| 1 | Role and limitation of FMPSPGR dynamic contrast scanning in the follow-up of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma treated by TACE显示文摘AIM:To evaluate the role and limitation of fast multiplanarspoiled gradient-recalled (FMPSPGR) MR dynamiccontrast scanning in the follow-up of patients with HCCtreated by transarterial chemoembolization (TACE).METHODS:Twenty-two patients with 24 HCC lesionsconfirmed by biopsy or surgical resection underwentMR imaging in 4-9wks after TACE with a superconducting1.5 T MR scanner, including SE T1WI, T2WI and FMPSPGRdynamic contrast scanning. The signal intensities of alllesions on SE T1WI, T2WI and the enhancement patternson FMPSPGR dynamic contrast scanning were observed,and the comparison was made between MRI findingsand pathological results in ail the cases.RESULTS:Of the 24 lesions, the signal intensities werevarious on SE T1WI and T2WI. On T1WI, 13 lesionsappeared as hyperintense, 4 lesions were isointenseand the other 7 lesions were hypointensese.Histologically, hyperintense lesions showed on T1WIwere viable tumor or hemorrhage; isointensities werecoagulative necrosis or inflammatory infiltration;hypointensities were tumor, liquified necrosis,coagulative necrosis or inflammatory infiltration. OnT2WI, 15 lesions appeared as hyperintense, 3 lesionswere isointense and the other 6 lesions werehypointensese. Hyperintense lesions showed on T2WIwere residuals of viable tumor, hemorrhage, liquefiednecrosis or inflammatory infiltration; isointense lesionswere residuals of viable tumor or inflammatoryinfiltration; hypointense lesions were coagulativenecrosis. On FMPSPGR dynamic contrast scanning, 18of the 24 lesions enhanced on early-phase dynamicscanning conesponding to residuals of viable tumor andthe other 6 lesions had no enhancement at this phasebecause complete necrosis were seen in the histologicexamination. On delayed-phase dynamic scanning, 6lesions had permanent enhancement appeared asinhomogeneous hyperintensity and both residuals ofviable tumor and inflammatory infiltration were foundby histologic examination. 18 lesions were hypointenseat this phase and 8 of them coexisted with peripheralring-like enhancement of the lesions resulting fromviable tumors or inflammatory infiltration.CONCLUSION: FMPSPGR MR dynamic contrast scanningcan reflect the pathologic changes of HCC treated byTACE. Especially, early-phase dynamic scanning canevaluate accurately residuals of viable tumor andnecrosis in HCC lesions. | 2 | A two-step lineage reprogramming strategy to generate functionally competent human hepatocytes from fibroblasts显示文摘Terminally differentiated cells can be generated by lineage reprogramming,which is,however,hindered by incomplete conversion with residual initial cell identity and partial functionality. Here, we demonstrate a new reprogramming strategy by mimicking the natural regeneration route, which permits generating expandable hepatic progenitor cells and functionally competent human hepatocytes. Fibroblasts were first induced into human hepatic progenitor-like cells (hHPLCs), which could robustly expand in vitro and efficiently engraft in vivo. Moreover, hHPLCs could be efficiently induced into mature human hepatocytes (hiHeps) in vitro, whose molecular identity highly resembles primary human hepatocytes (PHHs). Most importantly, hiHeps could be generated in large quantity and were functionally competent to replace PHHs for drug-metabolism estimation, toxicity prediction and hepatitis B virus infection modeling. Our results highlight the advantages of the progenitor stage for successful lineage reprogramming. | 7 | H2 strain attenuated live hepatitis A vaccines:protective efficacy in a hepatitis A outbreak显示文摘AIM To investigate the protective efficacy ofH2 strain attenuated live hepatitis A vaccines(H2-strain vaccines)in hepatitis A(HA)outbreaks.METHODS With the permission of theirparents,5551 pre-school and grade 1-3 primaryschool children were inoculated with 1 dose(106.5TCID50)of H2-strain vaccines in anonrandomized,controlled trial conducted inFucheng County,Hebei Province in May 1997.Another 6485 children in the same grades andcompatible in gender and age were enrolled ascontrols.Epidemiological and serological surveywas conducted to evaluate the protectiveefficacy of the vaccines.ELISA was used todetect serum IgM anti-HAV.RESULTS HA outbreak started in early May1998,peaked in the middle of the same month,and lasted about 80 days.Overall 302 HA caseswere found,192(53.58%)were 5-9 years old.One vaccinee and 25 control cases were found tohave hepatitis A,which account for 0.28%(1/356)and 5.92%(25/422)of all vaccinees andcontrols in the 14 villages,respectively.The protective efficacy of vaccines was 95.27%(95% Cl:85.83%-104.72%).In subjects testedfor anti-HAV IgM from 13 villages,1(0.40%)overt and 11(4.06%)asymptomatic HAV caseswere found in 271 vaccinees,but 21(6.69%)ofovert and asymptomatic ones were found in 314controls.CONCLUSION H2 strain vaccines were excellent in preventing overt hepatitis A, but not so effective in preventing asymptomatic hepatitis A virus infection. | 9 | Anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor encephalitis that aggravates after acinetobacter baumannii pneumonia:A case report显示文摘We report an atypical case of anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor encephalitis(ANMDARE). A 27-year-old man diagnosed with ANMDARE received immunotherapy and had a good recovery. However, within one month, he developed severe status epilepticus and decreased level of conscience with new hyperpyrexia and dyspnea, and was admitted to the emergency intensive care unit. Acinetobacter baumanii were found in the sputum culture; and anti-NMDAR antibodies were positive(titer: 1/80) in the cerebrospinal fluid. Repeated immunotherapy was administered with antibacterial agents, and the patient recovered except for mild psychiatric sequelae. This is the first report of ANMDARE that aggravates after acinetobacter baumannii pneumonia. | 12 | Polarization microwave-induced thermoacoustic imaging for quantitative characterization of deep biological tissue microstructures显示文摘Polarization optical imaging can be used to characterize anisotropy in biological tissue microstructures and has been demonstrated to be a powerful tool for clinical diagnosis. However, the approach is limited by an inability to image targets deeper than ~1 mm due to strong optical scattering in biological tissues. As such, we propose a novel polarization microwave-induced thermoacoustic imaging(P-MTAI) technique to noninvasively detect variations in deep tissue by exploiting the thermoacoustic signals induced by four pulsed microwaves of varying polarization orientations. The proposed P-MTAI method overcomes the penetration limits of conventional polarization optical imaging and provides submillimeter resolution over depths of several centimeters. As part of the paper, the structural characteristics of tissues were quantified using a new parameter, the degree of microwave absorption anisotropy. | 14 | Inhibition of AXL enhances chemosensitivity of human ovarian cancer cells to cisplatin via decreasing glycolysis显示文摘Anexelekto (AXL), a member of the TYRO3-AXL-MER (TAM) family of receptor tyrosine kinases (RTK), is overexpressed in varieties of tumor tissues and promotes tumor development by regulating cell proliferation, migration and invasion. In this study, we investigated the role of AXL in regulating glycolysis in human ovarian cancer (OvCa) cells. We showed that the expression of AXL mRNA and protein was significantly higher in OvCa tissue than that in normal ovarian epithelial tissue. In human OvCa cell lines suppression of AXL significantly inhibited cell proliferation, and increased the sensitivity of OvCa cells to cisplatin, which also proved by nude mice tumor formation experiment. KEGG analysis showed that AXL was significantly enriched in the glycolysis pathways of cancer. Changes in AXL expression in OvCa cells affect tumor glycolysis. We demonstrated that the promotion effect of AXL on glycolysis was mediated by phosphorylating the M2 isoform of pyruvate kinase (PKM2) at Y105. AXL expression was significantly higher in cisplatin-resistant OvCa cells A2780/DDP compared with the parental A2780 cells. Inhibition of AXL decreased the level of glycolysis in A2780/DDP cells, and increased the cytotoxicity of cisplatin against A2780/DDP cells, suggesting that AXL- mediated glycolysis was associated with cisplatin resistance in OvCa. In conclusion, this study demonstrates for the first time that AXL is involved in the regulation of the Warburg effect. | 18 | Triboelectric nanogenerator with mechanical switch and clamp circuit for low ripple output显示文摘For new renewable clean energy,triboelectric nanogenerators(TENGs)have shown great potential in response to the world energy crisis.Nevertheless,the alternating-current signal generated by a TENG needs to be converted into a direct-current signal to be effective in applications.Therefore,a power management circuit,comprising a clamp rectifier circuit and a mechanical switch,is proposed for the conversion and produces a signal having a low ripple coefficient.The power management circuit adopts a clamp circuit as the rectifier circuit to increase the rectified voltage,and reduces the loss resulted from the components by reducing the use of discrete components;the electronic switch in the buck regulator circuit is replaced with a mechanical switch to reduce cost and complexity.In a series of experiments,this power management circuit displayed a stable output voltage with a ripple voltage of 0.07 V,crest factor of 1.01,and ripple coefficient of 2.2%.The TENG provides a feasible method to generate stable electric energy and to supply power to low-consumption electronic devices. | Xin Yu Zhenjie Wang Da Zhao Jianwei Ge Tinghai Cheng Zhong Lin Wang | 2022 | Nano Research2022,15,3: | 1 |

| 20 | Conceptual design of a Cs2LiLaBr6 scintillator‑based neutron total cross section spectrometer on the back‑n beam line at CSNS显示文摘To reduce the experimental uncertainty in the 235 U resonance energy region and improve the detection efficiency for neutron total cross section measurements compared with those obtained with the neutron total cross section spectrometer(NTOX), a dedicated lithium-containing scintillation detector has been developed on the Back-n beam line at the China Spallation Neutron Source. The Fast Scintillator-based Neutron Total Cross Section(FAST) spectrometer has been designed based on a Cs2Li La Br6(CLLB) scintillator considering the γ-ray flash and neutron environment on the Back-n beam line. The response of the CLLB scintillator to neutrons and γ-rays was evaluated with different 6Li/7 Li abundance ratios using Geant4. The neutron-γdiscrimination performance of the CLLB has been simulated considering different scintillation parameters, physical designs,and light readout modes. A cubic 6Li-enriched( > 90%) CLLB scintillator, which has a thickness of 4-9 mm and side length of no less than 50 mm to cover the Φ 50 mm neutron beam at the spectrometer position, has been proposed coupling to a side readout SiPM array to construct the FAST spectrometer.
