4Wall Sticking of High Water-Cut, Highly Viscous and High Gel-Point Crude Oil Transported at Low Temperatures显示文摘Some crude oils with high water cut have the capability to flow below the oil gel point, while the oil particles adhere to the pipe wall in the form of paste, also called 'wall sticking'. Wall sticking is a serious problem during the pipeline transportation, leading to partial or total blockage of the pipeline and energy wastage. In this paper, a series of laboratory flow loop experiments were conducted to observe the wall sticking characteristics of crude oil with high water cut, high viscosity and high gel point at low transportation temperatures. The effects of shear stress and water cut on the wall sticking rate and occurrence temperature were investigated. Experimental results indicated that the wall sticking rate and occurrence temperature were lower under stronger shear stress and higher water cut conditions. A criterion of wall sticking occurrence temperature(WSOT) and a regression model of wall sticking rate were then established. Finally, the software was developed to calculate the pressure drop along the pipelines of crude oils with high water-cut. It was able to predict the wall sticking thickness of gelled oil and then calculate the pressure drop along the pipelines. 6Selective laser melting of NiTi alloy with superior tensile property and shape memory effect显示文摘It is a challenge to develop complex-shaped Ni Ti shape memory alloy parts by traditional processing methods, due to the poor machinability of Ni Ti alloy. It is reported that selective laser melting(SLM) of additive manufacturing could overcome this problem. However, the reported SLM-produced Ni Ti exhibits poor tensile ductility due to the inner defects and adverse unidirectional columnar grains from SLM process. In this work, the defect-less SLM-Ni Ti with nondirective columnar grains was fabricated by optimizing the intraformational laser scanning length and interformational laser scanning direction. The obtained lath-shaped SLM-Ni Ti sample exhibits tensile strain of 15.6%, more than twice of the reported maximum result(7%). 7Effects of mowing and nitrogen addition on soil respiration in three patches in an oldfield grassland in Inner Mongolia显示文摘Aims Vegetation type is important in determining variations in soil carbon(C)efflux under grassland managements.This study was conducted to examine the effects of mowing and nitrogen(N)addition on soil respiration and their dependences upon vegetation types in an oldfield grassland of northern China.Methods Soil respiration,temperature,moisture and aboveground net primary productivity(ANPP)and belowground net primary productivity(BNPP)were examined in response to mowing and N addition among the three patches dominated by different species(named as grass,forb and mixed patches,respectively)in the growing seasons(May–October)from 2006 to 2008.Important Findings Across the 3 years,soil respiration in the grass patch was greater than those in the forb and mixed patches,which could have been ascribed to the higher soil moisture(SM)in the grass patch.Mowing had no impact on soil respiration due to unaltered SM and plant growth.Soil respiration was stimulated by 6.53%under N addition,and the enhancement was statistically significant in 2006 but not in 2007 or 2008 because of the limited water availability in the later 2 years.There were no interactive effects between mowing and N addition on soil respiration.Soil respiration showed positive dependence upon SM,ANPP and BNPP across plots.The results suggest that soil water availability and plant growth could be the primary factors in controlling the temporal and spatial variations in soil respiration and its response to different treatments.Our observations indicate that grassland managements(i.e.mowing for hay once a year)may have little influence on soil respiration of the oldfield grassland in northern China.Yi Han Zhe Zhang Changhui Wang Fenghe Jiang Jianyang Xia 2012Journal of Plant Ecology2012,5,2:14

9Meta-analysis and its application in global change research显示文摘Meta-analysis is a quantitative synthetic research method that statistically integrates results from in- dividual studies to find common trends and differences. With increasing concern over global change, meta-analysis has been rapidly adopted in global change research. Here, we introduce the methodolo- gies, advantages and disadvantages of meta-analysis, and review its application in global climate change research, including the responses of ecosystems to global warming and rising CO2 and O3 concentrations, the effects of land use and management on climate change and the effects of distur- bances on biogeochemistry cycles of ecosystem. Despite limitation and potential misapplication, meta-analysis has been demonstrated to be a much better tool than traditional narrative review in synthesizing results from multiple studies. Several methodological developments for research synthe- sis have not yet been widely used in global climate change researches such as cumulative meta-analysis and sensitivity analysis. It is necessary to update the results of meta-analysis on a given topic at regular intervals by including newly published studies. Emphasis should be put on multi-factor interaction and long-term experiments. There is great potential to apply meta-analysis to global climate change research in China because research and observation networks have been established (e.g. ChinaFlux and CERN), which create the need for combining these data and results to provide support for governments’ decision making on climate change. 10Heavy metal accumulation by panicled goldenrain tree(Koelreuteria paniculata) and common elaeocarpus(Elaeocarpus decipens) in abandoned mine soils in southern China显示文摘Phytoremediation can be used as a sustainable technology for mine spoil remediation to remove heavy metals.This study investigated the concentration of 7 heavy metal contamination in soil and plant samples at an abandoned mine site.We found that,after vegetation remediation at the abandoned mine site,the reduction rates for 7 heavy metals were in the range of 4.2%-86%,where reduction rates over 50% were achieved for four heavy metals(Zn,Mn,Cd,Ni).Transfer coeffcients of the panicled goldenrain tree(Koelreuteria paniculata Laxm) and the common elaeocarpus(Elaeocarpus decipens) for Zn,Mn,Ni,and Co were more than 1.Enrichment coeffcients of both trees for Mn were higher than 1.Our results suggest that the panicled goldenrain tree and the common elaeocarpus tree may act as accumulators in remediation.Moreover,the woody vegetation remediation in abandoned mining areas play an important role in improving scenery besides removing heavy metal from contaminated soil.TIAN Dalun ZHU Fan YAN Wende Fang Xi XIANG Wenhua DENG Xiangwen WANG Guangjun PENG Changhui 2009Journal of Environmental Sciences2009,21,3:11
11Application of artificial neural networks in global climate change and ecological research:An overview显示文摘Fields that employ artificial neural networks(ANNs)have developed and expanded continuously in recent years with the ongoing development of computer technology and artificial intelligence.ANN has been adopted widely and put into practice by research-ers in light of increasing concerns over ecological issues such as global warming,frequent El Nio-Southern Oscillation(ENSO)events,and atmospheric circulation anomalies.Limitations exist and there is a potential risk for misuse in that ANN model pa-rameters require typically higher overall sensitivity,and the chosen network structure is generally more dependent upon individ-ual experience.ANNs,however,are relatively accurate when used for short-term predictions;despite global climate change re-search favoring the effects of interactions as the basis of study and the preference for long-term experimental research.ANNs remain a better choice than many traditional methods when dealing with nonlinear problems,and possesses great potential for the study of global climate change and ecological issues.ANNs can resolve problems that other methods cannot.This is especially true for situations in which measurements are difficult to conduct or when only incomplete data are available.It is anticipated that ANNs will be widely adopted and then further developed for global climate change and ecological research.LIU ZeLin PENG ChangHui XIANG WenHua TIAN DaLun DENG XiangWen ZHAO MeiFang 2010Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,34:9
12Gold nanoflowers for 3D volumetric molecular imaging of tumors by photoacoustic tomography显示文摘By binding molecular probes that target tumor cells, gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) with superior characteristics have shown great potential in tumor molecular imaging studies. The non-invasive, high-resolution, and three-dimensional imaging of the targeted AuNPs within the tumor is desirable for both diagnosis and therapy. In this study, gold nanoflowers (AuNFs) are presented as a novel contrast agent for photoacoustic tomography (PAT). By binding to folic acid, the molecular probe, the tail-vein injected AuNFs concentrated within the tumor site in mice; this was clearly visualized by three-dimensional (3D) PAT imaging. In addition, toxicity assay proved that AuNFs were harmless to living cells and animals. 13Comparison of different phosphate species adsorption by ferric and alum water treatment residuals显示文摘As safe byproducts of drinking water treatment processes,ferric and alum water treatment residuals(FARs) have the potential to be new phosphate(P) immobilization materials.In this study,batch experiments were conducted to investigate and compare the adsorption characteristics of three P species by FARs.The results showed that the kinetic processes of different P species' adsorption by FARs could be described by a pseudo second-order model.The ranking list of the initial adsorption rates with respect to different phosphates was pyrophosphate,phytate,orthophosphate,hexametaphosphate and glycerophosphate.Of the six models considered,the two-site Langmuir model most effectively described the adsorption characteristics of the various P species.Upon fitting the results,the maximum adsorption capacities were determined to be 40.24 mg/g for phytate,18.04 mg/g for pyrophosphate,17.14 mg/g for orthophosphate,15.86 mg/g for hexametaphosphate and 10.81 mg/g for glycerophosphate.In addition,the adsorption processes of the different P species were spontaneous endothermic processes and were favored at lower pH values.The pH dependency was found to be especially true for orthophosphate,where the adsorption capacity decreased by 1.22 mg/g with an increase in pH from 5 to 9.Fractionation of the adsorbed P species from the FARs demonstrated that Al-P and Fe-P were the dominating forms,constituting approximately 80%-90% of the total P fractions,which indicated that the adsorbed P species had a low leaching risk and could stably exist in the FARs.Therefore,the FARs could be effective in controlling pollution in water caused by different P species.Sijia Gao Changhui Wang Yuansheng Pei 2013Journal of Environmental Sciences2013,25,5:7
14Carbon-Based Flexible and All-Solid-State Micro-supercapacitors Fabricated by Inkjet Printing with Enhanced Performance显示文摘By means of inkjet printing technique, flexible and all-solid-state micro-supercapacitors(MSCs) were fabricated with carbon-based hybrid ink composed of graphene oxide(GO,98.0vol.%) ink and commercial pen ink(2.0vol.%). A small amount of commercial pen ink was added to effectively reduce the agglomeration of theGO sheets during solvent evaporation and the following reduction processes in which the presence of graphite carbon nanoparticles served as nano-spacer to separate GO sheets. The printed device fabricated using the hybrid ink,combined with the binder-free microelectrodes and interdigital microelectrode configuration, exhibits nearly 780%enhancement in areal capacitance compared with that of pure GO ink. It also shows excellent flexibility and cycling stability with nearly 100% retention of the areal capacitance after 10,000 cycles. 15不同年龄大鼠血清抗中肾旁管激素水平与卵巢储备功能的关系显示文摘目的探讨不同年龄组雌性大鼠血清抗中肾旁管激素(AMH)变化的规律和原因,探讨AMH在预测卵巢储备功能方面的作用。方法SD雌性大鼠分为幼年组、成年组和老年组。运用ELISA和免疫荧光化学方法,检测血清和卵巢中AMH的表达。结果血清AMH水平,幼年组5.26±0.13 ng/mL,成年组2.34±0.11 ng/mL,老年组0.69±0.04 ng/mL,随年龄增长显著降低(P<0.001)。卵巢中AMH阳性卵泡的数量,幼年组19.5±1.3,成年组10.8±1.5,老年组3.8±0.6,随年龄增长显著降低(P<0.001)。结论随着大鼠年龄增长,卵巢中分泌AMH的生长卵泡数量减少,使血清AMH水平下降,提示卵巢储备功能下降。AMH是一个较好的检测卵巢储备功能的指标。梁元晶 XU Changhui KIM Beomsu PERESIE Jennifer YEH John 2008中国比较医学杂志2008,18,6:7

19A novel artificial nerve graft for repairing longdistance sciatic nerve defects:a self-assembling peptide nanofiber scaffold-containing poly (lactic-co-glycolic acid) conduit显示文摘In this study, we developed a novel artificial nerve graft termed self-assembling peptide nanofiber scaffold(SAPNS)-containing poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid)(PLGA) conduit(SPC) and used it to bridge a 10-mm-long sciatic nerve defect in the rat. Retrograde tracing, behavioral testing and histomorphometric analyses showed that compared with the empty PLGA conduit implantation group, the SPC implantation group had a larger number of growing and extending axons, a markedly increased diameter of regenerated axons and a greater thickness of the myelin sheath in the conduit. Furthermore, there was an increase in the size of the neuromuscular junction and myofiber diameter in the target muscle. 20High-yield preparation of robust gold nanoshells on silica nanorattles with good biocompatiblity显示文摘Although gold nanoshells are widely considered as one of the promising photothermal nanomaterials used for biomedicine, the high cost, low yield and poor stability severely limit their potential application in clinical trials.Herein, robust gold nanoshells on silica nanorattles(GSNs)were easily prepared in a high yield by an improved seedmediated method employing polyvinylpyrrolidone(PVP) as a stabilizing and capping agent. The present method is very simple, effective and reproducible and can well control the growth process of gold nanoshells. The as-prepared GSNs have a narrow size distribution(<10 % in standard deviation). Furthermore, the utilization rate of Au in the solution used for the growth of gold nanoshells increases by 70 %than that in previous method. The resultant GSNs have a good structural stability after placing over 6 months due to the protection of PVP. More importantly, in vivo and in vitro toxic studies indicate that the GSNs have good biocompatibility.
