1Nutrient Composition of Different Foxtail Millet Seeds显示文摘Ten millet cultivars from China and abroad were analyzed for their crude fat,amylose and amylopectin,crude protein and amino acid content. A wide variation was observed in amylopectin contain,ranging from 54. 47% to 69. 26%,while amylose content ranged from 11. 26% to 23. 22%. The average crude fat in all cultivates was 3. 46%,and most cultivates ranged from 3. 1% to 3. 7%. Protein contents ranged from 8. 61% to 15. 54% with a mean value of 11. 94%. For amino acid composition,the ten cultivates were particularly rich in leucine,and the mean was 34. 57 mg/g. The millet cultivars were also high in glycine,glutamic acid and cysteine. Millet was known to be limiting in the essential amino lysine,and the mean was 5. 18 mg/g. Other amino acids,tyrosine,histidine and arginine were also very low in the ten cultivars. 2The abnormal behavior of polymers glass transition temperature increase and its mechanism显示文摘In terms of the classical theory in textbooks, the two components with phase separation in a binary polymer blend will, depending on their compatibility, have their respective Tg get closer or remain in their original values. According to the classical theory, the Tg of plastic component shall remain unchanged or move toward the lower Tg of rubber component in a rubber/plastic blend. However, ultra-fine full-vulcanized powdered rubber (UFPR) with a diameter of ca. 100 nm can simultaneously increase the toughness and the Tg of plastics, which is abnormal and is difficult to explain by classical theory. 7Eff ects of temperature on photosynthetic performance and nitrate reductase activity in vivo assay in Gracilariopsis lemaneiformis (Rhodophyta)显示文摘Gracilariopsis lemaneiformis is an economically-valued species and widely cultured in China at present.After being acclimated to diff erent growth temperatures(15,20,25,and 30°C)for 7 days,the relative growth rate(RGR),nitrate reductase activity,soluble protein content and chlorophyll a fl uorescence of G.lemaneiformis were examined.Results show that RGR was markedly aff ected by temperature especially at 20°C at which G.lemaneiformis exhibited the highest eff ective quantum yield of PSII[Y(II)]and lightsaturated electron transport rate(ETR max),but the lowest non-photochemical quenching.Irrespective of growth temperature,the nitrate reductase activity increased with the incubation temperature from 15 to 30°C.In addition,the greatest nitrate reductase activity was found in the thalli grown at 20°C.The value of temperature coeffi cient Q10 of alga cultured in 15°C was the greatest among those of other temperatures tested.Results indicate that the optimum temperature for nitrate reductase synthesis was relatively lower than that for nitrate reductase activity,and the relationship among growth,photosynthesis,and nitrate reductase activity showed that the optimum temperature for activity of nitrate reductase in vivo assay should be the same to the optimal growth temperature.Zhihai ZHONG Zhengyi LIU Longchuan ZHUANG Wanlin SONG Weizhou CHEN 2021Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2021,39,1:1
8Effects of Temperature and Light on Growth Rate and Photosynthetic Characteristics of Sargassum horneri显示文摘The changing environmental factors exerted great influences on coastal macroalgal communities.To study the responses of the brown seaweed Sargassum horneri to temperature and light,S.horneri was cultured under three temperatures(20,25 and 30℃)and three light intensities(30,60,and 120μmol photons m-2 s-1)for seven days.The growth rate,chlorophyll a(Chl a)and carotenoids(Car)contents,chlorophyll fluorescence,and photosynthetic oxygen evolution rate were measured.The results show that the highest relative growth rate(RGR),maximal electron transport rate(rETRmax);the net photosynthetic rate(Pn)were observed at the lowest temperature(20℃)and highest light intensity(120μmol photons m-2 s-1);and the RGR and Pn were significantly inhibited by the highest temperature(30℃),especially at the lowest light intensity(30μmol photons m-2 s-1)(P<0.05).Additionally,the highest light intensity enhanced the non-photochemical quenching(NPQ)even under the highest temperature(30℃),indicating that the higher light intensity could induce photo-protection reaction of thalli.These results suggest that the higher temperature and lower light intensity exerted negative influences on S.horneri.WANG Yong ZHONG Zhihai QIN Song LI Jialin LI Jingjing LIU Zhengyi 2021Journal of Ocean University of China2021,20,1:1

10Comparison of the photo-acclimation potential of fl oating and benthic thalli of Sargassum horneri(Phaeophyta)during autumn and winter显示文摘Sargassum horneri is a foundational species and an important contributor to the fl oating seaweed stock along the northeastern coast of Asia.In this study,benthic and fl oating thalli of S.horneri were collected from Changdao Island(37°54′N,120°43′E),Bohai Bay,China.We conducted an in-situ and an indoor experiment to study the acclimation potential in S.horneri to abiotic conditions at sea surface in autumn and winter.Both benthic and fl oating thalli were cultured in situ for two months(from October to December)at diff erent depths:0 m above sea level(masl)and 3 m below sea level(mbsl),and their growth rate,biochemical content,and photosynthetic performance were compared.During the fi rst month of culture,the relative growth rate of fl oating thalli was 2-fold greater than that of benthic thalli at 0 masl.The photosynthetic rate of most thalli was signifi cantly higher at 0 masl than at 3 mbsl.In the indoor experiments,fl oating and benthic thalli were exposed to high light intensity(400μmol photons/(m^(2)·s)photosynthetically active radiation(PAR))for 21 d,and their photo-acclimation capacities were compared.Under high light intensity,the two types of thalli showed low maximum quantum yield(F_(v)/F_(m))and light utilisation effi ciency(α)but high light saturation point(E_(k)).Floating thalli showed higher photosynthetic rate and photoprotective ability than benthic thalli at high light intensity.The eff ective quantum yield of photosystem II[Y(II)]of both types of thalli recovered after a 6-day treatment with low light intensity(40μmol photons/(m^(2)·s)).These fi ndings suggest that S.horneri is highly acclimated to the sea surface environment,which possibly contributes to its rapid accumulation and long free-fl oating periods at the sea surface.Jingjing LI Yunlong PANG Song QIN Zhengyi LIU Zhihai ZHONG Wanlin SONG Longchuan ZHUANG 2022Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2022,40,1:0

15A neutralizing-protective supersite of human monoclonal antibodies for yellow fever virus显示文摘The yellow fever virus(YFV)is a life-threatening human pathogen.Owing to the lack of available therapeutics,non-vaccinated individuals are at risk.Here,we isolated eight human monoclonal antibodies that neutralize YFV infection.Five recognized overlapping epitopes and exhibited potent neutralizing activity.Two(YD6 and YD73)were ultra-potent and conferred complete protection against the lethal challenge of YFV as both prophylactics and therapeutics in a mouse model.Crystal structures revealed that YD6 engaged the YFV envelope protein in both pre-and post-fusion states,suggesting viral inhibition by a“double-lock”mechanism.The recognition determinants for YD6 and YD73 are clustered at the premembrane(prM)-binding site.Notably,antibodies targeting this site were present in minute traces in YFV-infected individuals but contributed significantly to neutralization,suggesting a vulnerable supersite of YFV.We provide two promising candidates for immunotherapy against YFV,and the supersite represents an ideal target for epitope-based vaccine design.Yan Li Zhihai Chen Lili Wu Lianpan Dai Jianxun Qi Yan Chai Shihua Li Qihui Wang Zhou Tong Sufang Ma Xiaomin Duan Shuning Ren Rui Song Mifang Liang Wenjun Liu Jinghua Yan George F.Gao 2022The Innovation2022,3,6:0
