| 1 | Ultrafast epitaxial growth of metre-sized single-crystal graphene on industrial Cu foil显示文摘A foundation of the modern technology that uses single-crystal silicon has been the growth of highquality single-crystal Si ingots with diameters up to 12 inches or larger. For many applications of graphene, large-area high-quality(ideally of single-crystal) material will be enabling. Since the first growth on copper foil a decade ago, inch-sized single-crystal graphene has been achieved. We present here the growth, in 20 min, of a graphene film of(5 ×50) cm^2 dimension with >99% ultra-highly oriented grains.This growth was achieved by:(1) synthesis of metre-sized single-crystal Cu(1 1 1) foil as substrate;(2)epitaxial growth of graphene islands on the Cu(1 1 1) surface;(3) seamless merging of such graphene islands into a graphene film with high single crystallinity and(4) the ultrafast growth of graphene film.These achievements were realized by a temperature-gradient-driven annealing technique to produce single-crystal Cu(1 1 1) from industrial polycrystalline Cu foil and the marvellous effects of a continuous oxygen supply from an adjacent oxide. The as-synthesized graphene film, with very few misoriented grains(if any), has a mobility up to ~23,000 cm^2 V^(-1)s^(-1)at 4 K and room temperature sheet resistance of ~230 Ω/□. | 2 | Transplantation of neurotrophin-3-transfected bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells for the repair of spinal cord injury显示文摘Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell transplantation has been shown to be therapeutic in the repair of spinal cord injury. However, the low survival rate of transplanted bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells in vivo remains a problem. Neurotrophin-3 promotes motor neuron survival and it is hypothesized that its transfection can enhance the therapeutic effect. We show that in vitro transfection of neurotrophin-3 gene increases the number of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells in the region of spinal cord injury. | 6 | Research of Compound Controller for Flight Simulator with Disturbance Observer显示文摘A compound controller is proposed to alleviate the considerable chattering in output of zero phase error tracking controller (ZPETC), when the flight simulator losses command data of simulation signal. Besides, the shortcomings, caused by conventional differential methods in retrieving velocity and acceleration signals, are avoided to a certain extent. The compound controller based on disturbance observer (DOB) is composed of a feed-forward controller and a feedback controller. It estimates velocity and acceleration of unknown tracking signal, and also velocity response with an approximate method for differential. The experiments on a single-axis flight simulator show that the proposed method has strong robustness against parameter perturbations and external disturbances, owing to the introduced DOB. Compared with the scheme with ZPETC, the proposed scheme possesses more simple design and better tracking performance. | 12 | Adaptive Mobile Video Delivery Based on Fountain Codes and DASH:A Survey显示文摘Recent years have witnessed an explosive growth in mobile video-based services and efficient and reliable video delivery draws more and more attention. As a type of rateless codes, fountain codes can automatically adapt to wireless channel conditions without any knowledge of channels. This paper provides an overview of several typical Forward Error Correction(FEC) codes, such as Reed-Solomon(RS) code, Tornado code, Luby-Transform(LT) code, and Raptor code. We focus on a novel delay-aware fountain coding(DAF) technique that maximizes the code word length under the constraint of a given delay. Based on DAF, this paper also presents Unequal Error Protection DAF(UEP-DAF) which improves the Peak Signal to Noise Ratio(PSNR) without additional coordination between the encoder and the decoder, as well as Model Predictive Control DAF(MPC-DAF) which reduces the computational complexity to an affordable level for real-time video communications. Moreover, we review video streaming technologies,then introduce Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP(DASH) and DASH over Multiple Content Distribution Servers(MCDSDASH) in detail. | 13 | Serological Investigation of Laboratory-Confirmed and Suspected Ebola Virus Disease Patients During the Late Phase of the Ebola Outbreak in Sierra Leone显示文摘This study aimed to investigate the serological characteristics of Ebola virus(EBOV) infection during the late phase of the Ebola outbreak in Sierra Leone. In total, 877 blood samples from 694 suspected Ebola virus disease(EVD) cases assessed from March to December 2015, were analyzed via real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) for viral RNA and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) and Luminex to detect antibodies against EBOV. Viral load and EBOV-specific IgM/IgG titers displayed a declining trend during March to December 2015. Viral RNA load decreased rapidly at earlier stages after disease onset, while EBOV-specific IgM and IgG still persisted in 58.1%(18/31) and 93.5%(29/31) of the confirmed EVD patients and in 3.8%(25/663) and 17.8%(118/663) of the RNA-negative suspected patients in the later phase, respectively. | 14 | Intercellular adhesion molecule-5 protects PAJU cells during in vitro ischemia following cerebral infarction显示文摘BACKGROUND: Intercellular adhesion molecule-5 (ICAM-5) relieves the damage of beta-amyloid protein to PAJU cells. However, little is known about how ICAM-5 works as a neurotrophic factor, or whether ICAM-5 lessens neuronal damage under ischemic conditions following cerebral infarction. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of ICAM-5 on PAJU cells growth in serum-free medium under ischemic conditions following cerebral infarction. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: The cytological in vitro study was performed at the Central Laboratory, Second Xiangya Hospital, Central South University, China, in June 2009. MATERIALS: Human ICAM-5 gene transfected into PAJU-TLN cells was supplied by the Life Science College, Helsinki University, Finland. Empty vector transfected PAJU-NEO cells were established by the Gene Center, Second Xiangya Hospital, Central South University, China. METHODS: PAJU-TLN cells transfected with human ICAM-5 or empty vector were incubated in serum-free medium. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Phase contrast microscopy was used to observe changes in PAJU cell morphology. 3-(4, 5-dimethylthiazolzyl)-2, 5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide was used to determine cell viability. Hoechst 33258 was used to stain cell nuclei. Flow cytometry was utilized to measure the apoptosis rate of both PAJU-TLN and PAJU-NEO cells. RESULTS: Both PAJU-TLN and PAJU-NEO cells were injured by cultivating in serum-free medium, but the survival rate of PAJU-TLN cells was significantly higher.
