| 1 | Explicit diagnosis of the local ozone production rate and the ozone-NOx-VOC sensitivities显示文摘In the troposphere, ozone is a harmful gas compound to both human health and vegetation. Ozone is produced from the reaction of NO_x(@NO + NO_2) and VOCs(volatile organic compounds) with light. Due to the highly nonlinear relationships between ozone and its precursors, proper ozone mitigation relies on the knowledge of chemical mechanisms. In this study, an observation-based method is used to simulate ozone formation and elucidate its controlling factors for a rural site on the North China Plain. The instantaneous ozone production rate is calculated utilizing a box model using the dataset obtained from the Wangdu campaign. First, the model was operated in a time-dependent mode to calculate the ozone production rate at each time stamp. The calculated ozone formation rate showed a diurnal average maximum value of 17 ppbv/h(1-h diurnal averaged). The contribution of individual peroxy radicals to ozone production was analyzed. In addition, the functional dependence of calculated P(O_3) reveals that ozone production was in a NO_x-limited regime during the campaign. Furthermore, the missing peroxy radical source will further extend NO_x-limited conditions to earlier in the day, making NO_xlimitation dominate more of a day than the current chemical model predicts. Finally, a multiple scenarios mode,also known as EKMA(empirical kinetic modeling approach), was used to simulate the response of P(O_3) to the imaginary change in precursor concentrations. We found that ozone production was in the NO_x-limited region. | 2 | Exploration of the formation mechanism and source attribution of ambient ozone in Chongqing with an observation-based model显示文摘An intensive field campaign was conducted in Chongqing during the summer of 2015 to explore the formation mechanisms of ozone pollution. The sources of ozone, the local production rates, and the controlling factors, as well as key species of volatile organic compounds(VOCs), were quantified by integrating a local ozone budget analysis, calculations of the relative incremental reactivity, and an empirical kinetic model approach. It was found that the potential for rapid local ozone formation exists in Chongqing. During ozone pollution episodes, the ozone production rates were found to be high at the upwind station Nan Quan, the urban station Chao Zhan, and the downwind station Jin-Yun Shan. The average local ozone production rate was 30×10^(-9) V/V h^(-1) and the daily integration of the produced ozone was greater than 180×10^(-9) V/V. High ozone concentrations were associated with urban and downwind air masses. At most sites, the local ozone production was VOC-limited and the key species were aromatics and alkene, which originated mainly from vehicles and solvent usage. In addition, the air masses at the northwestern rural sites were NO_x-limited and the local ozone production rates were significantly higher during the pollution episodes due to the increased NOx concentrations. In summary, the ozone abatement strategies of Chongqing should be focused on the mitigation of VOCs. | 3 | Ciliary parathyroid hormone signaling activates transforming growth factor-βto maintain intervertebral disc homeostasis during aging显示文摘Degenerative disc disease(DDD) is associated with intervertebral disc degeneration of spinal instability. Here, we report that the cilia of nucleus pulposus(NP) cells mediate mechanotransduction to maintain anabolic activity in the discs. We found that mechanical stress promotes transport of parathyroid hormone 1 receptor(PTH1 R) to the cilia and enhances parathyroid hormone(PTH) signaling in NP cells. PTH induces transcription of integrin α_vβ_6 to activate the transforming growth factor(TGF)-β-connective tissue growth factor(CCN2)-matrix proteins signaling cascade. Intermittent injection of PTH(iPTH) effectively attenuates disc degeneration of aged mice by direct signaling through NP cells, specifically improving intervertebral disc height and volume by increasing levels of TGF-β activity, CCN2, and aggrecan. PTH1 R is expressed in both mouse and human NP cells. Importantly,knockout PTH1 R or cilia in the NP cells results in significant disc degeneration and blunts the effect of PTH on attenuation of aged discs. | 5 | Liraglutide alleviates cardiac fibrosis through inhibiting P4hα-1 expression in STZ-induced diabetic cardiomyopathy显示文摘Diabetic cardiomyopathy is an important contributor to morbidity and mortality of diabetic patients by causing heart failure.Interstitial and perivascular fibrosis plays a crucial role in diabetic cardiomyopathy.However,there is a lack of effective specific treatments available for diabetic cardiomyopathy.In the present study,we aim to explore the effects of Liraglutide,a GLP-1 analogue,on diabetic cardiomyopathy in STZ-induced diabetic rats fed with high-fat diet.A total of 60 male Wistar rats were randomly assigned to three groups,i.e.normal group,model group,and Liraglutide group,with 20 rats in each group.Serum levels of TC,TG,LDL-C,NEFA,and hydroxyproline were measured using commercial kits.Cardiac function was evaluated by QRS waves,LVEDd,LVESd,and LVEF.Myocardial fibrosis was measured by immunohistochemistry.Our results demonstrated that chronic administration of Liraglutide decreased the level of blood glucose and significantly alleviated lipid metabolic disturbance compared with the model group.Furthermore,Liraglutide was found to improve the damaged cardiac function.In line with this,we also found that the alleviation of cardiac dysfunction was associated with the decreased fibrosis in diabetic myocardial tissues,which was reflected by the decreased expressions of P4hα-1,COL-1,COL-3,MMP-1,and MMP-9.Our results thus suggest that Liraglutide might have a myocardial protective effect by inhibiting P4hα-1-mediated myocardial fibrosis. | Tong Zhao Huiqiang Chen Fei Xu Juan Wang Yusheng Liu Xiaowei Xing Linlin Guo Mingxiang Zhang Qinghua Lu | 2019 | Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2019,51,3: | 9 |
| 6 | A 23 GHz high-temperature superconducting microstrip filter for radio astronomy显示文摘This paper reports a 6-pole high-temperature superconducting (HTS) microstrip bandpass filter for radio astronomy applications. The filter has a center frequency of 23 GHz and a bandwidth the 2 GHz. We have made many efforts, such as adopting 0.25-mm-thick substrate, carefully designing the housing box and filter layout, to solve the problems in realizing a K-band planar filter. A special straight-line half-wavelength resonator (center-widen resonator) was also designed to reduce the insertion loss of the filter. The measured results showed a midband insertion loss of 0.11 dB with a ripple of 0.4 dB, and a return loss better than 11.5 dB. | 7 | Zircon and Monazite Ages Constraints on Devonian Magmatism and Granulite-Facies Metamorphism in the Southern Qaidam Block:Implications for Evolution of Proto-and Paleo-Tethys in East Asia显示文摘High-temperature magma generation process and granulite-facies metamorphism can provide important information about mantle-crustal interaction and tectonic evolution. The strongly peraluminous monzonite pluton, the Jinshuikou cordierite granite on the southern margin of the Qaidam Block, can provide important information about the mantle-crustal interaction and constraints on tectonic transition from Proto-Tethys to Paleo-Tethys. This pluton develops enclaves of mafic granulite, amphibolite and quartzofeldspathic rocks, and is cut by massive monzonitic leuco-granite veins. Zircon and monazite U-Pb dating for the cordierite granite, the granulite enclaves and a massive monzonitic leuco-granite vein reveal that the cordierite granitic magma was generated from Mesoproterozoic continental crust with protolith derived from a provenance that was composed of >2.8 Ga old recycled crustal materials and recorded a ~1.7 Ga magmatic event. The continental crust underwent low-pressure granulite-facies metamorphism at ~380 Ma ago, whereas the cordierite granite magmas was generated and emplaced during 380 Ma, followed by intrusion of the massive monzonitic leuco-granite vein at circa 370–330 Ma. | 10 | Downregulation of KCTD12 contributes to melanoma stemness by modulating CD271显示文摘Objective: Cancer metastasis remains the primary cause of cancer-related death worldwide.In a previous study, we found that levels of BTB/POZ domain-containing protein KCTD12 are lower in metastatic melanoma cells than in parental melanoma cells.The purpose of this study was to identify the roles of KCTD12 in cancer metastasis.Methods: The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA) datasets were used to evaluate the relationship between KCTD12 and skin cutaneous melanoma(SKCM) prognosis.The effects of endogenous KCTD12 on biological behaviors were examined using the MTT assay.The impacts of KCTD12 on melanoma stemness were explored using spheroid formation assay.KCTD12 knockout A375 cells were generated to confirm the inhibitory effect of KCTD12 on CD271, and a mouse metastatic model was used to determine the impact of KCTD12 on melanoma metastasis in vivo.Results: KCTD12 levels were lower in lung metastatic cells than in paired parental melanoma cells, and low KCTD12 expression indicated a poor prognosis in SKCM.Cancer metastasis-related capacities were higher in lung metastatic cells than in parental melanoma cells.Moreover, KCTD12 knockdown enhanced tumor growth and metastasis both in vitro and in vivo.Mechanistically, the interaction between KCTD12 and CD271 might be responsible for the stemness transformation after KCTD12 knockdown.Conclusions: This study identifies for the first time the role of the interaction between KCTD12 and CD271 in inducing melanoma cell stemness transformation.Moreover, KCTD12 repression enhances melanoma cell growth, adhesion, migration and invasion. | Weiyu Shen Yumei Li Bifei Li Liping Zheng Xiaodong Xie Jingqing Le Yusheng Lu Tao Li Fan Chen Lee Jia | 2019 | Cancer Biology & Medicine2019,16,3: | 4 |
| 11 | In situ monitoring of atmospheric nitrous acid based on multi-pumping flow system and liquid waveguide capillary cell显示文摘In the last four decades, various techniques including spectroscopic, wet chemical and mass spectrometric methods, have been developed and applied for the detection of ambient nitrous acid(HONO). We developed a HONO detection system based on long path photometry which consists of three independent modules i.e., sampling module, fluid propulsion module and detection module. In the propulsion module, solenoid pumps are applied. With solenoid pumps the pulsed flow can be computer controlled both in terms of pump stroke volume and pulse frequency, which enables the attainment of a very stable flow rate. In the detection module, a customized Liquid Waveguide Capillary Cell(LWCC) is used. The customized LWCC pre-sets the optical fiber in-coupling with the liquid wave guide, providing the option of fast startup and easy maintenance of the absorption photometry. In summer 2014, our system was deployed in a comprehensive campaign at a rural site in the North China Plain. More than one month of high quality HONO data spanning from the limit of detection to 5 ppb were collected. Intercomparison of our system with another established system from Forschungszentrum Juelich is presented and discussed. | 17 | Fabrication and microstructure evolution of C_(sf)/ZrB_(2)-SiC composites via direct ink writing and reactive melt infiltration显示文摘Fiber damage and uniform interphase preparation are the main challenges in conventional short fiber reinforced ceramic matrix composites.In this work,we develop a novel processing route in fabrication of short carbon fiber reinforced ZrB_(2)-SiC composites(C_(sf)/ZrB_(2)-SiC)overcoming the above two issues.At first,C_(sf) preforms with oriented designation and uniform PyC/SiC interphase are fabricated via direct ink writing(DIW)of short carbon fiber paste followed by chemical vapor infiltration.After that,ZrB_(2) and SiC are introduced into the preforms by slurry impregnation and reactive melt infiltration,respectively.Microstructure evolution and optimization of the composites during fabrication are investigated in detail.The as-fabricated C_(sf)/ZrB_(2)-SiC composites have a bulk density of 2.47 g/cm^(3),with uniform weak interphase and without serious fiber damage.Consequently,non-brittle fracture occurs in the C_(sf)/ZrB_(2)-SiC composites with widespread toughening mechanisms such as crack deflection and bridging,interphase debonding,and fiber pull-out.This work provides a new opportunity to the material design and selection of short fiber reinforced composites. | Jun LU Dewei NI Chunjing LIAO Haijun ZHOU Youlin JIANG Bowen CHEN Xuegang ZOU Feiyan CAI Yusheng DING Shaoming DONG | 2021 | Journal of Advanced Ceramics2021,10,6: | 1 |
