| 2 | Relation between electricity structure of the crust and deformation of crustal blocks on the northeastern margin of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau显示文摘Study on the electricity structure along a magnetotelluric (MT) sounding profile on the northeastern margin of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau indicates that four crustal blocks can be de-termined from southwest to northeast, namely Bayan Har block (BH), Qin-Qi block (QQ), Hai-yuan block (HY) or the North-South seismotectonic belt and Ordos block (OD). The BH, QQ and OD blocks display a similar electricity structure of the crust. The upper crust represents a high- resistivity layer and the upper part of lower crust represents a low-resistivity layer with the resis-tivity increasing gradually with depth from the lower part of lower crust to the upper mantle. The electricity structure of the crust in these three blocks is similar to that in the complete blocks on the southern and eastern margins of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and belongs to normal electricity layering of the crust in slightly deformed or complete intracontinental blocks. The crust in HY block as a boundary zone has been significantly deformed, hence its electricity layering was de-stroyed and the structure was complex and the block became a recent tectonically active and great seismo-active region. The contact belts between the blocks on the northeastern margin of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau exhibit both upthrusting outward and strike-slip movement different from those on the southern and eastern margins of the plateau. | 6 | The Use of Lipoprotein-Associated Phospholipase A2 in a Chinese Population to Predict Cardiovascular Events显示文摘Objective To explore associations between lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2(Lp-PLA2)and the risk of cardiovascular events in a Chinese population,with a long-term follow-up.Methods A random sample of 2,031 participants(73.6%males,mean age=60.4 years)was derived from the Asymptomatic Polyvascular Abnormalities Community study(APAC)from 2010 to 2011.Serum Lp-PLA2 levels were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).The composite endpoint was a combination of first-ever stroke,myocardial infarction(MI)or all-cause death.Lp-PLA2 associations with outcomes were assessed using Cox models.Results The median Lp-PLA2 level was 141.0 ng/m L.Over a median follow-up of 9.1 years,we identified 389 events(19.2%),including 137 stroke incidents,43 MIs,and 244 all-cause deaths.Using multivariate Cox regression,when compared with the lowest Lp-PLA2 quartile,the hazard ratios with95%confidence intervals for developing composite endpoints,stroke,major adverse cardiovascular events,and all-cause death were 1.77(1.24–2.54),1.92(1.03–3.60),1.69(1.003–2.84),and 1.94(1.18–3.18)in the highest quartile,respectively.Composite endpoints in 145(28.6%)patients occurred in the highest quartile where Lp-PLA2(159.0 ng/m L)was much lower than the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists recommended cut-off point,200 ng/m L.Conclusion Higher Lp-PLA2 levels were associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular event/death in a middle-aged Chinese population.The Lp-PLA2 cut-off point may be lower in the Chinese population when predicting cardiovascular events. | XI Hui CHENG Guan Liang HU Fei Fei LI Song Nan DENG Xuan ZHOU Yong | 2022 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2022,35,3: | 8 |

| 8 | Microbial roles equivalent to geological agents of high temperature and pressure in deep Earth显示文摘Microbes not only show sensitive responses to environmental changes but also play important roles in geochemical and geophysical systems. It is well known that microbes have caused major changes in surface environments and biogeochemical cycles through Earth history. Microbial processes can also induce the synthesis of certain minerals under Earth-surface conditions that previously were believed to form only under high temperatures and pressures in the deep Earth. For example, microbes can promote the conversion of smectite to illite, synthesis of authigenic plagioclase, precipitation of dolomite, and biotransformation of geolipids. These effects of microbes are due to their large surface/volume ratios, enzyme production, and abundant functional groups. Microbial catalyzation of chemical reactions proceeds through reaction-specific enzymes, a decrease in Gibbs' s free energy, and/or break through the dynamics reaction thresholds via their metabolisms and physiology. Microbes can lower the surface free energy of mineral nuclei via biophysical adsorption due to their large surface/volume ratios and abundant functional groups. | 9 | Dihydromyricetin ameliorates chronic liver injury by reducing pyroptosis显示文摘BACKGROUND Chronic liver injury(CLI) is now a worldwide disease. However, there is no effective treatment. Pyroptosis plays an essential role in CLI. Dihydromyricetin(DHM) resists oxidation and protects the liver. We hypothesize that the beneficial effect of DHM on CLI is related to its effect on the expression of pyroptosisrelated molecules. Therefore, we studied the influence of DHM on CLI and pyroptosis.AIM To study the role of pyroptosis in the pathogenesis of CLI and the therapeutic mechanism of DHM.METHODS Thirty-two mice were randomly divided into four groups: The control group was injected with olive oil, the carbon tetrachloride(CCl4) group was injected with CCl4, the vehicle group was injected with hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin while injecting CCl4 and the DHM group was injected with DHM while injecting CCl4. After four weeks of treatment, liver tissues from the mice were stained with hematoxylin and eosin, and oil red O. Blood was collected from the angular vein for serological analysis. The severity of CLI was estimated. Some liver tissue was sampled for immunohistochemistry, Western blotting and quantitative reverse transcription PCR to observe the changes in pyroptosis-related molecules.RESULTS Serum total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein, aspartate aminotransferase(AST) and alanine aminotransferase(ALT) in the CCl4 group were higher than those in the control group, and serum total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein, AST and ALT in the DHM group were lower than those in the vehicle group. Hematoxylin and eosin and oil red O staining showed that there were more lipid droplets in the CCl4 group than in the control group, and there were fewer lipid droplets in the DHM group than in the vehicle group. Western blotting showed that the expression of the pyroptosis-related molecules caspase-1, NOD-, LRR-and pyrin domain-containing 3(NLRP3) and gasdermin D(GSDMD)-N in the CCl4 group was higher than that in the control group, while expression of these proteins in the DHM group was lower than that in the vehicle group. Quantitative reverse transcription PCR results showed that the expression of the pyroptosis-related genes caspase-1, NLRP3, GSDMD and interleukin-1β(IL-1β) in the CCl4 group was higher than that in the control group, while there was no significant change in NLRP3 and caspase-1 expression in the DHM group compared with that in the vehicle group, and the expression of GSDMD and IL-1β was decreased.CONCLUSION DHM improves CCl4-induced CLI and regulates the pyroptosis pathway in hepatocytes. The intensity of Fe XIII 10747 remained unchanged in the two different coronal regions while the intensity of He I 10830 varied considerably in the two coronal locations no matter whether the prominence appeared or not. | 12 | LncRNA GACAT2 binds with protein PKM1/2 to regulate cell mitochondrial function and cementogenesis in an inflammatory environment显示文摘Periodontal ligament stem cells(PDLSCs) are a key cell type for restoring/regenerating lost/damaged periodontal tissues, including alveolar bone, periodontal ligament and root cementum, the latter of which is important for regaining tooth function. However,PDLSCs residing in an inflammatory environment generally exhibit compromised functions, as demonstrated by an impaired ability to differentiate into cementoblasts, which are responsible for regrowing the cementum. This study investigated the role of mitochondrial function and downstream long noncoding RNAs(lnc RNAs) in regulating inflammation-induced changes in the cementogenesis of PDLSCs. We found that the inflammatory cytokine-induced impairment of the cementogenesis of PDLSCs was closely correlated with their mitochondrial function, and lnc RNA microarray analysis and gain/loss-of-function studies identified GACAT2 as a regulator of the cellular events involved in inflammation-mediated mitochondrial function and cementogenesis.Subsequently, a comprehensive identification of RNA-binding proteins by mass spectrometry(Ch IRP-MS) and parallel reaction monitoring(PRM) assays revealed that GACAT2 could directly bind to pyruvate kinase M1/2(PKM1/2), a protein correlated with mitochondrial function. Further functional studies demonstrated that GACAT2 overexpression increased the cellular protein expression of PKM1/2, the PKM2 tetramer and phosphorylated PKM2, which led to enhanced pyruvate kinase(PK) activity and increased translocation of PKM2 into mitochondria. We then found that GACAT2 overexpression could reverse the damage to mitochondrial function and cementoblastic differentiation of PDLSCs induced by inflammation and that this effect could be abolished by PKM1/2 knockdown. The self-assembled structures of two C2-symmetry TPE derivatives (H4TCPE and H4ETrC)possessing propeller structures and their stimulus responses to the additionof vinylpyridine derivatives were thoroughly studied with the assistance ofscanning tunneling microscopy (STM) technique in combination with densityfunctional theory (DFT) calculations. AS-1显示文摘Soils and waters are heavily contaminated by antimony in Xikuangshan(XKS)mine area.It is widely accepted that oxidative dissolution of sulfide minerals and aqueous dissolution are the most prevalent geochemical mechanisms for the release of Sb to the environment.Bosea sp.AS-1 is an antimonite-oxidizer isolated from the mine slag in Xikuangshan Sb mine.Whole genome sequencing revealed the presence of multiple sulfur-oxidizing genes,antimony(Sb)metabolism genes and carbon fixation genes in AS-1 s genome.We therefore hypothesized that under oxic conditions,AS-1 could mediate the oxidation of sulfide and Sb(Ⅲ)in stibnite(Sb_(2)S_(3))and lead to the release of Sb.Indeed,strain AS-1 was discovered as an autotrophic Sb(Ⅲ)-oxidizer.Antimony mobilization studies conducted with strain AS-1showed significantly enhanced mobilization of Sb,and complete oxidation of released Sb and sulfur to Sb(V)and sulfate.In addition,AS-1 induced a faster release of Sb under heterotrophic condition,and new acicular minerals might form.These findings support the hypothesis that microorganisms play an important role in the mobilization and transformation of Sb in XKS mine area and may contribute to our further understanding of the Sb biogeochemical redox cycle in natural environment. | Li Xiang Chaoyang Liu Deng Liu Liyuan Ma Xuan Qiu Hongmei Wang Xiaolu Lu | 2022 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2022,34,1: | 3 |
| 18 | Optimal Operation of Integrated Heat and Electricity Systems:A Tightening McCormick Approach显示文摘Combined heat and electricity operation with variable mass flow rates promotes flexibility,economy,and sustainability through synergies between electric power systems(EPSs)and district heating systems(DHSs).Such combined operation presents a highly nonlinear and nonconvex optimization problem,mainly due to the bilinear terms in the heat flow model—that is,the product of the mass flow rate and the nodal temperature.Existing methods,such as nonlinear optimization,generalized Benders decomposition,and convex relaxation,still present challenges in achieving a satisfactory performance in terms of solution quality and computational efficiency.To resolve this problem,we herein first reformulate the district heating network model through an equivalent transformation and variable substitution.The reformulated model has only one set of nonconvex constraints with reduced bilinear terms,and the remaining constraints are linear.Such a reformulation not only ensures optimality,but also accelerates the solving process.To relax the remaining bilinear constraints,we then apply McCormick envelopes and obtain an objective lower bound of the reformulated model.To improve the quality of the McCormick relaxation,we employ a piecewise McCormick technique that partitions the domain of one of the variables of the bilinear terms into several disjoint regions in order to derive strengthened lower and upper bounds of the partitioned variables.We propose a heuristic tightening method to further constrict the strengthened bounds derived from the piecewise McCormick technique and recover a nearby feasible solution.Case studies show that,compared with the interior point method and the method implemented in a global bilinear solver,the proposed tightening McCormick method quickly solves the heat–electricity operation problem with an acceptable feasibility check and optimality. | Lirong Deng Hongbin Sun Baoju Li Yong Sun Tianshu Yang Xuan Zhang | 2021 | Engineering2021,7,8: | 3 |

| 20 | A drug-loaded composite coating to improve osteogenic and antibacterial properties of Zn-1Mg porous scaffolds as biodegradable bone implants显示文摘Zinc(Zn)alloy porous scaffolds produced by additive manufacturing own customizable structures and biodegradable functions,having a great application potential for repairing bone defect.In this work,a hydroxyapatite(HA)/polydopamine(PDA)composite coating was constructed on the surface of Zn-1Mg porous scaffolds fabricated by laser powder bed fusion,and was loaded with a bioactive factor BMP2 and an antibacterial drug vancomycin.The microstructure,degradation behavior,biocompatibility,antibacterial performance and osteogenic activities were systematically investigated.Compared with as-built Zn-1Mg scaffolds,the rapid increase of Zn2+,which resulted to the deteriorated cell viability and osteogenic differentiation,was inhibited due to the physical barrier of the composite coating.In vitro cellular and bacterial assay indicated that the loaded BMP2 and vancomycin considerably enhanced the cytocompatibility and antibacterial performance.Significantly improved osteogenic and antibacterial functions were also observed according to in vivo implantation in the lateral femoral condyle of rats.The design,influence and mechanism of the composite coating were discussed accordingly.It was concluded that the additively manufactured Zn-1Mg porous scaffolds together with the composite coating could modulate biodegradable performance and contribute to effective promotion of bone recovery and antibacterial function. | Zhenbao Zhang Aobo Liu Jiadong Fan Menglin Wang Jiabao Dai Xiang Jin Huanze Deng Xuan Wang Yijie Liang Haixia Li Yantao Zhao Peng Wen Yanfeng Li | 2023 | Bioactive Materials2023,,9: | 2 |
