| 1 | Comparison of OA-2000 and IOL Master 500 using in cataract patients with high myopia显示文摘This study was designed to compare optical biometry measurements and predicted refraction in cataract patients with high myopia [axial length(AL) ≥26 mm] using OA-2000 and IOL Master 500. Ocular biometry measurements were performed using both biometers before surgery. Uneventful cataract surgery was performed in all patients. Postoperative manifest refraction was obtained 3 wk after surgery or later. A total of 67 eyes were examined. The AL, keratometry(K), and anterior chamber depth(ACD) of the two biometers showed excellent agreement. Predicted errors were similar and a strong positive correlation was observed(r=0.909). Out of 21 eyes(31.34%) with unsuccessful AL readings using the IOL Master 500, 20 eyes of them could be measured using OA-2000. Therefore, the biometric parameters measured by the two biometers showed good agreement. | 2 | Successful Production of an All-Female Common Carp (Cyprinus carpio L.) Population Using cyp17a1-Deficient Neomale Carp显示文摘Due to sexual dimorphism in the growth of certain cultured fish species,the production of monosex fishes is desirable for the aquaculture industry.Nowadays,the most widely practiced technique available for the mass production of monosex fish populations is sex steroid-induced sex reversal.Here,a novel strategy for the successful production of all-female(AF)common carp(Cyprinus carpio L.),to take advantage of the sexual dimorphism in growth documented in this species,has been developed using genetic engineering via single gene-targeting manipulation without any exogenous hormone treatments.Male and female heterozygous cyp17a1-deficient common carp were first obtained using the clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats/CRISPR-associated endonuclease 9(CRISPR/Cas9)technique.An all-male phenotype for homozygous cyp17a1-deficient carp,regardless of the individuals’sexdetermination genotypes(XY or XX),has been observed.A male-specific DNA marker newly identified in our laboratory was used to screen the neomale carp population with the XX genotype from the cyp17a1-deficient carp.These neomale carp develop a normal testis structure with normal spermatogenesis and sperm capacity.The neomale common carp were then mated with wild-type(WT)females(cyp17a1^(+/+)XX genotype)using artificial fertilization.All the AF offspring sample fish from the neomale-WT female mating were confirmed as having the cyp17a^(1+/-)XX genotype,and normal development of gonads to ovaries was observed in 100.00%of this group at eight months post-fertilization(mpf).A total of 1000 carp fingerlings,500 from the WT male and female and 500 from the neomale and WT female mating,were mixed and reared in the same pond.The average body weight of cyp17a1^(+/-)XX females was higher by 6.60%(8 mpf)and 32.66%(12 mpf)than that of the control common carp.Our study demonstrates the first successful production of a monosex teleost population with the advantages of sexual dimorphism in growth using genetic manipulation targeting a single locus. | Gang Zhai Tingting Shu Kuangxin Chen Qiyong Lou Jingyi Jia Jianfei Huang Chuang Shi Xia Jin Jiangyan He Donghuo Jiang Xueqiao Qian Wei Hu Zhan Yin | 2022 | Engineering2022,8,1: | 7 |
| 3 | Synthesis of novel CeO_2–BiVO_4/FAC composites with enhanced visible-light photocatalytic properties显示文摘To utilize visible light more effectively in photocatalytic reactions,a fly ash cenosphere(FAC)-supported CeO2–BiVO4(CeO2–BiVO4/FAC)composite photocatalyst was prepared by modified metalorganic decomposition and impregnation methods.The physical and photophysical properties of the composite have been characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscope(SEM)and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDX),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),and UV–Visible diffuse reflectance spectra.The XRD patterns exhibited characteristic diffraction peaks of both BiVO4and CeO2crystalline phases.The XPS results showed that Ce was present as both Ce4+and Ce3+oxidation states in CeO2and dispersed on the surface of BiVO4to constitute a p–n heterojunction composite.The absorption threshold of the CeO2–BiVO4/FAC composite shifted to a longer wavelength in the UV–Vis absorption spectrum compared to the pure CeO2and pure BiVO4.The composites exhibited enhanced photocatalytic activity for Methylene Blue(MB)degradation under visible light irradiation.It was found that the 7.5 wt.%CeO2–BiVO4/FAC composite showed the highest photocatalytic activity for MB dye wastewater treatment. | Jin Zhang Bing Wang Chuang Li Hao Cui Jianping Zhai Qin Li | 2014 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2014,26,9: | 7 |

| 5 | Characteristics on microstructure and mechanical performances of 6111Al influenced by Ce-containing precipitates显示文摘In this work,the effects of Ce addition(0,0.1 wt%,0.3 wt%,0.5 wt%and 0.7 wt%)on the evolution of microstructure and mechanical properties of 6111 Al alloy and strengthening mechanism of 6111 Al-Ce alloy were systematically investigated by a polarizing microscope,a scanning electronic microscope,an energy dispersive spectroscope and a high-resolution transmission electron microscope.The results indicate that with 0.3 wt%Ce addition,theα-Al grains show the equiaxed crystal morphology with the average size decreasing from 137 to 57μm and numerous small AlCeSi phases with lump-like or platelike morphology are distributed closely along the grain boundary.The peak yield strength,ultimate tensile strength and elongation of 6111 Al-Ce alloy reach to 279 MPa,316 MPa and 12.1%,respectively,which is attributed to the grain refinement strengthening and the formation of nanosized Al11Ce3 precipitates.Eventually,this investigation gives us instructive suggestion to prepare the new kind of aluminum alloy with high strength and high ductility. | Xu Gao Yutao Zhao Xizhou Kai Wei Qian Liwei Jin Chuang Guan Peng Sheng | 2022 | Journal of Rare Earths2022,40,1: | 3 |
| 6 | Synthesis, characterization and photocatalytic application of H_3PW_(12)O_(40)/BiVO_4 composite photocatalyst显示文摘A series of H3PW12O40/BiVO4 composite with different H3PW12O40 loadings were prepared using a hydrothermal and impregnation method. The prepared composites were characterized by XRD, Raman, SEM, XPS, and DRS techniques. The bandgap of the composite was narrower compared with the as-prepared pure BiVO4 . As a novel photocatalytic material, the photocatalytic performance of the H3PW12O40/BiVO4 composite was investigated by the degradation of methylene blue (MB) dye solution under visible light irradiation and compared with that of pure BiVO4 . The results revealed that the introduction of H3PW12O40 could improve the photocatalytic performance and different concentrations of H3PW12O40 resulted in different photocatalytic activities. The highest activity was obtained by the sample with a loading HPW concentration of 10 wt%. The reason for the enhanced photocatalytic activities of H3PW12O40/BiVO4 samples was also discussed in this paper. | 8 | New insights into the flotation responses of brucite and serpentine for different conditioning times: Surface dissolution behavior显示文摘The inadvertent dissolution of gangue minerals is frequently detrimental to the flotation of valuable minerals.We investigated the effect of conditioning time on the separation of brucite and serpentine by flotation.By analyzing the Mg2+concentration,relative element content,and pulp viscosity,we studied the effect of mineral dissolution on brucite flotation.The results of artificially mixed mineral flotation tests(with-10μm serpentine)showed that by extending the conditioning time from 60 to 360 s,a large amount of Mg2+on the mineral surface gradually dissolved into the pulp,resulting in a decreased brucite recovery(from 83.83%to 76.79%)and an increased recovery of serpentine from 52.12%to 64.03%.To analyze the agglomeration behavior of brucite and serpentine,we used scanning electron microscopy,which clearly showed the different adhesion behaviors of different conditioning times.Lastly,the total interaction energy,as determined based on the extended DLVO(Derjaguin-Landau-Verwey-Overbeek)theory,also supports the conclusion that the gravitational force between brucite and serpentine increases significantly with increased conditioning time. | Ya-feng Fu Wan-zhong Yin Xian-shu Dong Chuan-yao Sun Bin Yang Jin Yao Hong-liang Li Chuang Li Hyunjung Kim | 2021 | International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2021,28,12: | 2 |
| 9 | Decrease in DNA methylation 1(DDM1) is required for the formation of ~mCHH islands in maize显示文摘DNA methylation plays a crucial role in suppressing mobilization of transposable elements and regulation of gene expression. A number of studies have indicated that DNA methylation pathways and patterns exhibit distinct properties in different species, including Arabidopsis, rice, and maize.Here, we characterized the function of DDM1 in regulating genome-wide DNA methylation in maize. Two homologs of Zm DDM1 are abundantly expressed in the embryo and their simultaneous disruption caused embryo lethality with abnormalities in cell proliferation from the early stage of kernel development. We establish that Zm DDM1 is critical for DNA methylation, at CHG sites, and to a lesser extent at CG sites, inheterochromatic regions, and unexpectedly, it is required for the formation ofmCHH islands. In addition, Zm DDM1 is indispensable for the presence of 24-nt si RNA, suggesting its involvement in the Rd DM pathway. | 10 | Effect of adjuvant therapy with electroacupuncture on bone turnover markers and interleukin 17 in patients with rheumatoid arthritis显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effect of electroacupuncture as an adjuvant treatment with first-line medications on bone metabolism biomarkers and interleukin-17(IL-17) in the peripheral blood of patients with rheumatoid arthritis(RA).METHODS: Sixty RA patients were randomized into three groups. The control group was treated with methotrexate plus leflunomide(MTX + LEF),the acupuncture group was treated with simple needling plus MTX + LEF, and the patients in the electroacupuncture(EA) group were treated with EA plus MTX + LEF. EA or acupuncture was applied every other day for a total of 10 times over a treatment period of 8 weeks.RESULTS: In all three treatment groups, serum levels of the bone metabolism markers PICP, N-MID,and B-ALP were elevated and the concentrations of the inflammatory markers β-CTx, IL-17, CRP, and TRACP-5b were reduced after treatment. These differences were significant for the EA group but not the other groups(P < 0.05).CONCLUSION: EA could effectively reduce the suffering and improve the quality of life of RA patients. | 12 | Hot Deformation Behavior and Workability of(SiC_p + Mg_2B_2O_(5w))/6061 Al Hybrid and SiC_p/6061 Al Composites显示文摘The hot deformation behavior of(3 vol%SiC_p + 3 vol%Mg_2B_2O_(5w))/6061 Al(W_3P_3) hybrid composite and6 vol%SiCp/6061 Al(P_6) composite have been characterized in the temperature range of 300-450 ℃ and strain rate range of 0.0001-0.1 s^(-1) using isothermal constant true strain rate tests.The flow behavior and processing maps have been investigated using the corrected data to eliminate the effect of friction.Under the same deformation conditions,the compressive resistance of the singular composite remains superior to that of the hybrid composites.The processing map of W_3P_3 hybrid composite exhibits a single hot working domain at the temperature between 350 and 450 ℃ with strain rate between 0.0001 and 0.003 s^(-1)(domain A).Two hot working domains exist for P_6 composite:(i) 300-400 ℃/0.0001-0.003 s^(-1)(domain Bl);(ii) 380-450 ℃/0.01-0.1 s^(-1)(domain B2).The processing maps also reveal the flow instability of the two composites,which is associated with whiskers breakage,whisker/matrix interfacial debonding,SiCp/matrix interfacial decohesion,adiabatic shear bands or flow localization,and wedge cracking in the corresponding regions.The estimated apparent activation energies are about 224 kJ mol^(-1) in domain A for W3P3 hybrid composite,177 kJ mol^(-1) in domain Bl and 263 kJ mol^(-1) in domain B2 for P_6 composite,respectively.These values are higher than that for self-diffusion in Al(142 kJ mol^(-1)),suggesting that there is a significant contribution from the back stress caused by the presence of particles and/or whiskers in the matrix.The deformation mechanisms corresponding to domain Bl and domain B2 are dislocation climb controlled creep and cross-slip for P_6 composite,respectively.For W_3P_3 hybrid composite,the deformation mechanisms contain dislocation climb controlled creep and grain boundary sliding caused by DRX in domain A. | Mingliang Wang Peipeng Jin Jinhui Wang Li Han Chuang Cui | 2014 | Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)2014,27,1: | 2 |

The result obtained indicated that compounds 7f, 7k and 7o, exhibited neuroprotective activity.
