Organising a juvenile ratio monitoring programme for 10 key waterbird species in the Yangtze River floodplain:analysis and proposals显示文摘Background:In the face of continued degradation and loss of wetlands in the Yangtze River floodplain(YRF),there is an urgent need to monitor the abundance and distribution of wintering waterbirds. To understand fully observed annual changes,we need to monitor demographic rates to understand factors affecting global population size.Annual reproduction success contributes to dynamic changes in population size and age structure,so an assessment of the juvenile ratio(i.e.first winter birds as a proportion of total number aged)of overwintering waterbirds can be an important indicator of the reproductive success in the preceding breeding season. Methods:During 2016-2019,we sampled juvenile ratios among 10 key waterbird species from the wetlands in the YRF.Based on these data,we here attempt to establish a simple, efficient, focused and reliable juvenile ratio monitoring scheme,to assess consistently and accurately relative annual breeding success and its contribution to the age structure among these waterbird species. Results:We compared juvenile ratio data collected throughout the winter and found that the optimal time for undertaking these samples was in the early stages of arrival for migratory waterbirds reaching their wintering area(early to mid-December).We recommend counting consistently at key points(i.e.those where>1%biogeographical flyway population were counted)at sites of major flyway importance(Poyang Lake,East Dongting Lake,Shengjin Lake,Caizi Lake,Longgan Lake and Chen Lake).Based on this, the error rate of the programme(155 planned points, the count of 10 waterbird species is 826-8955)is less than 5%.Conclusions:We established a juvenile ratio monitoring programme for 10 key waterbird species in the wetlands of the YRF,and discuss the feasibility and necessity of implementing such a future programme, and how to use these data in our monitoring and understanding of the population dynamics of these waterbird populations. | Yuxi Wang Iderbat Damba Qingshan Zhao Yanbo Xie Xueqing Deng Rdi Ga Guanhua Liu Zhiwen Xu Yue Li Dali Gao Wenbin Xu Guoxun Chen Lei Cao | 2021 | Avian Research2021,12,4: | 1

A biomimetic antitumor nanovaccine based on biocompatible calcium pyrophosphate and tumor cell membrane antigens显示文摘Currently, the cancer immunotherapy has made great progress while antitumor vaccine attracts substantial attention.Still, the selection of adjuvants as well as antigens are always the most crucial issues for better vaccination. In this study,we proposed a biomimetic antitumor nanovaccine based on biocompatible nanocarriers and tumor cell membrane antigens.Briefly, endogenous calcium pyrophosphate nanogranules with possible immune potentiating effect are designed and engineered, both as delivery vehicles and adjuvants. Then, these nanocarriers are coated with lipids and B16-OVA tumor cell membranes,so the biomembrane proteins can serve as tumor-specific antigens. It was found that calcium pyrophosphate nanogranules themselves were compatible and possessed adjuvant effect, while membrane proteins including tumor associated antigen were transferred onto the nanocarriers. It was demonstrated that such a biomimetic nanovaccine could be well endocytosed by dendritic cells, promote their maturation and antigen-presentation,facilitate lymph retention, and trigger obvious immune response. It was confirmed that the biomimetic vaccine could induce strong T-cell response, exhibit excellent tumor therapy and prophylactic effects, and simultaneously possess nice biocompatibility. In general, the present investigation might provide insights for the further design and application of antitumor vaccines. | Minghui Li Mengmeng Qin Ge Song Hailiang Deng Dakuan Wang Xueqing Wang Wenbing Dai Bing He Hua Zhang Qiang Zhang | 2021 | Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences2021,16,1: | 1
Identification of tick-borne pathogens using metagenomic analyses in H.longicornis feeding on humans in downtown Beijing显示文摘On August 14th,2018,a Beijing resident living in Xicheng District found a female H.longicornis tick attached to the skin at the front of his upper shin.On examination, the patient was afebrile and appeared well. The species of the tick was identified through morphological characteristics and phylogenetic analysis based on cytochrome C oxidase subunit I.This H.longicornis tick was screened for tick-borne pathogens such as viruses, bacteria and parasites.RNA pathogens were screened by PCR and sequencing, while DNA pathogens were screened by metagenomic analyses. It was found that the tick was positive for the DNA sequences of zoonotic and animal pathogens such as A phagocytophilum,Ehrlichia minasensis and C.burnetii.Considering the good health condition of the patient,we hypothesized that the pathogens originated from the tick specimen itself rather than host blood meal. For the first time, our study reveals the possible risk of transmission of tick-borne pathogens to human beings through tick bit in downtown Beijing.Further research is needed to screen for tick-borne pathogens among unfed ticks collected from central Beijing. | Jizhou Lv Huiyu Wang Xueqing Han Lin Mei Xiangfen Yuan Yufang Kong Junhua Deng Zhen F.Fu Shaoqiang Wu Xiangmei Lin | 2021 | Animal Diseases2021,1,3: | 0
Commissioning experiment of the high-contrast SILEX-Ⅱ multi-petawatt laser facility显示文摘The results of a commissioning experiment on the SILEX-Ⅱlaser facility(formerly known as CAEP-PW)are reported.SILEX-Ⅱis a complete optical parametric chirped-pulse amplification laser facility. The peak power reached about 1 PWin a 30 fs pulse duration during the experiment. The laser contrast was better than 1010 at 20 ps ahead of the main pulse. In the basic laser foil target interaction,a set of experimental data were collected, including spatially resolved x-ray emission, the image of the coherent transition radiation, the harmonic spectra in the direction of reflection, the energy spectra and beam profile of accelerated protons,hot-electron spectra, and transmitted laser energy fraction and spatial distribution. The experimental results show that the laser intensity reached 531020 W/cm^(2) within a 5.8μm focus(FWHM).Significant laser transmission did not occur when the thickness of theCHfoil was equal to or greater than 50 nm.The maximum energy of the accelerated protons in the target normal direction was roughly unchanged when the target thickness varied between 50 nm and 15μm.The maximum proton energy via the target normal sheath field acceleration mechanism was about 21 MeV.We expect the on-target laser intensity to reach 10^(22) W/cm^(2) in the near future, after optimization of the laser focus and upgrade of the laser power to 3 PW. | Wei Hong Shukai He Jian Teng Zhigang Deng Zhimeng Zhang Feng Lu Bo Zhang Bin Zhu Zenghai Dai Bo Cui Yuchi Wu Dongxiao Liu Wei Qi Jinlong Jiao Faqiang Zhang Zuhua Yang Feng Zhang Bi Bi Xiaoming Zeng Kainan Zhou Yanlei Zuo Xiaojun Huang Na Xie Yi Guo Jingqin Su Dan Han Ying Mao Leifeng Cao Weimin Zhou Yuqiu Gu Feng Jing Baohan Zhang Hongbo Cai Minqing He Wudi Zheng Shaoping Zhu Wenjun Ma Dahui Wang Yinren Shou Xueqing Yan Bin Qiao Yi Zhang Congling Zhong Xiaohui Yuan and Wenqing Wei | 2021 | Matter and Radiation at Extremes2021,6,6: | 0
Genome resources for the elite bread wheat cultivar Aikang 58 and mining of elite homeologous haplotypes for accelerating wheat improvement显示文摘Despite recent progress in crop genomics studies, the genomic changes brought about by modern breeding selection are still poorly understood, thus hampering genomics-assisted breeding, especially in polyploid crops with compound genomes such as common wheat(Triticum aestivum). In this work,we constructed genome resources for the modern elite common wheat variety Aikang 58(AK58).Comparative genomics between AK58 and the landrace cultivar Chinese Spring(CS)shed light on genomic changes that occurred through recent varietal improvement. We also explored subgenome diploidization and divergence in common wheat and developed a homoeologous locus-based genome-wide association study(HGWAS)approach, which was more effective than single homoeolog-based GWAS in unraveling agronomic trait-associated loci.A total of 123 major HGWAs loci were detected using a genetic population derived from AK58 and cs.Elite homoeologous haplotypes(HHs),formed by combinations of subgenomic homoeologs of the associated loci, were found in both parents and progeny, and many could substantially improve wheat yield and related traits. We built a website where users can download genome assembly sequence and annotation data for AK58,perform blast analysis, and run JBrowse. Our work enriches genome resources for wheat, provides new insights into genomic changes during modern wheat improve-.ment,and suggests that efficientmining of elite HHs can make a substantial contribuutionto genomics-assisted breeding in common wheat and other polyploid crops. | Jizeng Jia Guangyao Zhao Danping Li Kai Wang Chuizheng Kong Pingchuan Deng Xueqing Yan Xueyong Zhang Zefu Lu Shujuan Xu Yuannian Jiao Kang Chong Xu Liu Dangqun Cui Guangwei Li Yijing Zhang Chunguang Du Liang Wu Tianbao Li Dong Yan Kehui Zhan Feng Chen Zhiyong Wang Lichao Zhang Xiuying Kong Zhengang Ru Daowen Wang Lifeng Gao | 2023 | Molecular Plant2023,16,12: | 0
