-temperature leftlateral shear deformation and late extension with rapid exhumation, the low-temperature retrogression metamorphism and deformation overprinted the high-temperature metamorphism, and the high-temperature microstructure and texture are in part or entirely altered by subsequent low-temperature shearing;(2) the superposition of low-temperature deformation-metamorphism occurs at the ductile-brittle transition; and(3) the fluid is quite active during the syn-tectonic shearing overprinted lowtemperature deformation and metamorphism. The dynamic recrystallization and/or fractures to micro-fractures result in the strongly fine-grained of the main minerals, and present strain localization in micro-domians, such as micro-shear zones in the mylonites. 8Argininosuccinate synthase 1 suppresses cancer cell invasion by inhibiting STAT3 pathway in hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘Metastasis is the main reason for high recurrence and poor survival of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).The molecular mechanism underlying HCC metastasis remains unclear.In this study,we found that argininosuccinate synthase 1(ASS1)expression was significantly decreased and down-regulation of ASS1 was closely correlated with poor prognosis in HCC patients.DNA methylation led to the down-regulation of ASS1 in HCC.Stable silencing of ASS1 promoted migration and invasion of HCC cells,whereas overexpression of ASS1-inhibited metastasis of HCC cells in vivo and in vitro.We also revealed that ASS1-knockdown increased the phosphorylation level of S727STAT3,which contributed to HCC metastasis by up-regulation of inhibitor of differentiation 1(ID1).These findings indicate that ASS1 inhibits HCC metastasis and may serve as a target for HCC diagnosis and treatment.Xuemei Tao Qiaozhu Zuo Haoyu Ruan Hui Wang Haojie Jin Zhuoan Cheng Yuanyuan Lv Wenxin Qin Cun Wang 2019Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2019,51,3:4

10Structural view of the regulatory subunit of aspartate kinase from Mycobacterium tuberculosis显示文摘The aspartate kinase(AK)from Mycobacterium tuberculosis(Mtb)catalyzes the biosynthesis of aspartate family amino acids,including lysine,threonine,isoleucine and methionine.We determined the crystal structures of the regulatory subunit of aspartate kinase from Mtb alone(referred to as MtbAKβ)and in complex with threonine(referred to as MtbAKβ-Thr)at resolutions of 2.6A and 2.0Å,respectively.MtbAKβ is composed of two perpendicular non-equivalent ACT domains[aspartate kinase,chorismate mutase,and TyrA(prephenate dehydrogenase)]per monomer.Each ACT domain contains two α helices and four antiparallel β strands.The structure of MtbAKβ shares high similarity with the regulatory subunit of the aspartate kinase from Corynebacterium glutamicum(referred to as CgAKβ),suggesting similar regulatory mechanisms.Biochemical assays in our study showed that MtbAK is inhibited by threonine.Based on crystal structure analysis,we discuss the regulatory mechanism of MtbAK.Qingzhu Yang Kun Yu Liming Yan Yuanyuan Li Cheng Chen Xuemei Li 2011Protein & Cell2011,2,9:4
11A pH-sensitive supramolecular nanosystem with chlorin e6 and triptolide co-delivery for chemo-photodynamic combination therapy显示文摘The combination of Ce6,an acknowledged photosensitizer,and TPL,a natural anticancer agent,has been demonstrated as a useful strategy to reinforce the tumor growth suppression,as well as decrease the systemic side effects compared with their monotherapy.However,in view of the optimal chemo-photodynamic combination efficiency,there is still short of the feasible nanovehicle to steadily co-deliver Ce6 and TPL,and stimuli-responsively burst release drugs in tumor site.Herein,we described the synergistic antitumor performance of a pH-sensitive supramolecular nanosystem,mediated by the host–guest complexing betweenβ-CD and acid pH-responsive amphiphilic co-polymer mPEG-PBAE-mPEG,showing the shell–core structural micelles with the tightβ-CD layer coating.Both Ce6 and TPLwere facilely co-loaded into the spherical supramolecular NPs(TPL+Ce6/NPs)by one-step nanoprecipitation method,with an ideal particle size(156.0 nm),acid pH-responsive drug release profile,and enhanced cellular internalization capacity.In view of the combination benefit of photodynamic therapy and chemotherapy,as well as co-encapsulation in the fabricated pH-sensitive supramolecular NPs,TPL+Ce6/NPs exhibited significant efficacy to suppress cellular proliferation,boost ROS level,lower MMP,and promote cellular apoptosis in vitro.Particularly,fluorescence imaging revealed that TPL+Ce6/NPs preferentially accumulated in the tumor tissue area,with higher intensity than that of free Ce6.As expected,upon 650-nm laser irradiation,TPL+Ce6/NPs exhibited a cascade of amplified synergistic chemo-photodynamic therapeutic benefits to suppress tumor progression in both hepatoma H22 tumor-bearingmice and B16 tumor-bearingmice.More importantly,lower systemic toxicitywas found in the tumor-bearingmice treated with TPL+Ce6/NPs.Overall,the designed supramolecular TPL+Ce6/NPs provided a promising alternative approach for chemo-photodynamic therapy in tumor treatment.Yihan Wu Jingjing Li Xuemei Zhong Jinfeng Shi Yanfen Cheng Chenglin He Jiaxin Li Liang Zou Chaomei Fu Meiwan Chen Jinming Zhang Huile Gao 2022Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences2022,17,2:4
12Genetic Diversity Analysis of Wild Tea Plants in Yunnan Province Using EST-SSR Markers显示文摘In this study,27 pairs of EST-SSR primers were employed to analyze the genetic diversity and genetic relationship of 100 wild tea plant germplasm resources and 22 cultivars. according to the results,a total of 88 polymorphic bands were amplified with 27 pairs of primers; the variation of effective alleles accounted for 69. 01%; a total of 183 genotypes were detected,with a variation range of 4- 11; averagely 6. 78 genotypes were amplified with each primer pair; Shannon index( I) of 27 primer pairs ranged from 0. 32 to 1. 35,with an average of 0. 88; the observed heterozygosity(0. 52) was basically consistent with the expected heterozygosity(0. 52); the average polymorphism heterozygosity was 0. 48,which was very close to 0. 50; the average Nei's index was 0. 51,which was higher than0. 50; the average polymorphism information content( PIC) was 0. 52,which was higher than 0. 50,indicating high genetic diversity among wild tea germplasm resources in Yunnan Province. According to the clustering results,based on geographical origins and genetic backgrounds,122 materials were clustered into 14 categories. Dendrogram based on Nei's genetic distance revealed complex genetic relationships among wild tea germplasm resources in Yunnan Province. 13Enhancing sensing capacity of terahertz metamaterial absorbers with a surface-relief design显示文摘Metamaterial absorbers(MAs)serve as important electromagnetic wave-absorbing devices that have captured the attention of researchers for a long term.Functioning as sensitive detectors to determine perturbations in an ambient environment is another significant subsidiary function.Here,we theoretically propose an optimized fabrication method to implement terahertz MAs with fewer steps and also evaluate both absorption and sensing performances of such MAs realized by the new method.Simulation findings demonstrate that such MAs can basically maintain the original absorption features perfectly,including near-complete absorption at resonance as well as strong robustness to wide incident angles.Specifically,the full width at half-maximum and quality factor of the absorption resonances attenuate less than 26%and 8%with this new method,remaining in the ranges of^0.03–0.04 THz and^20–27 for two selected example MAs.More significantly,sensing capacities of this type of MA,in terms of maximum detection range(enhancing at least 9%),observable spectral modulation(increasing at least 6.3%),and refractive index sensitivity,are improved to a large extent because of more intense coupling between resonant field and matter in the case of surface-relief MAs.This stronger coupling results from exposing more spots of the resonantly high field to direct contact with an approaching analyte,which is illustrated by field profiles of the MAs at resonance in this work.Additionally,other desirable absorber features are also explored with such MAs,like functioning as building blocks to configure multiband MAs and strong robustness against fabrication errors.Such new-style terahertz MAs shown in the paper,acting as good examples,not only prove that terahertz MAs can be fabricated by the proposed time-and cost-saving route in contrast to the traditional MA fabrication process,but also can serve as novel platforms to explore other intriguing terahertz photonic effects,such as the field enhancement effect.WEI WANG FENGPING YAN SIYU TAN HAISU LI XUEMEI DU LUNA ZHANG ZHUOYA BAI DAN CHENG HONG ZHOU YAFEI HOU 2020Photonics Research2020,8,4:3

16Catalytic hydrogenation performance of ZIF-8 carbide for electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide显示文摘The conversion of CO_(2) electrocatalytic hydrogenation into energy-rich fuel is considered to be the most effective way to carbon recycle.Nitrogen-doping carbonized ZIF-8 is proposed as carrier of the earth-rich Sn catalyst to overcome the limit of electron transfer and CO_(2) adsorption capacity of Sn.Hierarchically porous structure of Sn doped carbonized ZIF-8 is controlled by hydrothermal and carbonization conditions,which induces much higher specific surface area than that of the commercial Sn nanoparticle(1003.174 vs.7.410 m^(2)·g^(-1)).The shift of nitrogen peaks in X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy spectra indicates interaction between ZIF-8 and Sn,which induces the shift of electron cloud from Sn to the chemical nitrogen to enhance conductivity and regulate electron transfer from catalyst to CO_(2).Lower mass transfer resistance and Warburg resistance are investigated through EIS,which significantly improves the catalytic activity for CO_(2) reduction reaction(CO_(2)RR).Onset potential of the reaction is reduced from-0.74 V to less than-0.54 V vs.RHE.The total Faraday efficiency of HCOOH and CO reaches 68.9%at-1.14 V vs.RHE,which is much higher than that of the commercial Sn(45.0%)and some other Sn-based catalyst reported in the literature.Shuai Fan Huiyuan Cheng Manman Feng Xuemei Wu Zihao Fan Dongwei Pan Gaohong He 2021Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2021,34,11:2
17BmCyclin B and BmCyclin B3 are required for cell cycle progression in the silkworm, Bombyx mori显示文摘Cyclin B is an important regulator of the cell cycle G2 to M phase transition. The silkworm genomic database shows that there are two Cyclin B genes in the silkworm (Bombyx mori), BmCyclin B and BmCyclin B3. Using silkworm EST data, the cyclin B3 (EU074796) gene was cloned. Its complete cDNA was 1665 bp with an ORF of 1536 bp derived from seven exons and six introns. The BmCyclin B3 gene encodes 511 amino acids, and the predicted molecular weight is 57.8 kD with an isoelectric point of 9.18. The protein contains one protein damage box and two cyclin boxes. RNA interference-mediated reduction of BmCyclin B and BmCyclin B3 expression induced cell cycle arrest in G2 or M phase in BmN-SWU1 cells, thus inhibiting cell proliferation. 19Online measurement of alkalinity in anaerobic co-digestion using linear regression method显示文摘Alkalinity is a reliable indicator of process stability in anaerobic digestion system.Total alkalinity(TA)and partial alkalinity(PA)are usually monitored offline as indicators for the status of anaerobic digestion process.In order to online monitor TA and PA,the linear regression method was used as estimator to predict alkalinity via software sensor method.Parameters,namely,pH,oxidation and reduction potential(ORP),and electrical conductivity(EC),were used as input variables.EC was the most significant parameter with TA and PA.Multiple linear regression(MLR)models and simple linear regression models with EC were constructed to predict TA and PA in anaerobic co-digestion system.On the basis of the evaluation of prediction accuracy,the applications of linear regression models were better for monitoring PA than TA.MLR models provided higher accuracy for alkalinity prediction than simple linear regression models.The two MLR models based on single-phase anaerobic digestion system were also feasible to predict TA in anaerobic co-digestion systems.However,the accuracy of these models should be improved by calibrating for broad applications of linear regression method in online alkalinity measurement.Bai Xue Li Zifu Wang Xuemei He Xi Cheng Shikun Bai Xiaofeng Gao Ruiling 2017International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2017,10,1:1
