| 6 | Intensification of the East Asian Monsoon in Southern China at about300-400 kaBP Inferred from Eolian Deposits in the Middle-lower Reaches of the Yangtze River显示文摘In the East Asian monsoon region,eolian deposits widely distributed in the middle-lower reaches of the Yantgze River are among the best materials available for studies on Quaternary climate change in the subtropical zone of Southern China.Typical eolian deposits in this region include upper Xiashu Loess(XL) and underlying Vermiculated Red Soil(VRS) layers.In this paper,chronological and paleoclimatic studies are conducted on an eolian deposit sequence near Jiujiang(JJ) city in northern Jiangxi province.A magnetostratigraphic study,combined with optically stimulated luminescence(OSL) dating,is conducted on the JJ section and provides further evidence that eolian deposits in the middle-lower reaches of the Yangtze River have been formed since the late Early Pleistocene,and that the boundary age between the XL and VRS layers is about 300-400 kaBP.In grain-size records of the JJ section,the median grain-size and content of the >30 μm size fraction increase sharply after 300-400 kaBP,representing an East Asian winter monsoon intensification event.Further pollen analysis reveals differing pollen assemblages before and after 300-400 kaBP:there is an evident increase in plants adapted to grow in a warm humid environment after 300-400 kaBP,implying an increase in precipitation caused by intensification of the East Asian summer monsoon.Global ice volume and uplift of the Tibet Plateau(TP) are regarded as crucial factors influencing variations of the East Asian monsoon on a long-term scale.The deep-sea δ^(18)O record,which reflects variations in global ice volume,shows no obvious change after 300-400 kaBP.Moreover,the influence of global ice volume changes on the East Asian summer and winter monsoons is inverse;the global ice volume increase(decrease) implies a strengthened(weakened) winter monsoon and weakened(strengthened) summer monsoon.We therefore interpret the coupled intensifications of the East Asian summer and winter monsoons at about 300-400 kaBP to the uplift of the TP in the Middle Pleistocene.This climate event is also documented in eolian deposits from the southern margin of the Chinese Loess Plateau(CLP) and from the desert-loess transitional belt.However,it is not recorded in the loess-paleosol sequences from the central part of the CLP,thereby indicating differing climate responses to TP uplift in different regions,which requires further study. | QI Lin QIAO Yansong LI Yuehui WANG Yan PENG Shasha HE Zexin YANG Shuaibin HAN Chao ZHANG Xujiao | 2017 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2017,91,3: | 3 |
| 7 | Mast cell deficiency exacerbates inflammatory bowel symptoms in interleukin-10-deficient mice显示文摘AIM: To test the role of mast cells in gut inflammation and colitis using interleukin(IL)-10-deficient mice as an experimental model.METHODS: Mast cell-deficient(KitW-sh/W-sh) mice were crossbred with IL-10-deficient mice to obtain double knockout(DKO) mice. The growth, mucosal damage and colitis status of DKO mice were compared with their IL-10-deficient littermates.RESULTS: DKO mice exhibited exacerbated colitis compared with their IL-10-deficient littermates, as shown by increased pathological score, higher myeloperoxidase content, enhanced Th1 type pro-inflammatory cytokines and inflammatory signaling, elevated oxidative stress, as well as pronounced goblet cell loss. In addition, deficiency in mast cells resulted in enhanced mucosal damage, increased gut permeability, and impaired epithelial tight junctions. Mast cell deficiency was also linked to systemic inflammation, as demonstrated by higher serum levels of tumor necrosis factor α and interferon γ in DKO mice than that in IL-10-deficient mice.CONCLUSION: Mast cell deficiency in IL-10-deficient mice resulted in systematic and gut inflammation, impaired gut barrier function, and severer Th1-mediated colitis when compared to mice with only IL-10-deficiency. This multidisciplinary fusion can achieve ultrawide bandwidth and ultrafast speed that were considered impossible in conventional chip-scale microwave/millimeterwave systems. Conventional microwave-to-photonic converters,based on resonant acousto-optic modulation,produce highly efficient modulation but sacrifice bandwidth and limit their applicability for most real-world microwave signal-processing applications. In this paper,we build highly efficient and wideband microwaveto-photonic modulators using the acousto-optic effect on suspended lithium niobate thin films. A wideband microwave signal is first piezoelectrically transduced using interdigitated electrodes into Lamb acoustic waves,which directly propagates across an optical waveguide and causes refractive index pertp urbation through the photoelastic effect. This approach is power-efficient,with phase shifts up to 0.0166 rad∕m W over a 45μm modulation length and with a bandwidth up to 140 MHz at a center frequency of 1.9 GHz. | 18 | Paleoearthquake Investigation along the Chenghai Fault Zone since~500 ka,Southeast Margin of the Tibetan Plateau显示文摘The Chenghai fault zone is located in the Sichuan–Yunnan rhombus block,which is surrounded by the Honghe River,Xianshuihe–Xiaojiang,and Jinsha River fault zones.As a mid-continental active fault,it is one of the most important seismogenic fractures in the southeast margin of the Tibetan Plateau.Geological seismic study is an important supplement to the historical seismic record;therefore,identification of paleoearthquake events in this region is of great significance to reveal the pattern and mechanism of earthquake development.In this study,detailed investigation has been carried out on the earthquake traces that formed in the Quaternary sediments in the Jinsha River section of the Chenghai fault zone,and samples for dating chronology testing were also collected.Many paleoearthquake traces were discovered in the field,including earthquake fissions,dammed lake sediments and landslides,earthquake-generated rock falls,seismic faults,and sand liquefaction veins.The collected samples were tested using optically stimulated luminescence,electron-spin resonance,and U-series methods.A total of 68 chronological samples were dated,combined with the results of field investigations,and 10 large paleoearthquake events were discovered in this region since 500 ka,which are at approximately 450,400,345,300,250,190,155,105,75,and 25 ka.Ten tectonic activity periods that produced multiple paleoearthquake events were identified since 500 ka.This study identifies paleoearthquake events in longer scales,larger spaces,and more extensive sediments,which provides new perspectives and new ideas for paleoearthquake research. | YANG Shuaibin QIAO Yansong WU Zhonghai ZHANG Xujiao QI Lin HE Zexin LIANG Ying | 2021 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2021,95,4: | 0 |

| 20 | AIDEDNet:anti-interference and detail enhancement dehazing network for real-world scenes显示文摘The haze phenomenon seriously interferes the image acquisition and reduces image quality.Due to many uncertain factors,dehazing is typically a challenge in image processing.The most existing deep learning-based dehazing approaches apply the atmospheric scattering model(ASM)or a similar physical model,which originally comes from traditional dehazing methods.However,the data set trained in deep learning does not match well this model for three reasons.Firstly,the atmospheric illumination in ASM is obtained from prior experience,which is not accurate for dehazing real-scene.Secondly,it is difficult to get the depth of outdoor scenes for ASM.Thirdly,the haze is a complex natural phenomenon,and it is difficult to find an accurate physical model and related parameters to describe this phenomenon.In this paper,we propose a black box method,in which the haze is considered an image quality problem without using any physical model such as ASM.Analytically,we propose a novel dehazing equation to combine two mechanisms:interference item and detail enhancement item.The interference item estimates the haze information for dehazing the image,and then the detail enhancement item can repair and enhance the details of the dehazed image.Based on the new equation,we design an antiinterference and detail enhancement dehazing network(AIDEDNet),which is dramatically different from existing dehazing networks in that our network is fed into the haze-free images for training.Specifically,we propose a new way to construct a haze patch on the flight of network training.The patch is randomly selected from the input images and the thickness of haze is also randomly set.Numerous experiment results show that AIDEDNet outperforms the state-of-the-art methods on both synthetic haze scenes and real-world haze scenes. | Jian ZHANG Fazhi HE Yansong DUAN Shizhen YANG | 2023 | Frontiers of Computer Science2023,17,2: | 0 |
