2A comprehensive analysis of the Bencao(herbal)small RNA Atlas reveals novel RNA therapeutics for treating human diseases显示文摘Cross-kingdom herbal mi RNA was first reported in 2012.Using a modified herbal extraction protocol,we obtained 73,677,287sequences by RNA-seq from 245 traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM),of which 20,758,257 were unique sequences.We constructed a Bencao(herbal)small RNA(s RNA)Atlas(http://gffzz4a3adbfa122d4a47hvbcppncwvnvv6wqc.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn),annotated the sequences by sequence-based clustering,and created a nomenclature system for Bencao s RNAs.The profiles of 21,757 mi RNAs in the Atlas were highly consistent with those of plant mi RNAs in mi RBase.Using software tools,our results demonstrated that all human genes might be regulated by s RNAs from the Bencao s RNA Atlas,part of the predicted human target genes were experimentally validated,suggesting that Bencao s RNAs might be one of the main bioactive components of herbal medicines.We established roadmaps for oligonucleotide drugs development and optimization of TCM prescriptions.Moreover,the decoctosome,a lipo-nano particle consisting of 0.5%–2.5%of the decoction,demonstrated potent medical effects.We propose a Bencao(herbal)Index,including small-molecule compounds(SM),protein peptides(P),nucleic acid(N),non-nucleic and non-proteinogenic large-molecule compounds(LM)and elements from Mendeleev's periodic table(E),to quantitatively measure the medical effects of botanic medicine.The Bencao s RNA Atlas is a resource for developing gene-targeting oligonucleotide drugs and optimizing botanical medicine,and may provide potential remedies for the theory and practice of one medicine.Yinghao Cao Yexuan Lin Na Sun Xinyi Du Yixin Dong Song Mei Xingyu Deng Xiaobei Li Shaoting Guo Kegong Tang Jiaqi Liu Xiangyu Qiao Dandan Zhao Yuhao Qin Cong Zhang Tianyi Xin Xiaohu Shi Congzhao Zhou Tao Dong De-an Guo Benedikt MKessler Dong Xu Jingyuan Song Fengming Huang Xiaoyue Wang Chengyu Jiang 2023Science China(Life Sciences)2023,66,10:2

5Sub-THz signals' propagation model in hypersonic plasma sheath under different atmospheric conditions显示文摘One of the aims for modern hypersonic cruise flight is hypersonic global reach. The length of route for such flights could be up to thousands of kilometers. The atmospheric conditions on the route are complicated. On the other hand, hypersonic flights used to suffer from communication blackout. The sub-THz communication is considered as a potential solution to the ‘blackout'. In the present study the propagation for sub-THz signals in hypersonic plasma sheaths was modeled under different atmospheric conditions. According to the study, the electron density and the electron collision frequency near the onboard antenna linearly increase with the atmospheric mass density around the vehicle, hence the attenuation of sub-THz signals in hypersonic plasma sheaths increases with the atmospheric mass density. The impact led by the atmospheric temperature is ignorable. Based on the study a new sub-THz signals' propagation model was developed, which could be utilized for quick estimation for signal propagation under different atmospheric conditions. The geographical difference of signal propagation over the whole globe was obtained with the new model. The results showed that the signal attenuation in plasma sheaths varies with latitude and longitude. 6Method for the extraction of circulating nucleic acids based on MOF reveals cell-free RNA signatures in liver cancer显示文摘Cell-free RNA(cf RNA) allows assessment of health, status, and phenotype of a variety of human organs and is a potential biomarker to non-invasively diagnose numerous diseases. Nevertheless, there is a lack of highly efficient and bias-free cf RNA isolation technologies due to the low abundance and instability of cf RNA.Here, we developed a reproducible and high-efficiency isolation technology for different types of cell-free nucleic acids(containing cf RNA and viral RNA) in serum/plasma based on the inclusion of nucleic acids by metal-organic framework(MOF) materials, which greatly improved the isolation efficiency and was able to preserve RNA integrity compared with the most widely used research kit method. Importantly, the quality of cf RNA extracted by the MOF method is about 10-fold that of the kit method, and the MOF method isolates more than three times as many different RNA types as the kit method. The whole transcriptome mapping characteristics of cf RNA in serum from patients with liver cancer was described and a cf RNA signature with six cf RNAs was identified to diagnose liver cancer with high diagnostic efficiency(area under curve = 0.905 in the independent validation cohort) using this MOF method. 7Genome‑wide DNA methylation and transcriptome analyses reveal the key gene for wool type variation in sheep显示文摘Background Wool fibers are valuable materials for textile industry.Typical wool fibers are divided into medullated and non-medullated types,with the former generated from primary wool follicles and the latter by either primary or secondary wool follicles.The medullated wool is a common wool type in the ancestors of fine wool sheep before breeding.The fine wool sheep have a non-medullated coat.However,the critical period determining the type of wool follicles is the embryonic stage,which limits the phenotypic observation and variant contrast,making both selection and studies of wool type variation fairly difficult.Results During the breeding of a modern fine(MF)wool sheep population with multiple-ovulation and embryo transfer technique,we serendipitously discovered lambs with ancestral-like coarse(ALC)wool.Whole-genome rese-quencing confirmed ALC wool lambs as a variant type from the MF wool population.We mapped the significantly associated methylation locus on chromosome 4 by using whole genome bisulfite sequencing signals,and in turn identified the SOSTDC1 gene as exons hypermethylated in ALC wool lambs compare to their half/full sibling MF wool lambs.Transcriptome sequencing found that SOSTDC1 was expressed dozens of times more in ALC wool lamb skin than that of MF and was at the top of all differentially expressed genes.An analogy with the transcriptome of coarse/fine wool breeds revealed that differentially expressed genes and enriched pathways at postnatal lamb stage in ALC/MF were highly similar to those at the embryonic stage in the former.Further experiments validated that the SOSTDC1 gene was specifically highly expressed in the nucleus of the dermal papilla of primary wool follicles.Conclusion In this study,we conducted genome-wide differential methylation site association analysis on differen-tial wool type trait,and located the only CpG locus that strongly associated with primary wool follicle development.Combined with transcriptome analysis,SOSTDC1 was identified as the only gene at this locus that was specifically overexpressed in the primary wool follicle stem cells of ALC wool lamb skin.The discovery of this key gene and its epigenetic regulation contributes to understanding the domestication and breeding of fine wool sheep.Jiankui Wang Guoying Hua Ganxian Cai Yuhao Ma Xue Yang Letian Zhang Rui Li Jianbin Liu Qing Ma Keliang Wu Yaofeng Zhao Xuemei Deng 2023Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2023,14,6:0

9Comparative analysis on gas–solid drag models in MFIX-DEM simulations of bubbling fluidized bed显示文摘In this study,the open-source software MFIX-DEM simulations of a bubbling fluidized bed(BFB)are applied to assess nine drag models according to experimental and direct numerical simulation(DNS)results.The influence of superficial gas velocity on gas–solid flow is also examined.The results show that according to the distribution of time-averaged particle axial velocity in y direction,except for Wen–Yu and Tenneti–Garg–Subramaniam(TGS),other drag models are consistent with the experimental and DNS results.For the TGS drag model,the layer-by-layer movement of particles is observed,which indicates the particle velocity is not correctly predicted.The time domain and frequency domain analysis results of pressure drop of each drag model are similar.It is recommended to use the drag model derived from DNS or fine grid computational fluid dynamics–discrete element method(CFD-DEM)data first for CFD-DEM simulations.For the investigated BFB,the superficial gas velocity less than 0.9 m·s^(-1) should be adopted to obtain normal hydrodynamics.Ruiyu Li Xiaole Huang Yuhao Wu Lingxiao Dong Srdjan Beloševic Aleksandar Milicevic Ivan Tomanovic Lei Deng Defu Che 2023Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2023,64,12:0
10Lightweight Cross-Modal Multispectral Pedestrian Detection Based on Spatial Reweighted Attention Mechanism显示文摘Multispectral pedestrian detection technology leverages infrared images to provide reliable information for visible light images, demonstrating significant advantages in low-light conditions and background occlusion scenarios. However, while continuously improving cross-modal feature extraction and fusion, ensuring the model’s detection speed is also a challenging issue. We have devised a deep learning network model for cross-modal pedestrian detection based on Resnet50, aiming to focus on more reliable features and enhance the model’s detection efficiency. This model employs a spatial attention mechanism to reweight the input visible light and infrared image data, enhancing the model’s focus on different spatial positions and sharing the weighted feature data across different modalities, thereby reducing the interference of multi-modal features. Subsequently, lightweight modules with depthwise separable convolution are incorporated to reduce the model’s parameter count and computational load through channel-wise and point-wise convolutions. The network model algorithm proposed in this paper was experimentally validated on the publicly available KAIST dataset and compared with other existing methods. 11Direct synthesis of high-quality perovskite nanocrystals on a flexible substrate and deterministic transfer显示文摘Solid-state perovskite nanocrystals are promising coherent light sources, as there is optical feedback within the crystal structure. In order to utilize the high performance of perovskites for on-chip applications, or observe new physical phenomena, these crystals must be integrated with pre-fabricated electronic or photonic structures. However, the material's fragility has made the deterministic transfer a great challenge thus far. Here, we report the first deterministic transfer of perovskite nanocrystals with sub-micron accuracy. Cesium lead halide(CsPbI_3) nanocrystals were directly synthesized on flexible polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS) stamps via chemical vapor deposition(CVD) and subsequently transferred onto arbitrary substrates/structures. We demonstrated the transfer of a CsPbI_3 crystalline nanoplate(NP)onto an 8 mm fiber core and achieved single-mode whispering gallery mode lasing. 12Recent Advances in Cadmium Sulfide-Based Photocatalysts for Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution显示文摘High-efficiency photocatalytic hydrogen evolution(PHE)relies on the development of inexpensive,stable,and efficient photocatalysts.Cadmium sulfide(CdS),as a typical binary metal sulfide,has attracted considerable research attention due to its negative conduction band position,narrow band gap for visible-light response,and strong driving force for PHE.However,the construction of CdSbased photocatalysts and the PHE rate still require improvement for practical applications.In this review,recent advances in CdS-based photocatalysts for PHE via water splitting are systematically summarized.First,the semiconductor properties of CdS,including the crystal and band structures,are briefly introduced.Afterward,the fundamental mechanisms of PHE using semiconductor photocatalysts via water splitting are discussed.Subsequently,the photoactivity of bare CdS with different morphologies and structures,CdS with cocatalyst loading,and CdS-based heterojunction photocatalysts are reviewed and discussed in detail.Finally,the challenges and prospects for exploring advanced CdS-based photocatalysts are provided.Xinlong Zheng Yuhao Liu Yuqi Yang Yiming Song Peilin Deng Jing Li Weifeng Liu Yijun Shen Xinlong Tian 2023Renewables2023,1,1:0
