| 1 | Constrained large-eddy simulation and detached eddy simulation of flow past a commercial aircraft at 14 degrees angle of attack显示文摘With the development of computational power and numerical algorithms,computational fluid dynamics(CFD) has become an important strategy for the design of aircraft,which significantly reduces the reliance on wind-tunnel and flight tests.In this paper,we conducted a numerical investigation on the flow past a full commercial aircraft at Mach number 0.2 and 14 degrees angle of attack by means of Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes(RANS),detached-eddy simulation(DES) and our newly developed constrained large-eddy simulation(CLES).The objective of this paper is to study the capability of these models in simulating turbulent flows.To our knowledge,this is the first large-eddy simulation method for full commercial aircraft simulation.The results show that the CLES can predict the mean statistical quantities well,qualitatively consistent with traditional methods,and can capture more small-scale structures near the surface of the aircraft with massive separations.Our study demonstrates that CLES is a promising alternative for simulating real engineering turbulent flows. | CHEN ShiYi CHEN YingChun XIA ZhenHua QU Kun SHI YiPeng XIAO ZuoLi LIU QiuHong CAI QingDong LIU Feng LEE Cunbiao ZHANG RiKui CAI JinSheng | 2013 | Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2013,56,2: | 14 |
| 2 | Hypoxia-induced factor-1 alpha upregulates vascular endothelial growth factor C to promote lymphangiogenesis and angiogenesis in breast cancer patients显示文摘Hypoxia-induced factor-1 alpha(HIF-1α)affects many effector molecules and regulates tumor lymphangiogenesis and angiogenesis during hypoxia.The aim of this study was to investigate the role of HIF-1αin the regulation of vascular endothelial growth factor C(VEGF-C)expression and its effect on lymphangiogenesis and angiogenesis in breast cancer.Lymphatic vessel density(LVD),microvessel density(MVD)and the expressions of HIF-1αand VEGF-C proteins were evaluated by immunohistochemistry in 75 breast cancer samples.There was a significant correlation between HIF-1αand VEGF-C(P=0.014,r=0.273,Spearman's coefficient of correlation).HIF-1αand VEGF-C overexpression was significantly correlated with higher LVD(P=0.003 and P=0.017,respectively),regional lymph nodal involvement(P=0.002 and P=0.004,respectively)and advanced tumor,node,metastasis(TNM)classification(P=0.001 and P=0.01,respectively).Higher MVD was observed in the group expressing higher levels of HIF-1αand VEGF-C(P=0.033 and P=0.037,respectively).Univariate analysis showed shorter survival time in patients expressing higher levels of HIF-1αand VEGF-C.HIF-1αwas also found to be an independent prognostic factor of overall survival in multivariate analysis.The results suggest that HIF-1αmay affect VEGF-C expression,thus acting as a crucial regulator of lymphangiogenesis and angiogenesis in breast cancer.This study highlights promising potential of HIF-1αas a therapeutic target against tumor lymph node metastasis. | Xiaojian Ni Yingchun Zhao Jingjing Ma Tiansong Xia Xiaoan Liu Qiang Ding Xiaoming Zha Shui Wang | 2013 | The Journal of Biomedical Research2013,27,6: | 10 |
| 3 | A Model Output Machine Learning Method for Grid Temperature Forecasts in the Beijing Area显示文摘In this paper, the model output machine learning (MOML) method is proposed for simulating weather consultation, which can improve the forecast results of numerical weather prediction (NWP). During weather consultation, the forecasters obtain the final results by combining the observations with the NWP results and giving opinions based on their experience. It is obvious that using a suitable post-processing algorithm for simulating weather consultation is an interesting and important topic. MOML is a post-processing method based on machine learning, which matches NWP forecasts against observations through a regression function. By adopting different feature engineering of datasets and training periods, the observational and model data can be processed into the corresponding training set and test set. The MOML regression function uses an existing machine learning algorithm with the processed dataset to revise the output of NWP models combined with the observations, so as to improve the results of weather forecasts. To test the new approach for grid temperature forecasts, the 2-m surface air temperature in the Beijing area from the ECMWF model is used. MOML with different feature engineering is compared against the ECMWF model and modified model output statistics (MOS) method. MOML shows a better numerical performance than the ECMWF model and MOS, especially for winter. The results of MOML with a linear algorithm, running training period, and dataset using spatial interpolation ideas, are better than others when the forecast time is within a few days. | 6 | A thermoresponsive composite separator loaded with paraffin@SiO_(2) microparticles for safe and stable lithium batteries显示文摘Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs)-related accidents have been reported for years and safety issues are stumbling blocks for the practical applications of lithium metal batteries (LMBs) with higher energy density. More effective strategies to shut down the battery at the early stage of thermal runaway with less side effects on the electrochemical performance are greatly desired. In this work, the core–shell structural paraffin@SiO_(2) microparticles were synthesized by in situ emulsion interfacial hydrolysis and polycondensation and the paraffin@SiO_(2)-loaded separator (PSS) was prepared by a facile filtration method. The introduction of hydrophilic silica shells in paraffin@SiO_(2) enhanced the wettability of carbonate electrolyte with the composite separator and improved the processability of soft paraffin. As a result, when used in LMBs at room temperature, the cell with PSS inside had a more uniform deposition of lithium, a much lower overpotential and a more stable electrochemical performance than the cell with the blank separator or the conventional pure paraffin-loaded separator inside. More significantly, when a heating stimulation (i.e. 115 ℃) was subjected to the cell with PSS inside, the paraffin in the core of paraffin@SiO_(2) could be released, blocking the gaps between particles and the pores in the separator and efficiently stopping the transportation of Li+ between two electrodes, resulting in the thermally-induced shutdown of the cell below the melting temperature of PE (~135 ℃) in the Celgard2325 separator. The core–shell structure of paraffin@SiO_(2) enables the maintaining of each component’s benefits while avoiding each one’s drawbacks by elaborating microstructural design. | 7 | Speech interaction with a rat显示文摘This paper presents the first report of a system of human's speech interaction with rats via integration of brain–machine interfaces and automatic speech recognition technologies. We propose a novel human–rat speech interaction paradigm by incorporating speech translator module, which translates human's speech commands into suitable electrical brain stimulation to steer the rat to induce expected locomotor behaviors. The preliminary results show that we can guide a rat's movement by speech commands. We further look into the future application scenarios together with forthcoming challenges facing this newly evolved cyborg intelligent system. | 8 | Regulating the growth of lithium dendrite by coating an ultra-thin layer of gold on separator for improving the fast-charging ability of graphite anode显示文摘With the ever-growing application of lithium-ion batteries(LIBs), their fast-charging technology has attracted great interests of scientists. However, growth of lithium dendrites during fast charge of the bat teries with high energy density may pose great threats to the operation and cause serious safety issues Herein, we prepared a functional separator with an ultra-thin(20 nm) layer of Au nanoparticles deposited by evaporation coating method which could regulate growth direction and morphology of the lithium dendrites, owing to nearly zero overpotential of lithium meal nucleation on lithiated Au. Once the Li den drites are about to form on the graphite anode during fast charging(or lithiation), they plate predomi nantly on the Au deposited separator rather than on the graphite. Such selective deposition does no compromise the electrochemical performance of batteries under normal cycling. More importantly, i enables the better cycling stability of batteries at fast charge condition. The Li/Graphite cells with Au nanoparticles coated separator could cycle stably with a high areal capacity retention of 90.5% over 95 cycles at the current density of 0.72 m A cm^(-2).
