1Heyan Kuntai capsule versus dehydroepiandrosterone in treating Chinese patients with infertility caused by diminished ovarian reserve: a multicenter, randomized controlled trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of Heyan Kuntai capsule(HYKT) in treating women with infertility caused by diminished ovarian reserve(DOR).METHODS: One hundred eight eligible patientsfrom three Chinese hospitals were randomly divided into an HYKT treatment group(n = 55) or a dehydroepiandrosterone(DHEA) treatment group(n =53). Patients in the HYKT group were treated orally with four 0.5 g HYKT three times a day; patients in the DHEA group were treated with one 25.0 mg DHEA capsule three times a day. All patients were treated for 3 months and followed up over a3-month period.RESULTS: Of 108 patients, 12 dropped out: six from the HYKT group, and six from the DHEA group. Eleven patients got pregnant during the treatment. Serum anti-Müllerian hormone levels and antral follicle counts increased significantly in both groups after treatment(P < 0.05) especially in the HYKT group(P < 0.05). Serum follicle stimulating hormone(FSH) levels and FSH/luteinizing hormone ratios decreased(P < 0.05) with no significant difference between the two groups. Estradiol levels in the HYKT group and DHEA-sulfate levels in the DHEA group both increased(P < 0.05). The spontaneous pregnancy rates were 12% and 11% in the HYKT and DHEA groups, respectively(not significant). During the follow-up period, 16 patients in the HYKT group underwent in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer(IVF-ET) and the number of retrieved oocytes was(5.1 ± 1.8). In DHEA group, 20 patients underwent IVF-ET and the number of retrieved oocyte was(4.2 ± 1.9)(not significant); clinical pregnancy rates were 38% in the HYKT group and 20%in DHEA group(not significant). No significant adverse reactions were observed.CONCLUSION: HYKT can improve the ovarian re-serve and hormone levels in patients with infertility caused by DOR. 4Rotifer community structure and its response to environmental factors in the Backshore Wetland of Expo Garden,Shanghai显示文摘We investigated rotifer community structure in the Backshore Wetland of the Expo Garden in Shanghai from September 2009 to August 2010.We identified 116 rotifer species,determined the dominant species and their relationships with environmental factors,and community diversity indices.Polyarthra trigla was the most common species over the four seasons and proportionally most dominant in spring and autumn,whereas Cephalodella exigua and Keratella cochlearis were the most dominant species in winter and summer,respectively.There was seasonal variability in species numbers,with the highest numbers in summer,followed by autumn and winter.The mean annual density was 815±1346 ind./L and the biomass was 0.3649±0.4940 mg/L.There were significant differences between months:the highest density(2723±2926 ind./L)and biomass(0.7938±0.8197 mg/L)occurred in June,while the lowest density(238±271 ind./L)and biomass(0.0476±0.0429 mg/L)occurred in May.Canonical correspondence analysis(CCA)indicated that temperature,pH,nitrite nitrogen(NO2-N),and total phosphorus(TP)were the most important abiotic factors affecting rotifer distribution.Our research showed that the adaptability of the rotifers to temperature was the important factor.Liping Yin Yu Ji Yinjiang Zhang Linxuan Chong Lijing Chen 2018Aquaculture and Fisheries2018,3,2:4

8Characterization of Bioaerosol Bacterial Communities During Hazy and Foggy Weather in Qingdao, China显示文摘This study was conducted to evaluate the impact of hazy and foggy weather on the bacterial communities in bioaerosols, for which samples were collected from the Qingdao coastal region on sunny, foggy, and hazy days in January and March 2013. Bacterial community compositions were determined using polymerase chain reaction denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis(PCR-DGGE). The bacterial community diversity was found to be high on foggy and hazy days, and the dominant species differed during hazy weather. The Shannon-Wiener index revealed that the bacterial community diversity of coarse particles was higher than that of fine particles in the bioaerosols. The bacterial community diversity of fine particles significantly correlated with relative humidity(RH; r^2 = 0.986). The cluster analysis results indicated that the bacterial communities on sunny days differed from those on hazy and foggy days. Compared with sunny days, the bacterial communities in the fine particles during hazy weather exhibited greater changes than those in the coarse particles. Most of the sequenced bacteria were found to be closely affiliated with uncultured bacteria. During hazy weather, members of the classes Bacilli and Gammaproteobacteria(Pseudomonas and Acinetobacter) were dominant. The DGGE analysis revealed that Proteobacteria and Firmicutes were the predominant phyla, and their relative percentages to all the measured species changed significantly on hazy days, particularly in the fine particles. 9Another Record: Ocean Warming Continues through 2021 despite La Nina Conditions显示文摘The increased concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere from human activities traps heat within the climate system and increases ocean heat content(OHC). Here, we provide the first analysis of recent OHC changes through 2021 from two international groups. The world ocean, in 2021, was the hottest ever recorded by humans, and the 2021 annual OHC value is even higher than last year’s record value by 14 ± 11 ZJ(1 zetta J = 1021 J) using the IAP/CAS dataset and by16 ± 10 ZJ using NCEI/NOAA dataset. The long-term ocean warming is larger in the Atlantic and Southern Oceans than in other regions and is mainly attributed, via climate model simulations, to an increase in anthropogenic greenhouse gas concentrations. The year-to-year variation of OHC is primarily tied to the El Nino-Southern Oscillation(ENSO). In the seven maritime domains of the Indian, Tropical Atlantic, North Atlantic, Northwest Pacific, North Pacific, Southern oceans,and the Mediterranean Sea, robust warming is observed but with distinct inter-annual to decadal variability. Four out of seven domains showed record-high heat content in 2021. 16Adaptive sliding mode control of multi-agent relay tracking systems with disturbances显示文摘This paper studies the switching topologies and tracking agent replacements for a class of nonlinear multi-agent systems with external disturbances.In particular,it is assumed that a number of monitoring agents are randomly deployed in a two-dimensional space.The agents are committed to tracking any intrusion targets in this area.When one of the following agents exits tracking for some reasons,the agent closer to the target joins the tracking team to ensure the number of tracking agents does not change.In order to achieve the successful tracking of the target,this paper designs a sliding mode controller for the relay multi-agent system with tracking agent replacements.Furthermore,an adaptive law is proposed to estimate the upper bound of disturbance in the relay tracking process.Next,the stability of the overall system will be analysed by applying the multiple Lyapunov function method based on the average dwell time.Finally,the effectiveness of the tracking strategy is verified by numerical simulations.Deyin Yu Lijing Dong Hao Yan 2021Journal of Control and Decision2021,8,2:1
17Effects of arginine replacement with L-citrulline on the arginine/nitric oxide metabolism in chickens:An animal model without urea cycle显示文摘Background This study examined the efficacy of L-citrulline supplementation on the arginine/nitric oxide metabolism,and intestinal functions of broilers during arginine deficiency.A total of 288 day-old Arbor Acre broilers were randomly assigned to either an arginine deficient basal diet(NC diet),NC diet+0.50%L-arginine(PC diet),or NC diet+0.50%L-citrulline(NCL diet).Production performance was recorded,and at 21 days old,chickens were euthanized for tissue collection.Results The dietary treatments did not affect the growth performance of broilers(P>0.05),although NC diet increased the plasma alanine aminotransferase,urate,and several amino acids,except arginine(P<0.05).In contrast,NCL diet elevated the arginine and ornithine concentration higher than NC diet,and it increased the plasma citrulline greater than the PC diet(P<0.05).The nitric oxide concentration in the kidney and liver tissues,along with the plasma and liver e NOS activities were promoted by NCL diet higher than PC diet(P<0.05).In the liver,the activities of arginase 1,ASS,and ASL,as well as,the gene expression of i NOS and OTC were induced by PC diet greater than NC diet(P<0.05).In the kidney,the arginase 1,ASS and ASL enzymes were also increased by PC diet significantly higher than the NC and NCL diets.Comparatively,the kidney had higher abundance of n NOS,ASS,ARG2,and OTC genes than the liver tissue(P<0.05).In addition,NCL diet upregulated(P<0.05)the m RNA expression of intestinal nutrient transporters(EAAT3 and PEPT1),tight junction proteins(Claudin 1 and Occludin),and intestinal mucosal defense(MUC2 and p Ig R).The intestinal morphology revealed that both PC and NCL diets improved(P<0.05)the ileal VH/CD ratio and the jejunal VH and VH/CD ratio compared to the NC fed broilers.Conclusion This study revealed that NCL diet supported arginine metabolism,nitric oxide synthesis,and promoted the intestinal function of broilers.Thus,L-citrulline may serve as a partial arginine replacement in broiler’s diet without detrimental impacts on the performance,arginine metabolism and gut health of chickens.Victoria Anthony Uyanga Lijing Sun Yu Liu Meiming Zhang Jingpeng Zhao Xiaojuan Wang Hongchao Jiao Okanlawon M.Onagbesan Hai Lin 2023Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2023,14,3:1
18Abnormal gonad development in Kit^(W-2Bao) mice caused by a Kit gene missense mutation显示文摘KitW-2Bao mice are single-gene autosomal dominant mutation mice with a B6 background that were bred in our laboratory. Heterozygotes had morphological characteristics including albinism of the abdomen, extremities, and tail, whereas the homozygotes had albinism of the body, black eyes, and infertility. The homozygous mutants showed small, structurally abnormal gonads, and lacked germ cells. Heterozygous male mice lacked germ cells in some contorted seminiferous tubules. This mutation has been mapped at 43.8 cM from the centromere in chromosome 5 by linkage analysis and Kit has been identified as the candidate gene. After Kit full-length mRNA amplification, it was found that a G to T conversion at position 1228 in the ORF changed the 410th amino acid from V to F. This amino acid change could affect the protein’s secondary structure. Heterozygous mutant mice were intercrossed and homozygous mutant mice were bred and genotyped. We found that no primordial germ cells (PGCs) appeared in the urogenital ridge area at fetus day 11.5 in the homozygotes. The number of PGCs also significantly decreased in heterozygotes. At fetus day 15.5, the differentiation of the testis tubule structure was unclear; as well, they contained no spermatogonia. Female homozygotes contained no primordial follicles in the ovary. The numbers of PGCs and primordial follicles were significantly decreased in heterozygous mice.
