| 1 | Surfactant-Enhanced Soil Washing for Removal of Petroleum Hydrocarbons from Contaminated Soils: A Review显示文摘An increase in energy demand leads to further exploration, transportation, and utilization of petroleum, which creates severe soil contamination because of recurrent accidents and oil spills. Remediation of these contaminated soils is challenging. Among many treatment methods practiced for remediation of petroleum-contaminated soils, surfactant-enhanced soil washing has been widely practiced as a preferred treatment option, as it is a fast and environmentally accepted method. In this paper, we review research undertaken on various anionic, nonionic, cationic, biological, and mixed surfactants for the remediation of petroleum hydrocarbon-contaminated soils. Upcoming surfactants like gemini and switchable surfactants are summarized. We assess the challenges and opportunities of in-situ and ex-situ soil washing, the mechanisms of surfactant-enhanced soil washing, and the criteria to follow for surfactant selection.Furthermore, we briefly discuss the operational and environmental factors affecting soil washing efficiency and soil and surfactant properties affecting surfactant adsorption. We also describe the advantages of coupling soil washing with effluent treatment and surfactant reuse challenges and opportunities. | 3 | Accelerated carbonation and leaching behavior of the slag from iron and steel making industry显示文摘Ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS) and steelmaking slag have been used as a raw material for cement production or as an aggregate to make concrete, which contribute aluminum, calcium, iron, and silicon oxides. The suitability of the slag for a particular application depends on its reactivity, cost, availability, and its influence on the properties of the resulting concrete. For the interest of durability studying of concrete in the presence of slag, the accelerated carbonation products and leaching behavior of the slag and Portland cement (PC) were studied. The experimental results confirmed that the slag was more resistant to carbonation compared to PC. The carbonation degree of GGBFS reduced by 17.74/; and the carbonation degrees of steelmaking slags reduced by 9.51/-11.94/. Carbonation neutralized the alkaline nature of the hydrated pastes and gave rise to the redox potential of the leachate slightly (30-77 mV). The carbonation also increased the release of most of the elements presented, except for calcium, to the aqueous environment. | 19 | Construction of n-TiO_(2)/p-Ag_(2)O Junction on Carbon Fiber Cloth with Vis-NIR Photoresponse as a Filter-Membrane-Shaped Photocatalyst显示文摘The development of effective and reusable photocatalysts with broad-spectra activity has attracted attention.Herein,we have constructed n-TiO_(2)/p-Ag_(2)O junction on carbon fiber(CF)cloth as an efficient and recyclable photocatalyst.With CF cloth as the substrate,TiO_(2) nanorods(length:1-2μm)are prepared by a hydrothermal process,and the in-situ growth of Ag_(2)O nanoparticles(10-20 nm)is then realized by chemical bath deposition route.The flexible CF/TiO_(2)/Ag_(2)O cloth(area:4×4 cm^(2))shows a broad and strong photo-absorption(200-1000 nm).Under the illumination of visible-light(λ>400 nm),CF/TiO_(2)/Ag_(2)O cloth can efficiently eliminate 99.2%rhodamine B(RhB),99.4%acid orange 7(AO7),87.6%bisphenol A(BPA),and 89.5%hexavalent chromium(Cr^(6+))in 100 min,superior to CF/Ag_(2)O cloth(83.5%RhB,60.0%AO7,31.2%BPA and 41.8%Cr^(6+)).In particular,under the NIR-light illumination(980 nm laser),CF/TiO_(2)/Ag_(2)O cloth can remove 70.9%AO7 and 60.0%Cr^(6+) in 100 min,which are significantly higher than those by CF/Ag_(2)O cloth(19.8%AO7 and 18.9%Cr^(6+)).In addition,CF/TiO_(2)/Ag_(2)O cloth(diameter:10 cm),as a filter-membrane,can effectively wipe off 94.4%flowing RhB solution(rate:~1 L h^(−1))at 6th filtering/degrading grade.Thus,CF/TiO_(2)/Ag_(2)O cloth can be used as a Vis-NIR-responded filter-membrane-shaped photocatalyst with high-efficiency for purifying wastewater. | Gumila Duoerkun Yan Zhang Zhun Shi Xiaofeng Shen Wei Cao Ting Liu Jianshe Liu Quanyuan Chen Lisha Zhang | 2020 | Advanced Fiber Materials2020,2,1: | 0 |
| 20 | The Hydration and Carbonation of Tricalcium Aluminate (C_3A) in the Presence of Heavy Metals显示文摘The hydration of tricalcium aluminate (C3A) has a significant effect on the effectiveness of cement-based systems. In addition, the carbonation of hydration products of C3A is particularly important in respect of durability performance. The present work investigates the hydration and carbonation reactions of C3A and the changes induced by the presence of the heavy metal ions such as Zn 2+, Pb 2+, Cu 2+ and Cr 3+ by X-ray diffractometry (XRD). During hydration of C3A, gehlenite hydrate, hydrogarnet, calcium monoaluminate (C4AHx) and calcium carboaluminate were detected in C3A pastes except the Zn 2+doped paste, where hydrogarnet did not form. The examinations revealed that heavy metals coexisted with gehlenite hydrate, calcium monoaluminate (C4AHx) and calcium carboaluminate, inhibiting the formation of hydrogarnet. Hydrating C3A was liable to be carbonated on exposure to air and carbon dioxide, especially in the presence of heavy metals, resulting in the formation of carboaluminate and/or calcium carbonate. The presence of heavy metals in-fluenced the polymorphism of calcium carbonate,ndicating that heavy metals could co-precipitate with calcium to form a carbonate solid solution. | CHEN Quanyuan C. D.
