| 2 | Analysis of in vivo patterns of caspase 3 gene expression in primary hepatocellular carcinoma and its relationship to p21^(WAF1) expression and hepatic apoptosis显示文摘AIM To detect the expression of caspase 3gene in primary human hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)and investigate its relationship to p21WAF1gene expression and HCC apoptosis.METHODS In situ hybridization was employedto determine caspase 3 and p21WAF1expression inHCC.In situ end-labeling was used to detecthepatocytic apoptosis in HCC.RESULTS Twenty-one of 39(53.8%)cases ofHCC were found to express caspase 3transcripts,while 45.2% of HCC failed toexpress caspase 3.Non-cancerous adjacent livertissues showed more positive caspase 3(87.5%,7/8)as compared with HCC(P<0.05).The expression of caspase 3 is correlated withHCC differentiation,72.2%(13/18)ofmoderately to highly differentiated HCC showedcaspase 3 transcripts positive,while only 38.1%of poorly differentiated HCC harbored caspase 3transcripts(P<0.05).No relationship wasfound between caspase 3 expression and tumorsize or grade or metastasis,although 52.5%(5/8)of HCC with metastasis were caspase 3positive and a little higher than that with nometastasis(51.6%,P>0.05).Expression of caspase 3 alone did not affect the apoptosisindex(AI)of HCC.The AI was 7.12%o in caspase3-positive tumors(n=21),while in caspase 3-negative cases(n=18)6.59%0(P>0.05).Expression of caspase 3 clearly segregated withp21WAF1positive tumors as compared withp21WAF1-negative cases(16 of 23,69.6% versus5 of 16,31.3%)with statistical significance(P=0.017).In the cases with positive caspase 3and negative p21WAF1,the Al was found slightlyhigher,but with no statistical significance,thanthat with expression of p21WAF1and caspase 3(7.21‰ vs 6.98‰,P>0.05).CONCLUSION Loss of caspase 3 expressionmay contribute to HCC carcinogenesis,althoughthe expression of caspase 3 does not correlatewell with cell apoptosis in HCC.p21WAF1may bemerely one of the inhibitors which can reducecaspase 3 mediated cell apoptosis in HCCs. | Bao Hua Sun Jun Zhang Bao JǜWang Xi Ping Zhao You Kun Wang Zhi Qun Yu Dong Liang Yang Lian Jie Hao Department of Clinical Immunology,Tongji Hospital,Tongji Medical University,Wuhan 430030,Hubei Province,China | 2000 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2000,6,3: | 65 |
| 3 | 2018 Chinese Pediatric Cardiology Society(CPCS) guideline for diagnosis and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents显示文摘Syncope belongs to the transient loss of consciousness(TLOC), characterized by a rapid onset, short duration, and spontaneous complete recovery. It is common in children and adolescents, accounting for 1% to 2% of emergency department visits.Recurrent syncope can seriously affect children's physical and mental health, learning ability and quality of life and sometimes cardiac syncope even poses a risk of sudden death. The present guideline for the diagnosis and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents was developed for guiding a better clinical management of pediatric syncope. Based on the globally recent development and the evidence-based data in China, 2018 Chinese Pediatric Cardiology Society(CPCS) guideline for diagnosis and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents was jointly prepared by the Pediatric Cardiology Society, Chinese Pediatric Society, Chinese Medical Association(CMA)/Committee on Pediatric Syncope, Pediatricians Branch, Chinese Medical Doctor Association(CMDA)/Committee on Pediatric Cardiology, Chinese College of Cardiovascular Physicians, Chinese Medical Doctor Association(CMDA)/Pediatric Cardiology Society, Beijing Pediatric Society, Beijing Medical Association(BMA). | 8 | Feasibility and safety of sorafenib treatment in hepatocellular carcinoma patients with spontaneous rupture显示文摘AIM:To report the outcome of patients with ruptured hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)treated at a single center during a 5-year period.METHODS:We retrospectively analyzed 32 patients who presented with ruptured HCC at Shandong Provincial Hospital Affiliated to Shandong University between2008 and 2013.RESULTS:The mean age of the patients was 53 years(range 39-71 years).Of these patients,22 received surgical management,10 underwent transarterial embolization(TAE)or transarterial chemoembolization(TACE),and 12 received sorafenib after surgery,TAE or TACE.Cumulative survival rates at 4,8 and 12 mo were72.9%,50.0%and 33.3%,respectively,in the surgery only group and were 90.0%,80.6%and 64.1%,respectively,in the surgery plus sorafenib group.Cumulative survival rates at 4,8 and 12 mo were 68.4%,43.6%and 19.4%,respectively,in the surgery only or TAE/TACE only groups,and were 91.7%,75.0%and 60.2%,respectively,in the sorafenib combination groups(P=0.04).No unexpected side effects due to sorafenib were observed.The most common side effect was hand-foot skin reaction.To date,5 patients have died.Median follow-up from the start of sorafenib therapy for the remaining 7 patients is 12.7 mo(range5.8-32.2 mo).CONCLUSION:Sorafenib can be used in patients with ruptured HCC as it has interesting activity and is well tolerated;dose adjustment is generally not required.However,a larger prospective study is necessary to determine the efficacy of sorafenib in this group of patients. | Shun-Zhen Zheng De-Jie Liu Ping Sun Guang-Sheng Yu Yan-Tian Xu Wei Gong Jun Liu | 2014 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,43: | 8 |
| 9 | Association of Overlapped and Un-overlapped Comorbidities with COVID-19 Severity and Treatment Outcomes: A Retrospective Cohort Study from Nine Provinces in China显示文摘Objective Several COVID-19 patients have overlapping comorbidities. The independent role of each component contributing to the risk of COVID-19 is unknown, and how some non-cardiometabolic comorbidities affect the risk of COVID-19 remains unclear.Methods A retrospective follow-up design was adopted. A total of 1,160 laboratory-confirmed patients were enrolled from nine provinces in China. Data on comorbidities were obtained from the patients’ medical records. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to estimate the odds ratio(OR) and 95% confidence interval(95% CI) of the associations between comorbidities(cardiometabolic or non-cardiometabolic diseases), clinical severity, and treatment outcomes of COVID-19.Results Overall, 158(13.6%) patients were diagnosed with severe illness and 32(2.7%) had unfavorable outcomes. Hypertension(2.87, 1.30–6.32), type 2 diabetes(T2 DM)(3.57, 2.32–5.49),cardiovascular disease(CVD)(3.78, 1.81–7.89), fatty liver disease(7.53, 1.96–28.96), hyperlipidemia(2.15, 1.26–3.67), other lung diseases(6.00, 3.01–11.96), and electrolyte imbalance(10.40, 3.00–26.10)were independently linked to increased odds of being severely ill. T2 DM(6.07, 2.89–12.75), CVD(8.47,6.03–11.89), and electrolyte imbalance(19.44, 11.47–32.96) were also strong predictors of unfavorable outcomes. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease on admission(5.46,3.25–9.19), while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes(6.58, 1.46–29.64) within two weeks.Conclusion Besides hypertension, diabetes, and CVD, fatty liver disease, hyperlipidemia, other lung diseases, and electrolyte imbalance were independent risk factors for COVID-19 severity and poor treatment outcome. | 10 | Leafy head formation of the progenies of transgenic plants of Chinese cabbage with exogenous auxin genes显示文摘The experiment was performed to evaluate the progenies of plant lines transgenic for auxin synthesis genes derived from Ri T-DNA. Four lines of the transgenic plants were selfcrossed and the foreign auxin genes in plants of T5 generation were confirmed by Southern hybridization. Two lines, D1232 and D1653, showed earlier folding of expanding leaves than untransformed line and therefore had early initiation of leaf y head. Leaf cuttings derived from plant of transgenic line D1653 produced more adventitious roots than the control whereas the cuttings from folding leaves had much more roots than rosette leaves at folding stage, and the cuttings from head leaves had more roots than rosette leaves at heading stage. It is demonstrated that early folding of transgenic leaf may be caused by the relatively higher concentration of auxin. A fuzzy path planning algorithm is investigated and a realtime desired motion path of obstacle avoidance is obtained. The angular velocity is constrained by the controller, so the planned path guarantees the safety of users. | 13 | A draft sequence of the rice (Oryza sativa ssp. indica) genome显示文摘The sequence of the rice genome holds fundamental information for its biology, including physiology, genetics, development, and evolution, as well as information on many beneficial phenotypes of economic significance. Using a 'whole genome shotgun' approach, we have pro-duced a draft rice genome sequence of Oryza sativa ssp. in-dica, the major crop rice subspecies in China and many other regions of Asia. The draft genome sequence is constructed from over 4.3 million successful sequencing traces with an accumulative total length of 2214.9 Mb. The initial assembly of the non-redundant sequences reached 409.76 Mb in length, based on 3.30 million successful sequencing traces with a total length of 1797.4 Mb from an indica variant cultivar 93-11, giving an estimated coverage of 95.29% of the rice genome with an average base accuracy of higher than 99%. | 14 | Epidemiology of urticaria in China:a population-based study显示文摘Background:Urticaria is a common skin disease characterized by episodes of wheals,and it has a negative effect on patients’quality of life.Large-scale population-based epidemiological studies of urticaria are scarce in China.The aim of this survey was to determine the prevalence,clinical forms,and risk factors of urticaria in the Chinese population.Methods:This survey was conducted in 35 cities from 31 provinces,autonomous regions,and municipalities of China.Two to three communities in each city were selected in this investigation.Participants completed questionnaires and received dermatological examinations.We analyzed the prevalence,clinical forms,and risk factors of urticaria.Results:In total,44,875 questionnaires were distributed and 41,041 valid questionnaires were collected(17,563 male and 23,478 female participants).The lifetime prevalence of urticaria was 7.30%,with 8.26%in female and 6.34%in male individuals(P<0.05).The point prevalence of urticaria was 0.75%,with 0.79%in female and 0.71%in male individuals(P<0.05).Concomitant angioedema was found in 6.16%of patients.Adults had a higher prevalence of urticaria than adolescents and children.Living in urban areas,exposure to pollutants,an anxious or depressed psychological status,a personal and family history of allergy,thyroid diseases,and Helicobacter pylori infection were associated with a higher prevalence of urticaria.Smoking was correlated with a reduced risk of urticaria.Conclusion:This study demonstrated that the lifetime prevalence of urticaria was 7.30%and the point prevalence was 0.75%in the Chinese population;women had a higher prevalence of urticaria than men.Various factors were correlated with urticaria. | Jiaqing Li Dandan Mao Shuoshuo Liu Ping Liu Jing Tian Chenhong Xue Xiaojing Liu Ruiqun Qi Bingxue Bai Jianjun Nie Siqi Ye Yu Wang Yuye Li Qing Sun Juan Tao Shuping Guo Hong Fang Jianqin Wang Qiri Mu Quanzhong Liu Yan Ding Jianzhong Zhang | 2022 | Chinese Medical Journal2022,,11: | 6 |

| 17 | Elevated Platelet Activating Factor Level in Ischemia-Related Arrhythmia and Its Electrophysiological Effect on Myocardium显示文摘Objective The mechanism through which platelet activating factor (PAF) induces cardiac electrical activity and arrhythmia is not well understood and previous studies have suggested a potential involvement of ion channels in its action. The present study was aimed to clarify the role of PAF in fatal arrhythmias following acute myocardia infarction (AMI) and the underlying mechanism. Methods (1) Blood PAF levels were measured among 72 AMI patients at the time of diagnosis with AMI and 48 h later, and their electrocardiogram (ECG) was recorded continuously. (2) Ischemia simulation and surface electrocardiogram were conducted in 20 pigs and their PAF levels were measured. (3) PAF perfusion and standard microelectrode recording were performed on guinea pig papillarymuscles. Results In both humans and pigs, elevated PAF levels were detected in AMI and simulated ischemia, respectively, and even higher PAF levels were found when fatal arrhythmias occurred. In guinea pig myocardium, PAF induced a shortening of action potential duration at 90% level of repolarization (APD 90 )under non-ischemic conditions and a more pronounced shortening under early simulated ischemic conditions. Conclusion AMI and ischemia are associated with increased PAF levels in humans and pigs, which are further raised when fatal arrhythmia follows. | 18 | Role and mechanism of circ-PRKCI in hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘BACKGROUND The circular RNA circ-PRKCI is an endogenous non-coding RNA that forms a covalently closed ring after reverse splicing, which plays a key role in the occurrence and development of multiple digestive system tumors.AIM To investigate the role and mechanism of circ-PRKCI in the occurrence and development of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).METHODS This study used real-time polymerase chain reaction to detect the expression of circ-PRKCI in tumor tissues, tumor adjacent tissues, and blood in patients with HCC and other digestive system tumor cells. A series of functional tests were performed to explore whether circ-PRKCI affects the growth of HCC cells and what is its mechanism in HCC. Meanwhile, fluorescence in situ hybridization was used to detect the subcellular localization of circ-PRKCI. Survival analysis was performed to predict the correlation between circ-PRKCI and the prognosis of HCC. Chi-square test and t-test were performed for statistical analyses.RESULTS The level of circ-PRKCI was significantly higher in HCC tissues than in tumor adjacent tissues, and in HCC cell lines than in cells lines of esophageal, liver,stomach, and colon cancers. A series of functional tests showed that circ-PRKCI substantially inhibited cell apoptosis and promoted cell invasion. It was foundthat circ-PRKCI can act as the sponge of miRNA-545 to reduce the expression of AKT3 protein. Moreover, the result of survival analysis showed that circ-PRKCI target gene E2 F7 can reduce liver cancer patients' survival rate.
