| 2 | Current status of surgical treatment of rectal cancer in China显示文摘With the changing lifestyle and the acceleration of aging in the Chinese population,the incidence and mortality of colorectal cancer(CRC)have risen in the last decades.On the contrary,the incidence and mortality of CRC have continued to decline in the USA since the 1980s,which is mainly attributed to early screening and standardized diagnosis and treatment.Rectal cancer accounts for the largest proportion of CRC in China,and its treatment regimens are complex.At present,surgical treatment is still the most important treatment for rectal cancer.Since the first Chinese guideline for diagnosis and treatment of CRC was issued in 2010,the fourth version has been revised in 2020.These guidelines have greatly promoted the standardization and internationalization of CRC diagnosis and treatment in China.And with the development of comprehensive treatment methods such as neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy,targeted therapy,and immunotherapy,the post-operative quality of life and prognosis of patients with rectal cancer have improved.We believe that the inflection point of the rising incidence and mortality of rectal cancer will appear in the near future in China.This article reviewed the current status and research progress on surgical therapy of rectal cancer in China. | Yong Yang Han-Yang Wang Yong-Kang Chen Jia-Jia Chen Can Song Jin Gu | 2020 | Chinese Medical Journal2020,,22: | 21 |

| 4 | Polyploid organisms显示文摘Polyploids are organisms with three or more complete chromosome sets. Polyploidization is widespread in plants and animals, and is an important mechanism of speciation. Genome sequencing and related molecular systematics and bioinformatics studies on plants and animals in recent years support the view that species have been shaped by whole genome duplication during evolution. The stability of polyploids depends on rapid genome recombination and changes in gene expression after formation. The formation of polyploids and subsequent diploidization are important aspects in long-term evolution. Polyploids can be formed in various ways. Among them, hybrid organisms formed by distant hybridization could produce unreduced gametes and thus generate offspring with doubled chromosomes, which is a fast, efficient method of polyploidization. The formation of fertile polyploids not only promoted the interflow of genetic materials among species and enriched the species diversity, but also laid the foundation for polyploidy breeding. The study of polyploids has both important theoretical significance and valuable applications. | 6 | MOF-derived Co-MOF,O-doped carbon as trifunctional electrocatalysts to enable highly efficient Zn-air batteries and water-splitting显示文摘Development of high-efficiency non-noble electrocatalysts for oxygen reduction reaction(ORR),oxygen evolution reaction(OER)and hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)is urgently needed for high-performance Zn-air batteries and overall water splitting.Here,a facile strategy to synthesize novel Co-MOF,O-doped carbon(Co-MOF-T)based on Zn,Co-doped glucosamine and ZIF-8 by pyrolysis at temperature T was demonstrated.The prepared Co-MOF-800 showed a superior oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)activity comparable to that of commercial Pt/C catalyst.In addition,this catalyst shows great potential in the overall water splitting due to the excellent oxygen evolution reaction(OER)and hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)activities.Based on the trifunctional activity,the primary Zn-air batteries using a Co-MOF-800 air electrode achieved a high open-circuit voltage of 1.38 V,a specific capacity of 671.6 mAh g^(-1) Zn,and a prominent peak power density of 144 mW cm^(-2).Also,the rechargeable Zn-air batteries based on CoMOF-800 air electrode could be smoothly run for 510 cycles with a low voltage gap of 0.58 V.Finally,the trifunctional Co-MOF-800 catalyst was applied to boost the electrochemical water splitting,demonstrating its promising potential as a green energy material for practical applications. | Xinde Duan Na Pan Can Sun Kexin Zhang Xukun Zhu Mingdao Zhang Li Song Hegen Zheng | 2021 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,5: | 5 |

| 8 | High-energy all-fiber gain-switched thulium-doped fiber laser for volumetric photoacoustic imaging of lipids显示文摘We demonstrate a high-energy all-fiber short wavelength gain-switched thulium-doped fiber laser for volumetric photoacoustic(PA)imaging of lipids.The laser cavity is constructed by embedding a short piece of gain fiber between a pair of fiber Bragg gratings(FBGs).Through using three pairs of FBGs with operation wavelengths at1700,1725,and 1750 nm,three similar lasers are realized with a cavity length of around 25 cm.Under a maximum pump energy of 300μJ at 1560 nm,laser pulse energies of 58.2,66.8,and 75.3μJ are,respectively,achieved with a minimum pulse width of<16.7 ns at a repetition rate of 10 kHz.Volumetric imaging of lipids is validated through scanning a fat beef slice with a PA microscopy system incorporated with the newly developed source,and a lateral resolution of 18.8μm and an axial resolution of 172.9μm are achieved.Moreover,the higher shooting speed of the developed source can potentially allow for increasing at twice the frame rate of current intravascular PA imaging. | CAN LI JIAWEI SHI XIATIAN WANG BOQUAN WANG XIAOJING GONG LIANG SONG KENNETH K.Y.WONG | 2020 | Photonics Research2020,8,2: | 4 |

| 11 | Core muscle functional strength training for reducing the risk of low back pain in military recruits:An open-label randomized controlled trial显示文摘Background:Core muscle functional strength training(CMFST)has been reported to reduce injuries to the lower extremity.However,no study has confirmed whether CMFST can reduce the risk of low back pain(LBP).Objective:This study identified the effects of CMFST on the incidence of LBP in military recruits.Design,setting,participants and intervention:We performed a prospective,open-label,randomized,controlled study in a population of young healthy male naval recruits from a Chinese basic combat training program.Participants were randomly assigned to either the core group or the control group.In additional to normal basic combat training,recruits in the core group underwent a CMFST program for 12 weeks,while recruits in the control group received no extra training.Main outcome measures:At the beginning of the study and at the 12 th week,the number of participants with LBP was counted,and lumbar muscle endurance was measured.In addition,when participants complained of LBP,they were assessed using the visual analog scale(VAS)and Roland Morris Disability Questionnaire(RMDQ).Results:A total of 588 participants were included in the final analysis(295 in the core group and 293 in the control group).The incidence of LBP in the control group was about twice that of the core group over the 12-week study(20.8%vs 10.8%,odds ratio:2.161–2.159,P<0.001).The core group had better lumbar muscle endurance at 12 weeks than the control group([200.80±92.98]s vs[147.00±84.51]s,P<0.01).There was no significant difference in VAS score between groups,but the core group had a significantly lower RMDQ score at week 12 than the control group(3.33±0.58 vs 5.47±4.41,P<0.05).Conclusion:This study demonstrated that the CMFST effectively reduced the incidence of LBP,improved lumbar muscle endurance,and relieved the dysfunction of LBP during basic military training. | Xin Wang Wen-juan Song Yi Ruan Bing-chu Li Can Lü Nian Huang Fan-fu Fang Wei Gu | 2022 | Journal of Integrative Medicine2022,20,2: | 3 |

| 13 | Gene duplication drove the loss of awn in sorghum.显示文摘Loss of the awn in some cereals including sorghum is a key transition during cereal domestication or improvement that has facilitated grain harvest and storage.The genetic basis for the loss of awn in sorghum during domestication or improvement remains unknown.Here,we identified a transcription factor gene awn1 encoding an ALOG domain,which is responsible for awn loss during sorghum domestication or improvement.awn1 arose from a gene duplication from chromosome 10 that translocated to chromosome 3,recruiting a new promoter from the neighbouring intergenic region filled with'noncoding DNA',and recreating the first exon and intron.The awn1 acquires high expr`ession after duplication and represses the elongation of awns in domesticated sorghum.Comparative mapping revealed a high collinearity at awn1 paralog locus on chromosome 10 across cereals and awn growth and development was successfully reactivated on the rice spikelet by inactivating rice awn1 orthologue.Further RNA-seq and DAP-seq revealed that as a transcription repressor,AWN1 directly bound to the motif in the regulatory regions from three MADS genes related to flower development and two genes DL and LKS2 for the development of awn,downregulated the expressions of these genes,and then repressed the elongation of awn.The preexistence of regulatory elements in the neighbouring intergenic region of awn1 before domestication signified that noncoding DNA may serve as a treasure trove for evolution during adaptation to a changing world.Our results supported that gene duplication can promptly drive the evolution of gene regulatory network. | Leina Zhou Can Zhu Xiaojian Fang Hangqin Liu Shuyang Zhong Yan Li Jiacheng Liu Yang Song Xing Jian Zhongwei Lin | 2021 | Molecular Plant2021,14,11: | 2 |

| 16 | Discrimination of dislocations in 4H-SiC by inclination angles of molten-alkali etched pits显示文摘Discrimination of dislocations is critical to the statistics of dislocation densities in 4H silicon carbide(4H-SiC),which are routinely used to evaluate the quality of 4H-SiC single crystals and homoepitaxial layers.In this work,we show that the inclination angles of the etch pits of molten-alkali etched 4H-SiC can be adopted to discriminate threading screw dislocations(TSDs),threading edge dislocations(TEDs)and basal plane dislocations(BPDs)in 4H-SiC.In n-type 4H-SiC,the inclination angles of the etch pits of TSDs,TEDs and BPDs in molten-alkali etched 4H-SiC are in the ranges of 27°−35°,8°−15°and 2°−4°,respectively.In semi-insulating 4H-SiC,the inclination angles of the etch pits of TSDs and TEDs are in the ranges of 31°−34°and 21°−24°,respectively.The inclination angles of dislocation-related etch pits are independent of the etching duration,which facilitates the discrimination and statistic of dislocations in 4H-SiC.More significantly,the inclination angle of a threading mixed dislocations(TMDs)is found to consist of characteristic angles of both TEDs and TSDs.This enables to distinguish TMDs from TSDs in 4H-SiC. | Guang Yang Hao Luo Jiajun Li Qinqin Shao Yazhe Wang Ruzhong Zhu Xi Zhang Lihui Song Yiqiang Zhang Lingbo Xu Can Cui Xiaodong Pi Deren Yang Rong Wang | 2022 | Journal of Semiconductors2022,43,12: | 2 |

| 18 | Fast response speed of mechanically exfoliated MoS2 modified by PbS in detecting NO2显示文摘MoS2,acting as a promising gas sensing material,has shown huge potential in monitoring of toxic and harmful gases at room temperature.However,MoS2-based gas sensors still suffer from poor gas sensing performance such as poor sensitivity,long response time.Constructing the hete ro structure is an effective approach to improve gas-sensing performance of MoS2.Herein,PbS@MoS2 composites synthesized by mechanical exfoliation combining with wet-chemical precipitation are used to investigate its performance in detecting NO2 at room temperature.The response value of PbS@MoS2 gas sensor against NO2 is significantly improved compared with the pure MoS2 gas sensor.At the same time,the modification with PbS also accelerates the response speed of MoS2,and the response time is almost reduced by two orders of magnitude,from hundreds of seconds to less than ten seconds.The enhanced response value and fast response time are mainly benefited from the modulation effect of NO2 to PbS@MoS2 heterostructure and the mechanically exfoliated MoS2 surface with few defects.This work can be expected to provide useful guidance for designing composite materials with excellent gas sensing properties. | Junjiang Tan Jinyong Hu Jianxu Ren Jinfeng Peng Can Liu Yiqiao Song Yong Zhang | 2020 | Chinese Chemical Letters2020,31,8: | 2 |
| 19 | Occupational Health Risk Assessment of Benzene,Toluene,and Xylene in Shanghai显示文摘Objective This study was designed to conduct a retrospective and systematic occupational health risk assessment(OHRA)of enterprises that used benzene,toluene,and xylene(BTX)in Shanghai,China.Methods All data for the study were obtained from 1,705 occupational health examination and evaluation reports from 2013 to 2017,and a semiquantitative model following Chinese OHRA guidelines(GBZ/T 298-2017)was applied for the assessment.Results The selected enterprises using BTX were mainly involved in manufacturing of products.Using the exposure level method,health risk levels associated with exposure to BTX were classified as medium,negligible,or low.However,the risk levels associated with benzene and toluene were significantly different according to job types,with gluers and inkers exhibiting greater health risks.For the same job type,the health risk levels assessed using the comprehensive index method were higher than those using the exposure level method.Conclusion Our OHRA reveals that workers who are exposed to BTX still face excessive health risk.Additionally,the risk level varied depending on job categories and exposure to specific chemicals.Therefore,additional control measures recommended by OHRA guidelines are essential to reduce worker exposure levels. | WANG Tong Shuai SONG Bo SUN Qing Hua LIN Yong Xin SUN Yuan SUN Pin JIA Xiao Dong William W.Au MEI Can Hua XIA Zhao Lin | 2021 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2021,34,4: | 2 |
