3Population Genomic Analysis and De Novo Assembly Reveal the Origin of Weedy Rice as an Evolutionary Game显示文摘Crop weediness,especially that of weedy rice(Oryza sativa f.spontanea),remains mysterious.Weedy rice possesses robust ecological adaptability;however,how this strain originated and gradually formed proprietary genetic features remains unclear?Here,we demonstrate that weedy rice at Asian high latitudes(WRAH)is phylogenetically well defined and possesses unselected genomic characteristics in many divergence regions between weedy and cultivated rice.We also identified novel quantitative trait loci underlying weedy-specific traits,and revealed that a genome block on the end of chromosome 1 is associated with rice weediness.To identify the genomic modifications underlying weedy rice evolution,we generated the first de novo assembly of a high-quality weedy rice genome(WR04-6),and conducted a comparative genomics study between WR04-6 with other rice reference genomes.Multiple lines of evidence,including the results of demographic scenario comparisons,suggest that differentiation between weedy rice and cultivated rice was initiated by genetic improvement of cultivated rice and that the essence of weediness arose through semi-domestication.A plant height model further implied that the origin of WRAH can be modeled as an evolutionary game and indicated that strategy-based selection driven by fitness shaped its genomic diversity.Jian Sun Dianrong Ma Liang Tang Minghui Zhao Guangchen Zhangh Wenjia Wang Jiayu Song Xiang Li Zimeng Liu Wenxing Zhang Quan Xu Yuncheng Zhou Jianzhong Wu Toshio Yamamoto Fei Dai Yan Lei Song Li Gang Zhou Hongkun Zheng Zhengjin Xu Wenfu Chen 2019Molecular Plant2019,12,5:9
4Prevalence and treatment of hypertension in China: impacts of 2017 American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association High Blood Pressure Guideline显示文摘The definition, recommended treatment thresholds and targets of hypertension have been updated in the recent 2017 American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association(ACC/AHA) Guideline for the Prevention, Detection, Evaluation and Management of High Blood Pressure in Adults. However,the impacts of this guideline on Chinese population are currently unknown. In this study, we aim to provide updated data in China using criteria from the updated guideline. A multistage, stratified sampling method was used to obtain a representative sample of 50,171 adults aged 18 years and above.Hypertension was defined as an average systolic blood pressure !130 mm Hg, or an average diastolic blood pressure !80 mm Hg, or self-reported use of antihypertensive medications in past 2 weeks. The weighted prevalence of hypertension was 60.1%(95% confidence interval [CI] 59.3%–61.0%). The treatment rate and recommended treatment rate were 16.8%(95% CI 16.1%–17.6%) and 53.7%(95% CI52.6%–54.9%), respectively; the gap was more prominent among men and participants from rural areas.Hence, the adoption of the 2017 ACC/AHA guideline will lead to a substantial increase in both prevalence and number of patients needing treatment in China. 5Remote-mode microsphere nano-imaging:new boundaries for optical microscopes显示文摘Optical microscope is one of the most popular characterization techniques for general purposes in many fields. It is distinguishedfrom the vacuum or tip-based imaging techniques for its flexibility, low cost, and fast speed. However, its resolutionlimits the functionality of current optical imaging performance. While microspheres have been demonstrated forimproving the observation power of optical microscope, they are directly deposited on the sample surface and thus theapplications are greatly limited. We develop a remote-mode microsphere nano-imaging platform which can scan freelyand in real-time across the sample surfaces. It greatly increases the observation power and successfully characterizesvarious practical samples with the smallest feature size down to 23 nm. 7Liquid exfoliating CdS and MoS_(2) to construct 2D/2D MoS_(2)/CdS heterojunctions with significantly boosted photocatalytic H2 evolution activity显示文摘Fabrication of 2D/2D heterojunction photocatalysts have attracted more attentions due to their inherent merits involving the large contact interface,short charge migration distance and plentiful active sites,which are beneficial for the enhancement of photocatalytic activity.Herein,a series of 2D/2D MoS_(2)/Cd S type-I heterojunctions were prepared by incorporation the exfoliating of bulk CdS and MoS_(2) with postsintering procedure.Multiple characteristic techniques were employed to corroborate the formation of heterojunctions.By optimizing the 2D MoS_(2) amounts in the heterojunction,the 7 wt.%2D/2D MoS_(2)/CdS heterojunction displayed the maximal photocatalytic H2 evolution rate of 18.43 mmol h^(-1) g^(-1) under visible light irradiation in the presence of lactic acid as the sacrificial reagent,which was 6 times higher than that of pristine 2D CdS.Based on the photoelectrochemical and photoluminescence spectra tests,it could be deduced that the charge separation and transfer of 2D/2D MoS_(2)/CdS heterojunction was tremendously improved,and the recombination of photoinduced electron-hole pairs was effectively impeded.Moreover,the 2D MoS_(2) was used as a cocatalyst to provide the abundant active sites and lower the overpotential for H_(2) generation reaction.The current work would offer an insight to fabricate the 2D/2D heterojunction photocatalysts for splitting H_(2)O into H_(2).Minghui Xiong Juntao Yan Bo Chai Guozhi Fan Guangsen Song 2020Journal of Materials Science & Technology2020,56,21:4
8Wide bandwidth acoustic transmission via coiled-up metamaterial with impedance matching layers显示文摘Many acoustic metamaterials suffer from a narrow bandwidth transmission because of the impedance mismatch at the airmetamaterial interface. In this paper, a two-dimensional impedance-matched metamaterial with broadband transmission performance is investigated. The impedance matching layer is introduced for a gradient variation of effective impedance from the inlet of the unit to the outlet. The effective medium theory and corresponding effective model are used to explain the underlying mechanism. The improved energy transmission of our designs is demonstrated by experiment and numerical simulation within a broad frequency bandwidth over 6 kHz. 9Genome-wide association mapping of stress-tolerance traits in cotton显示文摘Environmental stresses severely impair cotton production worldwide. To identify the genetic basis of, and molecular markers associated with, environmental stresses such as salt, cold and Verticillium wilt, association mapping of salt-, cold-, and disease-tolerance traits was performed in a population of 503 upland cotton accessions using 179 polymorphic SSR markers and 11,975 array-derived SNP markers. Salt and cold tolerance was evaluated via the relative germination rate(RGR) of the seeds under seven and four environments, respectively. The disease index of Verticillium wilt was investigated for two years in the field in Xinjiang. These three traits showed large variation across environments. A genome-wide association study revealed that 31, 19, and 15 SSR markers were associated with RGR-Salt(the relative germination rates of seeds under salt stress),RGR-Cold(the relative germination rates of seeds under cold stress), and DIV(the disease index of Verticillium wilt), respectively. Six SNPs in seven environments and two SNPs in BLUP(best linear unbiased prediction) results were associated with RGR-Salt, and the phenotypic variance explained ranged from 3.96 to 5.00%. Two SNPs(i02237 Gh, i02243 Gh)on D01 were concluded to be stable genetic loci associated with RGR-Salt. A total of 223 genes were found in a candidate gene interval(D01, 37771–1942912). Of these four genes,GhPIP3A, GhSAG29, GhTZF4, and GhTZF4a, showed expression changes in sensitive and tolerant genotype accessions under salt stress, and were assigned as candidate genes associated with RGR-Salt. 10The prognostic value of programmed cell death ligand 1expression in non-Hodgkin lymphoma:a meta-analysis显示文摘Objective: Although the prognostic value of programmed cell death-ligand 1(PD-L1) expression in non-Hodgkin lymphoma(NHL) has been evaluated in many studies, the results remain controversial. To investigate the prognostic role of PD-L1 expression and the association between PD-L1 expression and clinicopathological features of NHL, we performed a meta-analysis.Methods: The Pub Med, EMBASE, and Cochrane Library databases were searched up to November 30, 2017. The hazard ratio(HR), 95% confidence interval(CI), and odds ratios(OR) with 95% CIs were combined to evaluate the association of PD-L1 expression with overall survival(OS) and clinicopathological features. Review manager 5.3 and STATA 12.0 were used in this meta-analysis.Results: A total of 2,005 patients across nine studies were enrolled in our meta-analysis, and the pooled results showed that high PD-L1 expression was associated with a poor prognosis(HR=2.04, 95% CI: 1.18–3.54, P=0.01). In the subgroup analysis according to histology types, pooled results demonstrated that an increased PD-L1 expression was an unfavorable prognostic factor for diffuse large B-cell lymphoma(HR=1.92, 95% CI: 1.06–3.48, P=0.03) but not for natural killer/T-cell lymphoma(HR=2.41, 95%CI: 0.47–12.22, P=0.29). Pooled ORs indicated that PD-L1 expression was higher in NHL with international prognostic indices of≥3. However, PD-L1 expression had no correlation with gender, age, disease stage, lactate dehydrogenase level, B symptoms, and germinal center B-cell-like lymphoma.Conclusions: High PD-L1 expression was a poor prognostic biomarker in patients with NHL. 11Nonlinear transient responses of rotating twisted FGM cylindrical panels显示文摘This paper develops a new structure dynamic model to investigate nonlinear transient responses of the rotating blade made of functionally graded material(FGM). The rotating blade is simplified as a rotating FGM cylindrical panel with a presetting angle and a twist angle. The geometric nonlinearity effects are taken into account in the strain-displacement relationships, which are derived by Green strain tensor. Based on the first-order piston theory and the first-order shear deformation theory, the equations of motion for the rotating twisted FGM cylindrical panel are acquired by means of Hamilton principle and Galerkin method.Backward Differentiation Formula(BDF) and Runge-Kutta Algorithm are used to solve the nonlinear equations of motion for the system. The effects of four pulse load conditions on the system subjected to the internal pulse load or the external pulse load are fully discussed. 12Realization of laser textured brass surface via temperature tuning for surface wettability transition显示文摘Superhydrophobic surfaces have attracted extensive interests and researches into their fundamentals and potential applications.Laser texturing provides the convenience to fabricate the hierarchical micro/nanostructures for superhydrophobicity.However,after laser texturing,long wettability transition time from superhydrophilicity to superhydrophobicity is a barrier to mass production and practical industrial applications.External stimuli have been applied to change the surface composition and/or the surface morphology to reduce wettability transition time.Herein,by temperature tuning,wettability transition of laser textured brass surfaces is investigated.Scanning electron microscopy and surface contact angle measurement are employed to characterize the surface morphology and wettability behavior of the textured brass surfaces.By low-temperature heating(100℃~150℃),partial deoxidation of the top Cu O layer occurs to form hydrophobic Cu_2O.Therefore,superhydrophobicity without any chemical coating and surface modification could be achieved in a short time.Furthermore,after low-temperature heating,the low adhesive force between the water droplet and the sample surface is demonstrated for the laser textured brass surface.This study provides a simple method to fabricate the micro/nanostructure surfaces with controllable wettability for the potential applications.Huangping Yan Mohamed Raiz B Abdul Rashid Si Ying Khew Fengping Li Minghui Hong 2017光电工程2017,44,6:2

15Metalens in harmony with refractive optics显示文摘Optical dispersion is an inherent property of all materials in nature. Due to the dispersion of the optical material and the phase accumulation of the light field at different wavelengths, chromatic aberration is inevitable in commercial optical lens. When taking pictures by lenses with severe chromatic aberration, the images will look blurred or noticeably colored edges (red, green, blue) around the objects, especially in high-contrast situations. Thus, achromatism, correction of the chromatic aberration, is extremely important in broadband optical applications. There are mainly two approaches in the correction of the chromatic aberration in existing optical systems: combining the refractive lenses with different dispersions or introducing the diffractive optical elements. 16Systematic Evaluation of Pharmacognostic Identification of Polygonum capitatum显示文摘[Objectives] To investigate the systematic evaluation of pharmacognostic identification of Polygonum capitatum . [Methods] 10 batches of P. capitatum cultivated in Guizhou were chosen for plant samples. Macroscopical identification was conducted on plant roots, stems, leaves, flowers and fruits. The P. capitatum powder was processed for physical and chemical distinction by FeCl 3 chromogenic reaction, hydrochloric acid magnesium powder reaction, AlCl 3 color development reaction and thin-layer chromatography.Microscope identification was carried out on the powder. Plant genome DNeasy Plant Kit was adopted for DNA molecular marker identification. [Results] The results showed that the stem of P. capitatum was tufted, the leaves were oval, 2 to 5 cm long, and 1 to 2 cm wide;the leaf apex was acute and cuneate at the base, the inflorescence was capitate, paired or solitary;the raceme was erect and nearly spherical, and the perianth was light red. Furthermore, for the chromogenic reaction of FeCl 3 ethanol extract of P. capitatum , appeared blue and turned to dark blue after long time storing at room temperature. For the reaction of hydrochloric acid magnesium powder, the alcohol extract of P. capitatum , exhibited deep red. In the color reaction of AlCl 3, the alcohol extract revealed yellow fluorescence under 360 nm UV lamp. Microscope identification of the powder displayed pollen grains, crystal sheath fibers, cellulose, vessels, starch grains, cork cells, and other characteristic fragments. In addition, DNA barcoding electrophoresis results showed that P. capitatum showed a clear and bright single band near 500 bp, and further sequencing results showed that the sequence differences were mainly concentrated in ITS1 and ITS2 region. [Conclusions] Systematic evaluation for the identification of P. capitatum is established, which combines with macroscopic identification, physicochemical identification, powder microscope identification, and DNA molecular identification. 17Sub-50 nm optical imaging in ambient air with 10× objective lens enabled by hyper-hemi-microsphere显示文摘Optical microsphere nanoscope has great potential in the inspection of integrated circuit chips for semiconductor industry and morphological characterization in biology due to its superior resolving power and label-free characteristics.However,its resolution in ambient air is restricted by the magnification and numerical aperture(NA)of microsphere.High magnification objective lens is required to be coupled with microsphere for nano-imaging beyond the diffraction limit.To overcome these challenges,in this work,high refractive index hyper-hemi-microspheres with tunable magnification up to 10×are proposed and realized by accurately tailoring their thickness with focused ion beam(FIB)milling.The effective refractive index is put forward to guide the design of hyper-hemi-microspheres.Experiments demonstrate that the imaging resolution and contrast of a hyper-hemi-microsphere with a higher magnification and larger NA excel those of a microsphere in air.Besides,the hyper-hemi-microsphere could resolve~50 nm feature with higher image fidelity and contrast compared with liquid immersed high refractive index microspheres.With a hyper-hemi-microsphere composed microscale compound lens configuration,sub-50 nm optical imaging in ambient air is realized by only coupling with a 10×objective lens(NA=0.3),which enhances a conventional microscope imaging power about an order of magnitude.Guangxing Wu Yan Zhou Minghui Hong 2023Light(Science & Applications)2023,12,3:1

20Catholyte engineering to release the capacity of iodide for high-energy-density iodine-based redox flow batteries显示文摘Due to the high solubility,high reversibility,and low cost of iodide,iodine-based redox flow batteries(RFBs)are considered to have great potential for upscaling energy storage.However,their further development has been limited by the low capacity of I−as one-third of the I−is used to form I3−(I2I−)during the charging process.Herein,we have demonstrated that the pseudohalide ion,thiocyanate(SCN−),is a promising complexing agent for catholyte of iodinebased RFBs to free up the I−by forming iodine-thiocyanate ions([I2SCN]−)instead of I3−,unlocking the capacity of iodide.Applying this strategy,we have demonstrated iodine-based RFBs with full utilization of iodide to achieve high capacity and high energy density.Both the zinc/iodine RFB and polysulfide/iodine RFB with SCN−complex agent achieve their theoretical capacity of around 160 A h Lposolyte^(−1)(6.0MI−in catholyte).Therefore,the zinc/iodine RFB delivers a high energy density of 221.34Wh Lposolyte^(−1),and the polysulfide/iodine RFB achieves a highenergy density of 165.62Wh Lposolyte^(−1).It is believed that this effective catholyte engineering can be further generalized to other iodine-based RFBs,offering new opportunities to unlock the capacity of iodide and achieve high energy density for energy storage.Bo Lu Minghui Yang Mei Ding Su Yan Weizhe Xiang Yuanhang Cheng Hu Fu Zhizhao Xu Chuankun Jia 2023SusMat2023,3,4:1
