1Rare-earth element geochemistry reveals the provenance of sediments on the southwestern margin of the Challenger Deep显示文摘The hadal zone represents one of the last great frontiers in modern marine science,and deciphering the provenance of sediment that is supplied to these trench settings remains a largely unanswered question.Here,we examine the mineralogical and geochemical composition of a sediment core(core CD-1)that was recovered from the southwestern margin of the Challenger Deep within the Mariana Trench.Major element abundances and rare-earth element patterns from these sediments require inputs from both terrigenous dust and locally sourced volcanic debris.We exploit a two-endmember mixing model to demonstrate that locally sourced volcanic material dominates the sediment supply to the Challenger Deep(averaging^72%).The remainder,however,is supplied by aeolian dust(averaging^28%),which is consistent with adjacent studies that utilized Sr-Nd isotopic data.Building on a growing database,we strengthen our understanding of Asian aeolian dust input into the northwestern Pacific,which ultimately improves our appreciation of sedimentation in,and around,the hadal zone.JIANG Zuzhou SUN Zhilei LIU Zhaoqing CAO Hong GENG Wei XU Haixia WANG Lisheng WANG Libo 2019Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2019,37,3:5
2B-box proteins:Pivotal players in light-mediated development in plants^FA显示文摘Light signals mediate a number of physio-logical and developmental processes in plants, such as flowering, photomorphogenesis, and pigment accu-mulation. Emerging evidence has revealed that a group of B-box proteins (BBXs) function as central players in these light-mediated developmental processes. B-box proteins are a class of zinc-coordinated transcription factors or regulators that not only directly mediate the transcription of target genes but also interact with various other factors to create a complex regulatory network involved in the precise control of plant growth and development. 3Single event upset rate modeling for ultra-deep submicron complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor devices显示文摘Based on the integral method of single event upset(SEU) rate and an improved charge collection model for ultra-deep submicron complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor(CMOS) devices, three methods of SEU rate calculation are verified and compared. The results show that the integral method and the figure of merit(FOM) methods are basically consistent at the ultra-deep submicron level. 6Bismuth-Based Free-Standing Electrodes for Ambient-Condition Ammonia Production in Neutral Media显示文摘Electrocatalytic nitrogen reduction reaction is a carbon-free and energy-saving strategy for efficient synthesis of ammonia under ambient conditions.Here,we report the synthesis of nanosized Bi2O3 particles grown on functionalized exfoliated graphene(Bi2O3/FEG)via a facile electrochemical deposition method.The obtained free-standing Bi2O3/FEG achieves a high Faradaic efficiency of 11.2%and a large NH3 yield of 4.21±0.14μgNH3 h^-1 cm^-2 at-0.5 V versus reversible hydrogen electrode in 0.1 M Na2SO4,better than that in the strong acidic and basic media.Benefiting from its strong interaction of Bi 6p band with the N2p orbitals,binder-free characteristic,and facile electron transfer,Bi2O3/FEG achieves superior catalytic performance and excellent long-term stability as compared with most of the previous reported catalysts.This study is significant to design low-cost,high-efficient Bi-based electrocatalysts for electrochemical ammonia synthesis.Ying Sun Zizhao Deng Xi‑Ming Song Hui Li Zihang Huang Qin Zhao Daming Feng Wei Zhang Zhaoqing Liu Tianyi Ma 2020Nano-Micro Letters2020,12,10:2

16Nondestructive perception of potato quality in actual online production based on cross-modal technology显示文摘Nowadays,China stands as the global leader in terms of potato planting area and total potato production.The rapid and nondestructive detection of the potato quality before processing is of great significance in promoting rural revitalization and augmenting farmers’income.However,existing potato quality sorting methods are primarily confined to theoretical research,and the market lacks an integrated intelligent detection system.Therefore,there is an urgent need for a post-harvest potato detection method adapted to the actual production needs.The study proposes a potato quality sorting method based on cross-modal technology.First,an industrial camera obtains image information for external quality detection.A model using the YOLOv5s algorithm to detect external green-skinned,germinated,rot and mechanical damage defects.VIS/NIR spectroscopy is used to obtain spectral information for internal quality detection.A convolutional neural network(CNN)algorithm is used to detect internal blackheart disease defects.The mean average precision(mAP)of the external detection model is 0.892 when intersection of union(IoU)=0.5.The accuracy of the internal detection model is 98.2%.The real-time dynamic defect detection rate for the final online detection system is 91.3%,and the average detection time is 350 ms per potato.In contrast to samples collected in an ideal laboratory setting for analysis,the dynamic detection results of this study are more applicable based on a real-time online working environment.It also provides a valuable reference for the subsequent online quality testing of similar agricultural products.Qiquan Wei Yurui Zheng Zhaoqing Chen Yun Huang Changqing Chen Zhenbo Wei Shuiqin Zhou Hongwei Sun Fengnong Chen 2023International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2023,16,6:0
17Hybrid metasurface using graphene/graphitic carbon nitride heterojunctions for ultrasensitive terahertz biosensors with tunable energy band structure显示文摘Integrating novel materials is critical for the ultrasensitive,multi-dimensional detection of biomolecules in the terahertz(THz)range.Few studies on THz biosensors have used semiconductive active layers with tunable energy band structures.In this study,we demonstrate three THz biosensors for detecting casein molecules based on the hybridization of the metasurface with graphitic carbon nitride,graphene,and heterojunction.We achieved lowconcentration detection of casein molecules with a 3.54 ng/m L limit and multi-dimensional sensing by observing three degrees of variations(frequency shift,transmission difference,and phase difference).The favorable effect of casein on the conductivity of the semiconductive active layer can be used to explain the internal sensing mechanism.The incorporation of protein molecules changes the carrier concentration on the surface of the semiconductor active layer via the electrostatic doping effect as the concentration of positively charged casein grows,which alters the energy band structure and the conductivity of the active layer.The measured results indicate that any casein concentration can be distinguished directly by observing variations in resonance frequency,transmission value,and phase difference.With the heterojunction,the biosensor showed the highest response to the protein among the three biosensors.The Silvaco Atlas package was used to simulate the three samples'energy band structure and carrier transport to demonstrate the benefits of the heterojunction for the sensor.The simulation results validated our proposed theoretical mechanism model.Our proposed biosensors could provide a novel approach for THz metasurface-based ultrasensitive biosensing technologies.HAIYUN YAO ZHAOQING SUN LANJU LIANG XIN YAN YARUWANG MAOSHENG YANG XIAOFEI HU ZIQUN WANG ZHENHUA LI MENG WANG CHUANXIN HUANG QILI YANG ZHONGJUN TIAN JIANQUAN YAO 2023Photonics Research2023,11,5:0
18Predictors of mortality in patients with acute smallbowel perforation transferred to ICU after emergency surgery:a single-centre retrospective cohort study显示文摘Background Although small-bowel perforation is a life-threatening emergency even after immediate surgical intervention,studies have rarely investigated surgical outcomes due to its relatively low incidence.This study aimed to investigate the outcomes of emergency surgery for patients with small-bowel perforation transferred to the intensive care unit(ICU)and the risk factors for mortality.Methods Consecutive patients with small-bowel perforation who were confirmed via emergency surgery and transferred to the ICU in Zhongshan Hospital,Fudan University(Shanghai,China)between February 2011 and May 2020 were retrospectively analysed.Medical records were reviewed to determine clinical features,laboratory indicators,surgical findings,and pathology.Results A total of 104 patients were included in this study,among whom 18(17.3%),59(56.7%),and 27(26.0%)underwent perforation repair,segmental resection with primary anastomosis,and small-bowel ostomy,respectively.Malignant tumours were the leading cause of perforation in these patients(40.4%,42/104).The overall post-operative complication rate and mortality rates were 74.0%(77/104)and 19.2%(20/104),respectively.Malignant tumour-related perforation(odds ratio[OR],4.659;95%confidence interval[CI],1.269–17.105;P=0.020)and high post-operative arterial blood-lactate level(OR,1.479;95%CI,1.027–2.131;P=0.036)were identified as independent risk factors for post-operative mortality in patients with small-bowel perforation transferred to the ICU.Conclusions Patients with small-bowel perforation who are transferred to the ICU after emergency surgery face a high risk of post-operative complications and mortality.Moreover,those patients with malignant tumour-related perforation and higher post-operative blood-lactate levels have poor prognosis.Jianzhang Wu Ping Shu Hongyong He Haojie Li Zhaoqing Tang Yihong Sun Fenglin Liu 2022Gastroenterology Report2022,10,1:0
19Biodegradable calcium sulfide-based nanomodulators for H_(2)S-boosted Ca^(2+)-involved synergistic cascade cancer therapy显示文摘Hydrogen sulfide(H_(2)S)is the most recently discovered gasotransmitter molecule that activates multiple intracellular signaling pathways and exerts concentration-dependent antitumor effect by interfering with mitochondrial respiration and inhibiting cellular ATP generation.Inspired by the fact that H_(2)S can also serve as a promoter for intracellular Ca^(2+)influx,tumor-specific nanomodulators(I-CaS@PP)have been constructed by encapsulating calcium sulfide(CaS)and indocyanine green(ICG)into methoxy poly(ethylene glycol)-b-poly(lactide-co-glycolide)(PLGA-PEG).I-CaS@PP can achieve tumor-specific biodegradability with high biocompatibility and pH-responsive H_(2)S release.The released H_(2)S can effectively suppress the catalase(CAT)activity and synergize with released Ca^(2+)to facilitate abnormal Ca^(2+)retention in cells,thus leading to mitochondria destruction and amplification of oxidative stress.Mitochondrial dysfunction further contributes to blocking ATP synthesis and downregulating heat shock proteins(HSPs)expression,which is beneficial to overcome the heat endurance of tumor cells and strengthen ICG-induced photothermal performance.Such a H_(2)S-boosted Ca^(2+)-involved tumor-specific therapy exhibits highly effective tumor inhibition effect with almost complete elimination within 14-day treatment,indicating the great prospect of CaS-based nanomodulators as antitumor therapeutics.Chuchu Lin Chenyi Huang Zhaoqing Shi Meitong Ou Shengjie Sun Mian Yu Ting Chen Yunfei Yi Xiaoyuan Ji Feng Lv Meiying Wu Lin Mei 2022Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2022,12,12:0
20Practice of reperfusion in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction in China:findings from the Improving Care for Cardiovascular Disease in China–Acute Coronary Syndrome project显示文摘Background:Reperfusion therapy is fundamental for ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction(STEMI).However,the details of contemporary practice and factors associated with reperfusion therapy in China are largely unknown.Therefore,this study aimed to explore reperfusion practice and its associated factors among hospitalized patients with STEMI in China.Methods:Patients with STEMI who were admitted to 159 tertiary hospitals from 30 provinces in China were included in the Improving Care for Cardiovascular Disease in China–Acute Coronary Syndrome project from November 2014 to December 2019.The associations of the characteristics of patients and hospitals with reperfusion were examined using hierarchical logistic regression.The associations between therapies and in-hospital major adverse cardiovascular events were examined with a mixed effects Cox regression model.Results:Among the 59,447 patients,37,485(63.1%)underwent reperfusion,including 4556(7.7%)receiving fibrinolysis and 32,929(55.4%)receiving primary percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI).The reperfusion rate varied across geographical regions(48.0%–73.5%).The overall rate increased from 60.0%to 69.7%from 2014 to 2019,mainly due to an increase in primary PCI within 12 h of symptom onset.Timely PCI,but not fibrinolysis alone,was associated with a decreased risk of inhospital major adverse cardiovascular events compared with no reperfusion,with an adjusted hazard ratio(95%confidence interval)of 0.64(0.54,0.76)for primary PCI at<12 h,0.53(0.37,0.74)for primary PCI at 12 to 24 h,0.46(0.25,0.82)for the pharmaco-invasive strategy,and 0.79(0.54,1.15)for fibrinolysis alone.Conclusions:Nationwide quality improvement initiatives should be strengthened to increase the reperfusion rate and reduce inequality in China.Trial registration:www.ClinicalTrials.gov,NCT02306616。Yiqian Yang Yongchen Hao Jun Liu Na Yang Danqing Hu Zhaoqing Sun Dong Zhao Jing Liu on behalf of the Improving Care for Cardiovascular Disease in China-Acute Coronary Syndrome(CCC-ACS)Investigators 2022Chinese Medical Journal2022,135,23:0
