1Impaired granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor bioactivity accelerates surgical recurrence in ileal crohn's disease显示文摘AIM To examine the relationship between elevated granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor(GMCSF) auto-antibodies(Ab) level and time to surgical recurrence after initial surgery for Crohn's disease(CD). METHODS We reviewed 412 charts from a clinical database at tertiary academic hospital. Patients included in the study had ileal or ileocolonic CD and surgical resection of small bowel or ileocecal region for management of disease. Serum samples were analyzed for serological assays including GM-CSF cytokine, GM-CSF Ab, ASCA Ig G and Ig A, and genetic markers including SNPs rs2066843, rs2066844, rs2066845, rs2076756 and rs2066847 in NOD2, rs2241880 in ATG16 L1, and rs13361189 in IRGM. Cox proportional-hazards models were used to assess the predictors of surgical recurrence.RESULTS Ninety six percent of patients underwent initial ileocecal resection(ICR) or ileal resection(IR) and subsequently 40% of patients required a second ICR/IR for CD. GMCSF Ab level was elevated at a median of 3.81 mcg/mL. Factors predicting faster time to a second surgery included elevated GM-CSF Ab [hazard ratio(HR) 3.52, 95%CI: 1.45-8.53, P = 0.005] and elevated GM-CSF cytokine(HR = 2.48, 95%CI: 1.31-4.70, P = 0.005). Factors predicting longer duration between first and second surgery included use of Immunomodulators(HR = 0.49, 95%CI: 0.31-0.77, P = 0.002), the interaction effect of low GM-CSF Ab levels and smoking(HR = 0.60, 95%CI: 0.45-0.81, P = 0.001) and the interaction effect of low GM-CSF cytokine levels and ATG16 L1(HR = 0.65, 95%CI: 0.49-0.88, P = 0.006).CONCLUSION GM-CSF bioavailability plays a critical role in maintaining intestinal homeostasis. 2Effect of integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine on Gout显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the curative effect of integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine on gout,and to investigate the therapy timing and exact treatment options of integrated medicine.METHODS:Totally 860 patients were enrolled,including 460 patients with intermittent gout,200 patients with active Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)syndrome(TCM syndrome score≥6)and200 patients with stable TCM syndrome(score<6).They were randomly divided into intervention and control groups.The control group was treated according to Western Medicine guidelines.The intervention group was treated with integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine.The efficacy of TCM syndrome,joint pain score,joint swelling score,ESR,C-reactive protein,serum uric acid,liver and kidney function,and the duration of remission of TCM syndrome were compared between the two groups before and after treatments.RESULTS:For the patients with stable TCM syndrome,there was no significant difference in the effective rate and inefficiency between the intervention group and the control group.For the active type,the effective rate of the intervention group is better than the control group significantly.For the stable type,there was no significant difference between the intervention group and the control group in improving the scores of joint pain and swelling,reducing the level of ESR,C-reactive protein,serum uric acid and improving liver and kidney function.For the active type,the differences between the two groups were significant.The stable stage of gout in the intervention group was longer than the control group.CONCLUSION:For the gout patients with stable TCM syndrome in the acute stage of gout,we can use TCM treatment or Western Medicine alternatively;for the patients with active TCM syndrome,the scheme of combination of Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine can be applied,with the better curative effect than any medicine alone.LIU Wei WU Yuanhao XUE Bin JIN Yue ZHANG Shumin LI Peihao XIE Qing WANG Aihua GAO Jingyue CAI Yue ZHANG Bo LIU Xiaoya WANG Yi DUAN Ran 2021Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2021,41,5:3
3Clinical effects of acupuncture therapy for vascular dementia显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To evaluate clinical acupuncture treatment studies for vascular dementia,as well as to collect high-quality evidence related to clinical acupuncture treatment for clinical diagnosis.DATA SOURCES:PubMed database(1966-2010),Embase database(1986-2010),Cochrane Library(Issue 1,2010),Chinese Biomedical Literature Database(1979-2010),China HowNet database(1979-2010),VIP Journals Database(1989-2010),and Wanfang database(1998-2010) were analyzed by computer.DATA SELECTION:Any form of acupuncture(needles,electro-acupuncture,laser acupuncture,pointer,or ear acupuncture),as well as blank,placebo,Western medicine,acupuncture therapy combined with other therapies,and randomized or quasi-randomized controlled studies were included.The priority was given to high-quality randomized,controlled trials.Data were independently extracted from two reviewers and cross-checked in accordance with high to low standards utilizing evidence-based medicine to answer five relevant clinical questions.Statistical outcome indicators were measured using RevMan 5.0.20 software,such as overall function,Hasegawa Dementia Scale score,Functional Activities Questionnaire score,Mini Mental State Examination,and efficacy of daily living activities.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:The present study assessed standards of efficacy,including Hasegawa Dementia Scale score,Functional Activities Questionnaire score,Mini Mental State Examination,and efficacy of daily living activities.RESULTS:A total of 11 articles were included,including one with systematic reviews/meta-analysis,one with Cochrane A level,eight with Cochrane B level,and one with Cochrane C level evidence.Acupuncture resulting in improved overall function and cognitive function was superior than Western medicine.A system evaluation showed the following:weighted mean difference(WMD) = 5.64,95% confidence interval(CI):2.87-11.09,P < 0.01;WMD = 6.07,95% CI:3.76-8.38,P < 0.01.Two articles with Class B evidences revealed efficacy at different aspects of acupuncture and moxibustion,which was superior to the conventional body acupuncture group(risk ratio(RR) = 0.03,95% CI:0.01-0.18,P < 0.01;RR = 0.05,95% CI:0.07-0.13,P < 0.05).One A-level evidence study demonstrated that acupuncture improved mental state,daily living activities,and efficacy and effect of cognitive aspects,which was superior to the drug group [cognitive effects(RR = 5.92,95% CI:2.66-13.16,P < 0.01);activities of daily living efficacy(RR = 3.00,95% CI:1.57-5.75,P < 0.01)].The Mini Mental State Examination score resulted in the following:WMD = 3.85,95% CI:1.63-6.07,P < 0.01.One B-grade evidence article revealed that laser irradiation combined with electro-acupuncture was more effective than simple drug treatment(RR = 10.43,95% CI:1.22-89.46,P < 0.05).CONCLUSION:The inclusion of limited clinical studies has verified the efficacy of acupuncture in vascular dementia treatment.Acupuncture or its combination with Chinese herbs provides certain advantages,but most clinical studies have a small sample size.Large sample size,randomized,controlled trials are needed in the future for more definitive results.Zhao, Lei Guo, Yi Xiong, Jun Wang, Wei Du, Yuanhao Yan, Lijuan 2011Neural Regeneration Research2011,6,3:2
4Surface pseudocapacitance of mesoporous Mo_(3)N_(2) nanowire anode toward reversible high-rate sodium-ion storage显示文摘Sodium-ion storage devices are highly desirable for large-scale energy storage applications owing to the wide availability of sodium resources and low cost.Transition metal nitrides(TMNs)are promising anode materials for sodium-ion storage,while their detailed reaction mechanism remains unexplored.Herein,we synthesize the mesoporous Mo3N2 nanowires(Meso-Mo_(3)N_(2)-NWs).The sodium-ion storage mechanism of Mo3N2 is systematically investigated through in-situ XRD,ex-situ experimental characterizations and detailed kinetics analysis.Briefly,the Mo_(3)N_(2) undergoes a surface pseudocapacitive redox charge storage process.Benefiting from the rapid surface redox reaction,the Meso-Mo_(3)N_(2)-NWs anode delivers high specific capacity(282 m Ah g^(-1) at 0.1 A g^(-1)),excellent rate capability(87 m Ah g^(-1) at 16 A g^(-1))and long cycling stability(a capacity retention of 78.6%after 800 cycles at 1 A g^(-1)).The present work highlights that the surface pseudocapacitive sodium-ion storage mechanism enables to overcome the sluggish sodium-ion diffusion process,which opens a new direction to design and synthesize high-rate sodiumion storage materials.Yalong Jiang Jun Dong Shuangshuang Tan Qiulong Wei Fangyu Xiong Wei Yang Yuanhao Shen Qingxun Zhang Zi'ang Liu Qinyou An Liqiang Mai 2021Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,4:2
5New Delay Doppler Communication Paradigm in 6G Era:A Survey of Orthogonal Time Frequency Space(OTFS)显示文摘In the 6G era,Space-Air-Ground Integrated Network(SAGIN)are anticipated to deliver global coverage,necessitating support for a diverse array of emerging applications in high-mobility,hostile environments.Under such conditions,conventional orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM)modulation,widely employed in cellular and Wi-Fi communication systems,experiences performance degradation due to significant Doppler shifts.To overcome this obstacle,a novel twodimensional(2D)modulation approach,namely orthogonal time frequency space(OTFS),has emerged as a key enabler for future high-mobility use cases.Distinctively,OTFS modulates information within the delay-Doppler(DD)domain,as opposed to the timefrequency(TF)domain utilized by OFDM.This offers advantages such as Doppler and delay resilience,reduced signaling latency,a lower peak-to-average ratio(PAPR),and a reduced-complexity implementation.Recent studies further indicate that the direct interplay between information and the physical world in the DD domain positions OTFS as a promising waveform for achieving integrated sensing and communications(ISAC).In this article,we present an in-depth review of OTFS technology in the context of the 6G era,encompassing fundamentals,recent advancements,and future directions.Our objective is to provide a helpful resource for researchers engaged in the field of OTFS.Weijie Yuan Shuangyang Li Zhiqiang Wei Yuanhao Cui Jiamo Jiang Haijun Zhang Pingzhi Fan 2023China Communications2023,20,6:2
6Bandgap engineering of tetragonal phase CuFeS_(2)quantum dots via mixed-valence single-atomic Ag decoration for synergistic Cr(VI)reduction and RhB degradation显示文摘Bandgap engineering through single-atom site binding on semiconducting photocatalyst can boost the intrinsic activity,selectivity,carrier separation,and electron transport.Here,we report a mixed-valence Ag(0)and Ag(I)single atoms co-decorated semiconducting chalcopyrite quantum dots(Ag/CuFeS_(2)QDs)photocatalyst.It demonstrates efficient photocatalytic performances for specific organic dye(rhodamine B,denoted as RhB)as well as inorganic dye(Cr(VI))removal in water under natural sunlight irradiation.The RhB degradation and Cr(VI)removal efficiencies by Ag/CuFeS_(2)QDs were 3.55 and 6.75 times higher than those of the naked CuFeS_(2)QDs at their optimal pH conditions,respectively.Besides,in a mixture of RhB and Cr(VI)solution under neutral condition,the removal ratio has been elevated from 30.2%to 79.4%for Cr(VI),and from 95.2%to 97.3%for RhB degradation by using Ag/CuFeS_(2)QDs after 2 h sunlight illumination.The intrinsic mechanism for the photocatalytic performance improvement is attributed to the narrow bandgap of the single-atomic Ag(I)anchored CuFeS_(2)QDs,which engineers the electronic structure as well as expands the optical light response range.Significantly,the highly active Ag(0)/CuFeS_(2)and Ag(I)/CuFeS_(2)effectively improve the separation efficiency of the carriers,thus enhancing the photocatalytic performances.This work presents a highly efficient single atom/QDs photocatalyst,constructed through bandgap engineering via mixed-valence single noble metal atoms binding on semiconducting QDs.It paves the way for developing high-efficiency single-atom photocatalysts for complex pollutions removal in dyeing wastewater environment.Yangzi Shangguan Yuanhao Zhou Renji Zheng Xuezhen Feng Qiuyue Ge Ranhao Wang Dazhong Yang Wenfei Wei Xiaoyong Wu Jia Lin Hong Chen 2021Chinese Chemical Letters2021,32,11:1
7Bromodomain-containing proteins BRD1, BRD2, and BRD13 are core subunits of SWI/SNF complexes and vital for their genomic targeting in Arabidopsis显示文摘Switch defective/sucrose non-fermentable(SWI/SNF)chromatin remodeling complexes are multi-subunit machines that play vital roles in the regulation of chromatin structure and gene expression.However,the mechanisms by which SWI/SNF complexes recognize their target loci in plants are not fully understood.Here,we show that the Arabidopsis thaliana bromodomain-containing proteins BRD1,BRD2,and BRD13 are core subunits of SWI/SNF complexes and critical for SWI/SNF genomic targeting.These three BRDs interact directly with multiple SWI/SNF subunits,including the BRAHMA(BRM)catalytic subunit.Phenotypic and transcriptomic analyses of the brd1 brd2 brd13 triple mutant revealed that these BRDs act largely redundantly to control gene expression and developmental processes that are also regulated by BRM.Genome-wide occupancy profiling demonstrated that these three BRDs extensively colocalize with BRM on chromatin.Simultaneous loss of function of three BRD genes results in reduced BRM protein levels and decreased occupancy of BRM on chromatin across the genome.Furthermore,we demonstrated that the bromodomains of BRDs are essential for genomic targeting of the BRD subunits of SWI/SNF complexes to their target sites.Collectively,these results demonstrate that BRD1,BRD2,and BRD13 are core subunits of SWI/SNF complexes and reveal their biological roles in facilitating genomic targeting of BRM-containing SWI/SNF complexes in plants.Yaoguang Yu Wei Fu Jianqu Xu Yawen Lei Xin Song Zhenwei Liang Tao Zhu Yuhui Liang Yuanhao Hao Liangbing Yuan Chenlong Li 2021Molecular Plant2021,14,6:1

9Quantitative indicative significance of pollen assemblages on vegetation coverage in deciduous Quercus forest in the central Loess Plateau, China显示文摘We compared the pollen assemblages of surface moss samples and corresponding vegetation inventory data from 34 sites in the Huangling region of the central Loess Plateau. Our aims were to determine the characteristics of the pollen assemblages from the deciduous broadleaved forest climax community and its significance in terms of vegetation type and species composition. The pollen assemblages are dominated by woody plants such as Quercus(42% of total terrestrial pollen),Betula(16%) and Pinus(12%), with minor differences between different plant communities. The pollen assemblages of individual sampling sites differed from the vegetation composition within the 0–100 m scope and were more similar to the vegetation coverage within the 0–1000 m scope. This indicates that the surface pollen assemblages mainly reflect the comprehensive information from the vegetation composition of a large area, rather than the vegetation composition close to the sampling site. The contents of Quercus, Betula and Pinus pollen are high, and close to their vegetation coverage; whereas the contents of deciduous broadleaved arbor taxa(such as Malus and Acer) are lower, but their corresponding regional vegetation cover is higher. This suggests that the vegetation information conveyed by poorly-represented pollen taxa should be considered when interpreting stratigraphic pollen assemblages. Using the observed quantitative relationships between pollen and vegetation of the main taxa, we reconstructed the regional vegetation composition in the Gonghai Lake area of the northeastern Loess Plateau during the middle Holocene(7300–5000 yr BP). 10Single-cell RNA landscape of the special fiber initiation process in Bombax ceiba显示文摘As a new source of natural fibers,the Bombax ceiba tree can provide thin,light,extremely soft and warm fiber material for the textile industry.Natural fibers are an ideal model system for studying cell growth and differentiation,but the molecular mechanisms that regulate fiber initiation are not fully understood.In B.ceiba,we found that fiber cells differentiate from the epidermis of the inner ovary wall.Each initiated cell then divides into a cluster of fiber cells that eventually develop into mature fibers,a process very different from the classical fiber initiation process of cotton.We used high-throughput single-cell RNA sequencing(scRNA-seq)to examine the special characteristics of fiber initiation in B.ceiba.A total of 15567 high-quality cells were identified from the inner wall of the B.ceiba ovary,and 347 potential marker genes for fiber initiation cell types were identified.Two major cell types,initiated fiber cells and epidermal cells,were identified and verified by RNA in situ hybridization.A developmental trajectory analysis was used to reconstruct the process of fiber cell differentiation in B.ceiba.Comparative analysis of scRNAseq data from B.ceiba and cotton(Gossypium hirsutum)confirmed that the additional cell division process in B.ceiba is a novel species-specific mechanismfor fiber cell development.Candidate genes and key regulators that may contribute to fiber cell differentiation and division in B.ceiba were identified.This work reveals gene expression signatures during B.ceiba fiber initiation at a single-cell resolution,providing a new strategy and viewpoint for investigation of natural fiber cell differentiation and development.Yuanhao Ding Wei Gao Yuan Qin Xinping Li Zhennan Zhang Wenjie Lai Yong Yang Kai Guo Ping Li Shihan Zhou Haiyan Hu 2023Plant Communications2023,4,5:0
11Electrically injected GeSn lasers with peak wavelength up to 2.7 μm显示文摘GeSn lasers enable the monolithic integration of lasers on the Si platform using all-group-Ⅳ direct-bandgap material.The GeSn laser study recently moved from optical pumping into electrical injection.In this work,we present explorative investigations of GeSn heterostructure laser diodes with various layer thicknesses and material compositions.Cap layer material was studied by using Si_(0.03)Ge_(0.89)Sn_(0.08) and Ge_(0.95)Sn_(0.05),and cap layer total thickness was also compared.The 190 nm SiGeSn-cap device had threshold of 0.6 kA/cm^(2) at 10 K and a maximum operating temperature(T_(max)) of 100 K,compared to 1.4 kA/cm^(2) and 50 K from 150 nm SiGeSn-cap device,respectively.Furthermore,the 220 nm GeSn-cap device had 10 K threshold at 2.4 kA/cm^(2) and T_(max) at 90 K,i.e.,higher threshold and lower maximal operation temperature compared to the SiGeSn cap layer,indicating that enhanced electron confinement using SiGeSn can reduce the threshold considerably.The study of the active region material showed that device gain region using Ge_(0.87)Sn_(0.13) had a higher threshold and lower T_(max),compared to Ge_(0.89)Sn_(0.11).The performance was affected by the metal absorption,free carrier absorption,and possibly defect density level.The maximum peak wavelength was measured as 2682 nm at 90 K by using Ge_(0.87)Sn_(0.13) in gain regions.The investigations provide directions to the future GeSn laser diode designs toward the full integration of group-Ⅳ photonics on a Si platform.YIYIN ZHOU SOLOMON OJO CHEN-WEI WU YUANHAO MIAO HUONG TRAN JOSHUA MGRANT GREY ABERNATHY SYLVESTER AMOAH JAKE BASS GREGORY SALAMO WEI DU GUO-EN CHANG JIFENG LIU JOE MARGETIS JOHN TOLLE YONG-HANG ZHANG GREG SUN RICHARD ASOREF BAOHUA LI SHUI-QING YU 2022Photonics Research2022,10,1:0
12Genetic Insights into Glycine’s Protective Role Against CAD—European and East Asia,2015 and 2020显示文摘Introduction:The purpose of this study is to examine the potential causal relationship between levels of circulating glycine and coronary artery disease(CAD)using a two-step Mendelian randomization(MR)analysis.Methods:We analyzed data from genome-wide association studies(GWAS)conducted on European and East Asian populations.To assess the causal effects of circulating glycine levels on the risk of CAD.We used the inverse-variance weighting(IVW),weighted median(WM),MR-Egger,and Mendelian Randomization Pleiotropy RESidual Sum and Outlier(MR-PRESSO)methods.Furthermore,we conducted mediation analysis to investigate the contribution of blood pressure and other cardiovascular disease-related traits.Results:The two-step Mendelian randomization analysis revealed that higher levels of glycine in the blood were associated with a reduced risk of CAD in Europeans[odds ratio(OR)=0.84,95%confidence interval(CI):0.72,−0.98;P=0.029]and East Asians:(OR=0.76,95%CI:0.66,−0.89;P=3.57×10−4).Sensitivity analysis confirmed the robustness of these findings.Additionally,our results suggest that about 6.06%of the observed causal effect is mediated through genetically predicted systolic blood pressure(SBP)in the European population.Discussion:Our results contribute to the current knowledge regarding the involvement of glycine in the progression of CAD,and provide valuable methodological insights for the prevention and treatment of this condition.Jiaying Yu Zhuolin Zhu Ting Wang Yuanhao Wei Lianjie Huang Qianru Zhang Yuting Zhang Yiran Wang Guiyou Liu Xiang Shu Rennan Feng 2024China CDC weekly2024,6,9:0
13The light and hypoxia induced gene ZmPORB1 determines tocopherol content in the maize kernel显示文摘Tocopherol is an important lipid-soluble antioxidant beneficial for both human health and plant growth. Here, we fine mapped a major QTLqVE1 affecting γ-tocopherol content in maize kernel, positionally cloned and confirmed the underlying gene ZmPORB1(por1), as a protochlorophyllide oxidoreductase. A 13.7 kb insertion reduced the tocopherol and chlorophyll content, and the photosynthetic activity by repressing ZmPORB1 expression in embryos of NIL-K22, but did not affect the levels of the tocopherol precursors HGA(homogentisic acid)and PMP(phytyl monophosphate). Furthermore, ZmPORB1 is inducible by low oxygen and light, thereby involved in the hypoxia response in developing embryos. Concurrent with natural hypoxia in embryos, the redox state has been changed with NO increasing and H_(2)O_(2) decreasing, which lowered γ-tocopherol content via scavenging reactive nitrogen species. In conclusion, we proposed that the lower lightharvesting chlorophyll content weakened embryo photosynthesis, leading to fewer oxygen supplies and consequently diverse hypoxic responses including an elevated γ-tocopherol consumption. 15Numerical differentiation of noisy data with local optimum by data segmentation显示文摘A new numerical differentiation method with local optimum by data segmentation is proposed. The segmentation of data is based on the second derivatives computed by a Fourier development method. A filtering process is used to achieve acceptable segmentation.
