1A life support-based comprehensive treatment regimen dramatically lowers the in-hospital mortality of patients with fulminant myocarditis: a multiple center study显示文摘Fulminant myocarditis(FM) has unacceptable high mortality. This study aimed to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of a life support-based comprehensive treatment regimen(LSBCTR), a completely novel treatment regimen, for FM. A total of 169 FM patients recruited from January 2008 to December 2018 were divided into two groups: patients receiving LSBCTR(81 cases),which includes(i) mechanical life support(positive pressure respiration, intra-aortic balloon pump with or without extracorporeal membrane oxygenation),(ii) immunomodulation therapy using sufficient doses of glucocorticoids and immunoglobulins, and(iii) application of neuraminidase inhibitors, and those receiving conventional treatment(88 cases). The endpoints were in-hospital death and heart-transplantation. Of all the population, 44 patients(26.0%) died in hospitals. Inhospital mortality was 3.7%(3/81) for LSBCTR group and 46.6%(41/88) for traditional treatment(P<0.001). Early application of LSBCTR, mechanical life support, neuraminidase inhibitors, and immunomodulation therapy significantly contributed to reduction in in-hospital mortality. This study describes a novel treatment regimen for FM patients that dramatically reduces inhospital mortality. 4Precise nanomedicine for intelligent therapy of cancer显示文摘Precise nanomedicine has been extensively explored for efficient cancer imaging and targeted cancer therapy, as evidenced by a few breakthroughs in their preclinical and clinical explorations. Here, we demonstrate the recent advances of intelligent cancer nanomedicine, and discuss the comprehensive understanding of their structure-function relationship for smart and efficient cancer nanomedicine including various imaging and therapeutic applications, as well as nanotoxicity. In particular, a few emerging strategies that have advanced cancer nanomedicine are also highlighted as the emerging focus such as tumor imprisonment, supramolecular chemotherapy, and DNA nanorobot. The challenge and outlook of some scientific and engineering issues are also discussed in future development. 5Can acupuncture therapy reduce preoperative anxiety?A systematic review and meta-analysis显示文摘Background:Acupuncture therapy has shown promise for effectively relieving preoperative anxiety.Nevertheless,previous findings from randomized controlled trials(RCTs)are inconsistent and must be examined in detail.Objective:This study systematically evaluates the efficacy and safety of acupuncture therapy for preoperative anxiety as well as the quality of evidence supporting this application.Search strategy:The China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database,Wanfang Data Journal Database,Chinese Biomedical Literature Database,Chongqing VIP,Embase,Pub Med and Cochrane Library Databases were queried from their inception to 19,February 2020,using keywords such as“acupuncture therapy,”“preoperative”and“anxioty.”Manual searches expanded the search breadth and included conference abstracts and other reference lists.Inclusion criteria:RCTs were included in the current study if they contained a comparison between a group of anxiety patients that received acupuncture therapy and a control group that received sham acupuncture.Data extraction and analysis:Literature was reviewed,and various articles were selected using the Note Express 3.2.0 software.Two researchers independently screened and extracted data and evaluated the risk of bias in the included studies.The Rev Man 5.3 software was used for data aggregation and the Grades of Recommendation,Assessment,Development and Evaluation(GRADE)assessment was used to evaluate the quality of the study outcomes.Results:Twelve studies were included in the review,containing a total of 916 patients.Meta-analysis showed that,compared with the control group,patients who received acupuncture therapy had reduced State-Trait Anxiety Inventory Scale(STAI-S)score(mean difference[MD]=–9.07,95%confidence interval[CI][–13.19 to–4.96],P<0.0001)and Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)score(MD=–1.37,95%CI[–2.29 to–0.45],P=0.003).However,for the Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA)score,there was no difference between the two groups(MD=–3.98,95%CI[–12.89 to 4.92],P=0.38).Further,the GRADE assessment demonstrated that the STAI-S was of moderate quality,the VAS of low quality and the HAMA of very low quality.Conclusion:Acupuncture therapy may be able to decrease anxiety in preoperative patients,but the results need to be further verified due to the small sample sizes and the low quality of evidence to date.Qiu-yu Tong Ran Liu Kun Zhang Yuan G ao Guang-wei Cui Wei-dong Shen 2021Journal of Integrative Medicine2021,19,1:15
6Inactivation of Cryptosporidium by ozone and cell ultrastructures显示文摘The fluorescence staining method and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used to study the effect of ozone (O3) inactivating Cryptosporidium in water and cell ultrastructures variation to shed light on the mechanism of inactivation preliminarily.Results indicated that O3 had a stronger inactivating capability.When the concentration of O3 was above 3.0 mg/L and the contact time was up to 7 min,a significant inactivating effect could be achieved.The turbidity on inactivation effects was also found to be statistically significant in artificial water.With increases in turbidity,the inactivating effect decreased.Inactivation rate improved with a temperature increase from 5 to 25°C,but decreased beyond this.The inactivating capability of O3 was found to be stronger under acidic than that under alkalic conditions.When the concentration of organic matter in the reaction system was increased,the competition between Cryptosporidium and organics with O3 probably took place,thereby reducing the inactivation rate.In addition,the cellular morphology of Cryptosporidium varied with different contact times.At zero contact time,cells were rotundity and sphericity,at 60 sec they became folded,underwent emboly,and burst at 480 sec,the cell membrane of Cryptosporidium shrinked and collapsed completely.Zhilin Ran Shaofeng Li Junli Huang Yixing Yuan Chongwei Cui Craig Denver Williams 2010Journal of Environmental Sciences2010,22,12:11
7Analyses of Dry Intrusion and Instability during a Heavy Rainfall Event that Occurred in Northern China显示文摘The 1°×1° National Center for Environmental Prediction/National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCEP/NCAR) data and mesoscale numerical simulation data are analyzed to reveal a mechanism for the formation of heavy rainfall in Northern China; this mechanism is the non-uniformly saturated instability induced by a dry intrusion. The dry intrusion and the accompanying down-ward transport of air with a high value of potential vorticity (PV) are maintained during the precipitation event. As the dry air intrudes down into the warm and moist sector in the lower troposphere, the cold, dry air and the warm, moist air mix with each other, and, as a result, the atmosphere becomes non-uniformly saturated. On the basis of this non-uniform saturation, a new Brunt Visl frequency (BVF) formula is derived and applied to the precipitation event. 11Experiment and numerical simulation of melt convection and oxygen distribution in 400-mm Czochralski silicon crystal growth显示文摘Single-crystalline silicon materials with large dimensions have been widely used as assemblies in plasma silicon etching machines.However,information about large-diameter low-cost preparation technology has not been sufficiently reported.In this paper,it was focused on the preparation of 400-mm silicon(100) crystal lightly doped with boron from 28-in.hot zones.Resistivity uniformity and oxygen concentration of the silicon crystal were investigated by direct-current(DC) four-point probes method and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),respectively.The global heat transfer,melt flow and oxygen distribution were calculated by finite element method(FEM).The results show that 28-in.hot zones can replace conventional 32 in.ones to grow 400-mm-diameter silicon single crystals.The change in crucible diameter can save energy,reduce cost and improve efficiency.The trend of oxygen distribution obtained in calculations is in good agreement with experimental values.The present model can well predict the 400-mm-diameter silicon crystal growth and is essential for the optimization of furnace design and process condition.Ran Teng Yang Li Bin Cui Qing Chang Qing-Hua Xiao Guo-Hu Zhang 2017Rare Metals2017,36,2:6

14Advancement in separation materials for blood purification therapy显示文摘Blood purification refers to the extra corporeal therapies of removing potentially toxic substances, in which blood is circulated through an adsorption system loading separation materials. High-efficient inexpensive separation materials are critical to success. In this review, separation materials such as polymers and nanomaterials are summarized and compared. Combining the advantages of the adsorptive membranes and nanomaterials, organic–inorganic hybrid/blend membranes have been developed explosively. These hybrid/blend membranes have both the characteristics of high permeability, easy fabrication, good biocompatibility of adsorptive membranes, and characteristics of fast adsorption rate and high adsorption capacity of nanomaterials. The preparation and modification methodology of the separation materials is reviewed. For affinity separation materials, the relationship of ligand chemistry, ligand density and pores of the matrix is discussed. 15Soil microbial community composition and its driving factors in alpine grasslands along a mountain elevational gradient显示文摘Understanding the vertical distribution patterns of soil microbial community and its driving factors in alpine grasslands in the humid regions of the Tibet Plateau might be of great significance for predicting the soil microbial community of this type of vegetation in response to environmental change.Using phospholipid fatty acids(PLFA),we investigated soil microbial community composition along an elevational gradient(3094~4131 m above sea level) on Mount Yajiageng,and we explored the impact of plant functional groups and soil chemistry on the soil microbial community.Except for Arbuscular Mycorrhizal fungi(AM fungi) biomarker18:2ω6,9 increasing significantly,other biomarkers did not show a consistent trend with the elevational gradient.Microbial biomass quantified by total PLFAs did not show the elevational trend and had mean values ranging from 1.64 to 4.09 μmol per g organic carbon(OC),which had the maximum value at the highest site.Bacterial PLFAs exhibited a similar trend with total PLFAs,and its mean values ranged from0.82 to 1.81 μmol(g OC)^(-1).The bacterial to fungal biomass ratios had the minimum value at the highest site,which might be related to temperature and soil total nitrogen(TN).The ratios of Gram-negative to Gram-positive bacteria had a significantly negative correlation with soil TN and had the maximum value at the highest site.Leguminous plant coverage and soil TN explained 58% of the total variation in the soil microbial community and could achieve the same interpretation as the whole model.Other factors may influence the soil microbial community through interaction with leguminous plant coverage and soil TN.Soil chemistry and plant functional group composition in substantial amounts explained different parts of the variation within the soil microbial community,and the interaction between them had no impact on the soil microbial community maybe because long-term grazing greatly reduces litter.In sum,although there were obvious differences in soil microbial communities along the elevation gradient,there were no clear elevational trends found in general.Plant functional groups and soil chemistry respectively affect the different aspects of soil microbial community.Leguminous plant coverage and soil TN had important effects in shaping soil microbial community.CUI Hai-jun WANG Gen-xu YANG Yan YANG Yang CHANG Rui-ying RAN Fei 2016Journal of Mountain Science2016,13,6:5
16Zn-doping enhances the photoluminescence and stability of PbS quantum dots for in vivo high-resolution imaging in the NIR-II window显示文摘Lead sulfide(PbS)quantum dots(QDs)are important near infrared(NIR)luminescent materials with tunable and strong emission covering a broad NIR region.However,their optical properties are quite sensitive to air,water,and high temperature due to the surface oxidation,thus limiting their applications in optoelectronic devices and biological imaging.Herein,a cation-doping strategy is presented to make a series of high-quality Zn-doped PbS QDs with strong emission covering whole second near-infrared window(NIR-II,1,000-1,700 nm).First-principle calculations confirmed that Zn dopants formed dopant states and decreased the recombination energy gap of host PbS.Notably,the Zn dopants significantly improved the quantum yield,photoluminescence lifetime and thermal stability of PbS QDs.Moreover,the PEGylated Zn-doped PbS QDs emitting in the NIR-llb window(1,500-1,700 nm)realized the noninvasive imaging of cerebral vascular of mouse with high resolution,being able to distinguish blood capillary.This material not only provides a new tool for deep tissue fluorescence imaging,but is also promising for the development of other NIR related devices.Xiulei Shi Song Chen Meng-Yao Luo Biao Huang Guozhen Zhang Ran Cui Mingxi Zhang 2020Nano Research2020,13,8:5

18Functional assembly of root-associated microbial consortia improves nutrient efficiency and yield in soybean显示文摘Root-associated microbes are critical for plant growth and nutrient acquisition. However, scant information exists on optimizing communities of beneficial root-associated microbes or the mechanisms underlying their interactions with host plants. In this report, we demonstrate that rootassociated microbes are critical influencers of host plant growth and nutrient acquisition. Three synthetic communities(SynComs) were constructed based on functional screening of 1,893 microbial strains isolated from root-associated compartments of soybean plants. Functional assemblage of SynComs promoted significant plant growth and nutrient acquisition under both N/P nutrient deficiency and sufficiency conditions.Field trials further revealed that application of SynComs stably and significantly promoted plant growth, facilitated N and P acquisition, and subsequently increased soybean yield. Among the tested communities, SynCom1 exhibited the greatest promotion effect, with yield increases of up to 36.1% observed in two field sites. Further RNA-seq implied that SynCom application systemically regulates N and P signaling networks at the transcriptional level, which leads to increased representation of important growth pathways, especially those related to auxin responses. 19Serine metabolism orchestrates macrophage polarization by regulating the IGF1–p38 axis显示文摘Serine metabolism is reportedly involved in immune cell functions, but whether and how serine metabolism regulates macrophage polarization remain largely unknown. Here, we show that suppressing serine metabolism, either by inhibiting the activity of the key enzyme phosphoglycerate dehydrogenase in the serine biosynthesis pathway or by exogenous serine and glycine restriction, robustly enhances the polarization of interferon-γ-activated macrophages (M(IFN-γ)) but suppresses that of interleukin-4-activated macrophages (M(IL-4)) both in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistically, serine metabolism deficiency increases the expression of IGF1 by reducing the promoter abundance of S-adenosyl methionine-dependent histone H3 lysine 27 trimethylation. IGF1 then activates the p38-dependent JAK–STAT1 axis to promote M(IFN-γ) polarization and suppress STAT6-mediated M(IL-4) activation. 20Bioinspired hierarchical helical nanocomposite macrofibers based on bacterial cellulose nanofibers显示文摘Bio-sourced nanocellulosic materials are promising candidates for spinning high-performance sustainable macrofibers for advanced applications.Various strategies have been pursued to gain nanocellulose-based macrofibers with improved strength.However,nearly all of them have been achieved at the expense of their elongation and toughness.Inspired by the widely existed hierarchical helical and nanocomposite structural features in biosynthesized fibers exhibiting exceptional combinations of strength and toughness,we report a design strategy to make nanocellulose-based macrofibers with similar characteristics.By combining a facile wet-spinning process with a subsequent multiple wet-twisting procedure,we successfully obtain biomimetic hierarchical helical nanocomposite macrofibers based on bacterial cellulose nanofibers,realizing impressive improvement in their tensile strength,elongation and toughness simultaneously.The achievement certifies the validity of the bioinspired hierarchical helical and nanocomposite structural design proposed here.This bioinspired design strategy provides a potential platform for further optimizing or creating many more strong and tough nanocomposite fiber materials for diverse applications.Huai-Ling Gao Ran Zhao Chen Cui Yin-Bo Zhu Si-Ming Chen Zhao Pan Yu-Feng Meng Shao-Meng Wen Chuang Liu Heng-An Wu Shu-Hong Yu 2020National Science Review2020,7,1:4
