1Simulation of dam breach development for emergency treatment of the Tangjiashan Quake Lake in China显示文摘The Tangjiashan Quake Lake is the largest quake lake triggered by the 5.12 Wenchuan Earthquake that happened on May 12,2008 in China,posing high risk of catastrophic flash flood hazards to downstream human life and properties.A physics-based numerical simulation approach is proposed for real-time prediction of dam breach development of the Tangjiashan Quake Lake in the case of emergency treatment.Bed erosion and lateral development of the dam breach are represented through accounting for the underlying physics including selective sediment transport and gravitational collapse.Conceptualized breach erosion model that involves few parameters enables quick calibration based on the monitored hydrological data in emergency analysis where fully geotechnical information about the barrier dam is not available.The process of dam breach development is found to be nonlinear in cascades due to the combined effects of headcutting and bank collapse.The agreement between the simulation results and the observed data shows the applicability of the present approach for emergency analysis of quake lakes.Limitations will arise in the situation where the soil composition of barrier dam is significantly inhomogeneous.Incorporation of circular arc failure for cohesive soil and lateral seepage in bank slope will also enhance its applicability to complex situations.WANG GuangQian,LIU Fan,FU XuDong & LI TieJian State Key Laboratory of Hydroscience and Engineering,Tsinghua University,Beijing 100084,China 2008Science China(Technological Sciences)2008,51,S2:25

3Smart Manufacturing and Intelligent Manufacturing:A Comparative Review显示文摘The application of intelligence to manufacturing has emerged as a compelling topic for researchers and industries around the world.However,different terminologies,namely smart manufacturing(SM)and intelligent manufacturing(IM),have been applied to what may be broadly characterized as a similar paradigm by some researchers and practitioners.While SM and IM are similar,they are not identical.From an evolutionary perspective,there has been little consideration on whether the definition,thought,connotation,and technical development of the concepts of SM or IM are consistent in the literature.To address this gap,the work performs a qualitative and quantitative investigation of research literature to systematically compare inherent differences of SM and IM and clarify the relationship between SM and IM.A bibliometric analysis of publication sources,annual publication numbers,keyword frequency,and top regions of research and development establishes the scope and trends of the currently presented research.Critical topics discussed include origin,definitions,evolutionary path,and key technologies of SM and IM.The implementation architecture,standards,and national focus are also discussed.In this work,a basis to understand SM and IM is provided,which is increasingly important because the trend to merge both terminologies rises in Industry 4.0 as intelligence is being rapidly applied to modern manufacturing and human–cyber–physical systems.Baicun Wang Fei Tao Xudong Fang Chao Liu Yufei Liu Theodor Freiheit 2021Engineering2021,7,6:22

5Stereotactic aspiration for hypertensive intracerebral haemorrhage in a Chinese population:a retrospective cohort study显示文摘Objective We aimed to compare the therapeutic effects of stereotactic aspiration and best medical management in patients who developed supratentorial hypertensive intracerebral haemorrhage(HICH)with a volume of haemorrhage between 20 and 40 mL.Methods The clinical data of 220 patients with supratentorial HICH with a volume between 20 and 40 mL were retrospectively analysed.Among them,142 received stereotactic aspiration surgery(stereotactic aspiration group)and 78 received best medical management(conservative group).All were followed up for 6 months.Multivariate logistic regression and Kaplan-Meier survival curves were used to compare the outcome between the two groups.results The rebleeding rate was lower in the group that had stereotactic aspiration when compared with the group with medical treatment(6[4.2%]vs 9[11.5%],χ2=4.364,p=0.037).After 6 months,although the mortality rate did not differ significantly between the two groups(8 cases[5.6%]vs 10 cases[12.8%],χ2=3.461,p=0.063),the rate of a favourable outcome was higher in the group who received stereotactic aspiration(χ2=15.870,p=0.000).Logistic regression identified that medical treatment(OR=1.64,p=0.000)was an independent risk factor for an unfavourable outcome.The Kaplan-Meier curves indicated that the median favourable outcome time in the stereotactic aspiration group was 59.5 days compared with that in the medically treated group(87.0 days).The log-rank test indicated that the prognosis at 6 months was better for those treated with stereotactic haematoma aspiration(χ2=29.866,p=0.000).However,the 6-month survival rate was similar between the two groups(χ2=3.253,p=0.068).Conclusions Stereotactic haematoma aspiration significantly improved the quality of life,although did not effectively reduce the rate of mortality.When selected appropriately,patients with HICH may benefit from this type of surgical intervention.Xuyang Zhang Shaolong Zhou Qiang Zhang Xudong Fu Yuehui Wu Jiasheng Liu Bo Liang Zhuo Yang Xinjun Wang 2019Stroke & Vascular Neurology2019,4,1:19
6Collagen type Ⅱ suppresses articular chondrocyte hypertrophy and osteoarthritis progression by promoting integrin β1-SMAD1 interaction显示文摘Hypertrophic differentiation is not only the terminal process of endochondral ossification in the growth plate but is also an important pathological change in osteoarthritic cartilage.Collagen type II(COL2A1)was previously considered to be only a structural component of the cartilage matrix,but recently,it has been revealed to be an extracellular signaling molecule that can significantly suppress chondrocyte hypertrophy.However,the mechanisms by which COL2A1 regulates hypertrophic differentiation remain unclear.In our study,a Col2a1 p.Gly1170Ser mutant mouse model was constructed,and Col2a1 loss was demonstrated in homozygotes.Loss of Col2a1 was found to accelerate chondrocyte hypertrophy through the bone morphogenetic protein(BMP)-SMAD1 pathway.Upon interacting with COL2A1,integrinβ1(ITGB1),the major receptor for COL2A1,competed with BMP receptors for binding to SMAD1 and then inhibited SMAD1 activation and nuclear import.COL2A1 could also activate ITGB1-induced ERK1/2 phosphorylation and,through ERK1/2-SMAD1 interaction,it further repressed SMAD1 activation,thus inhibiting BMP-SMAD1-mediated chondrocyte hypertrophy.Moreover,COL2A1 expression was downregulated,while chondrocyte hypertrophic markers and BMP-SMAD1 signaling activity were upregulated in degenerative human articular cartilage.Our study reveals novel mechanisms for the inhibition of chondrocyte hypertrophy by COL2A1 and suggests that the degradation and decrease in COL2A1 might initiate and promote osteoarthritis progression.Chengjie Lian Xudong Wang Xianjian Qiu Zizhao Wu Bo Gao Lei Liu Guoyan Liang Hang Zhou Xiaoming Yang Yan Peng Anjing Liang Caixia Xu Dongsheng Huang Peiqiang Su 2019Bone Research2019,7,1:17

8Application of thyristor controlled phase shifting transformer excitation impedance switching control to suppress short-circuit fault current level显示文摘Short-circuit fault current suppression is a very important issue in modern large-interconnected power networks. Conventional short-circuit current limiters, such as superconducting fault current limiters, have to increase additional equipment investments. Fast power electronics controlled flexible AC transmission system(FACTS)devices have opened a new way for suppressing the fault current levels, while maintaining their normal functionalities for steady-state and transient power system operation and control. Thyristor controlled phase shifting transformer(TCPST) is a beneficial FACTS device in modern power systems, which is capable of regulating regional powerflow. The mathematical model for TCPST under different operation modes is firstly investigated in this study. Intuitively, the phase shifting angle control can adjust the equivalent impedance of TCPST, but the effect has been demonstrated to be weak. Therefore, a novel transformer excitation impedance switching(EIS) control method, is proposed for fault current suppressing, according to the impedance characteristics of TCPST. Simulation results on IEEE 14-bus system have shown considerable current limiting characteristic of the EIS control under various fault types. 9Inner wrinkling control in hydrodynamic deep drawing of an irregular surface part using drawbeads显示文摘Inner wrinkling phenomenon is more likely to develop during hydrodynamic deep drawing(HDD) of complicated component-forms due to the higher demand for controlling deformation sequences. Aiming at the problems in control of inner wrinkling for an irregular surface part featured with both concavity and convex, this research proposes an optimal design method of drawbead parameters to change the material flow. According to theoretical analysis of the mechanism of inner wrinkling, optimizing cavity pressure only is unreasonable to form a wrinkle-free deep-drawn part,so semi-circular drawbeads are employed. The effects of layout and height of drawbeads on forming results are discussed, and a process window is established based on evaluation indicators including the anti-wrinkle coefficient and the minimum wall thickness. Experiments are carried out to validate the process window, and the wall thickness and the wrinkle height are measured and compared with numerical findings. 15Using borehole core analysis to reveal Late Quaternary paleoearthquakes along the Nankou-Sunhe Fault,Beijing显示文摘The Nankou-Sunhe Fault is a buried active normal fault that traverses the urban area of Beijing.Its seismic risks have caused considerable concerns.This paper studies paleoearthquakes along this fault by analyzing and correlating bore-hole cores obtained from triple-tube coring,incorporating experience acquired from trenching.As a result,a model for identifying earthquake-derived colluvium by sediment-core analysis is proposed.Triple-tube coring technique is useful to collect continuous undis-turbed soil core near the Nankou-Sunhe Fault.By identifying fault-scarp colluviums,determining cumulative displacement,and analysing stratum thickening on the hanging wall,we are able to establish a preliminary paleoearthquake sequence consisting of 13 surface-rupturing events since 60 ka.The seismic history can be divided into three periods based on different recurrence intervals.Between 60 and 40 ka,three earthquakes occurred with recurrence interval of ~10 ka.From 40 to 25 ka,there were six earthquakes with the recurrence interval of about 2.5 ka.In the last 25 ka,four earthquakes have taken place with the recurrence interval varying considerably.The recurrence interval between the last three events is ~5 ka.Smaller recurrence intervals correspond to stages of faster fault slip.The coseismic displacement of a single event is 0.8 to 2.2 m,average 1.4 m,largely equivalent to moment magnitudes 6.7-7.1.This study demonstrates the feasibility of bore-hole drilling in investigating paleoearthquakes along normal faults.It also suggests that closely spaced boreholes with continuous undisturbed cores are essential for reconstructing the complete paleoearthquake sequence.ZHANG ShiMin WANG DanDan LIU XuDong ZHANG GuoHong ZHAO JunXiang LUO MingHui REN JunJie WANG Rui ZHANG YingLi 2008Science China Earth Sciences2008,51,8:11

19A comparative study of the osteogenic performance between the hierarchical micro/submicro-textured 3D-printed Ti6Al4V surface and the SLA surface显示文摘Three-dimensional(3D)printed titanium and its alloys have broad application prospect in the field of biomedical implant materials,although the biological performance of the original surface should be improved.Learning from the development experience of conventional titanium implants,to construct a hierarchical hybrid topological surface is the future direction of efforts.Since the original 3D-printed(3D hereafter)Ti6Al4V surface inherently has micron-scale features,in the present study,we introduced submicron-scale pits on the original surface by acid etching to obtain a hierarchical micro/submicro-textured surface.The characteristic and biological performance of the 3D-printed and acid-etched(3DA hereafter)surface were evaluated in vitro and in vivo,compared with the conventional sandblasted,large-grit,acid-etched(SLA hereafter)surface.Our results suggested the adhesion,proliferation and osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow derived mesenchymal stromal cells(BMSCs),as well as the in vivo osseointegration on 3DA surfaces were significantly improved.However,the overall osteogenic performance of the 3DA surface was not as good as the conventional SLA surface.Jinkai Zhanga Jiaqiang Liu Chengtao Wang Fengshan Chen Xudong Wang Kaili Lin 2020Bioactive Materials2020,5,1:8
20Effect of molecular weight of dissolved organic matter on toxicity and bioavailability of copper to lettuce显示文摘To clarify the effects of molecular weight of dissolved organic matter (DOM) on the toxicity and bioavailability of copper (Cu) to plants,DOM extracted from chicken manure was ultra-filtered into four fractions according to their molecular weights by means of sequential-stage ultrafiltration technique.Lettuce seeds were germinated by being exposed to the solutions containing Cu 2+ with or without different fractions of DOM.The concentration of copper in roots,leaves,sprouts and the length of roots were investigated.The results showed that not all fractions of DOM could improve copper availability or toxicity.The fraction of DOM with larger molecular weight more than 1 kDa had higher complexation stability with Cu 2+ and caused lower concentration of free Cu 2+ ion in the solution of copper plus the fraction,resulting in lower availability and toxicity of copper to lettuce,but the fraction with molecular weight less than 1 kDa had the opposite function.Therefore,the molecular weight of 1 kDa may be the division point to determine DOM to increase or decrease copper availability and toxicity.Xudong Wang,Xianni Chen,Shuai Liu,Xizu Ge College of Resource and Environment,Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University,Shaanxi 712100,China 2010Journal of Environmental Sciences2010,22,12:8
