| 4 | A universal coherent source for quantum key distribution显示文摘We propose a concept of universal coherent source for quantum key distribution. The weak coherent pulse (WCP) and heralded single photon source (HSPS) are the most common photon sources for state-of-art quantum key distribution (QKD). However, there exists a prominent crossover between the maximal secure distance and the secure key generating rate in short and middle distance if one applies these two sources in a practical decoy state quantum key distribution. It is shown that by combining the heralded pair coherent state (HPCS) photon source and the practical decoy state method together, one can not only strengthen the maximal secure transmission distance, but also improve key generat-ing rate at short and medium distance. Moreover, the advancement in key generating is not confined in the particular protocol utilized and can be easily checked for both BB84 and SARG protocol. | 8 | Expression of Rab25 correlates with the invasion and metastasis of gastric cancer显示文摘The objective of this study was to determine the expression of the important vesicle trafficking- regulating factor Rab25 in human gastric cancer tissues, to analyze the correlation between Rab25 protein expression with gastric cancer occurrence and development, and to discuss the correlation of Rab25 protein expression with gastric cancer cell metastasis. The overall aim was to provide experimental evidence that can be used to design future biological treatments of human gastric cancer. Human gastric cancer tissue and the adjacent normal gastric tissue were surgically removed, and immunohistochemistry and Western blotting were used to detect Rab25 protein expression. The correlation between Rab25 protein expression with the development and pathological characteristics of gastric cancer was analyzed. Using RNAi, Rab25 expression was reduced in the gastric cancer cell line MGC80-3, and the changes in MGC80-3 cell invasiveness were then monitored. Immunohistochemistry showed that the Rab25 protein expression rates were 78.21% and 23.08% in gastric carcinoma and the adjacent normal gastric tissue, respectively. Immunohistochemistry and Western blot results showed that Rab25 protein expression in gastric cancer was significantly higher than in adjacent normal gastric tissues (P<0.01). Less differentiated gastric cancer cells had higher expression of Rab25 protein (P<0.01). Gastric carcinomas from patients with a late pathological stage (III-IV) had significantly higher Rab25 protein expression than early stage (I-II) patients (P<0.01). Gastric carcinomas from patients with lymph node metastasis had significantly higher Rab25 protein expression than lymph node metastasis- free patients (P<0.01). Gastric carcinomas from patients with distant metastases had significantly higher Rab25 protein expression than the distant metastasis-negative patients (P<0.01). Rab25 protein expression in gastric cancer was not affected by the patients , sex, age, or tumor size (P>0.05). MGC80-3 cells transfected with Rab25 siRNA had significantly lower Rab25 protein expression (P<0.01) and a significantly lower number of cells that passed through a Transwell chamber compared with non-transfected controls and the transfected control group (P<0.01). | 13 | A β-glucosidase-producing M-2 strain: Isolation from cow dung and fermentation parameter optimization for flaxseed cake显示文摘Flaxseed cake contains cyanogenic glucosides, which can be metabolized into hydrocyanic acid in an animal's body, leading to asphyxia poisoning in cells. Beta-glucosidase is highly efficient in degrading cyanogenic glucosides. The Cattle may have b-glucosidase-producing strains in the intestinal tract after eating small amounts of flaxseed cake for a long time. This study aimed to isolate of a strain from cow dung that produces b-glucosidase with high activity and can significantly reduce the amount of cyanogenic glucosides. We used cow dung as the microflora source and an esculin agar as the selective medium. After screening with 0.05% esculin and 0.01% ferric citrate, we isolated 5 strains producing high amounts of b-glucosidase. In vitro flaxseed cake fermentation was fermented by these 5 strains, in which the strain M-2 exerted the best effect(P < 0.05). The strain M-2 was identified as Lichtheimia ramosa and used as the fermentation strain to optimize the fermentation parameters by a single factor analysis and orthogonal experimental design. The optimum condition was as follows: inoculum size3%, water content 60%, time 144 h, and temperature 32℃. Under this condition, the removal rate of cyanogenic glucosides reached 89%, and crude protein increment reached 44%. | 14 | IL-17-triggered downregulation of miR-497 results in high HIF-1α expression and consequent IL-1β and IL-6 production by astrocytes in EAE mice显示文摘Interleukin 17(IL-17)is increasingly recognized as a key factor that contributes to the pathogenesis of multiple sclerosis(MS)and its experimental mouse autoimmune encephalomyelitis(EAE)model.However,the roles and regulatory mechanisms of IL-17-induced pro-inflammatory cytokine production in EAE mice remain largely unclear.In this study,the expression of IL-17,hypoxia inducible factor-1α(HIF-1α),IL-1β,IL-6 and microRNA-497(miR-497),as well as their intrinsic associations,was investigated using EAE model mice and cultured astrocytes exposed to IL-17 in vitro.We observed markedly increased production of IL-17,HIF-1α,IL-1βand IL-6 in the brain tissues of EAE mice,while the expression and secretion of HIF-1α,IL-1βand IL-6 were also significantly increased when cultured primary astrocytes from mice were stimulated with IL-17.Meanwhile,the expression of miR-497 was downregulated both in vivo and in vitro.Subsequent in vitro experiments revealed that IL-17 induced the production of IL-1βand IL-6 in astrocytes through the upregulation of HIF-1αas a transcriptional factor,indicating that IL-17-mediated downregulation of miR-497 enhanced HIF-1αexpression.Furthermore,astrocytespecific knockdown of IL-17RA and HIF-1αor astrocyte-specific overexpression of miR-497 by infection with different lentiviral vectors containing an astrocyte-specific promotor markedly decreased IL-1βand IL-6 production in brain tissues and alleviated the pathological changes and score of EAE mice.Collectively,these findings indicate that decreased miR-497 expression is responsible for IL-17-triggered high HIF-1αexpression and consequent IL-1βand IL-6 production by astrocytes in EAE mice. | Kai Shan Rongrong Pang Chenhui Zhao Xiaomei Liu Wenxing Gao Jing Zhang Dan Zhao Yingwei Wang Wen Qiu | 2017 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2017,14,11: | 5 |
| 15 | Study of lubrication behavior of pure water for hydrophobic friction pair显示文摘The perfluorooctyltrichlorosilane molecular layer was self-assembled on glass plate. The tribological properties of the molecular layer in water were studied with the method of ball on disk. An interesting phenomenon was found that low friction coefficients of 0.02―0.08 were obtained when the friction pair was lubricated with only a water droplet. Whereas, when the friction pair was encircled with large amount of water or fully immersed in water, the friction coefficient was higher than that under a droplet lubrication. A mechanism of water droplet lubrication was proposed that the surface tension caused by the solid-liquid-air three-phase interface makes water molecules enter into the contact zone, which separates the two friction surfaces and provides a low friction coefficient. | 16 | Antrodia Cinnamomea ameliorates neointimal formation by inhibiting infl ammatory cell infi ltration through downregulation of adhesion molecule expression in vitro and in vivo显示文摘The increased vascular infl ammation is a key event in the development of atherosclerotic lesions.Antrodia cinnamomea has been shown to promote anticancerogenic activity through decreasing infl ammation.However,the potential role of A.cinnamomea in cardiovascular diseases remains unexplored.Herein,using carotid arterial ligation models,we found that ethanol extract from A.cinnamomea(EEAC)signifi cantly inhibited neointimal hyperplasia in a dose-dependent manner,accompanied with the reduced expression of activated p65 and infl ammatory cytokines.We also show that EEAC ameliorated TNF-α-induced phosphorylation of p65 and pro-infl ammatory cytokine expression in both vascular smooth muscle cells(VSMCs)and macrophages in vitro.Mechanistically,EEAC suppressed expression levels of intercellular adhesion molecule-1(ICAM-1)and vascular cell adhesion molecule(VCAM-1)in VSMCs,which attenuates the ability of monocytes/macrophages adhesion to VSMCs.Furthermore,the expression level of these adhesion molecules and infi ltration of monocytes/macrophages were also decreased in neointimal VSMCs of arteries pretreated with EEAC.Altogether,our results reveal a novel function of A.cinnamomea in suppressing vascular infl ammation upon ligation injury during neointimal formation,likely through inhibition of infl ammatory cell infi ltration via downregulating the adhesion molecules in VSMCs.Thus,A.cinnamomea may offer a pharmacological therapy to slow down disease progression in patients with vascular injury. | Yan Zhang Aijin Ma Hao Xi Ning Chen Rong Wang Chenhui Yang Jinbang Chen Pin Lü Fuping Zheng Wenyi Kang | 2021 | Food Science and Human Wellness2021,10,4: | 4 |
| 17 | Sn02 nanoparticles anchored on graphene oxide as advanced anode materials for high-performance lithium-ion batteries显示文摘Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) with high energy density have attracted great attention for their wide applications in electric vehicles, and the exploration of the nextgeneration anode materials with high theoretical capacity is highly desired. In this work, Sn02 nanoparticles with the particle size of 200 nm uniformly anchored on the surface of graphene oxide (GO) was prepared by combination of the ultrasonic method and the following calcination process. The Sn02/GO composite with the weight ratio of Sn02 to GO at 4:1 exhibits excellent electrochemical performance, which originates from the synergistic effects between GO and Sn02 nanoparticles. A high discharge capacity of 492 mA·h·g^-1 can be obtained after 100 cycles at 0.2C, and after cycling at higher current densities of 1C and 2C, a discharge capacity of 641 mA·h·g^-1 can be restored when the current density goes back to 0.1C. | 18 | Superlubricity of Si_3N_4 sliding against SiO_2 under linear contact conditions in phosphoric acid solutions显示文摘Superlubricity phenomena, which were previously achieved merely under point contact conditions, have been observed under the linear contact condition between the silicon nitride (Si3N4) cylinder and the silica (SiO2) ring in phosphoric acid solutions.After a total 800 s running-in period and low friction stage, the friction coefficient finally declined to about 0.003. The ultralow friction coefficient could last for more than 5 h. In these experiments, a torque sensor of high accuracy was used to make sure that the measuring result was credible. The differences between superlubricity experiments in our group and others were dis-cussed. Unlike the situations in other superlubricity experiments about silicon nitride, where the specimens were immersed in water totally, the phosphoric acid solution with volume of only 150 μL was used in these tests. It was proved that free water in the solution had a great relationship to the necessary time of acquiring superlubricity and phosphoric acid played a unique role in the superlubricity, which could not be explained properly by the hydrodynamic lubrication model proposed by others.
