2Risk factors for cervical lymph node metastasis in papillary thyroid microcarcinoma: a study of 1,587 patients显示文摘Objective: The purposes of this study were to identify risk factors for cervical lymph node metastasis and to examine the association between BRAF^(V600E) status and clinical features in papillary thyroid microcarcinoma(PTMC).Methods: A total of 1,587 patients with PTMC, treated in Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute and Hospital from January2011 to March 2013, underwent retrospective analysis. We reviewed and analyzed factors including clinical results, pathology records, ultrasound results, and BRAF^(V600E) status.Results: Multivariate logistic regression analyses demonstrated that gender(male) [odds ratio(OR) = 1.845, P = 0.000], age(< 45 years)(OR = 1.606, P = 0.000), tumor size(> 6 mm)(OR = 2.137, P = 0.000), bilateralism(OR = 2.011, P = 0.000) and extrathyroidal extension(OR = 1.555, P = 0.001) served as independent predictors of central lymph node metastasis(CLNM).Moreover, CLNM(OR = 29.354, P = 0.000) served as an independent predictor of lateral lymph node metastasis(LLNM). Among patients with a solitary primary tumor, those with tumor location in the lower third of the thyroid lobe or the isthmus were more likely to experience CLNM(P < 0.05). Univariate analyses indicated that CLNM, LLNM, extrathyroidal extension, and multifocality were not significantly associated with BRAF^(V600E) mutation.Conclusions: The present study suggested that prophylactic neck dissection of the central compartment should be considered in patients with PTMC, particularly in men with tumor size greater than 6 mm, age less than 45 years, extrathyroidal extension, and tumor bilaterality. Among patients with PTMC, BRAF^(V600E) mutation is not significantly associated with prognostic factors. 3Roux-en-Y choledochojejunostomy using novel magnetic compressive anastomats in canine model of obstructive jaundice显示文摘BACKGROUND:The traditional hand-sewn Roux-en-Y choledochojejunostomy is technically complicated,and the incidence of postoperative complications has remained high.A set of novel magnetic compressive anastomats was introduced to facilitate choledochojejunostomy and improve the prognosis of patients.METHODS:After ligating the common bile duct for 7 days,16 dogs were randomly divided into two groups (n=8 per group).Anastomats were used in the study group,and the traditional hand-sewn method was used in the control group for standard Roux-en-Y choledochojejunostomy.We compared the operation time,incidence of complications,gross appearance,and pathological disparity in stoma between the two groups in 1-month and 3-month follow-up examinations.RESULTS:The time spent on constructing the anastomosis for the study group was significantly shortened.Although no anastomotic stenosis occurred in the two groups,the narrowing rate of biliary-enteric anastomosis was much higher in the control group.There was one case of bile leakage in the control group,whereas no bile leakage occurred in the study group.A smoother surface,an improved layer apposition,and a lower local inflammatory response were identified in the anastomosis of the study group.CONCLUSION:The structures of the novel magnetic compressive anastomats are simple,and they are time-saving,safe and efficient for performing Roux-en-Y choledocho- jejunostomy procedures in a canine model of obstructive jaundice.Chao Fan,Xiao-Peng Yan,Shi-Qi Liu,Chun-Bao Wang,Jian-Hui Li,Liang Yu,Zheng Wu and Yi Lv Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery and Department of Pathology,First Affiliated Hospital,School of Medicine,Xi’an Jiaotong University,Xi’an 710061,China Department of Surgical Oncology,Third Affiliated Hospital,School of Medicine,Xi’an Jiaotong University,Xi’an 710068,China 2012Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2012,11,1:49
4Developing the Science Product Algorithm Testbed for Chinese Next-Generation Geostationary Meteorological Satellites:Fengyun-4 Series显示文摘Fengyun-4A(FY-4A), the first of the Chinese next-generation geostationary meteorological satellites, launched in2016, offers several advances over the FY-2: more spectral bands, faster imaging, and infrared hyperspectral measurements. To support the major objective of developing the prototypes of FY-4 science algorithms, two science product algorithm testbeds for imagers and sounders have been developed by the scientists in the FY-4 Algorithm Working Group(AWG). Both testbeds, written in FORTRAN and C programming languages for Linux or UNIX systems, have been tested successfully by using Intel/g compilers. Some important FY-4 science products, including cloud mask, cloud properties, and temperature profiles, have been retrieved successfully through using a proxy imager, Himawari-8/Advanced Himawari Imager(AHI), and sounder data, obtained from the Atmospheric Infra Red Sounder, thus demonstrating their robustness. 6Influence of pore structures on the mechanical behavior of low-permeability sandstones:numerical reconstruction and analysis显示文摘The research of rock properties based on its inherent microscopic to mesoscopic porous structure has drawn great attention for its potential in predicting the macroscopic behavior of rocks.An accurate reconstruction of the threedimensional porous structure is a premise for the related studies of hydraulic and mechanical properties of rocks,such as the transport properties and mechanical responses under pressures.In this paper,we present a computer procedure for reconstructing the 3D porous structure of low-permeability sandstone.Two large-size 3D models are reconstructed based on the information of a reference model which is established from computed tomography(CT)images.A self-developed finite element method is applied to analyze the nonlinear mechanical behavior of the sandstone based on its reconstructed model and to compare the results with those based on the reference model.The good consistency of the obtained mechanical responses indicates the potential of using reconstruction models to predict the influences of porous structure on the mechanical properties of low-permeability sandstone.Jiangtao Zheng Yang Ju Xi Zhao 2014International Journal of Coal Science & Technology2014,1,3:34
7The global image of the Moon obtained by the Chang'E-1:Data processing and lunar cartography显示文摘The global lunar image of the first phase of Chinese Lunar Exploration Program is the first image that covered all over the surface of the Moon. It will serve as a critical foundation for succeeding exploration and scientific research. In this paper, the acquisition, characteristics, and data quality of Chang'E-1 CCD image data are described in detail. Also described are the methodology and procedure of data processing. According to rule of planetary cartography, the image data have been processed, geometrically corrected, and then mosaicked and merged in a scale of 1:2.5 million. The results of data processing and charting show that the image data of Chang'E-1 CCD and their geometric precision meet the demand of charting a map in the scale of 1:2.5 million. The relative geometric positioning precision of the global image is better than 240 m, and the absolute geometric positioning precision is slightly better than that of the ULCN2005 and Clementine lunar basemap (V2.0). The plane positioning precision is approximately 100-1500 m. 9Prediction of cervical lymph node metastases in papillary thyroid microcarcinoma by sonographic features of the primary site显示文摘Objective: To study the sonographic features of the primary site of papillary thyroid microcarcinoma(PTMC) for the prediction of cervical lymph node metastasis during preoperative diagnosis.Methods: A total of 710 PTMC patients between 2013 and 2016 with a diagnosis of cervical lymph node metastases were reviewed.We analyzed the sonographic features of the PTMC primary site to predict ipsilateral or central lymph node metastases in univariate and multivariate models.The ratio of abutment/perimeter of the PTMC primary site was utilized to evaluate cervical lymph node status.Results: Regarding clinical characteristics, multifocality and extrathyroidal extension were associated with cervical lymph node involvement.In the multivariate regression model, calcification and the abutment/perimeter ratio of lesions were evaluated as independent factors in level Ⅵ, ipsilateral or skip cervical lymph node metastases.The cut-off value of the ratio of abutment/perimeter of the PTMC primary site(25%) was significantly correlated with cervical lymph node metastases(P = 0.000).Conclusions: Independent sonographic features, including lesion size, lesion location, calcification, and the ratio of abutment/perimeter of the primary site, were associated with cervical lymph node metastases in PTMC patients.Xi Wei Meng Wang Xiaoqing Wang Xiangqian Zheng Ying Li Yi Pan Yueguo Li Jiali Mu Yang Yu Dapeng Li Ming Gao Sheng Zhang 2019Cancer Biology & Medicine2019,16,3:22
10An implantable rat liver tumor model for experimental transarterial chemoembolization therapy and its imaging features显示文摘AIM: To establish an ideal implantable rat liver tumor model for interventional therapy study and examine its angiographic signs and MRI, CT features before and after embolization. METHODS: Forty male Wistar rats were implanted with Walker256 tumor in the left lateral lobe of liver. Digital subtraction angiography (DSA) and transarterial chemoembolization were performed on day 14 after implantation. Native computer tomography (CT, n=8) and native magnetic resonance (MR,n=40) were performed between the day 8 and day 21 after implantation. The radiological morphological characteristics were correlated with histological findings.RESULTS: Successful implantation was achieved in all forty rats, which was confirmed by CT and MRI. MR allowed tumor visualization from day 8 while CT from day 11 after implantation. The tumors were hypodensity on CT, hypointense on MR T1-weighted and hyperintense on T2-weighted. The model closely resembled human hepatocardnoma in growth pattem and the lesions were rich in vasculature on angiography and got its filling mainly from the hepatic artery. Before therapy, tumor size was 211.9±48.7 mm3. No ascites, satellite liver nodules or lung metastasis were found. One week after therapy, tumor size was 963.6±214.8 mm3 in the control group and 356.5±78.4mm3 in TACE group. Ascites (4/40), satellite liver nodules (7/40) or lung metastasis (3/40) could be seen on day 21.CONCLUSION: Walker-256 tumor rat model is suitable for the interventional experiment. 11Influence of transarterial chemoembolization on angiogenesis and expression of vascular endothelial growth factor and basic fibroblast growth factor in rat with Walker-256 transplanted hepatoma:An experimental study显示文摘AIM: After transarterial chemoembolization (TACE), the residual cancer cells are under extensive hypoxic or even anoxic environment. Hypoxia can lead to adaptive responses.For example, angiogenesis will help these cells survive. In this study, we examined the effect of TACE on angiogenesis and expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)and basic fibroblast growth factor (b-FGF) and to assess their relevance to Walker-256 transplanted hepatoma.METHODS: Male Wistar rats were inoculated with Walker256 tumor in the left lobe of liver. Angiography and transarterial chemoembolization were performed at d14 after transplantation. Sixty rats bearing walker-256 transplanted hepatoma were randomly divided into control group, arterial infusion group and TACE group. Each group consisted of twenty rats. Normal saline, 5-Fu, 5-Fu and lipiodol were infused through hepatic artery respectively. Two weeks after the infusion, staining of factor Ⅷ, VEGF and b-FGF was performed by immunohistochemistry method in routine paraffin-embeded sections. Microvessel density(MVD) was counted in endothelial cells with positive factor Ⅷ. Their expression levels were analyzed in conjunction with the pathologic features.RESULTS: While a smaller tumor volume was found in TACE group (F=37.818, P<0.001), no statistical differences between MVD and expression of VEGF and b-FGF were found among the 3 groups. MVD of the control group, chemotherapy group and chemoemoblization group was 80.84±24.24,83.05±20.29 and 85.20±23.91 (F=0.193, P=0.873),respectively. The positive expression of VEGF and b-FGF was 75 %, 75 % , 85 % (X2=0.449, P=0.799) and 30 %,25 %, 30 % (X2=0.141, P=0.922), respectively. 13Precise nanomedicine for intelligent therapy of cancer显示文摘Precise nanomedicine has been extensively explored for efficient cancer imaging and targeted cancer therapy, as evidenced by a few breakthroughs in their preclinical and clinical explorations. Here, we demonstrate the recent advances of intelligent cancer nanomedicine, and discuss the comprehensive understanding of their structure-function relationship for smart and efficient cancer nanomedicine including various imaging and therapeutic applications, as well as nanotoxicity. In particular, a few emerging strategies that have advanced cancer nanomedicine are also highlighted as the emerging focus such as tumor imprisonment, supramolecular chemotherapy, and DNA nanorobot. The challenge and outlook of some scientific and engineering issues are also discussed in future development. 14Wall Sticking of High Water-Cut, Highly Viscous and High Gel-Point Crude Oil Transported at Low Temperatures显示文摘Some crude oils with high water cut have the capability to flow below the oil gel point, while the oil particles adhere to the pipe wall in the form of paste, also called 'wall sticking'. Wall sticking is a serious problem during the pipeline transportation, leading to partial or total blockage of the pipeline and energy wastage. In this paper, a series of laboratory flow loop experiments were conducted to observe the wall sticking characteristics of crude oil with high water cut, high viscosity and high gel point at low transportation temperatures. The effects of shear stress and water cut on the wall sticking rate and occurrence temperature were investigated. Experimental results indicated that the wall sticking rate and occurrence temperature were lower under stronger shear stress and higher water cut conditions. A criterion of wall sticking occurrence temperature(WSOT) and a regression model of wall sticking rate were then established. Finally, the software was developed to calculate the pressure drop along the pipelines of crude oils with high water-cut. It was able to predict the wall sticking thickness of gelled oil and then calculate the pressure drop along the pipelines. 15Plasmacytoid Dendritic Cells Act as the Most Competent Cell Type in Linking Antiviral Innate and Adaptive Immune Responses显示文摘Appropriate in vivo control of plasmacytoid dendritic cell (pDC) recruitment and activation is a fundamental requirement for defense against viral infection. During this process, a pivotal event that influences the outcome of viral infection is the production of high levels of type I interferon by pDCs. In particular, recent research findings showed that pDCs not only shape the nature of innate resistance, but are also responsible for the successful transition from innate to adaptive immunity for viral resistance. In addition, pDCs can differentiate into antigen presenting cells that may regulate tolerance to a given pathogen. Importantly, in a series of recent clinical studies,pDCs appeared to be defective in number and function in conditions of chronic viral diseases such as infected with HIV-1, HBV or HCV. pDC-associated clinical antiviral therapy is also emerging. 17Pollution characteristics of atmospheric dustfall and heavy metals in a typical inland heavy industry city in China显示文摘Through field sampling of atmospheric dustfall in regions of Zhuzhou City, China for a period of one year, the deposition fluxes of atmospheric dustfall and five heavy metals contained inside, including Cr, As, Cd, Hg and Pb, were analyzed. Meanwhile the enrichment factor and index methods were used to analyze the pollution characteristics of heavy metals of atmospheric dustfall in Zhuzhou. The annual deposition flux of atmospheric dustfall in Zhuzhou was 50.79 g/(m^2·year), while the annual deposition fluxes of Cr, As, Cd, Hg and Pb were 9.80, 59.69, 140.09, 0.87 and 1074.91 mg/(m^2·year), respectively.The pollution level of atmospheric dustfall in Zhuzhou was relatively lower compared with most other cities in China, but the deposition fluxes of As, Cd, Hg and Pb in atmospheric dustfall in Zhuzhou were much higher than that in most cities and regions around the world. Cd is the typical heavy metal element in atmospheric dustfall in Zhuzhou, and both the enrichment factor and pollution index of Cd were the highest. Cd, Hg, Pb and As in atmospheric dustfall were mainly from human activities. According to the single-factor index, Nemerow index and pollution load index analyses, the atmospheric dustfall in Zhuzhou could easily cause severe heavy metal pollution to urban soil, and the most polluting element was Cd, followed by Pb, As and Hg. 18Effects of viral infection and microbial diversity on patients with sepsis:A retrospective study based on metagenomic next-generation sequencing显示文摘BACKGROUND: The study aims to investigate the performance of a metagenomic next-generationsequencing (NGS)-based diagnostic technique for the identifi cation of potential bacterial and viral infectionsand eff ects of concomitant viral infection on the survival rate of intensive care unit (ICU) sepsis patients.METHODS: A total of 74 ICU patients with sepsis who were admitted to our institution from February1, 2018 to June 30, 2019 were enrolled. Separate blood samples were collected from patients for bloodcultures and metagenomic NGS when the patients’ body temperature was higher than 38 °C. Patients’demographic data, including gender, age, ICU duration, ICU scores, and laboratory results, were recorded.The correlations between pathogen types and sepsis severity and survival rate were evaluated.RESULTS: NGS produced higher positive results (105 of 118;88.98%) than blood cultures(18 of 118;15.25%) over the whole study period. Concomitant viral infection correlated closelywith sepsis severity and had the negative effect on the survival of patients with sepsis. However,correlation analysis indicated that the bacterial variety did not correlate with the severity of sepsis.CONCLUSIONS: Concurrent viral load correlates closely with the severity of sepsis and thesurvival rate of the ICU sepsis patients. 20Use of curcumin in diagnosis,prevention,and treatment of Alzheimer's disease显示文摘This review summarizes and describes the use of curcumin in diagnosis,prevention,and treatment of Alzheimer's disease.For diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease,amyloid-β and highly phosphorylated tau protein are the major biomarkers.Curcumin was developed as an early diagnostic probe based on its natural fluorescence and high binding affinity to amyloid-β.Because of its multi-target effects,curcumin has protective and preventive effects on many chronic diseases such as cerebrovascular disease,hypertension,and hyperlipidemia.For prevention and treatment of Alzheimer's disease,curcumin has been shown to effectively maintain the normal structure and function of cerebral vessels,mitochondria,and synapses,reduce risk factors for a variety of chronic diseases,and decrease the risk of Alzheimer's disease.The effect of curcumin on Alzheimer's disease involves multiple signaling pathways:anti-amyloid and metal iron chelating properties,antioxidation and anti-inflammatory activities.Indeed,there is a scientific basis for the rational application of curcumin in prevention and treatment of Alzheimer's disease.Min Chen Zhi-Yun Du Xi Zheng Dong-Li Li Ren-Ping Zhou Kun Zhang 2018Neural Regeneration Research2018,13,4:13
