1N-P fertilization did not reduce AMF abundance or diversity but alter AMF composition in an alpine grassland infested by a root hemiparasitic plant显示文摘Fertilization has been shown to have suppressive effects on arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi(AMF) and root hemiparasites separately in numerous investigations, but its effects on AMF in the presence of root hemiparasites remain untested. In view of the contrasting nutritional effects of AMF and root hemiparasites on host plants, we tested the hypothesis that fertilization may not show strong suppressive effects on AMF when a plant community was infested by abundant hemiparasitic plants. Plants and soil samples were collected from experimental field plots in Bayanbulak Grassland, where N and P fertilizers had been applied for three continuous years for control against a spreading root hemiparasite, Pedicularis kansuensis. Shoot and root biomass of each plant functional group were determined. Root AMF colonization levels, soil spore abundance, and extraradical hyphae length density were measured for three soil depths(0 e10 cm, 10 e20 cm, 20 e30 cm). Partial 18 S r RNA gene sequencing was used to detect AMF diversity and community composition. In addition, we analyzed the relationship between relative abundance of different AMF genera and environmental factors using Spearman's correlation method. In contrast to suppressive effects reported by many previous studies, fertilization showed no significant effects on AMF root colonization or AMF species diversity in the soil. Instead, a marked increase in soil spore abundance and extraradical hyphae length density were observed. However, fertilization altered relative abundance and AMF composition in the soil. 2Reconstruction of the western Pacific warm pool SST since 1644 AD and its relation to precipitation over East China显示文摘Based on coral proxies we reconstructed the western Pacific warm pool sea surface temperature (SST) since 1644 AD. High-frequency reconstructions are based on eight high-pass filtered coral series and raw reconstructions are derived from eight unfiltered coral series, respectively. Validation and comparison with other SST/temperature series show that the reconstructed warm pool SST is highly reliable. The leading periods of warm pool SST are ~2.1, ~2.3, ~2.9, ~3.6, ~3.8, and 80.7-year during the last ~360 years. The warm pool SST exhibits some obvious long-term trends: an upward trend of 0.04℃ per century for the period of 1644―1825, while a decreasing trend of 0.24℃ per century for the period of 1826―1885, and then a remarkable warming trend of 0.28℃ per century taking place between 1886 and 2006. Especially, the SST shows the strongest trend of 0.67℃ increase per century during the last 50 years, a warming unprecedented since 1644 AD. On interannual timescale, the connections between ENSO and the warm pool SST are robust during the reconstruction period. There are significant corre- lations between the warm pool SST and summer precipitation of the Yellow River basin and Huaihe River basin; the correlation coefficients are -0.44 in reconstruction period (1880―1949 AD) and -0.46 in instrumental period (1950―2005 AD) respectively. This relationship is also found between flooddrought index and the warm pool SST during the past 360 years, and their correlation coefficients are -0.20 in reconstruction period and-0.46 in instrumental period respectively, significant at the 0.01 level. On interdecadal timescale, this connection is more robust, and the correlation coefficient of the low-pass filtered components is -0.42 during the whole period (1644―2000 AD). When the warm pool is warmer than normal, the precipitation is usually below the normal in the Yellow River and Huaihe River basin. On the contrary, when the warm pool is colder than the normal, there may be more precipitation. 3A mathematical model to describe the diurnal pattern of enteric methane emissions from non-lactating dairy cows post-feeding显示文摘Enteric methane emission is not only a source of energy loss in ruminants, but also a potent contributor to greenhouse gas production. To identify the nature and timing of interventions to reduce methane emissions requires knowledge of temporal kinetics of methane emissions during animal husbandry.Accordingly, a mathematical model was developed to investigate the pattern of enteric methane emissions after feeding in dairy cows. The model facilitated estimation of total enteric methane emissions(V,g) produced by the residual substrate(V1, g) and newly ingested feed(V2, g). The model was fitted to the10 h methane emission patterns after morning feeding of 16 non-lactating dairy cows with various body weights(BW), and the obtained parameters were used to predict the kinetics of 24 h methane emission for each animal. The rate of methane emission(g/h) reached a maximum within 1 to 2 h after feeding,followed by a gradual post-prandial decline to a basal value before the next feeding. The model satisfactorily fitted curves for each cow according to the criterion of goodness-of-fit, and provided biological descriptions for fluctuations in methane emissions based on basal V1 and feeding V2 in response to the changes in BW and dry matter intake(DMI) of different dairy cows. The basal V1 and feeding V2 are probably maintained by slow-and readily-degradable substrates, respectively. The former contributed at least 0.6 of methane production. 4C.elegans-based screen identifies lysosome-damaging alkaloids that induce STAT3-dependent lysosomal cell death显示文摘Lysosomes are degradation and signaling centers within the cell,and their dysfunction impairs a wide variety of cellular processes.To understand the cellular effect of lysosome damage,we screened natural smallmolecule compounds that induce iysosomal abnormality using Caenorhabditis elegans (C.elegans)as a model system.A group of vobasinyl-ibogan type bisindole alkaloids (ervachinines A-D)were identified that caused lysosome enlargement in C.elegans macrophage-like cells.Intriguingly,these compounds triggered cell death in the germ line independently of the canonical apoptosis pathway.In mammalian cells, ervachinines A-D induced lysosomal enlargement and damage,leading to leakage of cathepsin proteases, inhibition of autophagosome degradation and necrotic cell death.Further analysis revealed that this ervachinine-induced lysosome damage and lysosomal cell death depended on STAT3 signaling,but not RIP1 or RIP3 signaling.These findings suggest that lysosomedamaging compounds are promising reagents for dissecting signaling mechanisms underlying lysosome homeostasis and lysosome-related human disorders.Yang Li Yu Zhang Qiwen Gan Meng Xu Xiao Ding Guihua Tang Jingjing Liang Kai Liu Xuezhao Liu Xin Wang Lingli Guo Zhiyang Gao Xiaojiang Hao Chonglin Yang 2018Protein & Cell2018,9,12:2
5Engineering Cu_(1.96)S/Co_(9)S_(8) with sulfur vacancy and heterostructure as an efficient bifunctional electrocatalyst for water splitting显示文摘Defect and interface engineering have been recognized as efficient strategies for developing high-performance electrocatalysts.However,it is still challenging to couple defect and interface engineering in transition metal sulfides and understand their dynamic evolution process during electrocatalysis.Herein,we developed one-step pyrolysis of bimetallic sulfide to construct S vacancy-rich Cu_(1.96)S/Co_(9)S_(8) heterostructure by controlling the critical decomposition temperature.The as-synthesized Cu_(1.96)S/Co_(9)S_(8) exhibits excellent bifunctional electrocatalytic performance,with a low overpotential of 99 and 200 mV at 10 mA cm−2 towards hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER)in 1.0 mol/L KOH electrolyte,respectively.A symmetric two-electrode cell with Cu_(1.96)S/Co_(9)S_(8) delivered a current density of 10 mA cm^(−2) at a low voltage of 1.43 V and showed long-term stability for 200 h.A series of in/ex-situ techniques revealed that the electrochemical reconfiguration only appeared in the OER process,resulting in the CoOOH/CuO and SO42−species promoting OER performance.Meanwhile,the S vacancy and heterostructure interface in Cu_(1.96)S/Co_(9)S_(8) were proved to optimize the electronic structure and the adsorption of intermediates for HER by density function theory(DFT)simulations.This work provides a promising strategy to construct metal sulfides with rich defects and heterogeneous interfaces and understand their dynamic evolution process for electrochemical storage and conversion devices.Yuanhua Xiao Ya Shen Dangcheng Su Shiwei Zhang Jinlin Yang Dafeng Yan Shaoming Fang Xuezhao Wang 2023Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023,,23:1

12Patent portfolio analysis model based on legal status information显示文摘Purpose:This research proposes a patent portfolio analysis model based on the legal status information to chart out a competitive landscape in a particular field,enabling organizations to position themselves within the overall technology landscape.Design/methodology/approach:Three indicators were selected for the proposed model:Patent grant rate,valid patents rate and patent maintenance period.The model uses legal status information to perform a qualitative evaluation of relative values of the individual patents,countries or regions' technological capabilities and competitiveness of patent applicants.The results are visualized by a four-quadrant bubble chart To test the effectiveness of the model,it is used to present a competitive landscape in the lithium ion battery field.Findings:The model can be used to evaluate the values of the individual patents,highlight countries or regions' positions in the field,and rank the competitiveness of patent applicants in the field.Research limitations:The model currently takes into consideration only three legal status indicators.It is actually feasible to introduce more indicators such as the reason for invalid patents and the distribution of patent maintenance time and associate them with those in the proposed model.Practical implications:Analysis of legal status information in combination of patent application information can help an organization to spot gaps in its patent claim coverage,as well as evaluate patent quality and maintenance situation of its granted patents.The study results can be used to support technology assessment,technology innovation and intellectual property management.Originality/value:Prior studies attempted to assess patent quality or competitiveness by using either single patent legal status indicator or comparative analysis of the impacts of each indicator.However,they are insufficient in presenting the combined effects of the evaluation indicators.Using our model,it appears possible to get a more complete and objective picture of the current competitive situation.Xuezhao WANG Yajuan ZHAO Jing ZHANG Ping ZHAO 2014Chinese Journal of Library and Information Science2014,,1:1

18Sodium butyrate promotes gastrointestinal development of preweaning bull calves via inhibiting inflammation,balancing nutrient metabolism,and optimizing microbial community functions显示文摘Butyrate promotes the growth and gastrointestinal development of calves.But,the mechanisms behind its effects on signaling pathways of the gastrointestinal tract and rumen microbiome is unclear.This study aimed to reveal transcriptomic pathways of gastrointestinal epithelium and microbial community in response to butyrate supplementation in calves fed a high fiber starter.Fourteen Holstein bull calves(39.9±3.7 kg,14 d of age)were assigned to 2 groups(sodium butyrate group,SB;control group,Ctrl).The SB group received 0.5%SB supplementation.At d 51,the calves were slaughtered to obtain samples for analysis of the transcriptome of the rumen and jejunum epithelium as well as ruminal microbial metagenome.Sodium butyrate supplementation resulted in a higher performance in average daily gain and development of jejunum and rumen papillae.In both the rumen and jejunum epithelium,SB downregulated pathways related to inflammation including NF-κB(PPKCB,CXCL8,CXCL12),interleukin-17(IL17A,IL17B,MMP9),and chemokine(CXCL12,CCL4,CCL8)and up-regulated immune pathways including the intestinal immune network for immunoglobulin A(IgA)production(CD28).Meanwhile,in the jejunum epithelium,SB regulated pathways related to nutritional metabolism including nitrogen metabolism(CA1,CA2,CA3),synthesis and degradation of ketone bodies(HMGCS2,BDH1,LOC100295719),fat digestion and absorption(PLA2G2F,APOA1,APOA4),and the PPAR signaling pathway(FABP4,FABP6,CYP4A11).The metagenome showed that SB greatly increased the relative abundance of Bacillus subtilis and Eubacterium limosum,activated ruminal microbial carbohydrate metabolism pathways and increased the abundance of carbohydrate hydrolysis enzymes.In conclusion,butyrate exhibited promoting effects on growth and gastrointestinal development by inhibiting inflammation,enhancing immunity and energy harvesting,and activating microbial carbohydrate metabolism.These findings provide new insights into the potential mechanisms behind the beneficial effects of butyrate in calf nutrition.Huiyue Zhong Wenjing Yu Min Wang Bo Lin Xuezhao Sun Nan Zheng Jiaqi Wang Shengguo Zhao 2023Animal Nutrition2023,,3:0
19Sheep numbers required for dry matter digestibility evaluations when fed fresh perennial ryegrass or forage rape显示文摘Research trials with fresh forages often require accurate and precise measurement of digestibility and variation in digestion between individuals, and the duration of measurement periods needs to be established to ensure reliable data are obtained. The variation is likely to be greater when freshly harvested feeds are given, such as perennial ryegrass(Lolium perenne L.) and forage rape(Brassica napus L.),because the nutrient composition changes over time and in response to weather conditions. Daily feed intake and faeces output data from a digestibility trial with these forages were used to calculate the effects of differing lengths of the measurement period and differing numbers of sheep, on the precision of digestibility, with a view towards development of a protocol. Sixteen lambs aged 8 months and weighing 33 kg at the commencement of the trial were fed either perennial ryegrass or forage rape(8/treatment group) over 2 periods with 35 d between measurements. They had been acclimatised to the diets, having grazed them for 42 d prior to 11 days of indoor measurements. The sheep numbers required for a digestibility trial with different combinations of acclimatisation and measurement period lengths were subsequently calculated for 3 levels of imposed precision upon the estimate of mean dry matter(DM) digestibility.
