1Rapid improvement of PM2.5 pollution and associated health benefits in China during 2013–2017显示文摘Exposure to fine particulate matter(PM2.5)is known to harm public health.In China,after implementation of aggressive emissions control measures under the Action Plan of Air Pollution Prevention and Control(2013-2017),air quality has significantly improved.In this work,we investigated changes in PM2.5 exposure and the associated health impacts in China for the period 2013-2017.We used an optimal estimator of PM2.5 combining in-situ observations,satellite measurements,and simulations from a chemical transport model to derive the spatial and temporal variations in PM2.5 exposure,and then used welldeveloped exposure-response functions to estimate the premature deaths attributable to PM2.5 exposure.We found that national population-weighed annual mean PM2.5 concentrations decreased from 67.4μgm-3 in 2013 to 45.5μgm-3 in 2017(32%reduction).This rapid decrease in PM2.5 pollution led to a 14%reduction in premature deaths due to long-term exposure.We estimated that,during 2013-2017,the premature deaths attributable to long-term PM2.5 exposure decreased from 1.2 million(95%CI:1.0,1.3;fraction of total mortality:13%)in 2013 to 1.0 million(95%CI:0.9,1.2;10%)in 2017.Despite the rapid decrease in annual mean PM2.5 concentrations,health benefits associated with reduced long-term exposure were limited,because for many cities,the PM2.5 levels remain at the portion where the exposure-response function is less steeper than that at the lowconcentration end.We also found that the deaths associated with acute exposure decreased by 61%during 2013-2017 due to rapid reduction in the number of heavily polluted days.Our results confirm that clean air policies in China have mitigated the air pollution crisis;however,continuous emissions reduction efforts are required to protect citizens from air pollution.Tao XUE Jun LIU Qiang ZHANG Guannan GENG Yixuan ZHENG Dan TONG Zhu LIU Dabo GUAN Yu BO Tong ZHU Kebin HE Jiming HAO 2019Science China Earth Sciences2019,62,12:17
2Identifying the molecular basis of Jinhong tablets against chronic superficial gastritis via chemical profile identification and symptom-guided network pharmacology analysis显示文摘Chronic superficial gastritis(CSG)is a common disease of the digestive system that possesses a serious pathogenesis.Jinhong tablet(JHT),a traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)prescription,exerts therapeutic effects against CSG.However,the molecular basis of its therapeutic effect has not been clarified.Herein,we employed ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole time-of-flight tandem mass spectrometry(UPLC-Q/TOF-MS)based chemical profile identification to determine the chemical components in JHT.Further,we applied network pharmacology to illustrate its molecular mechanisms.A total of 96 chemical constituents were identified in JHT,31 of which were confirmed using reference standards.Based on the bioinformatics analysis using the symptom-guided pharmacological networks of“chi,”“blood,”“pain,”and“inflammation,”and target screening through the interaction probabilities between compounds and targets,matrix metalloproteinase 2(MMP2),dopamine d2 receptor(DRD2),and Aldo-keto reductase family 1 member B1(AKR1B1)were identified as key targets in the therapeutic effect exhibited by JHT against CSG.Moreover,according to the inhibitory activities presented in the literature and binding mode analysis,the structural types of alkaloids,flavonoids,organic acids,including chlorogenic acid(10),caffeic acid(13),(-)-corydalmine(33),(-)-isocorypalmine(36),isochlorogenic acid C(38),isochlorogenic acid A(41),quercetin-3-O-a-L-rhamnoside(42),isochlorogenic acid B(47),quercetin(63),and kaempferol(70)tended to show remarkable activities against CSG.Owing to the above findings,we systematically identified the chemical components of JHT and revealed its molecular mechanisms based on the symptoms associated with CSG.Danfeng Shi Lingxian Liu Haibo Li Dabo Pan Xiaojun Yao Wei Xiao Xinsheng Yao Yang Yu 2022Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2022,12,1:6

6Five tips for China to realize its co-targets of climate mitigation and Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs)显示文摘In 2018,a total of US$166 billion global economic losses and a new high of 55.3 Gt of CO_(2)equivalent emission were generated by 831 climate-related extreme events.As the world’s largest CO_(2)emitter,we reported China’s recent progresses and pitfalls in climate actions to achieve climate mitigation targets(i.e.,limit warming to 1.5-2°C above the pre-industrial level).We first summarized China’s integrated actions(2015 onwards)that benefit both climate change mitigation and Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs).These projects include re-structuring organizations,establishing working goals and actions,amending laws and regulations at national level,as well as increasing social awareness at community level.We then pointed out the shortcomings in different regions and sectors.Based on these analyses,we proposed five recommendations to help China improving its climate policy strategies,which include:1)restructuring the economy to balance short-term and long-term conflicts;2)developing circular economy with recycling mechanism and infrastructure;3)building up unified national standards and more accurate indicators;4)completing market mechanism for green economy and encouraging green consumption;and 5)enhancing technology innovations and local incentives via bottom-up actions.Chi Zhang Wenjia Cai Zhu Liu Yi-Ming Wei Dabo Guan Zheng Li Jinyue Yan Peng Gong 2020Geography and Sustainability2020,1,3:2
7Embodied carbon emissions in China-US trade显示文摘China-US trade holds great significance for the world’s political and economic landscape.Since 2018,the US government has imposed additional tariffs on Chinese exports on the grounds of the US trade deficit with China.However,the transfer of pollutants embodied in trade and the differences in environmental costs between China and the US have not been widely recognized.In this study,we quantify the embodied carbon emissions(the'virtual'emissions associated with trade and consumption)in China-US trade by constructing a carbon dioxide emissions inventory and a multiregional input-output model.The study shows that the US benefits from a trade surplus of environmental costs by importing energy-intensive and pollutionintensive products from China,which increases China’s environmental pollution and abatement costs.In 2017,288 Mt CO2 emissions were associated with products produced in China but finally consumed in the US,and only 46 Mt CO2 were associated with the US products that were consumed in China.From this perspective,China-US trade results in a net transfer of 242 Mt CO2 per year from the US to China,accounting for approximately 5%of the total CO2 emissions in the US.More importantly,for Chinese products exported to the US,the carbon emissions embodied in one unit of economic value amount to 0.92 kg/$(RMB:USD=6.8:1),but for US products exported to China,the carbon emissions embodied in one unit of economic value amount to 0.53 kg/$,which means China will incur environmental costs that are 74%higher than those of the US while enjoying the same economic benefits.This environmental trade deficit has burdened China with higher environmental costs than economic benefits.To address this environmental trade deficit,China should actively promote further industrial upgrading and energy structure adjustment and increase investment in innovation and R&D,thereby increasing the value added per unit of export products and reducing the environmental cost of producing export products.Zhu LIU Jing MENG Zhu DENG Ping LU Dabo GUAN Qiang ZHANG Kebin HE Peng GONG 2020Science China Earth Sciences2020,63,10:2

9Discovery of a novel sodium taurocholate cotransporting polypeptide(NTCP) inhibitor: Design, synthesis, and anti-proliferative activities显示文摘Sodium taurocholate cotransporting polypeptide(NTCP)is identified as the functional receptor for HBV entry,which is responsible for upregulated HBV transcription in the HBV life cycle.Besides,NTCP is also implicated in the progression of HBV-induced hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).Thereby,NTCP-targeting entry inhibitors are proposed to suppress HBV infection and replication in HBV-induced hepatoma therapy.Herein,we integrated in silico screening and chemical synthesis to obtain a small-molecule NTCP inhibitor B7,which exhibited moderate anti-proliferative activities against HepG2 cells and anti-HBV activity in vitro.Additionally,CETSA assay,molecular docking,and MD simulation validated that B7 could bind to NTCP.Furthermore,western blot analysis demonstrated that B7 induced apoptosis with an increased expression of Bax and caspase 3 cleaving as well as a decreasing expression of Bcl-2 in HepG2 cells.Taken together,our study identified B7 as a novel NTCP inhibitor with anti-proliferation activities which might provide a new opportunity for HCC therapy.Honggang Xiang Yanmei Chen Jifa Zhang jin Zhang Dabo Pan Bo Liu Liang Ouyang 2020Chinese Chemical Letters2020,31,6:1

20Description of adsorption equilibrium of PAHs on hypercrosslinked polymeric adsorbent using Polanyi potential theory显示文摘In this research,static adsorption of three polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs),naphthalene,acenaphthene,and fluorene,from aqueous solutions onto hypercrosslinked polymeric adsorbent within the temperature range of 288-308 K is investigated.Several isotherm equations are correlated with the equilibrium data,and the experimental data is found to fit the Polanyi-Dubinin-Manes model best within the entire range of concentrations,providing evidence that pore-filling is the dominating sorption mechanism for PAHs.The study shows that the molecular size of adsorbates has distinct in-fluence on adsorption capacity of hypercrosslinked polymeric adsorbent for the PAHs;the larger the adsorbate molecular size,the lower the adsorption equilibrium capacity.Based on the Polanyi-Dubinin-Manes model,the molecular size of adsorbates was introduced to adjust the adsorbate molar volume.Plots of qv vs.(σε /Vs) are collapsed to a single correlation curve for different adsorbates on hypercrosslinked polymeric resin.LONG Chao LI AiMin HU DaBo LIU FuQiang ZHANG QuanXing 2008Science China Chemistry2008,51,6:0
