Osteoimmunomodulatory effects of biomaterial modification strategies on macrophage polarization and bone regeneration显示文摘Biomaterials as bone substitutes are always considered as foreign bodies that can trigger host immune responses.Traditional designing principles have been always aimed at minimizing the immune reactions by fabricating inert biomaterials. However, clinical evidence revealed that those methods still have limitations and many of which were only feasible in the laboratory.Currently, osteoimmunology, the very pioneering concept is drawing more and more attention-it does not simply regard the immune response as an obstacle during bone healing but emphasizes the intimate relationship of the immune and skeletal system, which includes diverse cells, cytokines, and signaling pathways.Properties of biomaterials like topography, wettability, surface charge, the release of cytokines, mediators, ions and other bioactive molecules can impose effects on immune responses to interfere with the skeletal system.Based on the bone formation mechanisms, the designing methods of the biomaterials change from immune evasive to immune reprogramming. Here,we discuss the osteoimmunomodulatory effects of the new modification strategies—adjusting properties of bone biomaterials to induce a favorable osteoimmune environment.Such strategies showed potential to benefit the development of bone materials and lay a solid foundation for the future clinical application. | Yajuan Xie Cheng Hu Yi Feng Danfeng Li Tingting Ai Yulei Huang Xiaodan Chen Lijia Huang Jiali Tan | 2020 | Regenerative Biomaterials2020,7,3: | 22
Development and Calibration of a Hyperstatic Six-component Force/Torque Sensor显示文摘The six-component force/torque sensor has become one kind of the most important sensors with the ability of measuring all the external forces and torques. A novel hyperstatic six-component force/torque sensor based on the Stewart platform structure, which can be used for the force measurement of the robot wrist,is proposed, and its structural optimal design, finite element analysis and calibration experimentation is presented. The characteristic of the sensor structure is analyzed in comparison with the traditional Stewart platform-based sensor. The mathematical expression of the sensor's force mapping matrix is introduced. The condition number and generalized amplifying coefficient defined by singular values of force Jacobian matrix are used to evaluate the performances of isotropy and sensitivity of the sensor respectively. The optimal design of the sensor structure is performed with the objective of achieving high measurement sensitivity and good isotropy. The sensor prototype is fabricated, and the static and dynamic characteristics of the sensor are analyzed with finite element analysis software package ANSYS. The calibration device is manufactured, and the data acquisition and processing system is developed. The theoretical and experimental study of the static calibration of the sensor prototype is carried out. The results of simulation analysis and calibration experimentation prove the feasibility of the hyperstatic sensor structure, and the contents of this paper possess theoretical significance and engineering value for the further research and practical application of the six-component force sensor. | HOU Yulei YAO Jiantao ZENG Daxing CHEN Jie ZHAO Yongsheng | 2009 | Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2009,22,4: | 9
Protective effect of Jiaweibugan decoction against diabetic peripheral neuropathy显示文摘Oxygen free radical damage is regarded as a direct or indirect common pathway associated with diabetic neuropathy and is the main cause of complications in peripheral neuropathies. We speculate that Jiaweibugan decoction has a significant effect in treating diabetic peripheral neuropathy through an anti-oxidative stress pathway. In this study, a diabetic rat model was established by intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin. Rats were treated with Jiaweibugan decoction via intragastric administration. The levels of malondialdehyde and glutathione, which are indirect indexes of oxidative stress, in serum were determined using a colorimetric method. The expression levels of nuclear factor kappa B p65 mRNA and p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase, which are oxidative stress associated factors, in the dorsal root ganglion of spinal S 4-6 segments were evaluated by reverse-transcriptase polymerase chain reaction and immunohistochemistry. Results showed that, Jiaweibugan decoction significantly ameliorated motor nerve conduction velocity in diabetic rats, effectively decreased malondialdehyde levels in serum and the expression of nuclear factor kappa B p65 mRNA and p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase mRNA in the dorsal root ganglion, and increased glutathione levels in serum. Therefore, our experimental findings indicate that Jiaweibugan decoction plays an anti-oxidative stress role in the diabetic peripheral neuropathy process, which has a protective effect on peripheral nerve injury. | Yu Wang Zeqi Chen Renqun Ye Yulei He Yuhong Li Xinjian Qiu | 2013 | Neural Regeneration Research2013,8,12: | 5

Hundred-Joule-level,nanosecond-pulse Nd:glass laser system with high spatiotemporal beam quality显示文摘A 100-J-level Nd:glass laser system in nanosecond-scale pulse width has been constructed to perform as a standard source of high-fluence-laser science experiments. The laser system, operating with typical pulse durations of 3–5 ns and beam diameter 60 mm, employs a sequence of successive rod amplifiers to achieve 100-J-level energy at 1053 nm at3 ns. The frequency conversion can provide energy of 50-J level at 351 nm. In addition to the high stability of the energy output, the most valuable of the laser system is the high spatiotemporal beam quality of the output, which contains the uniform square pulse waveform, the uniform flat-top spatial fluence distribution and the uniform flat-top wavefront. | Sensen Li Yulei Wang Zhiwei Lu Lei Ding Yi Chen Pengyuan Du Dexin Ba Zhenxing Zheng Xin Wang Hang Yuan Chengyu Zhu Weiming He Dianyang Lin Yongkang Dong Dengwang Zhou Zhenxu Bai Zhaohong Liu Can Cui | 2016 | High Power Laser Science and Engineering2016,4,1: | 3
Structural modification and antitumor activity of antimicrobial peptide HYL显示文摘HYL derived from the venom of the solitary bee Hylaeus signatus(Hymenoptera:Colletidae)is anα-helical antimicrobial peptide with 16 residues. To explore whether HYL can be applied in anti-tumor therapy,we synthesized HYL and further modified its structure by using a solid-phase synthesis method, and then evaluated their antitumor activities.Firstly,we identified the key residues of HYL by alanine scanning strategy, and then a series of stapled peptides were synthesized by hydrocarbon stapling strategy without destroying the key residues. All the stapled peptides of HYL showed significant improvement not only inα-helicity,but also in antitumor activity and protease resistance when compared to the parent peptide HYL.The results showed that hydrophobicity and amphiphilicity are important factors affecting the antitumor activity of HYL,and the stapling strategy can significantly affect the proteolytic stability and helicity of HYL.What’s more,we find that the stapled peptides HYL-14,HYL-16 and HYL-18 show a promising prospect for novel anti-tumor drug development. | Minghao Wu Qing Chen Yingdi Wang Yulei Li Xia Zhao Qi Chang | 2020 | Chinese Chemical Letters2020,31,5: | 2
Tracing the location of powdery mildew resistance-related gene Stpk-V by FISH with a TAC clone in Triticum aestivum–Haynaldia villosa alien chromosome lines显示文摘Bacterial artificial chromosomes(BACs)or yeast artificial chromosomes(YACs)containing large inserts as probes for fluorescence in situ hybridization(FISH)have been used in the physical mapping of specific DNA sequences, especially for single-or low-copy sequences. Our earlier study identified Stpk-V,a powdery mildew resistance-related gene located on the 6VS chromosome arm of the wild grass Haynaldia villosa(tribe Triticeae),and obtained several Triticum aestivum–H.villosa alien chromosome lines carrying the Stpk-V gene. However, the precise physical location of the Stpk-V gene on chromosome 6VS is not known. In this study,we used TAC-FISH with TAC15 as the probe coupled with sequential genomic in situ hybridization(GISH)to determine the physical location of the Stpk-V gene in different T.aestivum–H.villosa 6V alien chromosome lines, including addition, substitution and translocation lines. The result indicated that the fraction length of the Stpk-V locus is 0.575±0.035 on the 6V chromosome short arm and this was confirmed by FISH using TAC15 as the probe for tracing the Stpk-V gene in other genetic stocks. The cytological mapping strategies used in this study will be of benefit for tracing the alien gene location in the course of introducing desirable traits from wild species. | YANG XueMing CAO AiZhong SUN YuLei CHEN PeiDu | 2013 | Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,33: | 2

Efficacy and safety of Sancai powder in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus: a randomized controlled trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To assess the efficacy and safety of Sancai powder in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM) inadequately controlled with single oral metformin in a randomized controlled trial(RCT).METHODS: A total of 132 patients with T2 DM were enrolled in the study, who only took metformin(500-1000 mg/day) for at least three months and with inadequate glycemic control(7.0% ≤ hemoglobin A1 c ≤ 9.0%) in the past three months. The patients stopped taking metformin with lifestyle interventions for three weeks, and 105 patients qualified for the program. They were randomly divided into the Sancai powder group and the metformin group(1500 mg/day). The follow-up period was for 12 weeks. Comparisons of several variables were analyzed.RESULTS: No significant differences were found between the two groups in hemoglobin A1c(Hb A1c),fasting plasma glucose(FPG) and 2 h post-meal glucose(2h PG), although they had decreased significantly(P < 0.01). Homeostasis model assessment of beta cell function index was significantly improved in Sancai powder group(P < 0.01), and there were significant differences in the changes of homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance and insulin sensitivity index in the two groups(P < 0.05). Sancai powder significantly reduced triglyceride level(P < 0.05), although there was no significant difference in the body weight and body mass index in the two groups.CONCLUSION: In this 12-week study, Sancai powder could significantly reduce hemoglobin A1 c,FPG and 2h PG levels, improved beta-cell function and insulin resistance of the T2 DM inadequately controlled with metformin. | Guo Qiang Zhang Hengyao Li Mindian Zhao Ziyi Luo Yunlin Luo Yulei Cao Wenzhai Zhao Huan Zhu Ranran Lei Xingxing Chen Huizhen Gan Huakui Zuo Zhihuang Chen Qi Shi Cuimei Zhang Xinli Guo Jian Zhong Sen Chen Qiu | 2016 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2016,36,5: | 1
Analysis of factors influencing cardiopulmonary resuscitation and survival outcome in adults after in-hospital cardiac arrest:a retrospective observational study显示文摘To the Editor:Cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR)guidelines, especially the latest 2020 guidelines issued by the American Heart Association(AHA),have emphasized the importance of high-quality CPR.[1]The research on cardiac arrest(CA)and CPR has dramatically increased in recent years, and the international recovery guidelines are also being revised and implemented. However, the outcome of in-hospital cardiac arrest(IHCA)remains poor, and the understanding of the prognostic factors for survival outcome after IHCA is lacking, especially in China.Patients with CA are often poorly treated, and the incidence and mortality of CA are increasing yearly.[2]This study analyzed the effects of CPR,and explored the factors that affect survival outcome after IHCA in adults. | Chaolan Wang Yulei Gao Yancun Liu Ying Yao Chen Li Qingsong Li Yanfen Chai | 2022 | Chinese Medical Journal2022,135,23: | 1

Presence of circulating tumor cells is associated with metabolic-related variables in postoperative patients with early-stage breast cancer显示文摘Objective:Although circulating tumor cells(CTCs)have been well-established as promising prognostic biomarkers in both early breast cancer and metastatic settings, little is known regarding the prognostic relevance of CTCs in the long-term postoperative monitoring of patients with non-metastatic breast cancer(non-MBC).In this study,we investigated the associations of CTCs with clinicopathological features and metabolic-related variables, such as obesity and hyperglycemia. Methods:In this retrospective study,we recruited 264 patients with postoperative stage Ⅰ–Ⅲ breast cancer at Guangdong General Hospital from January 2009 to December 2015.The prevalence and number of CTCs were assessed using the Cell Search System at a median time of 19.0 months[interquartile range(IQR),7.8–33.0]after surgery. The CTC assay results were correlated with the clinicopathological features and metabolic-related variables.A multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to further determine the independent predictors of CTCs.Results:CTCs were detected in 10.6%of all patients. The positive rate of CTCs in patients with infiltrating ductal carcinoma was lower than that in patients with other pathological types(9.0%vs.28.6%,P=0.020).More importantly, the presence of CTCs was correlated with blood glucose level(P=0.015)and high-density lipoprotein level(P=0.030).The multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the pathological type[odds ratio(OR):1.757,95%CI:1.021–3.023;P=0.042]and blood glucose level(OR:1.218,95%CI:1.014–1.465;P=0.035)were independent predictors of the presence of CTCs.Conclusions:This study revealed potential associations between CTCs and metabolic-related factors in Chinese patients with non-MBC and supports the hypothesis that metabolic dysfunction in breast cancer patients might influence the biological activity of metastatic breast cancer, leading to a higher prevalence of CTCs. | Yumei Shi Guochun Zhang Yulei Wang Chongyang Ren Lingzhu Wen Wenzhen Zhu Xiaoqing Chen Ning Liao | 2018 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2018,30,3: | 1

Amplification of 200-ps high-intensity laser pulses via frequency matching stimulated Brillouin scattering显示文摘Laser pulses of 200 ps with extremely high intensities and high energies are sufficient to satisfy the demand of shock ignition, which is an alternative path to ignition in inertial confinement fusion(ICF).This paper reports a type of Brillouin scheme to obtain high-intensity 200-ps laser pulses, where the pulse durations are a challenge for conventional pulsed laser amplification systems. In the amplification process, excited Brillouin acoustic waves fulfill the nonlinear optical effect through which the high energy of a long pump pulse is entirely transferred to a 200-ps laser pulse. This method was introduced and achieved within the SG-Ⅲprototype system in China.Compared favorably with the intensity of 2 GW/cm^2 in existing ICF laser drivers,a 6.96-GW/cm^2 pulse with a width of 170 ps was obtained in our experiment. The practical scalability of the results to larger ICF laser drivers is discussed. | Hang Yuan Yulei Wang Qiang Yuan Dongxia Hu Can Cui Zhaohong Liu Sensen Li Yi Chen Feng Jing Zhiwei Lu | 2019 | High Power Laser Science and Engineering2019,7,3: | 1
