| 1 | Preparation and Characterization of High-Strength Geopolymer Based on BH-1 Lunar Soil Simulant with Low Alkali Content显示文摘The construction of a lunar base and habitation on the Moon has always been on researchers’minds.Building materials used in in situ lunar resources are of great significance for saving expensive space freight.In this study,a new type of lunar soil simulant named Beihang(BH)-1 was developed.The chemical mineral composition and microstructure of BH-1 closely resemble those of real lunar soil,as verified by X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy(XRF),X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),and reflectance spectra.This research also synthesized a geopolymer based on BH-1 cured at simulated lunar atmospheric conditions.We also investigated the effect of supplementing aluminum(Al)sources on the enhancement of geopolymer strength based on BH-1.The rheological behavior of alkali-activated BH-1 pastes was determined for workability.XRF,XRD,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,SEM coupled with energy dispersive spectroscopy,and 27Al magic angle spinningnuclear magnetic resonance were used to characterize resulting geopolymers.Rheological test findings showed that the rheology of BH-1 pastes fits the Herschel–Bulkley model,and they behaved like a shear-thinning fluid.The results showed that the 28-day compressive strength of the BH-1 geopolymer was improved by up to 100.8%.Meanwhile,the weight of additives required to produce per unit strength decreased,significantly reducing the mass of materials transported from the Earth for the construction of lunar infrastructure and saving space transportation costs.Microscopic analyses showed that the mechanism to improve the mechanical properties of the BH-1 geopolymer by adding an additional Al source enhances the replacement of silicon atoms by Al atoms in the silicon–oxygen group and generates a more complete and dense amorphous gel structure. | Siqi Zhou Chenghong Lu Xingyi Zhu Feng Li | 2021 | Engineering2021,7,11: | 6 |
| 2 | Synthesis and characterization of geopolymer from lunar regolith simulant based on natural volcanic scoria显示文摘In this study,a new GVS(Ground Volcanic Scoria)lunar regolith simulant was produced.The similarity between GVS and lunar soil was proved by comparison with Apollo lunar soil samples and other commercial lunar soil simulants.Then,GVS lunar regolith simulant was investigated as the source material for preparing geopolymer to produce building material for lunar colony construction.To study the possibility of preparing geopolymer from GVS lunar regolith simulant and the optimum activator formulation as well as the optimum curing conditions,alkaline activated GVS slurries with different mixing ratios based on an orthogonal test scheme were prepared.The geopolymer products based on GVS were characterized by flexural strength test,compressive strength test,X-ray fluorescence(XRF),X-ray diffraction(XRD),Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy(FTIR),Scanning Electron Microscope coupled with Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy(SEM-EDS),29Si magic angle spinning-nuclear magnetic resonance(29Si MAS-NMR),and 27Al MAS-NMR.The experimental results indicate that changes in the mass ratio of sodium hydroxide and GVS and curing temperature have the most significant influence on the flexural strength and compressive strength,respectively.The GVS-based geopolymer can obtain the highest 28-day compressive strength and 28-day flexural strength up to 75.6 MPa and 6.3 MPa.Microstructural results imply that the changes of Si occurring in a variety of environments that explaining preliminarily about the reaction mechanism of GVS-based geopolymer.This study approves the feasibility of making a geopolymer derived from the GVS lunar regolith simulant and the potential utilization of geopolymer based on lunar regolith for construction of the lunar colony in future space exploration. | Siqi ZHOU Xingyi ZHU Chenghong LU Feng LI | 2022 | Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2022,35,1: | 6 |
| 3 | Determination of the archaeal and bacterial communities in two-phase and single-stage anaerobic systems by 454 pyrosequencing显示文摘2-Phase anaerobic digestion(AD), where the acidogenic phase was operated at 2 day hydraulic retention time(HRT) and the methanogenic phase at 10 days HRT, had been evaluated to determine if it could provide higher organic reduction and methane production than the conventional single-stage AD(also operated at 12 days HRT). 454 pyrosequencing was performed to determine and compare the microbial communities. The acidogenic reactor of the 2-phase system yielded a unique bacterial community of the lowest richness and diversity, while bacterial profiles of the methanogenic reactor closely followed the single-stage reactor. All reactors were predominated by hydrogenotrophic methanogens, mainly Methanolinea. Unusually, the acidogenic reactor contributed up to 24%of total methane production in the 2-phase system. This could be explained by the presence of Methanosarcina and Methanobrevibacter, and their activities could also help regulate reactor alkalinity during high loading conditions through carbon dioxide production. The enrichment of hydrolytic and acidogenic Porphyromonadaceae, Prevotellaceae, Ruminococcaceae and unclassified Bacteroidetes in the acidogenic reactor would have contributed to the improved sludge volatile solids degradation, and ultimately the overall 2-phase system's performance. Syntrophic acetogenic microorganisms were absent in the acidogenic reactor but present in the downstream methanogenic reactor, indicating the retention of various metabolic pathways also found in a single-stage system. | 5 | Global optimal polynomial approximation for parametric problems in power systems显示文摘The influence of parameters on system states for parametric problems in power systems is to be evaluated.These parameters could be renewable generation outputs,load factor, etc. Polynomial approximation has been applied to express the nonlinear relationship between system states and parameters, governed by the nonlinear and implicit equations. Usually, sampling-based methods are applied, e.g., data fitting methods and sensitivity methods,etc. However, the accuracy and stability of these methods are not guaranteed. This paper proposes an innovative method based on Galerkin method, providing global optimal approximation. Compared to traditional methods, this method enjoys high accuracy and stability. | 11 | Transcriptome Profiling of Barley Cultivar Hua 30 MDEC in Response to Agrobacterium Infection显示文摘Agrobacterium-mediated transformation has been widely used in plants.However,the mechanism in plant cells’response to Agrobacterium infection was very complex.The mechanism of the determinants in host cell remains obscure,especially in barley,which is recalcitrant for Agrobacterium-mediated transformation.In the present study,microspore-derived embryogenic calli(MDEC)from barley elite cultivar were employed as unique subjects to characterize the mechanisms during the Agrobacterium infection process.Hua 30 MDEC can be successfully infected by Agrobacterium.RNA-sequencing at different infection points(0,2,6,12,24 hpi)was performed.The average expressional intensity of the whole genomics increased from 0 to 2 hpi,and then decreased subsequently.More upregulated than downregulated differentially expressed genes(DEGs)were counted at the same time.GO enrichment analysis showed that protein modification was significantly overrepresented in upregulated DEGs.Chromosome-related biological processes,gene expression and cellular metabolic processes were significantly overrepresented in downregulated DEGs.KEGG analysis showed that plant defense responses,phenylpropanoid biosynthesis and biosynthesis of amino acids were significantly enriched across the infection time course.Nine DEGs related to defense responses were identified.All DEGs were upregulated from 2 to 24 hpi.We speculate that these genes are possibly related to Agrobacterium infection.These findings will provide deep insights into the molecular events occurring during the process of Agrobacterium-mediated transformation. | Yingbo Li Ting He Guimei Guo Hongwei Xu Yingjie Zong Shuwei Zhang Ruiju Lu Longhua Zhou Chenghong Liu | 2022 | Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2022,91,6: | 0 |
| 12 | Genome-Wide Identification of Candidate Genes Associated with β-glucan Traits in a Hulled and Hulless Barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) Population显示文摘Barley grain is a valuable source ofβ-glucan,which is an important component of dietary fiber with significant human health benefits.Although the genetic basis ofβ-glucan biosynthesis has been widely studied,a genome-wide association study(GWAS)is still required for a scan of the candidate genes related to the complex quantitative trait based on the high-quality barley reference genome.In this study,a GWAS was conducted using a population composed of 87 barley landraces(39 hulled and 48 hulless,β-glucan from 2.07%to 6.56%)with 191,098 nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)markers to cover the chromosomes with the highest density.The population was divided into four sub-populations(POP1~POP4),and theβ-glucan content in POP2 was significantly higher than that in other groups,in which most of the hulless barley landraces are from Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in China.Among seven SNP markers identified by GWAS,two(SNP2 and SNP3)of them showed positive correlation toβ-glucan trait and the remaining five(SNP1,SNP4,SNP5,SNP6 and SNP7)showed the negative relationship.Two candidate genes linked to SNP7,HORVU7Hr1G000320 and HORVU7Hr1G000040,belong to the nucleotide triphosphate hydrolase super-family which is probable to affect the activities ofβ-glucan synthase.Another candidate gene associated with SNP1,HORVU1Hr1G000010,is possibly involved in sugar response.In conclusion,our results provide new insights into the genetic basis ofβ-glucan accumulation in barley grains,and the discovery of new SNP markers distributed in each chromosome and the associated candidate genes will be valuable for the breeding of functional barley varieties with high β-glucan. | Longhua Zhou Ting He Guimei Guo Jing Li Ruiju Lu Yingbo Li Chenghong Liu | 2020 | Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2020,89,4: | 0 |
| 13 | Identification of (-)-bornyl diphosphate synthase from Blumea balsamifera and its application for (-)-borneol biosynthesis in Saccharomyces cerevisiae显示文摘Borneol is a precious monoterpenoid with two chiral structures,(-)-borneol and(+)-borneol.Bornyl diphosphate synthase is the key enzyme in the borneol biosynthesis pathway.Many(+)-bornyl diphosphate synthases have been reported,but no(-)-bornyl diphosphate synthases have been identified.Blumea balsamifera leaves are rich in borneol,almost all of which is(-)-borneol.In this study,we identified a high-efficiency(-)-bornyl diphosphate synthase(BbTPS3)from B.balsamifera that converts geranyl diphosphate(GPP)to(-)-bornyl diphosphate,which is then converted to(-)-borneol after dephosphorylation in vitro.BbTPS3 exhibited a K m value of 4.93±1.38μM for GPP,and the corresponding k cat value was 1.49 s−1.Multiple strategies were applied to obtain a high-yielding(-)-borneol producing yeast strain.A codon-optimized BbTPS3 protein was introduced into the GPP high-yield strain MD,and the resulting MD-B1 strain produced 1.24 mg⋅L^(-1)(-)-borneol.After truncating the N-terminus of BbTPS3 and adding a Kozak sequence,the(-)-borneol yield was further improved by 4-fold to 4.87 mg⋅L^(-1).Moreover,the(-)-borneol yield was improved by expressing the fusion protein module of ERG20 F96W-N127W-YRSQI-t14-BbTPS3K2,resulting in a final yield of 12.68 mg⋅L^(-1) in shake flasks and 148.59 mg⋅L^(-1) in a 5-L bioreactor.This work is the first reported attempt to produce(-)-borneol by microbial fermentation. | Rui Ma Ping Su Qing Ma Juan Guo Suiqing Chen Baolong Jin Haiyan Zhang Jinfu Tang Tao Zhou Chenghong Xiao Guanghong Cui Luqi Huang | 2022 | Synthetic and Systems Biotechnology2022,7,1: | 0 |
| 14 | Atrial of arbidol hydrochloride in adults with COVID-19显示文摘Background: To date, there is no effective medicine to treat coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), and the antiviral efficacy of arbidol in the treatment for COVID-19 remained equivocal and controversial. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of arbidol tablets in the treatment of COVID-19.Methods: This was a prospective, open-label, controlled and multicenter investigator-initiated trial involving adult patients with confirmed severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection. Patients were stratified 1:2 to either standard-of-care (SOC) or SOC plus arbidol tablets (oral administration of 200 mg per time, three times a day for 14 days). The primary endpoint was negative conversion of SARS-CoV-2 within the first week. The rates and 95% confidential intervals were calculated for each variable.Results: A total of 99 patients with laboratory-confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection were enrolled;66 were assigned to the SOC plus arbidol tablets group, and 33 to the SOC group. The negative conversion rate of SARS-CoV-2 within the first week in patients receiving arbidol tablets was significantly higher than that of the SOC group (70.3% [45/64]vs. 42.4% [14/33];difference of conversion rate 27.9%;95% confidence interval [CI], 7.7%-48.1%;P=0.008). Compared to those in the SOC group, patients receiving arbidol tablets had a shorter duration of clinical recovery (median 7.0 daysvs. 12.0 days;hazard ratio [HR]: 1.877, 95% CI: 1.151-3.060,P=0.006), symptom of fever (median 3.0 daysvs. 12.0 days;HR: 18.990, 95% CI: 5.350-67.410,P<0.001), as well as hospitalization (median 12.5 daysvs. 20.0 days;P<0.001). Moreover, the addition of arbidol tablets to SOC led to more rapid normalization of declined blood lymphocytes (median 10.0 daysvs. 14.5 days;P > 0.05). The most common adverse event in the arbidol tablets group was the elevation of transaminase (5/200, 2.5%), and no one withdrew from the study due to adverse events or disease progression.Conclusions: SOC plus arbidol tablets significantly increase the negative conversion rate of SARS-CoV-2 within the first week and accelerate the recovery of COVID-19 patients. | 16 | Intra-abdominal hypertension is an independent cause of acute renal failure after orthotopic liver transplantation显示文摘An independent association between acute renal failure(ARF)and intra-abdominal hypertension(IAH)after liver transplantation has not been established previously.The aim of this retrospective study was to understand the role of IAH as an independent risk factor for ARF in the early postoperative period.This study involved 62 subjects who underwent liver transplantation.Intra-abdominal pressure(IAP)was measured in the first three days after surgery by using the urinary bladder technique.An IAP of at least 20 mmHg per day was defined as IAH.Clinical parameters between group IAH and group NO-IAH were compared in terms of the incidence of ARF,blood creatinine levels,blood urea nitrogen(BUN)levels,urine volume per hour and glomerular filtration gradient(GFG).Hemodynamic variations were recorded in the first three postoperative days between group ARF and group NO-ARF.The perioperative suspected risk factors of ARF were determined for statistical evaluation using correlation coefficients and logistic regression analysis.In group IAH,45.8%patients developed ARF as against 7.9%in group NO-IAH;GFG was significantly lower at 0–72 h after surgery;and blood creatinine levels,BUN levels,urine volume per hour were significantly different at 24–72 h after surgery compared with group NO-IAH.The patients with ARF were not significantly different from those without ARF in terms of central venous pressure,pulmonary artery pressure and mean arterial pressure(MAP)in the first three postoperative days despite a significant increase in heart rate at 24–72h after operation.Postoperative IAH,intraoperative MAP and intraoperative blood transfusion volume of more than 15 U were found to be independent risk factors for ARF.IAH impaired renal function and was an independent risk factor for ARF after liver transplantation.Routine measurement should be taken to monitor IAP every eight hours postoperatively. | SHU Ming PENG Chenghong CHEN Hao SHEN Boyong ZHOU Guangwen SHEN Chuan LI Hongwei | 2007 | Frontiers of Medicine2007,1,2: | 0 |
