2A quantum-chemical study on the discharge reaction mechanism of lithium-sulfur batteries显示文摘Lithium-sulfur batteries have attracted a great interest in electrochemical energy conversion and storage, but their discharge mechanism remains not well understood up to now. Here, we report density functional theory (DFT) calculation study of the discharge mechanism for lithium-sulfur batteries which are based on the structure of S8 and Li2S x (1≤x≤8) clusters. The results show that for Li2S x (1≤x≤8) clusters, the most stable geometry is chainlike when x = 1 and 6, while the minimal-energy structure is found to be cyclic when x = 2-5, 7,8. The stability of Li2S x (1≤x≤8) clusters increases with the decreasing x value, indicating a favorable thermodynamic tendency of transition from S8 to Li2S. A three-step reaction route has been proposed during the discharge process, that is, S8 →Li2S4 at about 2.30 V, Li2S4 →Li2S2 at around 2.22 V, and Li2S2 → Li2S at 2.18 V. Furthermore, the effect of the electrolyte on the potential platform has been also investigated. The discharge potential is found to increase with the decrease of dielectric constant of the electrolyte. 3Mutation of the PHYTOENE DESATURASE 3 gene causes yellowish-white petals in Brassica napus显示文摘Oilseed rape (Brassica napus) with yellow flowers is an attractive ornamental landscape plant during the flowering period,and the development of different petal colors has become a breeding objective.Although yellowish flower color is a common variant observed in field-grown oilseed rape,the genetics behind this variation remains unclear.We obtained a yellowish-white flower (ywf) mutant from Zhongshuang 9 (ZS9) by ethyl methanesulfonate mutagenesis (EMS) treatment.Compared with ZS9,ywf exhibited a lower carotenoid content with a reduced and defective chromoplast ultrastructure in the petals.Genetic analysis revealed that the yellowish-white trait was controlled by a single recessive gene.Using bulked-segregant analysis sequencing (BSA-seq) and kompetitive allele-specific PCR(KASP),we performed map-based cloning of the ywf locus on chromosome A08 and found that ywf harbored a C-to-T substitution in the coding region,resulting in a premature translation termination.YWF,encoding phytoene desaturase 3 (PDS3),was highly expressed in oilseed rape petals and involved in carotenoid biosynthesis.Pathway enrichment analysis of the transcriptome profiles from ZS9 and ywf indicated the carotenoid biosynthesis pathway to be highly enriched.Further analyses of differentially expressed genes and carotenoid components revealed that the truncated Bna A08.PDS3 resulted in decreased carotenoid biosynthesis in the mutant.These results contribute to an understanding of the carotenoid biosynthesis pathway and manipulation of flower-color variation in B.napus.Chuanji Zhao Luqman Bin Safdar Meili Xie Meijuan Shi Zhixue Dong Li Yang Xiaohui Cheng Yueying Liu Zetao Bai Yang Xiang Chaobo Tong Junyan Huang Lijiang Liu Shengyi Liu 2021The Crop Journal2021,9,5:3
4Antibiotics-mediated intestinal microbiome perturbation aggravates tacrolimus-induced glucose disorders in mice显示文摘Both immunosuppressants and antibiotics (ABX) are indispensable for transplant patients. However, the former increases the risk of new-onset diabetes, whereas the latter impacts intestinal microbiota (IM). It is still unclear whether and how the interaction between immunosuppressants and ABX alters the IM and thus leads to glucose metabolism disorders. This study examined the alterations of glucose and lipid metabolism and IM in mice exposed to tacrolimus (TAC) with or without ABX. We found that ABX further aggravated TAC-induced glucose tolerance and increased insulin secretion. Combined treatment resulted in exacerbated lipid accumulation in the liver. TAC-altered microbial community was further amplified by ABX administration, as characterized by reductions in phylum Firmicutes, family Lachnospiraceae, and genus Copyococcus. Analyses based on the metagenomic profiles revealed that ABX augmented the effect of TAC on microbial metabolic function mostly related to lipid metabolism. The altered components of gut microbiome and predicted microbial functional profiles showed significant correlation with hepatic lipid accumulation and glucose disorders. In conclusion, ABX aggravated the effect of TAC on the microbiome and its metabolic capacities, which might contribute to hepatic lipid accumulation and glucose disorders. 5On the molecular mechanism of ion specific Hofmeister series显示文摘Hofmeister series ranks the ability of salt ions in influencing a variety of properties and processes in aqueous solutions.In this review,we reexamine how these ions and some other small molecules affect water structure and thermodynamic properties,such as surface tension and protein backbone solvation.We illustrate the difficulties in interpreting the thermodynamic information based on structural and dynamic arguments.As an alternative,we show that the solvation properties of ions and proteins/small molecules can be used to explain the salt effects on the thermodynamic properties of the solutions.Our analysis shows that the often neglected cation-anion cooperativity plays a very important role in these effects.We also argue that the change of hydrogen donor/acceptor equilibrium by added cosolutes/cosolvents can be used to explain their effects on protein secondary structure denaturation/protection:those increase hydrogen donor concentrations such as urea and salts with strongly solvated cations/weakly hydrated anions tend to dissolve protein backbone acting as secondary structure denaturants,whereas those lack of hydrogen donors but rich in acceptors have the opposite effect.XIE WenJun LIU ChengWen YANG LiJiang GAO YiQin 2014Science China Chemistry2014,57,1:2

8R11 peptides can promote the molecular imaging of spherical nucleic acids for bladder cancer margin identification显示文摘One of the critical problems in bladder cancer(BC)management is the local recurrence of disease.However,achieving the accurate delineation of tumor margins intraoperatively remains extremely difficult due to the lack of effective tumor margin recognition technology.Herein,survivin molecular beacon(MB)and R11 peptide-linked spherical nucleic acids(SNAs)were synthesized as nanoprobes(AuNP-MB@R11)for sensitive detection of BC margins.Physicochemical properties proved that R11 peptides and survivin MB were successfully loaded onto the surface of SNAs.AuNP-MB@R11 had good stability against nuclease activity and high sensitivity and specificity to detect survivin single strand DNA(ssDNA)in vitro.According to cytology,R11 peptides could increase the BC targeting ability and membrane penetrability of SNAs.Notably,R11 peptides significantly promoted the disintegration of lysosomes and the release of SNAs to enhance fluorescence imaging quality.Further RNA sequencing proved that some genes and pathways related to endocytosis and lysosomes were significantly regulated,such as AGPAT5,GPD1L,and GRB2.In orthotopic BC models and a clinical sample from a patient with BC,AuNP-MB@R11 showed a more legible cancerous fluorescence margin and offered remarkably improved detection compared to those achieved by SNAs.R11 peptide-linked SNAs present promising potential to identify BC margin,which may help to improve the R0 resection rate in surgery and improve patients’quality of life.Minghai Ma Pu Zhang Xiao Liang Daxiang Cui Qiuya Shao Haibao Zhang Mengzhao Zhang Tao Yang Lu Wang Nan Zhang Minxuan Jing Lu Zhang Weichao Dan Rundong Song Xi Liu Jiatao Hao Yuhang Chen Lijiang Gu Lei Wang Jinhai Fan 2022Nano Research2022,15,3:1

11SPONGE:A GPU-Accelerated Molecular Dynamics Package with Enhanced Sampling and AI-Driven Algorithms显示文摘SPONGE(Simulation Package tOward Next GEneration molecular modeling)is a software package for molecular dynamics(MD)simulation of solution and surface molecular systems.In this version of SPONGE,the all-atom potential energy functions used in AMBER MD packages are used by default and other all-atom/coarse-grained potential energy functions are also supported.SPONGE is designed to extend the timescale being approached in MD simulations by utilizing the latest CUDA-enabled graphical processing units(GPU)and adopting highly efficient enhanced sampling algorithms,such as integrated tempering,selective integrated tempering and enhanced sampling of reactive trajectories.It is highly modular and new algorithms and functions can be incorporated con veniently.Particularly,a specialized Python plugin can be easily used to perform the machine learning MD simulation with MindSpore,TensorFlow,PyTorch or other popular machine learning frameworks.Furthermore,a plugin of Finite-Element Method(FEM)is also available to handle metallic surface systems.All these advanced features increase the power of SPONGE for modeling and simulation of complex chemical and biological systems.Yu-Peng Huang Yijie Xia Lijiang Yang Jiachen Wei Yi Isaac Yang Yi Qin Gao 2022Chinese Journal of Chemistry2022,40,1:1
