1Effects of Xinfeng capsule on pulmonary function based on treg-mediated notch pathway in a rat model of adjuvant arthritis显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To observe the impact of xinfeng xapsule(XFC) on pulmonary function in a rat model of adjuvant arthritis(AA) and to investigate the mechanism of action.METHODS:Forty rats were randomly divided into four groups of ten:normal control(NC);model control(MC);tripterygium glycosides tablet(TPT);and xinfeng capsule(XFC).Except for the NC group,AA was induced in all rats by intracutaneous injection of 0.1 mL Freund's complete adjuvant in the right paw on the 19th day.NC and MC groups were given(0.9%) physiological saline.The TPT and XFC groups were given TPT(10 mg/kg) and XFC(1.2 g/kg),respectively.Thirty days after administration,changes in paw edema(E),the arthritis index(AI),pulmonary function,levels of regulatory T-cells(Treg),ultrastructure of lung tissue,and expression of Notch receptors and ligands in lung tissue were observed.RESULTS:In the MC group,E and the AI were increased and pulmonary function significantly decreased;the structure of alveolar type-II cells was damaged;ratios of Treg in peripheral blood were reduced;and expression of Notch receptors such as Notch3 and Notch4 and ligands such as Delta1 in lung tissue were significantly increased whereas expression of Notch1,Jagged1 and Jagged2 were significantly decreased.After intervention with XFC,E and the AI were decreased;pulmonary function was enhanced;the structure of alveolar type-II cells was improved;and expression of Treg,Notch1,Jagged1,Jagged2 was elevated,whereas that of Notch3,Notch4 and Delta1 was reduced.CONCLUSION:XFC can not only inhibit E and the AI and improve joint symptoms,it can also improve pulmonary function and reduce inflammation in lung tissue.These actions could be carried out through increases in the expression of Treg,Notch receptors(Notch1) and ligands(Jagged1,Jagged2),and reductions in the expression of Notch3,Notch4 and Delta1.These phenomena would reduce the deposition of immune complexes and the inflammatory response in lung tissue,thereby improving joint symptoms and pulmonary function.Lei Wan Jian Liu Chuanbing Huang Yuan Wang Xi Shen Wandong Zhang Guizheng Wang Haixia Fan Yao Ge Ruilian Chen Yunxiang Cao Ruikai Zong Li Lei 2012Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2012,32,3:17
2Use of Xinfeng capsule to treat abarticular pathologic changes in patients with rheumatoid arthritis显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To observe the influence of Xinfengcapsule(XFC) on abarticular pathologic changes(APCs) and other indices of patients with rheumatoid arthritis(RA) and explore the mechanism of action of XFC in improving such changes.METHODS: Three-hundred RA patients were divided randomly into a treatment group(n=150) and control group(n=150). A normal control(NC)group(n=90) was also created. Changes in cardiac function, pulmonary function, anemia indices and platelet parameters of RA patients were measured.Curative effects of the two groups were compared,and comparison carried out with the NC group.RESULTS: In 300 RA patients, late diastolic peak flow velocity(A peak) was much higher(P<0.01)and early diastolic peak flow velocity(E peak), E/A,and left ventricular fraction shortening much lower(P<0.01) than those in the NC group. Vital capacity(VC), forced vital capacity in one second, forced vital capacity(FVC), maximal voluntary ventilation(MVV), maximal expiratory flow in 50% of VC(FEF50) and FEF75 were lowered remarkably(P<0.05 or P<0.01). Platelet count(PLT), plateletcrit(PCT) and mean platelet volume(MPV) increased markedly(P<0.05 or P<0.01), and hemoglobin(Hb)level decreased significantly(P<0.05). After XFC treatment, the A peak and PLT and PCT were much lower(P<0.05), and E/A and the number of red blood cells as well as Hb level were much higher(P<0.05), as were FVC, MVV and FEF50(P<0.05 or P<0.01), in the treatment group than those in the NC group. Total score of pain and swelling in joints,uric-acid level and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein level were much lower, and superoxide dismutase level as well as the number of CD4 +CD25+ regulation T cells(Treg) and CD4+CD25+CD127- Treg were much higher(P<0.05 or P<0.01)in the treatment group than those in the NC group.CONCLUSION: RA patients with pathologic changes in joints also suffer from lower cardiac and pulmonary functions and from parameters of anemia and platelet factors. XFC can improve the symptoms of RA patients, ameliorate their cardiac and pulmonary functions and reduce the parameters of anemia and platelet factors. 3Evaluation of Two Momentum Control Variable Schemes and Their Impact on the Variational Assimilation of Radar Wind Data:Case Study of a Squall Line显示文摘Different choices of control variables in variational assimilation can bring about different influences on the analyzed atmospheric state.Based on the WRF model's three-dimensional variational assimilation system,this study compares the behavior of two momentum control variable options—streamfunction velocity potential(ψ–χ) and horizontal wind components(U–V)—in radar wind data assimilation for a squall line case that occurred in Jiangsu Province on 24 August 2014.The wind increment from the single observation test shows that the ψ–χ control variable scheme produces negative increments in the neighborhood around the observation point because streamfunction and velocity potential preserve integrals of velocity.On the contrary,the U–V control variable scheme objectively reflects the information of the observation itself.Furthermore,radial velocity data from 17 Doppler radars in eastern China are assimilated.As compared to the impact of conventional observation,the assimilation of radar radial velocity based on the U–V control variable scheme significantly improves the mesoscale dynamic field in the initial condition.The enhanced low-level jet stream,water vapor convergence and low-level wind shear result in better squall line forecasting.However,the ψ–χ control variable scheme generates a discontinuous wind field and unrealistic convergence/divergence in the analyzed field,which lead to a degraded precipitation forecast.Xin LI Mingjian ZENG Yuan WANG Wenlan WANG Haiying WU Haixia MEI 2016Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2016,33,10:10

5The long rather than the short allele of 5-HTTLPR predisposes Han Chinese to anxiety and reduced connectivity between prefrontal cortex and amygdala显示文摘The short allele of the serotonin-transporter gene is associated with higher risk for anxiety and depression in Caucasians, but this association is still unclear in Asians. Here, we addressed this issue using behavioral and multi-modal MRI approaches in a large group of healthy Han Chinese participants (n = 233). In contrast to findings in Caucasians, we found that long-allele (L) carriers had higher anxiety scores. In another group (n = 64) experiencing significant levels of depression or anxiety, the L-allele frequency was also significantly higher. In healthy participants, L-carriers had reduced functional and anatomical connectivity between the amygdala and prefrontal cortex (PFC), which was correlated with anxiety or depression scores. Our findings demonstrated that in Chinese Han participants, in contrast to Caucasians, the L-allele confers vulnerability to anxiety or depression and weakens top-down emotional control between the PFC and amygdala. 6Arsenic trioxide alleviates acute graft-versus-host disease by modulating macrophage polarization显示文摘This study aimed to explore macrophage polarization in acute graft-versus-host disease after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, and investigated if arsenic trioxide(ATO) could correct this imbalance. In the colon of GVHD mice, we found that the number of F4/80+iNOS+ cells as well as the expression intensity of TNF-α and IL-1β was greater in the GVHD group than in the BM group, whereas the number of F4/80+CD206+ cells and the expression intensity of IL-10 and TGF-β was greater in the BM group than in the GVHD group. We investigated the effect of ATO on GVHD mice, and found that ATO treatment clearly improved the survival of the mice and reduced the severity of GVHD. In addition, ATO reduced the number of F4/80+iNOS+ cells, and increased the number of F4/80+CD206+ cells in the colon of GVHD mice. Furthermore, ATO sharply decreased CD86 and CD80 expression, and increased CD163 and CD206 expression in macrophages induced from aGVHD patients. Therefore,ATO can modulate the M1 and M2 phenotype in GVHD mice or in macrophages from aGVHD patients. 7Photocatalytic degradation of 4-tert-octylphenol in a spiral photoreactor system显示文摘A spiral photoreactor system(SPS) was developed for the degradation of 4-tert-octylphenol(4-t-OP) in aqueous phase.4-t-OP was previously considered as a endocrine disrupting compound frequently present in water.The direct photodegradation reaction caused by the SPS was found to accord with the characteristic of apparent first-order reaction with reaction rate constant k = 4.8 × 10-2 min-1.However,the direct photodegradation reaction could not make the 4-t-OP mineralized.The photodegradation efficiency increased from 88% to 91.2% in 45 min irradiation period after the internal surface of SPS was sintered with TiO2 thin film as catalyst.Catalyst concentration,number of catalyst coating layers and initial concentration of 4-t-OP were proven to be the factors affecting the photocatalytic degradation performance of the SPS on aqueous 4-t-OP.The degradation mechanism was investigated and the byproducts were analyzed using total organic carbon analyzer(TOC) and LC-MS.The possible chemical structures of the products were suggested.SPS with single layer of TiO2 prepared by sintering 13.6% of TiO2 precursor was proven to be more efficient than most of previous systems for removal of 4-t-OP from aqueous phase.28.3% of the 4-t-OP was mineralized in 45 min according to the decreased amount of TOC value.Yanlin Wu Haixia Yuan Xiaoxuan Jiang Guanran Wei Chunlei Li Wenbo Dong 2012Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,9:3
