1Focal adhesion protein Kindlin-2 regulates bone homeostasis in mice显示文摘Our recent studies demonstrate that the focal adhesion protein Kindlin-2 is critical for chondrogenesis and early skeletal development. Here, we show that deleting Kindlin-2 from osteoblasts using the 2.3-kb mouse Col1 a1-Cre transgene minimally impacts bone mass in mice, but deleting Kindlin-2 using the 10-kb mouse Dmp1-Cre transgene, which targets osteocytes and mature osteoblasts, results in striking osteopenia in mice. Kindlin-2 loss reduces the osteoblastic population but increases the osteoclastic and adipocytic populations in the bone microenvironment. Kindlin-2 loss upregulates sclerostin in osteocytes,downregulates β-catenin in osteoblasts, and inhibits osteoblast formation and differentiation in vitro and in vivo. Upregulation ofβ-catenin in the mutant cells reverses the osteopenia induced by Kindlin-2 deficiency. Kindlin-2 loss additionally increases the expression of RANKL in osteocytes and increases osteoclast formation and bone resorption. Kindlin-2 deletion in osteocytes promotes osteoclast formation in osteocyte/bone marrow monocyte cocultures, which is significantly blocked by an anti-RANKLneutralizing antibody. 3Climate Characteristics of Abnormal Double-Blocking Activities over the Ural Mountains and Sea of Okhotsk显示文摘By using NCEP–NCAR daily reanalysis data for June–August of 1948–2009, the synoptic situation of the doubleblocking high pressure process over the Ural Mountains–Sea of Okhotsk region was identified objectively, and the climatic characteristics and dynamic mechanism during the double blockings were also investigated. The results suggest that the Urals–Okhotsk double-blocking high experienced obviously an abrupt change around 1977. After the change, the occurrence frequency and number of sustained days of the blocking high reduced significantly.Moreover, the zonal spacing between the Urals blocking and the Okhotsk blocking also decreased, while their meridional locations did not change much. The double blockings became strengthened in general, and the blocking high over the Sea of Okhotsk extended northward evidently. However, during the process without double-blocking activities, the intensity and location of the double-blocking high showed no noticeable variation before and after the abrupt change. In addition, dynamic diagnosis shows that after the abrupt change, the energy of the double-blocking high mainly propagated vertically from low to high levels, and transferred horizontally from low to high latitudes; whereas, previously, before the abrupt change, this occurred from high to low latitudes. Meanwhile, the development of a low pressure system was fueled between the double blockings, which meant that the double-blocking activity was beneficial to the maintenance and development of the Northeast China cold vortex. 4LIM domain proteins Pinch1/2 regulate chondrogenesis and bone mass in mice显示文摘The LIM domain-containing proteins Pinch1/2 regulate integrin activation and cell–extracellular matrix interaction and adhesion.Here,we report that deleting Pinch1 in limb mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)and Pinch2 globally(double knockout;dKO)in mice causes severe chondrodysplasia,while single mutant mice do not display marked defects.Pinch deletion decreases chondrocyte proliferation,accelerates cell differentiation and disrupts column formation.Pinch loss drastically reduces Smad2/3 protein expression in proliferative zone(PZ)chondrocytes and increases Runx2 and Col10a1 expression in both PZ and hypertrophic zone(HZ)chondrocytes.Pinch loss increases sclerostin and Rankl expression in HZ chondrocytes,reduces bone formation,and increases bone resorption,leading to low bone mass.In vitro studies revealed that Pinch1 and Smad2/3 colocalize in the nuclei of chondrocytes.Through its C-terminal region,Pinch1 interacts with Smad2/3 proteins.Pinch loss increases Smad2/3 ubiquitination and degradation in primary bone marrow stromal cells(BMSCs).Pinch loss reduces TGF-β-induced Smad2/3 phosphorylation and nuclear localization in primary BMSCs.Interestingly,compared to those from single mutant mice,BMSCs from dKO mice express dramatically lower protein levels ofβ-catenin and Yap1/Taz and display reduced osteogenic but increased adipogenic differentiation capacity.Finally,ablating Pinch1 in chondrocytes and Pinch2 globally causes severe osteopenia with subtle limb shortening.Collectively,our findings demonstrate critical roles for Pinch1/2 and a functional redundancy of both factors in the control of chondrogenesis and bone mass through distinct mechanisms.Yiming Lei Xuekun Fu Pengyu Li Sixiong Lin Qinnan Yan Yumei Lai Xin Liu Yishu Wang Xiaochun Bai Chuanju Liu Di Chen Xuenong Zou Xu Cao Huiling Cao Guozhi Xiao 2020Bone Research2020,8,4:2
5Much enhanced electromagnetic wave absorbing properties from the synergistic effect of graphene/γ-graphyne heterostructure in both gigahertz and terahertz band ranges显示文摘Exploring advanced electromagnetic wave(EMW)absorbers is one of the most feasible ways to solve the increasing electromagnetic pollution in both military and civil fields.In this work,γ-graphyne(γ-GY)is synthesized by a mechanochemical route using CaC2 and hexabromobenzene(PhBr6).Then three-dimensional(3D)reduced graphene oxide/γ-GY(RGO/GY)heterostructures are prepared through facile solvothermal self-assembly and subsequent thermal reduction.The influences of calcination temperature and the content ofγ-GY of the composite on EMW absorption performance are fully investigated.The minimum reflection loss(RL)value of the RGO/GY composite foam is−71.73 dB at 10.48 GHz with the matching thickness of 3.54 mm,and the effective absorption bandwidth(EAB)less than−10 dB is 7.36 GHz.Moreover,excellent terahertz(THz)absorption property is also obtained at 0.2–1.6 THz.The RL of 84.08 dB is acquired,and the EAB covers 100%of the entire measured bandwidth.In addition,the composite is also a promising anticorrosive EMW absorber.This work provides encouraging findings,which are also instructive for the potential advantages of graphyne-based materials as highly efficient EMW absorbers in both gigahertz and terahertz band ranges.Zhiwei Zhang Zhuo Li Lun Xia Ruofeng Wang Yishu Cao Zheng Cheng Yi Huang 2023Nano Research2023,16,1:2
6Effect of Rapeseed Straw on Growth and Slaughter Performance of Sichuan White Goose显示文摘[Objective] The paper was to study the effects of rapeseed straw on growth and slaughter performance of Sichuan white goose.[Method]Totally 4003-day-old Sichuan white geese were randomly divided into four groups; geese in control group were fed with the fundamental diet; geese in group 1,group 2 and group 3 were fed with the fundamental diet containing 5%,10% and 10% rapeseed straw instead of equal amount of wheat bran,respectively.The body weight and slaughter performance of Sichuan white geese in control group,group 1 and group 2 were determined at 10 weeks of age,while those in group 3 were determined at14 weeks of age.[Result] There was no significant difference in gross weight,slaughter weight,eviscerated weight with giblet,head weight,sole weight,wing weight,neck weight,muscular stomach weight and intestine indexes of 10-week-old white geese between group 1 and control group,and between group 2 and control group( P > 0.05); the live weight slightly decreased.The growth and slaughter performance of 14-week-old Sichuan white geese were significantly higher than that of 10-week-old geese( P < 0.05),with better meat and flavor,but relatively low average daily gain( P < 0.05); there was no significant impact on muscular stomach p H and intestinal p H( P > 0.05).[Conclusion]Substituting partial wheat bran with rapeseed straw can satisfy the diet requirement of Sichuan white geese,but has no significant impact on its growth and slaughter performance( P > 0.05).Yang Ting Lei Zhengda Zhang Yishu Yu Zhiqiang Wang Dayi 2017Animal Husbandry and Feed Science2017,9,6:1

16Resilience of Wengding,the Phoenix Wa traditional village显示文摘The village of Wengding,ancestral home of the Wa ethnic group,considered as China’s last primitive tribe,suf-fered near-complete extinction due to a fire incident in 2021.Historical records indicate that stilt-style buildings,also in Wengding,are highly susceptible to fire.Nevertheless,this has not hindered the long-term existence of these distinctive architectural forms.This study analyses the reasons for the sustained existence of the traditional building forms in Wengding,from the perspective of resilience.The findings indicate that the requirements of the traditional nomadic civilization for rapid construction of dwellings,the communal consciousness toward dis-aster resistance,and the implementation of spatially oriented fire protection measures collectively account for the swift recovery and reconstruction observed in Wengding village after the disaster.These aspects are tangible manifestations of the capacity of the village for resilience.Overall,resilience is essential for the sustainability of such traditional villages in the long term.Yishu Wang Zhigang Song Qiaoge Yang 2023Geography and Sustainability2023,4,4:0

18Paleoenvironmental Characteristics of Paleogene Lacustrine Source Rocks in the Western Bozhong Sag,Bohai Bay Basin,China:Evidence from Biomarkers,Major and Trace Elements显示文摘The organic matter(OM)enrichment mechanisms and depositional environment characteristics of lacustrine source rocks in the western Bozhong Sag,Bohai Bay Basin in Northeast China remain controversial.To address these issues,based on Rock-Eval pyrolysis,kerogen macerals,H/C and O/C ratios,GC-MS,major and trace elements,the Dongying Formation Member(Mbr)3(E_(3)d_(3)),the Shahejie Formation mbrs 1 and 2(E_(2)s_(1+2)),and the Shahejie Mbr 3(E_(2)s_(3))source rocks in the western Bozhong Sag were studied.The above methods were used to reveal their geochemical properties,OM origins and depositional environments,all of which indicate that E_(2)s_(1+2)and E_(2)s_(3)are excellent source rocks,and that E_(3)d_(3)is of the second good quality.E_(3)d_(3)source rocks were formed under a warm and humid climate,mainly belong to fluvial/delta facies,the E_(3)d_(3)sediments formed under weakly oxidizing and freshwater conditions.Comparatively,the depositional environments of E_(2)s_(1+2)source rocks were arid and cold climate,representing saline or freshwater lacustrine facies,and the sediments of E_(2)s_(1+2)belong to anoxic or suboxic settings with large evaporation and salinity.During the period of E_(2)s_(3),the climate became warm and humid,indicating the freshwater lacustrine facies,and E_(2)s_(3)was characterized by freshwater and abundant algae.Moreover,compared with other intervals,the OM origin of E_(3)d_(3)source rocks has noticeable terrestrial input.The OM origin of the E_(2)s_(1+2)and E_(2)s_(3)are mainly plankton and bacteria.Tectonic subsidence and climate change have affected the changes of the depositional environment in the western Bozhong Sag,thus controlling the distribution of the source rocks,the geochemical characteristics in the three intervals of lacustrine source rocks have distinct differences.Overall,these factors are effective to evaluate the paleoenvironmental characteristics of source rocks by biomarkers,major and trace elements.The established models may have positive implications for research of lacustrine source rocks in offshore areas with few drillings.WANG Xiang LIU Guangdi SONG Zezhang SUN Mingliang WANG Xiaolin WANG Feilong CHEN Rongtao GENG Mingyang LI Yishu 2024Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2024,98,1:0
